Unfortunately, I've had multiple bad experiences here where xrays have been taken in a time frame that my insurance does not cover. If their team would let me know the extra expense would not be covered, I would have the option to make a decision on the matter. Instead, I receive an out of pocket bill after the fact. My insurance recently changed to Delta Dental which is out of network for Skyridge. After assurances from their staff that my out of pocket would be similar to previous visits, the same exact procedure (cleaning + xrays only) went from $155 ($140 insurance + $15 out of pocket) to $423 ($187 insurance that was reimbursed to me and $236 out of pocket). Do not fall for their assurances if you're out of network. Charged almost 3x more for the exact same procedure because I was out of network so even though my insurance paid more than my previous insurer my out-of-pocket was $221 more (1575% more). read more

But the financial department screwed me up for both visits. Recently I had the privilege of going to SkyRidge Dental and was so happy with my experience. Not only was the staff super friendly but it was one of the prettiest and cleanest dental offices I have ever seen. My exam was thorough and the treatments were explained in-depth. I initially chose Skyridge Dental because they were contracted with Delta Dental (make sure to do your own verification). Dr. Popat is a nice guy, smart and good at explaining course of treatment. Today, I was motivated to write this review because of the service I received from the best dental hygienist I have ever had. Kayla gave so much attention to my teeth that I don't ever want to see anyone else. I was a late appointment at the end of the day and even after a long day of work, she was very thorough. I've had some hygienist that just go thru the motions, but Kayla really took time to polish, work out stains and paint fluoride on my teeth. She was meticulous. The staff was all SO friendly! I was late and didn't fill out my paperwork, however the front desk staff were very understanding and sweet. I made an apt with this dental group because it was a referral by another doctor who says is highly recommended he confirmed exactly with I suspected with my dental xrays. I am thankful to meet a caring staff of inviting professionals my dentist is a Dr. Popat very precise he went to the problem figured out what really was going on immediately. In my opinion and based on my experience, this practice is a fourth rate dental chop shop. In fact, my short hour long interaction with this business, not just this dental practice, rates as one of the very worst in three states over the course over 30 + years in 3 different states. A little backstory, I've managed real estate and construction projects for the last three years. Lots of opportunities for surprises and issues in those scenarios. Problem #1: I didn't get what I wanted - a basic cleaning. There was a very aggressive attempt to up sell me on a deep cleaning program which entailed several visits during the year, every 3 months, and involved $99+ of out-of-pocket expense each time above and beyond insurance. Problem #2: Even though I explained that I have a strong gag reflex, that I didn't want to aggravate a outbreak of an existing skin disorder with bite wings and Pano x-rays, that I'm pressed for time, the dental hygienist told me that I have to have the x-rays or I will not have my teeth cleaned - office policy. Hmmm...never experienced that in the past... Trust concerns bubble up and an alarm begins ringing about ice cold indifference to customer concerns. The hygienist asked the office manager what to do. The office manager denied my request to return later for x-rays. Hmmm...I replied, "If I do that, I'm not coming back." Unfortunately, to save my self the hassle of going somewhere for a cleaning, I complied. Problem #2: After the x-rays were taken, I went to another room for the cleaning or so I thought. There, without warning, the dental hygienist strapped a blood pressure belt on my arm. Hmmm...never part of the process in other trusted dental practices. For a cleaning? Really? Then, she looks at, pokes at my teeth and types notes into a computer. She tells me that I have to go see a periodontist. I tell her I will not. Based on my years of blessed oral protocol and dental history, it didn't compute now, multiple alarms sound. Problem #3: The dentist walks in, reads the notes and turns to me. "...How many times a day do you brush your teeth?" She asks. I honestly tell her three. She tells the hygienist to record my response as two. Wow! Then, she tells me I have periodontal disease. She also says in a condescending way, "I know bad news is sometimes hard to take." I don't believe or trust her; so, not really. Problem #4: Given the fact that I won't follow their advice for a referral with sheep-like willingness, she recommends quarterly deep cleanings. Half of the cleaning would involve an hour more of my time. I refuse. I reiterate my purpose for the visit. They refuse to do anything but the deep cleaning. Hmmm...now I'm being denied a basic cleaning even though I was told otherwise. Now, I'm furious. Problem #5: Someone enters the room with a quote for me for the deep cleanings. I waive it away. When surrounded by three people, I'm told that I MUST sign that it was presented to me. Feeling bullied for sure, but standing my ground. I just want to leave. This is a nightmare on every level! I scribble presented on the form and scribble my name. Problem #6: I tell them I'm leaving. I exit the room and stop by the practice restroom. When I walk-out of the bathroom, I'm met by the tall dental hygienist who body blocks me. She looks down at me while saying, "You must tell me NOW if you'll be scheduling another appointment." Are you kidding me? Bullying on steroids! "I don't have to tell you anything," I reply. To which she says, "Then, you need to sign this document refusing periodontal treatment." I grit my teeth sign it, while under continued duress, and leave the office. The bottom line: I researched to find out more information about my "too old" x-rays that required a re-take. Panos are good for three years. The expiration date for mine - November 2020. Two weeks before new Panos are required. Those could've been delayed. Once again, a money grab and no concern for the customer's wishes. The bite wings had expired, but also were mandatory as a first step. Finally, I've had long-term trusted relationships with dentists; so, these deviations glow radioactive. In the end, I NEVER had my teeth cleaned, but who knows that may have actually been a positive in this hostile setting. During the course of my hour long interaction with they business, did I experience disrespect? Absolutely, yes. Alarming unprofessionalism? Yes. Bullying? Yes. Deceit? Yes. Harassment? Yes. As I related the story to my spouse, he reminded me that he visited a dentist who claimed that he needed 12 fillings. The findings of another practice - no fillings required. Hmmm.... I can't honestly say anything about the quality of the procedures because nothing was done other than consultation and x-rays. I took my 89 year old Dad there for a cleaning. He was a first time patient so I expected that X-rays would need to be done. After almost an hour inside the exam room he was sent out and his teeth had not been cleaned. The Dentist and hygienist were very nice and professional and were considerate of his age and came out to discuss his overall dental health. The surprise was went we went to check out and he got a bill for $427.! This was never discussed upfront and that is why I am only giving 1 star. I felt cheated. Next I was asked to schedule his cleaning...which was for scaling since he had a lot of plaque built up. I asked for a price and was told it would be $337 for his lower right and an additional $337 for the lower left. I was a bit shocked so we left. I called today to ask about his upper teeth cleaning. The response was that that would be a separate visit. My question is....how much does a cleaning cost? Why was the $427 fee never discussed? My husband and I were scheduled for cleaning next week so I asked what that charge would be. $319 each without X-rays. I think the prices are inflated but was more upset that fees are not given to us when we made the booking. I cancelled our appts due to that. I think they need to be more transparent. I went in for a routine cleaning. They doing some areas that needed fillings. When I went to get my fillings done, everything was fine until a couple of hours later when my filling fell out of my tooth while I was eating a hot pocket Along with a large hole in my tooth I had horrible intense pain and high sensitivity to heat/cold. I called their office and we set up another appointment. During my third appointment, (First-cleaning second- getting fillings) the doctor told me that I was in need of one possibly two root canals... After getting a second opinion I ended up needing two root canals. Save your teeth (and your wallet) and don't go to this doctor. read more

I just had my first teeth cleaning at SkyRidge Dental today. I chose this office due to the wonderful reviews and feedback I had heard about Dr. Popat. The front desk staff, Erika and Pam, and my hygienist, Allison, were so nice! Dr. Popat was just as great as expected too! Dr. Popat and Allison didn't yell at me for not flossing ‍, instead they discussed with me what would happen if I continue down this rebel path of only brushing. I was also 20 minutes late for my appointment to unexpected traffic on 620 and luckily they had a cancellation and were able to shift my appointment time. Doctor Cook is awesome. I had been putting off and putting off going to the dentist because of all the virus stuff. However, today I went and I'm glad I did. The office is always run so well and the entire staff is remarkable. The front desk is helpful, the necessary forms can be filed out online before the visit. The office is super nice and clean. The dental assistant was very nice handled everything in a nice manner. A special shout out to the young woman who took my X-rays. I have a small mouth and X-rays are often painful and a source of anxiety for me due to discomfort. However, she handled this procedure with such care that she put me completely at ease. I swear she is now my new adopted daughter and I'm sorry I didn't get her name. Dr Cook was her usual extra cool self. She knows her stuff and I'm so lucky to have her as my dentist. I also appreciate that the clinic is usually running on time when I've been there. All the staff is great. I went to Skyridge dental for over two years until it came under new management. In the past six months hygienists have quit, I have met other patients in the parking lot complaining overcharging. I have gone through three hygienists personally and have experienced overcharging. I had a procedure to add fluoride into some spots on my gums. The procedure took two minutes and I was billed $1100. After my gum procedure I came back a month later for regular cleaning, and was charged $165, when I used to be charged $40. I asked guy at the front desk why so expensive now. He said it's because I have gum disease. Since my $1100 procedure my cleanings are more detailed. I was confused because I received the exact same cleaning I always get every three months. They did nothing different because of my so-called gum disease. That was the last straw. I will never go back. The new owner, dentist has an attitude of entitlement. He is cocky, condescending, treats all the women hygienists like things or property. You get the attitude of a bromance between the dentist and the receptionist guy. It's like they're in a frat house talking about all the other women that work in the office. A totally different vibe and culture than the previous owner. read more

Super disappointed multiple times with sky ridge. We moved to the area last year so when trying to search dentist for my family, chose sky ridge because it's literally outside of our neighborhood. They advertise pediatric dentistry, but don't be fooled, they are definitely NOT. So after my kids first appt, they were told they can't help them with their cavities and they need to see someone else. We found an actual pediatric dentist that we are happy with. Since they are close and we had scheduled our cleaning months ago, decided to keep for my husband and I. Then most recently this week, my husband went for his dental cleaning appt. He was 12 mins late to his cleaning appt due to child care issues, but was sent away. His appt time is 45 mins long. I'm sure the first time we went for the cleaning it took less than 30mins. Not sure why they would send him away. I guess we will be looking for a new family dentist all together now. read more

Went in to have my teeth cleaned today (3/16/20) and had a bit of apprehension regarding Covid 19 exposure. That apprehension was quickly put to rest. My hygienist, Allison, informed me that the entire facility had been sanitized over the weekend. Further, I was instructed to use hand sanitizer before entering the exam room. Once in the room, I was instructed to rinse my mouth for 30 seconds with an antiseptic wash. Allison also advised that she would not be doing a polish as it creates airborne material. The dental staff wore protective masks and gloves... All good measures to keep me and the dental staff's health risks to a minimum! read more
