Dr. Mannas is the best dentist in Texas and possibly in the entire USA: hands down. If you want an honest and technically skilled dentist with zero pain, this is your man. If you're being told you need a crown, root canal, etc, etc.., then get a second and honest second opinion... and if he agrees, then do it with him.. but much of the time he will steer you straight and do the right thing. Dr Mannas is absolutely fantastic. He came into my store to get a cellphone repaired. While I was changing the battery, he mentioned he was a dentist. Low and behold, I had recently cracked a tooth. I showed it to him, and he said he could fix it. The very next day, I got a phone call from him saying he could get me in for the tooth that day. By the end of the day, I had a fixed tooth!!! I am new to town and was needing a new dentist and I needed a broken crown repaired. I called Dr. Mannas' office. I spoke to Dr. Mannas directly. He got me in the next day. The crown repair was going to take longer than the time allotted so Dr. Mannas cleaned my teeth that day and scheduled the crown repair for the next day. I couldn't be happier with my new dentist. After not going to a Dentist in over 20 years I decided to give Dr. Mannas a try because I had a horrible ache in my gums. One of my friends and neighbors gave me the recommendation for Dr. Mannas so I gave it a shot and I was amazed at what a great dentist he is. Not only did he take the time to clean my teeth-which was not your normal cleaning as my teeth where extremely dirty- but he also diagnosed my aching gums and got me some prescriptions to help with the pain immediately. I have had 3 visits with him now- still cleaning my poor teeth- and all I can say is WOW. Our family has had the same Dentist in Missouri for 40 plus years but I only see him when I'm passing through for Christmas or work. Having lived in Lakeway for the past three years and south Austin since '03, he was always encouraging me to find a Dentist locally. Two days while enjoying some Jolly Ranchers hard candy my porcelain crown came off. Guess it was time to find a local Dentist. I was preparing to travel out of town again, so I ask a good friend if she would call a few Dentist's offices about getting me in quickly to re-cement my crown. Out of several offices she called and left voice mail messages with, Dr. Mannas' office was the only one that was willing to fit me in, and that quickly. That was yesterday around 3:30. By 9:30 this morning, I was sitting in the chair getting current X-Rays of my teeth, a crown reseated and a cleaning and this by himself. Now, that is Great Service. I was surprised that Dr. Mannas didn't have a Dental Hygienist for the X-rays and cleaning, (a little unorthodox in these times) but he wants to insure that the patient is receiving the best of care, and I never thought that I was just a number or that he was just checking boxes. Ken has been personally looking after my teeth since I moved to the area in 1996. He is the first DDS that does the cleanings himself which is great in itself. He sees everything that way, including monitoring and cleaning gums. That was a big change from my previous Dentist who grew his practice so big and fancy,that I would only see him briefly. Now his X-RAY machine goes into computer files so you can easily see exactly what he sees since they can be blown up and described in more detail than before. With email reminders as well. Once when I was returning from a trip out of town, I called him after 6PM and he looked at my problem without making me wait until the next day. In addition, when my insurance had a glitch, he was nice enough to wait until it was resolved and did not make me pay up front. If you like personal service from someone who cares, then Ken is as good as it gets. read more

We moved from the Lake Travis area two years ago, and he is the only Doctor I haven't 'broken up' with! Our whole family's new favorite dentist! What makes him stand out is that he is competent, trustworthy and affordable. Dr. Mannas is caring and very good at what he does. Plus he designed his own building - so that the patient has a skylight above the dental chair (with beautiful oak tree above). For some reason (because after all, it's dentistry) I am comfortable and relaxed in his office. If I get slightly nervous, his therapy dog comes in and gives me a gentle nudge. No kidding! I started going to Dr. Mannas when we moved out to the Lakeway area two years ago. The first thing you need to know is he does the cleaning himself. So he gets a good look around and will tell you if he sees anything you need to have taken care of. That was a big change from the last place I went where it felt like I was there so the hygienist and dentist mainly wanted to find things to fix, whether I really needed them or not. Dr. Ken Mannas, was the first dentist my husband and I went to, when we move, from a small town near Pittsburgh, Pa in 1995. We loved him, he was kind, especially to me, since I had let my teeth go, which gave him plenty of work. My husbands dental insurance company, where he was employed changed providers, which had us have to change dentists. My husband just recently took an early retirement, and we stuck with the dentist, from our insurance plan. His prices were extremely high, for not having insurance. We got an estimate from Dr. Mannas, total cost was 1/3 of the company dentist. Dr. Mannas becomes a friend, letting you know, if there is a problem, you can call him anytime, on his cell phone, for an emergency. We never had any problems, from the work he had done to our teeth, 20 years ago. I needed some work done this week, calling him and he fitted me in the same day. We also are also leaving Austin, this week-end. He managed to get all my long time needed work done, by getting me another appointment. I am so surprised at the great ratings this dentist has gotten. I used him a few years ago to fix a broken tooth. He was sent the check from the insurance company. I knew by day 2 this was NOT a great job. Actually it the worst experience with a dentist I have ever experienced. Even with my horrible experience, I kept my thoughts to myself. There have been several occasions that I have thought about posting, but decided against it. The result of his repair resulted in a hole in my tooth. I no longer have dental insurance and since it doesn't hurt, I have not gone anywhere else to have it fixed again. Then a few weeks ago, I began to get harassing phone calls from him. I was told I owed him money for a cleaning. I never had a cleaning there. I have not been back to the office since the tooth repair! Who does this? The tooth was not repaired correctly and I am left with a hole in the tooth that I'm always cleaning food out of. And he was paid!! I would say, find someone else and save yourself the poor quality work I experienced. He must be desperate for work. I see him advertising for new customers a lot. read more
