I've been using this car service for my airport runs (JFK and LGA) for the past year. I always call a couple days in advance to set up the pickup time and get the discount code for my coupons (from the neighborhood circular). The latest they have ever been for an at home pick up is about 5 minutes. Other than that, the drivers have been courteous and have gotten me to the airport on time (with time to spare). Horrible customer service! The dispatcher took my number to call me from the airport and then didn't call when he arrived. So after a while I called them and they said "he's there! I'll tell him to hang on while you go outside" she had no idea why he didn't call and knew I had no idea what kind of car would be coming. I go to the meeting point and he's not there. I call again and the dispatcher says he misunderstood what she said and left the airport. I asked to speak to his boss and the dispatcher says she's it but has no control over what the drivers do. I repeated what she said as a question because it doesn't make sense. She responded she wasn't going to argue with me and said another car would be there in 20 minutes. When I said "what kind of car?" She hung up on me! I called them back and she doesn't even say hello, just says "a black minivan ". I would never ever use this company for anything. read more

The absolutely most rudest lady dispatcher over the phone. I work in hospitality and this is not how business should be conducted. American Airlines in Laguardia airport should terminate the contract with them. They are supposed to provide a service for distress, stranded or flight credit participants. I was hung up on by the dispatcher. Her name is sandy. Then when I called back and said I was hung up on she started screaming at me over and over that she didn't. She absolutely did. This person is going to destroy the business. I called her boss Moe. Told him what was going on and that she needs to be let go. I'll check back in a couple days for her employment status. Our drivers name is Luis. He was nice and got us to jfk fast. It's too bad a good guy like Luis has to work around a horrible person like sandy. read more

I was pretty disappointed. My driver took 30 minutes to get to JFK, first off, and I was headed to Newark Airport. He managed to take a round-about way up the Van Wyck over to the Long Island Expressway (495 W), and cheaped out by not taking the Midtown Tunnel which was traffic-free. Instead, he made his way over the Williamsburg Bridge and stuck us into 20 min of traffic on Delancey, and all the while, listening to 1010 WINS news coverage that the Holland had a 20-30 min backup, still managed to get into the traffic jam there and we waited for 40 min to get into the Holland. When I asked why he didn't take the Lincoln Tunnel, which was clear and no delays according to 1010 WINS, he said he "didn't know how to get to the airport from there". Are you serious? A driver that doesn't know the main roads in and out of the area to the airports? He could've taken the Lincoln to 1&9 South, completely empty of traffic. Not only does he skimp on a toll road to get over to traffic-filled lanes, he doesn't pay attention to traffic, and he slows for everything... driving 40 on the Pulaski Skyway (the limit is 50), and he takes 22 minutes to get from the Holland Tunnel over to the Newark Airport. I take 12 minutes normally, and that's with heavier traffic than he faced. In the end, he took 2.5 hours for what normally takes me 45 minutes to get from JFK to Newark. Horrible. The only saving grace on not getting a 0 on this was that I didn't have to pay. Someone else had to fork over the money for this terrible ride. read more

I wish I could give cero stars. it's a shame that American Airlines uses this company. last nigh I called and they said a car was coming in 15 mins. after that I called again and she said another 20. when I said she already told me that, she said she wasn't going to argue and hung up on me. When the car came, she said that the dispatcher hung up on me because she was probably busy. She said she will take me but she had me have me waiting in the car about 45 mins because she wanted to gather more people. the car was nasty and she seemed like she didn't shower in a week (and smelled like it). Next morning the other shuttle to take us back to the airport was late 25 mins. Again the shuttle was full of trash and she had a beer car. I have pictures! read more

Been using Skyway for airport runs for many years now. If I had my Yelp account last year around this time, probably would've been at least a 4 star review. After my experience in February, I am generously giving them 3 stars. Never a problem with getting a car in a timely fashion. They're ususally outside my door within 5 or 10 minutes tops. Sometimes, it is a bit trickier when I call for them to pick me up at the airport. Can be near 30 minutes, give or take. Still, it was worth the wait for me as the price is (supposed to be) $20.00 plus the $3.00 discounted coupons... My experience as of February is where it all took a turn for the worst... First off, I always get a price quote when I call for a car, as well as mention that I have the $3.00 discounted coupon (which this time I printed out right from the Skyway website)! The car arrived shortly after I called. Great... no problem! Upon arriving at the airport, I handed the driver $22.00 along with the coupon and told him that I got the authorization to use the coupon when I called for the cab. I even spelled it out for the driver: Here's $22.00... $20.00 minus the $3.00 is $17.00 plus $5.00 for you. He said "Oh no no! I can't use this coupon! It's a photocopy." I told him it was not a photocopy & that I printed it right from the website. He said he could not use it but not to worry... no problem. I did not have the time to argue. My boyfriend just pulled out several more singles & handed it to him... Now... the return trip... Got in kinda late, near midnite. Picked up the bags and made the call. Confirmed the price & mentioned the discount coupon. This time I stressed that I printed the coupon right from their website but the driver that drove me to the airport refused to honor the coupon. I asked if there would be a problem & was assured no problem! And there was no problem, this time, with the coupon. When we arrived at my house I did the same thing again. Spelled it all out & this time the driver actually honored the coupon but told me the trip was $25.00 instead of $20.00. WTF? I told him I got the price when I called & confirmed it to be just $20.00 but he told me some story which I could not even near understand about why it was $25.00 instead of $20.00. It was late and my boyfriend & I were too tired to argue so again, he pulled out extra money & that was that! The worst car service ever. My AA flight from LaGuardia was cancelled. I got another flight from Newark. American gave me a voucher for a car to Newark. After waiting an hour, nobody showed up. When I was finally able to get through to someone on the phone she told me she had no idea how long it would take for a driver to arrive. They clearly survive because of their contract with American Airlines, which should be cancelled immediately. I took an Uber. They deserve to be put out of business by Uber and Lyft. read more

wow, 2 horror stories in a row.... Skyway is very hit or miss. They're positively TERRIBLE at picking you up on the spot. Calling in and asking if a driver is currently available NEVER has worked out for me. I've done that 3 times and every time was simply a disaster; each time i'd call the dispatcher after 45 minutes of waiting to inform the them that i've found a yellow cab and am outta there. And yes, each time, the dispatcher wasnt the least bit phased and just said, 'ok'. They're fine with scheduled pick ups. I've noticed that calling ahead works better and theyre quite timely, have GPS and accept coupons. Yes, coupons. Skyway distributes coupons in the local circular and their drivers do redeem 'em. read more

Not a big fan of this place. At times youll get a quote and then when the driver arrives, they try to charge you more. One time i told them the cross streets of my destination, he got the name of the street wrong and when my 30 dollar fare turned into a 45 dollar fare because he stated, we crossed into long island, he said that was his bad but its 45 dollars. Way to go, thanks for that one. Not my only unhappy ride with them. I call 2-3 different car services also to see how much and how long, why do i even bother believing 5-10 minutes will be 5-10 minutes when ive waited upwards of 20-40 minutes making me late for work. These guys need to work on their service in whole. 4/22 so i received a message from the business owner and while it is nice to be acknowledged, his words just ensured that i will never be using their services again. read more

I would give them zero stars if I could. Horrible horrible service. I called at 8:30am for an 11am flight at JFK. First the operator told me that the cab will arrive at 9:00am. I asked if he could come sooner but was told that traffic from where they are to my hotel is bad. Fine, so 9:00 comes along, and I didn't hear anything. I waited for anther 10 minute and called back again. The Operator said another 15 minutes. at 9:30am, I called again, and then the operator said he'll be there in 15 minutes the traffic is pretty bad. Then I called at 9:45am (I was getting antsy because well my flight is at 11:00am and I have to check in luggage, etc, etc) Finally I called again, and this time the operator said well the cabbie is an hour away. I told the operator that my flight is at 11, and all he could say is you better get another ride. I was so mad, I hung up on him. If he told me at 9:15am when I called that the guy is 45 min away, I would have arranged for another transportation. If you want to get to your flight on time, I would suggest not using them. Stuck with them after Delta cancelled a flight late at night and rebooked us for the next morning. Should have known not to do it when a Delta employee who happened to be leaving work told us to avoid Skyway, and suggested other companies that come by that take the voucher. Still, we were approached by 2 different drivers who seemed no different than the sketchy livery cab guys that lurk around the exists saying "Manhattan? Manhattan?" Seeing no better option (and not wanting to pay out of pocket for the same ride), we got in a car with one of these creepy dudes - his car was clearly labelled to be from Skyway and had a cab license, so we figured it couldn't actually be that bad. We were wrong. First, he tried to hail more customers to get into his Honda Pilot, which seemed weird considering we were told the car was booked for us. He found one other passenger, who we actually happened to know as he was supposed to be on the same cancelled flight. The three of us asked him to please take us back to Manhattan...instead he took us to Terminal 3 where he tried again to get more passengers! There, he met up with another Skyway driver, who had passengers going to the Bronx and Midtown. We were told we needed to go with the second driver, as it was more convenient to pair us with the Bronx woman (we were going to UWS), and to put all the midtown people together. So we were shuffled over to a Lincoln Towncar which looked to be about 20 years old, and finally were on our way. The Towncar guy took over an hour to get back to Manhattan, despite being met with minimal traffic. He took the Van Wyck up to Grand Central Parkway, but then randomly decided to go down to Northern Blvd and the 59th St Bridge - I'm assuming this 20 minute detour was to avoid the toll on the RFK. This included a few turns down shady alleys, where we actually thought he was going to stop so he could rob us, because these were barely public access roads. We finally made it back, my previous affinity for Delta being severely damaged. Lesson: If an airline wants to compensate you with a travel voucher, make sure they DO NOT book Skyway. I've logged a complaint with Delta...hopefully they dump these losers as a "preferred vendor." read more

Not sure how this works. When you're late and the car is waiting for you they're charging you by the minute. But when they're late for a pick up, you pay the original quoted price. Anywho, ordered a car night before. My ride was 20 mins late. A bit frustrating. Because we are traveling with a large group and people are waiting for us at the airport already. I used to call Skyway pretty consistently when I first moved into this area and their service was always great. Drivers were courteous and prompt, prices were fair. But these past couple of times were...not good. One driver showed up 30 minutes before the appointed time. I wasn't ready...it was 5 in the morning! Turned out I was his last customer and he wanted to get home so he can sleep. When I got into the car, it reeked of BO. Next experience, the driver showed up 15 minutes early, never got out of his car but did pop the trunk so my elderly Dad can help me put my luggage in. When we got to the airport, driver again never got out. I felt forced to tip him a couple of dollars because he knew where I lived!! I'll be looking for a new car service. read more

Warning - DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE. I had the misfortune of having to take their car service from JFK when Delta bumped me from a flight. I have already complained to Delta and hopefully they will no longer use Skyway. First of all, they are thieves. They stole my Bose headphones and were shameless in doing so. Long story short, they said they were being held for me in their office and the next day when I called to remind them to bring them with them when they picked me up, they said that they were taken. When I complained, I was told, "We don't give a f--- about your headphones" and was hung up on. They also told me that they were not going to pick me up to bring me back to the airport. I called back and asked to speak with management and was told "I am f----- management" and was hung up on again. The driver was unsafe and took 1 hour and 45 minutes to get from JFK to Midtown Manhattan because he avoided all tolls as the previous poster also noted. He spoke loudly on his handheld cellphone the entire way. Unsafe!!! I think he was having an argument with someone. He would also push on the gas and brake pedals one after another and make the car jolt and stop abruptly every few seconds for the first 15 minutes of the ride without explanation. The guy in the front seat looked back and asked if something was wrong with the car, and the driver laughed and said "no, that's me" and demonstrated it to him and continued doing it until he complained. The driver also made a big scene when a passenger did not tip him "enough". There is nothing positive to say about this company - use at your own risk! You will have no recourse if your stuff is stolen, if it takes you five times longer than it should to get to your destination, or if you goodness forbid get injured en route because of their unsafe driving practices. read more

This was the worst service I have ever received with a car company. First, the car base told me it was only going to be a 20 minute wait, which turned out to be 45 minutes. When he was taking us to our destination, he was on his cell phone half the time and didn't even pay attention to where he was going. He ended up in a completely different neighborhood and finally had to put the address in the GPS to get to where he was going. If he had done that since the beginning we would have gotten there in 15 minutes. Instead it turned into a 35 minute car ride. This will be the last time I call Skyway. read more

So after using Skyway for the past couple months for scheduled pick ups I was very happy with them. The last time I used them for a trip to JFK it was $20. They picked me up on time in a very nice mini van and the driver was very helpful. That being said I DO NOT recommend them if you need a car right away. I called at 8 am for a car. First of all I was on hold for almost 10 minutes! That should have been my first clue. But I had such great experiences with them, I let that go. I finally spoke to the dispatcher, he told me the car would be here in 10 minutes. Great. Well, after numerous calls back and forth giving me the run around and a nasty attitude, they showed up almost 90 minutes later. I will NEVER again use them if i need a car on the spot. I will use them again for scheduled pick ups. The cars are well kept and the drivers have all been nice but that dispatcher was an absolute pig. read more

They really stink!! I made the mistake of calling them because I got them confused with the Original Skyway located on 164th street in Queens. I have used the 164th street service for years as i am a flight attendant who is based in jfk. This Skyway on Fresh Meadow lane I called . The dispatcher was rude and nonchalant. Told me cab would be there in 10 minutes...well its a week later and i am still waiting. When I attempted to call them the line goes straight to hold and nobody ever picked up. ended up calling another cab, thats when i realized my error. If you may or may not want to reach your destination then they are the cab service for you. read more

Unbelievable. Taxi driver, #717, was actually parked in my driveway urinating on the premises. No one called for a taxi and we certainly didn't call for someone to pee on the lawn. These white vans are continually parked on 69th Ave between 175th and 171st street in Fresh Meadows overnight reducing the available spaces for residents. The depot is only several blocks away but perhaps the drivers don't want the dispatch to know they have parked the cars and quit for the evening. When I confronted the dispatch several days ago to report this he assured me that all his cars were on calls. Funny, I was standing by at least two vacant vans with two others two blocks further away. Tonight, the infamous Van 717 was again parked by the house without its driver. Maybe he found another house to irrigate. Keep your cars and your drivers away from our neighborhood and make sure your drivers are potty trained. There has to be better car services we can use as an alternative. read more

WORST taxi service ever. Car actually never came. I called, they told me to call someone else.

Took this car service multiple times because I was too lazy to go on yelp to find a new car service. The cars are very old. The trunk doesn't close all the way on some cars. They need to tie up the trunk. Some of the drivers going to the airport can hardly walk or help with the luggage. In those situations dispatch should send another driver. Overall this car service gets you to the location but it really need to make improvements with so much competition out there. Lost me as a regular customer. read more

I would never use this service because the drivers are downright rude. Period. I took a photo of the van that was parked at Terminal 8, JFK at 1240pm on Sunday, July 29th. The driver had an empty van and basically just laid on his horn rushing families and other people trying to unload their cars. People thought something was wrong with him as he just kept laying on his horn. Nothing was wrong. He was just being a jerk. read more

Skyway follows the 20 minute rule. You can call 24 hours in advance to arrange for a car when you land at the airport, but it doesn't matter. They don't make a note of your request anyway. Having done that, You can call from the tarmac and they will tell you they'll be there in 20 minutes. No, no he won't. A half hour later you'll call and they will tell you 20 minutes. You will try again, and they will tell you he'll be there in 20 minutes. Two hours later, you will still be waiting for them, and you can call dispatch and ask them where their driver is, and they will tell you he's 20 minutes away. It takes longer to get skyway to take you to your destination than it does to fly 1000 miles. We are done with them. read more

Normally I rate this company well, but today I have a very difficult time saying anything good about Skyway. I would give you negative stars if I could!! Fire the rude afternoon dispatcher that I had to deal with PLEASE!! I called from my Georgia departing plane to make my pick up from JFK airport reservation. My plane was leaving early & I only had carry-on luggage so I confidently made a 2:30PM pick up appointment. I obtained a confirmation code from the dispatcher, who incidentally identified himself as the manager/owner. When I called upon arrival to confirm my pick-up gate & location, there was a different dispatcher & he notified me that me car was not dispatched yet, & stated that no information regarding my reservation was left for him by prior dispatcher. After multiple calls & heated discussions about how my flight arrived early, my driver still didn't pick me up until 2:59PM!! After being half an hour late for my reservation I demanded a rate reduction, especially since I was left standing on a post operative foot, in excruciating pain for over half an hour waiting for my overdue taxi!! Thanks Skyway for showing your repeat customers just how much we mean to you!! So much for planning ahead!!! I'll be calling someone else next time for sure! UBER PICKED MY TRAVEL COMPANION UP & GOT HER TO FRANKLIN SQUARE BEFORE SKYWAY PICKED ME UP AT 2:59! We had been using them for a few years with hit or miss results for short local trips only when necessary but learned how to deal with the BS. BUT after tonight, I'd give them ZERO stars if I could. I called this afternoon to make arrangements for a pickup in Manhattan because it was New Years and I knew I'd be drinking. I was told that there would be no problem and that I should call an hour before I need to be picked up in order to ensure that there would be a car. Well..guess what? I was flat out lied to. When I called at 11:44PM, I was told that they never told me that. After I insisted, and gave them the name of the dispatcher, I was put on hold and was then told that since the dispatcher had promised me, they'd be able to do so and they'd call me when they arrived. One hour later, I called to see how much longer it would be, and was told that they said that they NEVER were definite about it and only said they would "try" but it was not possible. I will NEVER use them for anything else and once I find another company, I will never use them again except to drop me off at the airport..and even then I have to ensure that I get the fare from the dispatcher because I've had issues with many of their drivers. All Skyway car services are the same ownership so no matter what the address is in Fresh Meadows or Flushing, be careful! read more

Forced to use this service when AA cancelled my flight to Nashville at JFK and booked me on another one in Newark. First of all, we were told each of us would have our own car and it would be waiting for us at the terminal entrance. Turns out a few passengers each were being shuttled in a minivan that was 20min late to pick us up. I actually was returning to Manhattan first so was given their number to call for a car later to take me to Newark. This time they were 40min late as they had stopped to pick up another passenger as well. How can a car service servicing airport pick ups be so bad at time management! Recovered a lost cell phone. I left my phone in a cup holder and didn't realize it until we were already in the airport and the van was long gone. In a rush to catch our flight, we didn't call Sky Way until we made it home in AR. Management did a great job of listening to our details and actually found the phone which had been turned in. I was shocked to say the least. I figured that the phone was history. We arranged for FedEx to pick up and received the phone a few days later. Great job to 'Moe' and his team.
