We have eaten there tree times. first dinners were very good. then we had breakfast of eggs Benedict which was best I've hade since The Coach Lite and Crossroads used to make them. last week we stopped for breakfast. Our coffee came in small glasses and the waitress did not return to fill them up until meal was served. I ordered traditional Eggs Benedict and my guest ordered the Eggs Benedict with bacon and avocado. Both dishes were served at room temperature and the hash browns could hardly be cut with a knife and were cold and dried out. The egg yolks didn't even 'run' when you cut into them. We would have asked for them to be warmed up but the waitress never returned only to give us the bill. Sadly this place has turned like many others. If you are older than 65 you are invisible or ignored. They forget we are very good tippers if some attention is paid to our concers. read more

First off, service was great. That was the only good thing about this place. The amount of time we waited for our food and then the quality of food that was served to us... was so incredibly disappointing. Prices were extremely high for what was placed in front of us. She was super helpful, listened to what we were saying and offered suggestions. We had Lamb Street Tacos and Roasted Crusted Whitefish. Then we ended with a Chocolate Pot De Crème which I would have again. Today, we went back and luckily we got Lilly as server again. We ordered Oysters that was half priced, The Ore Dock Broil & Truffle Fries and Whipped Garlic Potatoes. Serving size were enough to be shared with 3 or 4 people. Food was decent. I had a huge crab cake which was good not great. Glad I just ordered one. My husband had the stroganoff which he found to be delicious. We had the sautéed mushrooms which tasted fresh and were well prepared. We had the trout bites as an appetizer which we also pretty tasty. My boyfriend and I were trying to decide what to eat on a Friday night. We had heard about Slabz recently opening up and decided to give it a try. When we walked in it was a lot fancier and nicer than I thought it was going to be. Beautiful decor and wonderful atmosphere. We got seated immediately and also helped immediately. You get a nice complimentary chip and salmon dip with the table, delicious. I ordered the French Onion Soup and a Side of Garlic Mashed Potatoes, they were both delicious. First time here. Not many here, it's a Sunday. Ordered a steak salad along with French onion soup. Soup was not very good, no cheese over the top. There was very little taste. My salad had very little lettuce. No cheese and no avocado, but it did come with hair. The waitress did take it off my bill and wanted to give me another one which I said no.I didn't want it, but she brought it out anyways. Your trout fish spread was so salty, fishy, trout is too overpowering of a smell and taste, maybe u should go with white fish dip. The Chicken shawarma was so dried out, you knew it wasn't made that day. Your tempura shrimp roll was not tempura on it. That roll was cold and the crunchies on it was soggy. This was in the refrigerator, you could tell by the avocado was brown. I hate to say, you really need to rethink on how you cook your food, and presentation. For how much I spent it was too much. Go, just go. Stop reading this review right now and eat there. From the food to the service to the atmosphere, these people know how to create a fine dining experience. Our first meal was the Skip a Beet salad with argula, Michigan beets, blue cheese and walnuts long with the mussels----yes, mussels in Marquette---and Truffle Frites followed by cookies and cream gelato. Just amazing. Our second meal today was the Mezze Board with ingredients so fresh I felt like I was dining in a middle eastern cafe in a major city---that hummus, cudhigi and the flat bread with feta salad---absolutely divine. French onion soup with just the right broth and onions that melt in your mouth along with a lovely side salad and focaccia bread. Followed again by caramel gelato. Sarah, our waitress, was so lovely and informative and accommodated anything we needed. It was just a pleasure to sit in such a lovely space and this has to be one of the best date restaurants to bring that special person. Ok so listen. CLEARLY I have been here a LOT. I have so many more photos. I have to be frank. I was harsh. This place's customer service was inconsistent at first and the wait for food was extremely long, as well as sometimes not being what was requested or misleading. BUT I have decided to revisit the place later on and I have to say this place has really turned around. It's been quicker service with fantastic portions and I have always felt full after. I may say the food used to feel very oily but it's been better. Could be dependent on what you get. The Slabz burger felt very filling. The lobster roll was smaller than i thought and not nearly as stuffed as I anticipated. Still good though but I would hope for a bit more with the price. This is definitely a finer and nicer place to dine with a wonderful variety. I feel more confident in going than I did before. ALSO bottomless soup with bread is iffy to me. The bread is hard and more like croutons than actual bread and the 2nd round requested took a long while. On the other hand Their deserts are fire and filling. I haven't had the gelato by itself yet but i trust it's good. This place is too good to be a simple 3 star but I believe some improvements on consistency and some service still need to be made. Went on a Sunday night for dinner with our daughter and her family. Our granddaughter had an amazing kids chicken meal. Nice chunk of lightly breaded chicken that was not just pressed chicken pieces. Came with tasty fries. We had a lamb taco appetizer which was delicious. I had a wedge salad with the French onion soup which was really tasty. The best I've had in years. My daughter in-law also had the FO soup and the beet salad with chicken added. She said it was delicious. My husband and daughter had the burgers and they were perfectly medium rare as ordered. When it arrived I had hair in my food and asked to get it remade, when they brought it out it wasn't even the same sandwich I had originally ordered. My steak sandwich sounded promising but the bread was saturated with chimichurri which was very disappointing as I love chimichurri but this was obviously over kill. Three others in my party ordered steak. None were cooked as requested. Why ask? I did have the green chicken chili and it was delicious and my friend had the French onion soup which was also delicious. The quality of the food did not justify the price or the wait. My spouse and I ate there on a Friday night. There were a few tables open, but the place soon became full. Despite the crowd, our food was brought out in a timely manner. I had the Lion's Mane Mushroom Pasta; my husband had the Wildcat Whitefish Chowder. We were both really happy with our choices. Being a vegetarian, I did not sample the chowder, but it was deemed excellent. As a non-meat eater, I was happy to have a substantial and well-thought-out vegetarian entree. So many restaurants just expect us to cobble something together from the salad or side selections. It was a little on the high end pricewise, but the mushrooms were generous in proportion, and the balance of flavor in the sauce was perfect. The pasta did have a bit of spicy to heat to it, which I loved, but that might be a little too hot for some. It would have been nice to have a slice of bread with it, but otherwise, no complaints.
