My husband and I visited SLATE on 4/25/26. He got the new advanced dermalift facial. I got the organic dermaplanning facial. The staff is so friendly, the place is so clean and nice. They pay really good attention to detail. I liked this place because it doesn't feel so bougie that you feel out of place. Advanced Dermalift facial 10/10- my husband looked amazing when he came out of his facial. The bags under his eyes were practically gone. His skin was glowing. I was astonished. Organic dermaplanning- 8/10 I've had dermaplanning facials at other places and I've liked some of them better. Don't get me wrong, this one was great. But I wouldn't get it again. Firstly, staff are lovely and accommodating. The atmosphere is professional & friendly. Unfortunately, tan quality is sub par & tan won't last more than a day. If you are hoping for a flawless tan for an event then book day before but even then better options. Maid of honor & I both noticed feeling swollen / red after application. Both of us had patchy tans despite following all after care religiously. Bride thankfully had a better experience (but she has a natural tan anyway -- so just enhanced it). As per photos, tan is natural looking. But i had a patch on my arm that I was told would wash off with first shower (but didn't) and didn't really get a tan I was happy with. Slate always knocks it out of the park. Great staff, clean facilities, and nice tan. I will say, do not get a spray tan the day before you fly anywhere. The spray tan did set off the alarms at the airport so there's that! TSA agents said the chemicals in the spray tan and any essential oils will always lead to a person getting patted down. I love Slate! They are the best in town. They do their best to get you in and out quickly but do a very thorough job. I am always impressed by the results. They use color theory so the tan never turns out orange! They have a selection of loose clothing and flip flops just in case you need it. Always super cute and on trend clothing. The girls at Slate are amazing. It started torrentially raining while we were getting spray tanned and they bent over backwards to protect our tan. They got literally soaked in rain to pull our car up for us and run us out under umbrellas. We cannot say enough about their excellent service!!! These are my confessions... in high school I used to use tanning beds. Every once in a while I get the urge to go again to get bronzed but resist. No thanks, skin cancer! SLATE is zillion times better than any sun (fake or real) your skin will ever be exposed to! 24 hours before a hugey work event I decided I wanted to feel more confident with a tan (since I knew my makeup would melt off.) I called and easily made an appointment a few hours from then. The whole experience was marvelous and exceeded my expectations in every way. You'll consult with whoever sprays the tan on you regarding your desired tan and strip down to whatever you feel comfortable wearing (or not wearing) for them to take but 7 minutes to ensure a beautiful no-streak tan. I had never had a spray tan before because I was naturally tan but recently I haven't been able to get out and get some sun. I was really nervous about how the spray tan would turn out because I did not want to be orange. Well as it turns out spray tans are the way to go. You don't have to deal with the gross UV exposure that you get at tanning beds or even from the sun. I'm a changed woman. I got the medium silver tan and I looked great for my engagement photos. They had great instructions to help the longevity of the tan. There were no spots where I was uneven and I had a natural bronzed glow. The owner of slate also has an amazing customer service. I have used Slate for both my own wedding and for other weddings and it always comes out great! I love that there are a lot of opportunities to save on the tan, which can be a bit pricey, by referring friends and signing up for their emails, etc. When you arrive, they are super friendly and make you feel very comfortable. Let's face it, getting naked in front of a total stranger and letting them spray stuff all over your body while you try to have a conversation is totally awkward--at Slate, I've never felt bad being in front of someone, and actually usually learn a lot about the process and training they go through, etc. There are various levels of tans, and my Best advice would be to start lighter and work your way up to make sure the level you get looks natural. Highly recommend! I have come to Slate twice in the last year when I have been in town. It is such a great experience - it came highly recommended by friends and it lives up to the hype. They are quick and professional. The solution is natural and doesn't smell like a regular spray booth smell. This last time I went they even had a finishing spray that helped me not feel sticky like you always do after a spray tan! The first time I went I actually got sprayed in the morning and had a rehearsal dinner that night and didn't look like I hadn't showered from a spray tan like an ordinary booth spray makes you look/feel. So I used SLATE because of the stellar reviews. It's definitely the nicest and fanciest tanning salon I've been to. The space is beautiful and the staff is super friendly and great. But at the end of the day what matters is the tan. I did everything they asked (exfoliated, wore loose clothes, no lotion or deodorant) and I still ended up with streaks. Thankfully they're in more discrete places so I don't have to worry about the family pictures happening this weekend at my nephews wedding, but I'm disappointed in the product. All in all, I won't be going back. UPDATE: I was contacted by the owner of the salon the day after my spray as a follow up. I explained that I wasn't pleased with the experience. She refunded my complete purchase price AND offered to book a free tan with her personally taking care of me. I am VERY impressed with the customer service and her desire to stand by her product. I have been to Slate twice now and I'm never going anywhere else for a spray tan. They have great customer service and their ladies make you feel totally comfortable throughout the entire process. I went in wanting a dark color and was advised going too dark, on my fair skin, would look unnatural. I really appreciate a place that is honest and looks out for their customers best interest.
