I want to say this because I don't see or hear anyone else doing it. I have never met or seen a more dedicated group of people working so hard to save an organization. I am so impressed with each person I have met there. They give so much to keep what may be the best kept secret in Norwich going! I think you should check them out! I attended a movie night recently and they were showing the movie recently released about the life of Steven Hawking. The theater was surprisingly comfortable and the quality of the viewing and sound were superb. Okay, the seats were not like a movie theater. But you could even buy popcorn. And the most surprising thing of all is that not one of these people gets paid to do what they do. And when I went to a meeting with some friends tonight at the gallery I got a preview of a fabulous show the volunteers were mounting for the art faculty of the local community college. If you enjoy viewing fine art, you do not want to miss this show! Since I first moved into Norwich I was told that downtown was to be avoided. But I have been there and eaten wonderful foods and walked all over and been in some fabulous small shops and not a single person ever threatened to mug me. No one even came near. I think it is time to dispense with a rumor that causes more suffering than anything else in Norwich. Check out downtown for yourself and don't miss the NAC's doings!

We were looking for an activity that would be fun for a multigenerational group of 23 people with toddlers, seniors, and everyone in between. We had been in communication with Oliver for months in advance. About two weeks before the big day, we saw that the forecast called for showers throughout Memorial Day weekend, particularly the Sunday of our planned cruise. We monitored the weather and decided to make a decision closer to the day. Throughout the entire process of planning, Oliver was responsive, reliable, accommodating, and kind. On the morning of the trip, Oliver gave us multiple options and worked with us to make sure that we could cancel and get a full refund due to the inclement weather. He provided us with agency up to the last hour of decision making. On a day that could have been really stressful, Oliver alleviated some of that stress. That is exceptional customer service, and that is the reason we will be coming back to the Argia for another special occasion. We took a sunset cruise on the Argia, which is the last commercial sailing ship left in Mystic,…read morewhen we were visiting Mystic with a couple of friends on the Fourth of July. The boat has different seating options - wooden benches and cushion seats without backrests. We reserved two of the cushioned areas and showed up ready to check in on time (they ask you to show up about 30 minutes before boarding to check in). You board at the dock just next to the bridge in Mystic, so it couldn't be more convenient if you're exploring Mystic for a day or a weekend. The Argia allows you to bring alcohol (wine and beer) on board (although they ask that you not bring large coolers - there's no room for them), so we brought a couple of bottles of wine bought from the great wine shop down the street. The sail is partly narrated. Our sail was two hours long, and the staff narrated for some of the sailing time - pointing out historic and interesting sites along the sail (islands with an interesting history, homes with interesting architecture, etc.). Between the gorgeous scenery, some narration of fun and interesting facts about Mystic and its harbor, the great wine we'd brought aboard, and great company - it was the perfect way to spend a couple of hours in Mystic. What a beautiful way to enjoy Mystic and its harbor!

Unfortunately, they sell them through TicketMaster and after all the fees, you end up paying $36 and change for the ticket. You can buy them at local shops around CT, but I live in Boston. One of the best things about the event is that it's held at Mohegan Sun. Why, you ask? Well, if you need a break from the convention or it's just too crowded you can get a bracelet and step out into the casino and there's plenty to see, eat, or even gamble! I saw soooo many people just sitting on the floor eating food they got at the little concession stand outside the entrance when there are literally 10 other food options if you step out from the convention and walk 5 minutes. I really liked that there were an abundance of comic book vendors. I've been to other conventions (Boston comes to mind) where they are few and far between. Lots of digging to be done and lots of $1 bins to go through. Photo ops and autographs aren't really my thing, but if they are the lineup of celebrity guests was a little...eh. I'm a little surprised to see how many people were waiting for...wait for it...Val Kilmer...in 2019. The other big name was Billy Dee Williams. Eh. Again, photo ops and autographs aren't my thing. My husband and I have been coming to Mohegan Sun for the past 25 years. The decor is stunning,…read morestaff is friendly, spa is a favorite, restaurants are good. So why 3 stars. For many years we've had problems with the AC in our room. It seems to go into some kind of eco mode during the night. It only runs if there's movement in the room which is not ideal if trying to sleep. on numerous occasions we've complained. Engineering has come to our room and sometimes they would bypass the conservation mode. On this last visit I went to the front desk the morning after our first night and they did admit people do complain. We had booked a 3 night stay but left after two. Neither my husband or I could bear another night of getting on and off the bed to get the AC going. So we came home with a fuller wallet because our play time was cut short. Guys, this is penny wise pound foolish. Shame on Mohegan Sun for not ensuring sleeping comfort for their guests.
