    Lavender state of mind

Lavender farms in Long Island, East Marion, New York. Such a beautiful place to grab some selfies and also some lavenders if you please. Such a gorgeous and wonderfully smelling place nestled near the beautiful wine country of Long Island New York. Must see, this place is. Especially when you are nearing this area of the wine country. Verdict - Lovely and memorable

I've been a big fan of Lavender by the bay ever since I saw their outpost in the Union Square green market, where they sold various lavender products. Last weekend I had the opportunity to visit their original farm out of East Marion in the midst of the July bloom season. The farm itself is midsized and actually smaller than I expected for the entry price of $13 per person. I felt like it was a bit high since you don't actually get to pick any lavender, and there were no tours or other activities besides taking pictures. I think one can reasonably cover the whole farm in 30 mins, even though your ticket covers a 2 hour timeslot. There were definitely a lot of photo friendly spots. You can certainly get some good photos without a big crowd in the background. The website recommended wearing closed toe flat shoes because the terrain can be hilly and gravelly but I did not have any issues walking around in flip-flops. Parking is a small gravelly area directly outside of the farm and tends to fill up fast. I'd say arrive before 1pm if you want a good spot. Lastly there is a small gift shop with some great products. I picked up a bottle of lavender hydrosol, but would have loved to get a jar of lavender honey as well but it was unfortunately not available until the fall.

Such a cool spot and smells awesome!!! People are so friendly. A relaxing spot to chill for a bit. Pick up some form of lavender.

Love purple? A cool place to check out if you are in this neck of the woods. This is a 17 acre farm with over 80,000 lavender plants. A nice place to take some pictures of the lush field of fragrant purple lavender. Make sure to check the website on when the lavender is in full bloom. That's the best time to go for the strong vibrant purple color effect, Otherwise you will see more green of the lavender plant, which is still nice but not as pretty. The best summer bloom is typically in June and July, which is also dependent upon how much it rains. Cool brightly colored adirondack chairs and loungers are scattered though out the fields, that make a great photo opportunity. For those that don't want to hang out in the beating sun to take pictures, in the middle of the field, there is a larger covered wood deck with bench seating. On the property is also a cute little store that sells a variety of lavender products. From live plants, cool t-shirts, little scented satchets, even lavender honey (seasonal and limited). Everything is lavender focused. Bathroom. They have a luxury trailer with several stalls plus running water and air conditioning. Final note: You might spend only an hour here so have some other activities in mind, for after your visit here. During prime bloom time, you might want to get here as early as possible, to avoid the crowds. Also there is a $9 admission fee.

Lavender by the Bay is an interesting diversion for about an hour or so if you're in the area. For many people, the main reason to visit this place is to take some personal and family photos in the lavender fields while they are in full bloom -- from about mid-June to early July. During these times, Lavender by the Bay charges admission to the lavender fields for anyone aged 12 and up: $9 on the weekend and holidays, and $7 on the weekdays -- plus tax. The farm has an air-conditioned trailer for its bathrooms. Do consult the farm's website for information updates on the best days to visit. Arrive early to minimize the presence of other people in your wide-angle photos. The lavender fields aren't actually continuous fields of lavender, but rows of separate lavender bushes. They weren't quite in full bloom when we visited in late June, but there was still enough to create the illusion that we were in a beautiful purple sea.

My dog loved walking between the rows and sniffing the air of lavender. 3

All of the photos are accurate. It has always been a photo op of a place because the lavender is so beautiful and it's such a serene place so I'll just give you the facts and tips on each location since I've been at both and that'll help you decide which one to go to. Land: The Calverton one is much larger than the one in East Marion. A ton more acreage and a few more areas to sit down than the other location. Animals: Both are dog friendly but the Calverton one has a chickens on their land so be mindful of that when you bring your pet. Giftshops: The prices are the same but the shop in East Marion has a physical retail shop that you can go into and houses more lavender products like lotions, candles, pillows etc. The shop in Calverton is just a roped in outdoor area in front of the lavender field that sells mostly cuts and has a smaller selection of retail products by comparison. It's less of a "boutique" experience. Areas: not one area is more scenic than the other. Both are pretty deserted and if you wanted to spend a day in the area, you'd have to drive elsewhere to shop or eat. The Riverhead outlets are nearby the Calverton location but also there's a cute BBQ shop a little more than 5 minutes away and a wonderful nursery that you can wander in if you wanted to continue a nature-themed trip. If you were in East Marion, depending on when you visit and what time, the neighboring places are closed pretty early or they don't open till later so the next best town to go to is in Greenport which is fine cause it's heading back West, so it won't be out of your way really. And they've got a lovely little village for you to enjoy before you head all the way back home. Hope this helps!

Great stop for photos, hanging out, chilling with the chickens or kicking back in one of their shaded seating areas

It was in the early July timeframe that we stumbled onto this sizeable farm growing Lavender plants everywhere. There were acres of purple fields with wandering visitors from all parts of the world taking snap selfies. The visual experience was surreal in some way since the Lavender purple farm seem to appear out of nowhere in a very peaceful setting. It was wonderful to be standing in this picturesque purple encompassing farm of Lavender. After being isolated for so long because of the pandemic, this was exactly what the doctor ordered. One could experience positive energy waves that projected themselves from the field of purple. It was just wonderful! Meanwhile, the lavender that has been cut is available for sale along with other lavender produced products. Definitely worth the visit especially before it once again becomes very crowded with visitors.

Finally I was able to come to this place. Been waiting since last year to wait for the Bloom. Check the website or sign up with email for updates on the bloom for the English and the French Lavender. This place is located alllll the way to the top of North Fork in Marion. Above Greenpoint. Be prepared that it will be crowded on weekends especially during blooming season. I mean - me and my friends weren't thinking that maybe we would miss the crowd if we went early in the morning but NOPE - it was already crowded by the time we got there . And it was worse when we left. Maybe consider coming during the week for better photo ops and a more relaxing visit. Otherwise - it will be hard to get good photos without other people in them , or sitting in the Adirondack chairs or even the line in the gift shop even tho it was fast. Entrance on weekends/holidays is $9 per person and $6 during the week. Bathrooms are porta potties. Lots of parking - gravel road . Also parking along the sides of the street opposite from the entrance. There are a ton of bees but we were told that they don't bother people and they were right. They are too busy all up on the lavender lol. Thank god I wore pants tho - I felt more comfortable. There are lots of gift options . Sachets , candles , pillow sprays. I was a lil bummed that my pillow spray was not that flagrant as sprays I've bought other places . I will use it but I was a little disappointed. You will spend one - maybe two hours here if you take you're time. Good advice would be to make a day or weekend out of it in North Fork. Hit some wineries - check out Greenpoint or Riverhead. Or go to Montauk. I would come back another time maybe if I was out here during the week. Nonetheless- I was able to scratch this place off my to-do list and it was definitely a plus for my weekend out in North Fork :)

I came here on a Sunday morning with a group of 5 people. Because of COVID-19, they have a limited number of timed tickets to purchase online. The times were 9am, 11am, 1pm, and 3pm. It's $12 for East Marion field and $10 for Calverton field. The East Marion field was larger (17 acres, 80,000 plants) so we decided to go there. You get a maximum of 1.5 hours. If you get there earlier, they let you in though. You need to buy it as soon as they release the tickets (week to week) or else it sells out fast. There was less people especially if you go earlier in your timeslot. We spent one hour here and it was enough time for us to take all our pictures. The store sells fresh and dried lavender but it was pretty pricey. There's no bathroom at the farm due to COVID-19 though. It's a bit far from NYC but it's nice getaway during COVID-19 times.

Let me preface this: although living on Long Island, I'm not its biggest fan. Crazy, I know? But when I heard that amidst the endless vineyards that dot the North Fork, there was a sprawling, fragrant and absolutely charming lavender field tucked away... well, that may just swing my mind. Once I found out about the fields, I got online and saw on their social media that it was likely the last weekend the French lavender would be in bloom, so, with everyone else unavailable to trek out there, I made the drive myself and wandered around for about an hour in the fields. That's all I could really handle as my eyes got a bit itchy. So I suggest packing allergy medicine, just in case. This farm is charming and it's wonderful to see friendly bees hard at work. Lots of people were enjoying the stunning vistas and were just having a good time taking beautiful and silly Instagram pictures. Everyone just seemed at peace and it was nice to witness that. I bought 3 sachets and put one in my car, placing it right in front of my AC, so as I drove throughout the day I was hit with waves of wonderful lavender. I hope to return next year, earlier in the season and support again.

Great place to visit. I had such an amazing time. Beautiful and peaceful. with the pandemic I look for safe adventures and this place was the perfect place. They sell a limited amount of tickets for the field to ensure that social distancing is implicated

Lavender is a lovely color, but it's also a flower used for many things (you probably knew this). But did you know about the field of lavender being grown out on Long Island (maybe I got you on that one)? Regardless, it's a sight worth seeing, though be sure to visit at the right time. I say that last statement because my girlfriend and I visited Lavender by the Bay at the end of the summer. It was actually a great time to go from a crowd standpoint as it was relatively empty and gave us a more casual and relaxing experience through the fields. The cover charge for said fields was also waived (due to lateness in the season) which was a nice topper. The negative about the end of the summer? Not a lot of lavender. You'll walk through plenty of areas where you can check this Yelp page, Facebook, Snapchat (pick a social media outlet!) and see people wading through that flowery flower. But come towards the end of the summer, and things will be more scarce. There's still plenty of bees though so be weary of that. If you truly like your lavender it's worth the trip just to see some of what they've got growing. Plus, you can purchase several lavender-esque items (soaps, candles) as well as actual lavender (who would've thought!). We didn't get anything as we both learned that, though pretty, the smell isn't entirely for us (gasp!). Overall, Lavender by the Bay is a time sensitive spot to visit, but totally worthy of a trip especially if coming when the fields are filled. Despite that scent revelation, I'd probably return with my girlfriend just to get the full experience. Until then, I'll keep sniffin' lavender scents to see if I can grow more of a liking to it.

My young children were excited to pick strawberries, but the extreme heat made it difficult for them to continue. Since they were unable to finish filling their individual baskets, we combined what they had picked and politely asked if we could exchange it for one of the many pre-filled baskets available at the front counter. We had already paid and were simply trying to accommodate our children's comfort and safety. The older blonde woman working at the front was incredibly rude. Rather than listening to our request, she raised her voice and spoke harshly to both me and my child. There was no reason for the interaction to become confrontational, especially when dealing with a family and a child who was clearly uncomfortable from the heat. Customer service and kindness go a long way, and unfortunately neither was shown during our visit. Because of this experience, we will not be returning and cannot recommend Patty's Bunches and Berries to other families.
