Pros: The team is friendly and appointments always start on time. A special shoutout to the team that does the in lab tests because they make a weird and awkward experience as pleasant as possible. Cons: Even if everything goes 'right' (by which I mean, diagnosis is clear and scheduling works in your favor) it can be a long process. If a diagnosis isn't clear, it can be a REALLY long process. In addition, nothing gets added to the patient portal unless you explicitly ask for it to be uploaded. It can be hard to know something is wrong and not be able to act on it, and the tests all add up to a significant amount of money and a huge investment of time - though they're very good about getting authorizations and letting you know costs upfront (this is partly what contributes to the length of time in the process). I appreciate the diligence and not getting unnecessarily treated for something I don't have, but it can be hard to wait for appointments when you can't get better until you have them. In my case, I was really distressed at facing more weeks before treatment, and the team came together to get me an earlier appointment at another office, and make things happen much more quickly, so if you're willing to be flexible, they are as well. Update - I've been told they're hiring more staff, and I've seen the 'welcome to the team' notices, so I believe this will get better. read more

The other reviews are true. I just wish that I have read the previous yelp reviews before going to the clinic. It is IMPOSSIBLE to get a hold of anyone. Your call will always be going to a voicemail and I never see that they return any of the voicemail. I have never see a business offering medical care so unresponsive. Legendary level of unprofessionalism. They will send you docs to docusign over and when you finish completing the docusign, they say it is missing signature! Docusign will show it is completed. The person administering the sleep study and the mask fitting, they were really nice to me though. -- EDIT: Response to Sondi C (2/25/2025) -- Penny did reach out to me 7 days after receiving the voicemail. She was also nice and professional to me. This is not a review about the personnel. It is about the system you had in place for communication. And this is not a one time thing. Previously on Jan 10th. I had an online appointment at 3:00 pm. I was not sure whether it would be a zoom call or a voice call. Your staff never confirmed that with me. I got a call from Sleep Health at 3, but I missed the call while receiving it. I called back to the number on that instant but then went to the voicemail. Repeatedly. Nobody answered the voicemail. Sleep Health MD is dysfunctional with poorly trained staff. They don't answer the phone. They don't call you back when you call or text. The phone disconnected a couple times during calla, and they don't even call you back. There's more: They sent me to Sunnyvale (over a 30-min drive without traffic) to pick up the sleep study ring and get a 5-minute overview of how to use the ring with the phone app. When I arrived at the time THEY scheduled me for, the receptionist said there were no technicians available and that I'd need to come back. It told them I'm not driving back again b/c of their error. Could they just give me the ring or mail it to me and someone could do the 5-min training over the phone...? They said no, I have to drive back. I won't drive back again. I called the office several more times and finally got ahold of the manager, and she reassured me they'd make things right and they could in fact mail me the ring (contrary to what the receptionist said). I'm really busy with my own job, and when I followed up a week or two later I got the same non-response when I called and left VMs on the phone or texted them - they just don't respond. I finally got ahold of the office manager and told her that because their staff are untrained, they are disorganized, and they don't communicate adequately, it is a clear risk to rely on Sleep Health MD for something as important as my health. I told them to waive the consultation fee I did with one of their doctors, because it was a waste of money - I can't trust and will not use their services. I will need to start over and pay a reliable sleep doctor to get the care I need. Alas, to add insult to injury, Sleep Health MD even has the nerve to refuse to refund me for the consultation that is of no use to me. It's clear Sleep Health MD's main objective is to make money, not to provide valuable services to their patients/customers. Stay away from Sleep Health MD. read more

Was referred here by my GP and while I liked Dr. Katzenberg when I was seeing him, the whole operation strikes me as a poorly-run sleep apnea machine mill. My issues: (1) When they first gave me my machine it didn't work. I had to back in for an appointment and the doctor said, "hum, they seem to have set your machine at a pediatric pressure (8) and they didn't even use the machine's in-built ability to vary the pressure to give you what you need and no more." Huge mistake IMHO and he said it matter of factly as if it were no big deal. Of course, I spent a few weeks not sleeping well, still having numerous apneas per hour, and with the machine saying I had "periodic breathing" a sign of central sleep apnea which is much scarier than obstructive. All because the pressure was inexplicably set too low (by another doctor in the prescription, not the tech) (2) They bury you in sales, they won't just sell you the machine but instead break it into lots of payments without asking what you want to do and they send you tons of messages and calls about accessories. I want a doctor, not a sales operation. (3) They don't call you back quickly and don't do much if anything over email. (4) They sold me a Philips CPAP machine but NEVER INFORMED ME IT WAS RECALLED. They knew what they sold me. They knew it was recalled. The have a moral and professional obligation to close that loop. They didn't. I learned via an email from Phillips that I happened to find literally in my spam messages. (5) Katzenberg, the best thing about the place AFAICT, is no longer there. read more

It's a nightmare. They will try to get you to buy equipment that you really don't need. Then, they will harrass you for ever to keep buying replacement parts and filter for them. They will be calling you every week and get upset if you don't agreeto.order more stuff for the machine they convinced you buy. They are not good in figuring out how to bill things to he insurance either, so every step is a pain, because they will end up charging you sometimes thousands for few filters that you are not even sure you need, and then having to waste hours in discussion to see if someone can pay for that. Don't get drawn into it. At the end, just a.relaxation app and a log of your sleep paterns is the quick conclusion to weeks of their sleep therapy. Nothing you can't get online on your ow. read more

The mattress was cheap & extremely uncomfortable. It was like trying to sleep on a very soft sponge that causes the body to sink in and provides no support whatsoever. Motel6 could've done no worse. I had a backache for 3 days following the "study". It took longer than that to recover from the lack of sleep and a very very uncomfortable night. The room was also very unpleasant - freezing cold with an AC/ fan that periodically cycled very noisily. Plus various LED lights that could not be shut off or dimmed. The only positive was the Technician (Celesta)... she was very nice and very gentle. read more

One year later and I'm still getting messages from the billing department about a bill they claim is due. I had received confirmation that this would be handled and that I had a zero balance and that I would not be contacted further by the company. My first visit or two here was fine, nothing out of the ordinary, but as I started to have problems with my cpap settings and mask it became harder and harder to contact this place for an appointment. I had to wait at least 6 weeks in between every appointment I had which is a long time for someone desperately trying to improve their quality of sleep. The last straw with me for this place is never calling me back for a follow up appointment that THEY called me about scheduling. When I call the line is just empty silence and leaving messages on the website does absolutely nothing. I also felt like the Doctor wasn't 100% listening to my concerns with the mask type I was prescribed. He seemed more interested in showing off his knowledge of sleep medicine rather than helping me with my specific problem. The nice thing I can say about this place was the employee who did my mask consult with me the first time was very nice and helpful. I will definitely be looking to switch providers though given that this place doesn't seem to care about getting back to struggling patients in a timely manner. read more

The office is fine and the desk staff can be helpful. Watch out for the charges as they can pile up quickly and without awareness. The doctors seems to have snarky comments for the other offices, but I think in general they want to help. They aren't very good at training you on the use of the machine so it seems like a typical American health care fast food experience. I see experiences similar to mine here dating back to 2018 - so there seems to be something systematically wrong. The worst part is communications. They have a portal but messages there are lost to the void. When you call you never get an answer - you sit there waiting and then get dropped into voicemail. Sure they call you back - but of course if you have other things on your schedule you may not be able to answer - so you end up playing phone tag. Also generally unhappy with the feeling that the whole process is just designed to tie you to a CPAP machine. They are somewhat dismissive of alternatives saying CPAP is the most effective. That may be true, but CPAP at higher pressure just pushes air into my stomach, it isn't working for me, and I feel like it will be easier to explore alternatives on my own (sleep position, exercises to strengthen upper airway, etc.) read more

I was a patient here for years and finally left. They will do everything they can to waste your time and take your money. Be prepared to require a full specialist visit anytime you have any questions or need assistance. My CPAP machine was recalled and they won't replace it without a full *in-person* office visit. My Sleep study appointment was scheduled for Dec 21, 2021 at 7:30 PM. They sent me a message at 6:28 PM that same night cancelling my study. I was already on my way to my appointment, DRIVING AT NIGHT in the POURING RAIN!!! I am a 71 y o senior woman who has not driven at night, much less in pouring rain and it was with great difficulty and stress to get to my appointment. Their technician had a last minute emergency and I'm sorry for him/her, but that is NOT MY PROBLEM. How convenient that I was the only patient for that technician that night instead of 3! Let's reverse the situation - What if I cancelled 1 hour before? They would've charged me the full amount. What do I get when the cancelled my appointment 1 hour before? NOTHING!!! I had a consultation with Dr. Bhavim Desai when I went to sleep health MD clinic in Los Gatos. Absolutely worst experience and I really don't know how he is in this field. Specifically I had a couple of follow up questions and he just shrugged his shoulders and said as if I don't know what else to do. Also it was virtual visit and he kept asking did you do a specific test. It was a medical jargon I did not understand and he kept repeating the same test name. Finally I had to login in the middle of the session to check test name and confirm for him. Seriously you are a doctor and shouldn't you have the patient records/file in front of you ? If you did have the test records in front then why would you want to keep asking same thing when the patient is saying they can't remember test name but this is how the test was conducted. Good luck expecting any empathy from this doctor. He is not in the right profession. read more

I wish I'd read these reviews before seeing Sleep Health MD. It was predetermined from the time I walked in the office that they were going to declare I had sleep apnea and that I'd waste a huge amount of time with their inefficient communications. Every single person I spoke to commented on what good insurance I had, so it gives you some idea what they're focused on. The operation is poorly run, the staff seem nice enough, but they're a time suck. And in my case, the CPAP machine provided no benefit whatsoever. I started having doubts about the company with the initial forms I had to fill out. Some of the questions were repeated multiple times. It took and hour to go through all the forms. Obviously they are not too concerned about the customer experience. So I insisted on getting cost quotes before the services were performed. I got verbal quotes on the initial consultation, sleep study, and follow up consultation. I have been overcharged on all three. My quotes totaled $514.95. I have been charged 825.89. I have tried repeatedly to get them to honor the pricing they gave me without success. My sleep study went fine. Fortunately they did not find any sleep issues. read more

Only on step 3 was I informed that I was in the middle of an extremely lengthy 7 step process that I'm no longer sure I even want to complete. This whole operation seems to be set up in a way to extract the most time and money from the patient. First appt is a consultation (which took 2-3 weeks to get) where they just give you the ins and outs of what they do and then schedule you for a sleep study. For some reason, you then have to wait 3-4 weeks for an appt with a tech just to show you (and a few other people) how to use the sleep testing equipment. I should also mention they have strict return policy (need to return by x time on x day or you are charged $100) however that didn't stop them from randomly closing their office the day I was supposed to return the equipment. They sent me a text informing me of this 20 minutes after I showed up to their locked office. Then I had my follow up maybe 2 weeks later, where the doctor (who was nearly an hour late for my appointment) confirmed that a CPAP may be useful. But instead of starting the process, I had to make another appt to come back in 4 weeks to get fitted for a mask, another appt 2-3 weeks after that for some random reason I still don't fully understand, then my final appointment (where I'd get my ACTUAL equipment) was scheduled for JANUARY. I first called Sleep Health MD in June! That 7 days of PTO and missed worked, 7 specialist co-pays (totaling over $200 out of pocket for me). I don't understand why the time between appointments is so long or why there are so many of them. If you have all the time and money in the world, maybe Sleep Health MD is for you. I'm going to start looking for other providers. read more

Worst experience ever. I tried the cpap, didn't like it and needed to return it. They asked me to setup an appointment just to return the machine. So they charged me another 200 dollars. Also, the diagnosis 95% of the time from what I determined was sleep apnea. I feel like they diagnose this with every patient where the sleep behavior can't be determined. read more

had a ent that wanted to send me to his sleep specialist. uhc had me use these operators.no one would return calls and when they did it was to reschedule me and in turn i had to reschedule w/my ent,who was waiting for results. i knew this was going to be a waste of time. was given what looked like dilapidated sensor equipment to wear to sleep. of course, it seemed to fault every 2 minutes,all night ,seemingly not functioning correctly. when i told dr. kratzanburg,he said they check them all the time. he also said he was going to order me new cpap machine.after a couple months,i left a message and havent heard back.im sure there making money,but results are poor. read more

Dr. Huseni is an amazing doctor and super patient. She does a great job explaining the many aspects of sleep and really cares and listens to her patients. The best part about this clinic is that they allow you to try multiple types of masks to make it easier for you to find one that works for you. I also did a sleep study here and the sleep rooms were very nice (reminded me of a hotel room) the beds were comfortable and there was nice artwork on the walls. The facilities are clean and the staff is friendly and responsive. Highly recommended if you are looking for a sleep doctor! read more

Of 4 employees there - 3 looked like they had not combed their hair the entire day. All had wrinkled like just picked up off the floor clothes. 1 with dirty shoes. wth Even the MD had a wrinkled lab coat and hair all over. Dr H was nice but very casual and reminded me that all the MD's were Stanford trained which is why I should be OK with this poor behavior and unprofessional appearances. And the terrible experience at the other clinic. When we had a question about equipment - neither the Doctor or 2 assistants could answer but there was a sleep technician that just happened to still be in the office and he luckily was able to answer. He actually acted and looked professional/medical. The office was chaotic though they had been open a few months and looking in at their new sleep study rooms there were twin murphy beds with just a mattress on a platform. omg - so cheap. read more

I would never use this practice again. It is the most disorganized practice I have ever been associated with and I've had a lot of medical care. They didn't return phone calls, they insisted I put a credit card on file for a CPAP machine but then made other unauthorized charges to the card, the doctor repeatedly said he was going to make changes to my CPAP settings but I found out by going to a different practice that he never did. They would call me with threats about failing to sign contracts I had never heard of. Finally, they are still billing me two years later for services I may or may not have received and may or may not have already paid for (who can remember two years and a cross country move later). They refused to bill my secondary insurance. There was only one reasonable person in that practice (Penny) and she could not make up for the mess that was everything else. Stay far away. read more

The facility, different from the current one listed, was in total disarray and was in the midst of trying to work out why their systems were not working. the MD was very apologetic about the situation and performed the initial consult. i went away with the idea that I would need to have their technician assess the CPAP machine and may need another sleep study performed this was about 2 months ago. have had no more communication of follow up. just very disappointed with the lack of care / follow up /communication since the consult 2 months ago. had one voicemail last week - asking about insurance coverage, so they do have my number! I thought I was going to have a sleep study performed this past evening. Instead I experienced a surreal nightmare at the Sunnyvale facility of Sleep Health MD. If I could give a negative rating I would. After a promising consult with a Dr. Huseni who seemed knowledgeable and thoughtful, I was looking forward to gaining more insight to my sleeping challenges with a in patient clinical sleep study. But the sleep study experience degenerated from disappointing, to unprofessional, to outright hostile. From the get go the staff of technicians seemed inexperienced, and were not forthcoming about the process when I inquired.(One technician asked for my consent to have a 'trainee' participate so perhaps that was part of the problem). I started to have serious concerns about their competency when they seemed to struggle with actually hooking the sensors on to my body, and not knowing what went where. I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt, and approached the study with an open mind, consenting to the invasive intrusions when they have to wake you up frequently to readjust the nodes and sensors. But what was unacceptable was the technicians creating a loud and disturbing environment,(not conducive to sleeping),and not respecting my wishes as a patient to be left alone. The sound travels throughout the facility, and despite being in a sleeping room at the exact opposite end of the monitoring station I could hear the techs clearly talking, laughing, and generally being loud, and creating noise as if they were in a day time office environment. Furthermore, the plumbing was audible throughout my room, and cameras also had a loud 'whirring' noise that was difficult to tune out. How is anyone supposed to get sleep in this environment?! Most likely because the anxiety this experience produced I woke up alarmed at my unfamiliar surroundings and began to remove the the sleep monitoring equipment. The unprofessional staff than barged into my room, harshly turned on the lights, and were very threatening about the removal of the equipment. I asked them to leave and please leave me alone for the duration of the evening. Not 30 minutes went by until they were loud in their office again. I walked over and knocked on the door, and asked them to please stop being loud. I then was woken up 30 minutes later by more loud noises in the office lobby, and open the door to find that two Sunnyvale police officers had been summoned! After processing the initial affront of being told by the Officers that the techs told them I was the one causing a disturbance, I reluctantly acquiesced to leave the facility voluntary in the middle of the night,(approx. 3:30am), after discussing the surreal absurdity of the situation with the reasonable and professional Sunnyvale police officers Renzi and Meyer. What kind of medical facility,(allegedly focused on helping people with sleep disorders), actively undermines the well being and treatment of their patient?! The unprofessional treatment I experienced was truly mind boggling. This establishment will be lucky if they don't get sued for gross misconduct and malpractice. STAY FAR AWAY IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR HEALTH AND WANT TO BE TREATED BY COMPETENT PROFESSIONALS. read more

At first, I had some difficulty with Sleep Health MD. My HMO would not approve an in-office sleep study, so I was forced to do two take-home studies. Of course, this is not their fault. That's what I get for having an HMO. Well, the first study was scheduled for two nights. I followed the instructions exactly and wore it for two nights as I slept. I returned it and was informed that the machine did not register any data. Apparently the SIM card was corrupted. So, they did not bill the insurance and signed me up for another one. I did that one for two nights and again, it registered no information. No explanation was ever given for this and I would liked to have known if it was operator error, machine error, etc. After that, they finally got it cleared for me to have an in-office study. Well, on the day that this in-office study was to occur, I received a call stating that I had been scheduled for one office but approved by my insurance for another office. At this point, this entire process had taken over two months. This was extremely frustrating, but I received a phone call from the office manager. She apologized profusely and promised to get it right. The appropriate appointment was scheduled and I received a personal apology in the mail with a small gift included. While all of this was concerning, I consider this situation fully resolved and am impressed with their determination to make it right. Considering all of that, I would probably have given them three stars. Like I said, I consider that problem resolved and did not come here to complain about it. I came here to talk about my experience at the in-office study at 260 S. Sunnyvale Ave. It was such a positive experience that it completely eliminated all of the reservations I had about Sleep Health MD. Upon arriving, I was met by Leah, the Overnight Tech. She showed me my room and returned to finish up on the other patient that was in there. This room is fantastic. I'm not sure what I was expecting, but this didn't feel like a laboratory at all. It felt like a nice little hotel. They have soft sheets, a quiet room, a tv and even Netflix to watch! They make sure the room is comfortable and adjust the temperature to your liking. Leah finished up with the other patient and came and got me all hooked up. Yes, there are a lot of wires and it is difficult to sleep with. But, they had already set me up with a prescription for some Ambien so be sure and ask for that from your doctor. It's prescription so give yourself some time to fill it. I'm not sure if the Techs are allowed to administer medication so you will have to bring it along. Again, Leah was so gentle and calming while she hooked everything up. She explained every wire and what it was for and made sure I was comfortable. She offered to bring me water if I needed it. When it was required to wake me to fix the wires or shift positions, she was very gentle and did not startle me at all. She even brought me coffee in the morning in this nice little reusable mug! It was some of the best customer service I have ever received from medical personnel. I hope that she receives commendation for it. MY PERSONAL OPINION IN REFERENCE TO CONCERNS FROM PREVIOUS REVIEWER: Don't let that review scare you. Yes, they have to come in periodically to fix the wires and get you to try to sleep on your back so that they can properly register any snoring. These types of things are expected and any person with critical thinking skills should be able to deduce this. If you are unable to come to this conclusion and become so outraged that they have to call the police on you, then you are likely completely out of line. It's their property and you agreed to a medical study. If you don't like it, leave. But, you can't tell them to get out of the room when there is not a reasonable expectation of privacy. You're paying for a medical procedure, not a temporary abode like a hotel. read more
