This is not a new hotel but I've been to newer ones that were not maintained as well as this one. I love walking in and the lobby is nice and fresh, and inviting. Such was the case here. It gives me hopes of a decent room and stay and this one didn't disappoint. That's all I hope for with a room: clean bed and bathroom with no bugs. They got it right. She placed me in a different room since mine wasn't ready and I'm glad I didn't have to wait. Room was clean, modern, spacious, and quiet. The only problem with the room were the electrical outlets attached to the 2 bedside lamps. They were loose and presented an electrical hazard. (Room 301). Breakfast was a disappointment. No English muffins or bagles. Coffee was extremely weak. No cream for the coffee. Eggs and sausage were very salty. read more

I have a routine. I leave MA later in the afternoon so that I could avoid most of the CT, NY and NJ traffic. It works out pretty well unless it's raining; add +2 hours. If it's snowing, add +4. If raining and snowing, add +6-8. If a deer is hit, no time added. When I get to the first service station in Delaware, I rest for a couple of hours. I drive to Skippers, VA (Exit 4) and rest for a couple more hours. By this time, I am rejuvenated and have the energy I need to keep up with my boy. It HAS worked out great. I always stay in Smithfield, NC, The Sleep Inn & Suites. Not just because it's halfway between where he lives and all the action in Raleigh, or that the prices, modernization and amenities are better than most in this area. But because of how Owen is treated. I feel that I get treated great! My name is known, my preferences are always discussed and my feedback is heard. Owen on the other hand gets red carpet treatment; he gets a lot of love from the staff here. Most of the time they get ignored (because he's shy) but that doesn't stop them from coming up to him, welcoming him back, seeing and waving him off and asking about him. If there is chalk on the ground by the pool, they know it's Owen. If the elevator is going up and down without anyone getting off, it could be Owen.........or me. He's gotten gifts from the staff like Stone Cold gift cards, treats and minion bubbles but yesterday we got the biggest gift of all (by we I actual mean myself). I am active duty Navy with 19 and half years of Service. At 38, although not old, I'm no spring chicken anymore. Apparently, sleep is very important and I haven't been getting much of it as of late. I left normal time and didn't even hit any traffic. I stopped in New Jersey, twice: a 30 minute rest at the Vince Lombardi service area so that I can make it to my normal Delaware stop but that didn't happen. I made it to a service area only a few miles from my first stop and two hours ended up being six straight slept in the car. Today (11/6/19) was Owens birthday and he had his four year check up at 11 am that I was trying to make it to. I've only been to a couple of his doctor visits and always try to schedule my leave around those kind of events. I also wanted to get in early so that I could wrap his birthday presents that I've been so tired to do prior to coming here but didn't have time for that either. I checked in the hotel by 2 pm and was greeted and welcomed back. Owen was asked about and I told them that I was bringing him back later in the evening and that he was having a birthday party at his step dad/moms house. I mentioned that I didn't have time to wrap his gifts because I over rested and without hesitation, Nickie the General Manager, said she would wrap them and put them in the room. My revised plan was to just put the presents under the blankets and have him peel the blanket back one present at a time but looks like I didn't have to do that.....thankfully. I left her with all the gifts and wrapping paper and said she would have it all taken care of by the time I returned in a couple of hours. I left at 2:45 and returned about 6:15. Owen slept on the way and I carried him to the room. He knew he had presents there but neither of us knew what it would look like . I opened the door and found the best looking display of gifts that even I put together myself. It was a wall of presents, nicely wrapped and I didn't notice till later that Nickie also brought him cupcakes and a YUGE trash bag for the used wrapping paper. She even placed some of the fragile toys in boxes that I didn't provide and bubble wrap around one that really needed it and that again, I didn't provide. At first, Owen wasn't impressed. He was tired and waking up from a 30 min nap that could have lead to an all night slumber. Once he saw it, he got into it and unwrapped them all like a mad man......a 4 year old mad man. As a father, especially as only being physically present part time, I felt the biggest sense of relief that that went better as planned and the track record that I keep for myself is unscathed. We caught Nickie before she left and thanked her for something that she clearly didn't have to do and went above and beyond for. She and a couple of others are great every time we visit; Mary and Teresa are a couple that I always interact with during my stay and there are a lot more here who are just some awesome and caring human beings. Three stories, interior entrances, elevator, fitness room, meeting rooms. Nicer than the average Sleep Inn. The room featured a spacious shower and wall-mounted thermostat instead of the manual controls usually found on top of the HVAC unit. Free wifi worked well, as did the wall mounted tv with a good selection of channels. Comfortable bed, well-maintained room, quiet environment. Free breakfast bar featured eggs and sausage plus all the normal foods one would expect. The front desk staff was polite and professional. read more

Very comfortable room, pleasant staff, delicious full breakfast in a nicely done breakfast room. For under $100 you can't beat it. Free WiFi and HBO too. And considering it's right off I95 and with tons of shops and restaurants all around it, it's super quiet. I drive to FLA from VA quite a bit and Sleep Inns are consistently good, but this is one of the best I've been in. Be sure to check in BEFORE you go to dinner, flashing your room key gets you a 10% discount at several of the nearby restaurants. My daughter and I got a room with a King bed, it is a huge room with a sofa (I'm going to assume it pulls out but I didn't check). Nice bathroom with large walk in shower and usual amenities such as hair dryer and spa-quality soaps, shampoos etc. Water pressure a bit weak though. We're in town just for the day, daughter has a 6 hour certification test to take at the nearby community college. I asked about late check-out and they tacked on an extra hour for no additional fee, so I'm chilling out in this comfy room all morning then I'll hit the outlet shops just outside the door for the last couple of hours. Highly recommend this hotel whether you're on a budget or not. (The only bad thing is I wish they accepted pets like many of the places on the I95 corridor. It wasn't an issue this trip but I usually travel with my dog.) read more

This hotel has a nice, clean feel to it, warm and friendly staff, and a nice breakfast everyday. The rooms are decorated nicely, and the fixtures are nice. I will be staying here for business often and I'm really impressed with the property and how it's kept. The only reason it gets a 4 instead of a 5 is because the walls are a little thin. I have two groups of men staying up late on both sides of my room, so sleep isn't happening on my terms. Other than that, this place is worth the money and close to anything you would want in Smithfield. read more

I don't have much experience in the hotel hunting, when I was a kid it was Days Inn or Holiday Inn all the way, now there's Motel 6, Super 8, etc etc etc. Lucky for us Sleep Inn is cheap, clean and they serve a decent waffle breakfast in the morning. You can't really go wrong for the price, the lady at the front desk even gave us freshly baked cookies when we checked in, who does that?! Pair that with a nice view of South Carolina greens, a big screen TV and a great pillows, you've got yourself a happy camper. I'd stay here again in a heartbeat. read more

Let's start with the pros this hotel is super convenient to the outlets and restaurants. We walked. The beds are seriously so comfy, my bed at home is now not good enough. The pool is pretty shallow, good for kids! Breakfast was good as well. Cons- Upon arrival my room wasn't ready yet. That was irritating after sitting in traffic all day (I wasn't early) the employee continued to check me in and it was ready shortly. During the check in process the employee kept putting stuff on the counter and not in my hand, thats rude (yes I've worked customer service) after getting to my room we found sock sitting right at the end of the bed.. That's gross! Also the bathtub was very rough on the bottom not ideal for a young child if they require a bath vs a shower. I probably won't stay here again, the bed deserves like 3896256 stars but the customer service was lacking. read more

Sleep Inn Smithfield is a very reasonable priced hotel. The beds are comfortable the pillows are a little hard. And as always the towels in any hotel are too small. The staff is very helpful and friendly. The free breakfast is reasonably good. And is comparing convenient to I-95 and a couple of local restaurants. read more

First off let me say that the price was excellent for one night. The room was very clean and bug free compared to my other experiences of hotels while traveling I-95. My only complaint was how high the ceilings were in my room. High ceilings especially during the winter makes it hard to keep a room warm. Which was the case during my stay. read more

Very friendly place to stay. From the moment I got on the phone with Mary, she was able to help my family find a place for the night at a reasonable price which included a big breakfast. Once arrived at the hotel, the staff knew what to do thanks to the directions Mary left (she was the best thing at the hotel). When we arrived at the room we were shocked and surprised at how big and beautiful the room was. The two queen sized beds were soft and comfortable and the bathroom was huge. It was a great stay even though it was for a few hours. I recommend to anyone making a drive down south to put this place on their radar to catch some sleep in a place that is friendly, clean, comfortable and the best sleep you can get. Make sure to ask for Mary, she makes things much nicer. read more

Comfy place in a good spot. Front desk was helpful and polite. Entire facility was clean. Maybe in a little need of some updating but not unsightly or was still in good shape. Breakfast was a nice spread. Coffee and juices, eggs, sausage, selections of breads and cereal. They put out freshly baked cookies everyday at 5:30 as well; nice touch. Room was fine. I had to keep the fan/AC at a lower temp as when I returned after the first day the room was sweltering. Otherwise, it kept up. Beds were a nice comfort level. Typical "too soft or too hard" pillows but they sufficed. A larger-than-expected fridge that actually worked. Microwave. Bathroom was well stocked and cleaned. My only issues with my visit was the rolling desk chair wouldn't maintain it's height so it left me sitting very near the floor, and the shower water had a bit of a smell after running for so long. After hearing about the issues with water pressure in this area, I chalked it up to a plumbing problem and the office chair is just me being overly picky. All-in-all, a good stay. It was only minutes from a host of food and visitor sites. Right off the highway, very convenient. read more

Needed a place to stay the night on a last minute check in. AAA rate. This was perfect. The next exit was Selma (only about 1 mile away) and when check hotels even the Hampton Inn looked questionable. Glad we stayed here. Very clean! Seems relatively new. We had a real loud mouth of a older gentleman check in even later than we did. He was on his speaker phone and started hollering, "booking dot yea!!!" And all other booking dot variations. We could hear ever word of his conversation, sighs and burps. Hooray. Not sure if it's because the room was an adjoining room or the walls are thin. You may just ask for a non-adjoining room. On a brighter note, while on his speaker phone conversation this morning (SO loud) we learned we did get a better rate. read more

Stayed with wife and child in a room with 2 double beds, they where out of suite's. Room and bathroom extremely clean. WiFi was ultra fast. Room had a ref. microwave, hairdryer and iron all very clean and no malfunctions. Overall very good experience, except for the breakfast lacks an assortment. The dining area was very clean but the assortment of food was horrible. I would defiantly stay here again and have breakfast just 2 minutes away from the hotel. read more

Excellent hotel, great value, new building. My brother and I stayed here for one night on a weeknight in late January 2020. We are senior citizens and tourists, and we were traveling on I-95. This hotel was excellent, and we paid just $78 plus tax, and we were able to book the room online, just two hours in advance while driving north. I usually reserve far in advance, but on this trip I was making last-minute decisions and this hotel worked out great. It's located in a big shopping area and the hotel is surrounded by parking. The building appears to be new, with a lobby that is attractive and spacious. The free breakfast is above average in quality. The scrambled eggs were especially good. They also serve breakfast meats. The breakfast room was very nice, with newspapers, plentiful space and natural light. Our room was terrific with modern decor, fridge, microwave, coffee, large bathroom and high-quality materials. The hallways in the hotel look especially new and clean. No complaints! Good choice! read more

Stayed at this hotel on Friday August 3rd. Can't enter a review on Choice Hotels website or I would because I don't want to sign up for all those daily annoying emails. First, and last, stay at this property. My husband and I drive, sometimes together and sometimes I'm by myself, from Florida to Maryland quite often and we usually stay at the Quality Inn at the Lumberton exit. However they were full on 8-3-18 and this was about the closest hotel I could find to Lumberton that had a room available at a reasonable price. Checked in right at 3pm as I had left Florida at 6am and was very tired. The front desk staff were nice and helpful but they were having a tough time because several people were wanting to check in and apparently a lot of the rooms were still being cleaned. Fortunately for me my room was ready. I checked in, dropped my stuff off in my room and went right back out to pick up some dinner. Came back to my room to eat, watch a little tv and go to bed early. I noted that the carpets in the hotel overall looked stained and dirty (a dark color to start with to hide dirt but could definitely be changed out). My room was "clean" but the carpet looked dirty so I kept socks on, the sheets on my bed had stains on them and MOST IMPORTANTLY - the security deadbolt on my door was not working. A big deal if you're a woman traveling alone! I did not call the front desk to ask to be moved to another room. During check-in I heard them on the phone and with someone looking for a room advising that they were full for the night. So I closed the door and secured the fold over latch. Didn't feel so secure and kept waking up numerous times during the night as a result. But I figured that, with the hotel being full, someone could hear me scream. Overall hotel was quiet except for the occasional door slamming which you have to expect anywhere you travel and no matter how pricey the place is that you are staying in. Didn't try the breakfast. Just wanted to get up and get out on Saturday morning. read more

This is a beautiful, quiet, clean and wonderful hotel. I made reservations online and did not expect very much as it was off I-95. The price was affordable and it was a pleasant surprise to find such a nice place. The hotel phoned me since I was running late on check in. From the moment we arrived it was a fast and friendly check in. The hotel had a full hot breakfast. I did not try it but it looked simple and filling. The room was very comfortable and clean. Stayed here 4 nights (Sept 9-13, 2017) during Hurricane Irma, we were Florida evacuees. Great location near restaurants/nail salon/Starbucks/Cold Stone ice cream all walking distance from hotel. There's a movie theater quite near but would drive instead of walking and an Outlet shopping center a short drive away. Hotel offers complimentary breakfast every morning. Sheets are CHANGED every day. Beds and pillows were sooo comfortable, exactly what we needed after 15 hours in a car. Personnel very pleasant. Clean grounds. Small gym. Will stay again. read more

For the last 7+yrs when I drive down to Florida from New York I have stayed here in Smithfield N.C. Sleep Inn. The rooms are clean and cozy and the staff has changed over the years but they have been courteous and friendly. The area has tons to see (Carolina premium outlets, 24hr super Walmart , large movie theater , and at least 6 well known Resturant chains. Plus fast food ones. All within 1/2 - 2 mile range.)I would only recommend adding a kids playground area and the pool be indoor instead of outdoor. read more

I checked in around 7pm and greeted by very nice knowledgable people! They recommended restaurants and gave us help with our baggage! When we got our room it was very clean and looked out for. The breakfast was hot, milk was cold, and delicious! However the pool needed to be cleaned ( I don't blame them we got in around 9:30 and it closes at 10 ). Clean, quiet, reasonably priced and great customer service. The hotel is located near the Carolina Premium Outlets. There is a movie theater and a few food choices nearby (Steak, Zacyk's and Ruby Tuesday) all within walking distance. The rooms have modern furniture and this place was either recently renovated or brand new because there are no signs of wear/tear, no strange stains and no mysterious scents anywhere to be found within the rooms. This specific hotel won the Choice Preferred Platinum Award (represent the top 3% of hotels within each Choice brand. The awards are based on a ranking system that measures guest satisfaction, product quality, room condition and cleanliness, and staff service). Free breakfast with waffles, fruit, sausage, eggs, baked items, etc. This hotel does have a few smoking rooms located at the ends of some of the floors which is noticeable in the hall ways. However, if you tell the front desk about the scent they have this 'magical' spray that they can spray that will eliminate the order within minutes - literally, it was quite impressive.
