A visit to Pike Place Fish Market is a definite thing to do when in Seattle. There is so much to…read moresee! The fresh seafood, fruit and veggies, flowers, and all sorts of vendors selling some unique products as well as lots of touristy stuff. And lots of food options to choose from too. And so many shops. It's so pretty along the water. The guys who toss the fish make sure everyone that walks by gets a good show. They must get tired of tossing that fish. And that poor dead fish that keeps getting tossed--it must be mush by the end of the day! We didn't go to the gum wall this time. Saw it the last time we were here and I didn't need to see it again. On this day it was super busy! I think mostly because of the cruise ship in port. So, if you are okay with the crowds, give yourself some time to walk and explore all that there is to offer here. Note that the traffic all along Alaskan Way was a log jam! We took the Hop On-Hop Off bus and didn't have to deal with traffic and parking.

A friend ordered me some bairdi crab to be delivered a couple of blocks away from the store. I'm not sure how it works but she did it with toasttab and uber. The order was never delivered to my office and uber was no help to resolve the issue and the drivers phone number would not allow access to help him locate me. He delivered it somewhere from the picture he took but not to my office. We both were making calls to the Market and Ryan went above and beyond. He was willing to walk to my location to deliver me what was paid for even though they were not to blame. What a great person and business model. I went to the market to pick it up as to not take him away from his job and him fix someone else's incompetence. Will I recommend the Market to friends and you all who read this. Heck yes and the crab was awesome too!! But I would not use uber eats or toasttab if you want delivery. Thank you to the staff and policy makers at Pike Place Fish Market, what a great example.

LAM'S SEAFOOD MARKET @ SEATTLE…read more Parking is available in their lot, but it is one-way only, so once you enter, you'll have to loop around unless you find a spot right away. Unfortunately, this area is one of the rougher parts of Seattle. There are a lot of unhoused individuals nearby, and during our visit, there were people openly using drugs outside, which felt pretty unsettling while shopping. My mom and I have been coming here for the past 10 years, and it's honestly sad to see how much this area has declined over time. We were able to find parking and go inside, but the store itself feels very rundown and poorly maintained. It doesn't seem like there's been much effort put into renovating or updating the space. I wouldn't recommend buying fresh produce here, there were a lot of flies, and overall it didn't feel clean. The store feels sturdy but very old, and the overall ambiance is outdated. If you do stop by, I'd only recommend picking up canned or sealed items from brands you already trust. Overall, I wouldn't recommend this location unless you absolutely need something in an emergency. Lam's Seafood in Tukwila, on the other hand, is much better, it's bigger, cleaner, and feels a lot safer with no major issues in the surrounding area. Compared to that location, I would strongly avoid this one. It's disappointing to see how much it's changed over the years.

Called the store and the first person told me mussels were out due to recent rain storms, but reminded me i received free shipping. Told me he could refund the mussels. I was frustrated that they didn't call me to say that so he transferred me to a supervisor. The supervisor said they were waiting for customers to call since they were out of mussels. I said it made more sense to have communicated to me they were out. Transferred to third person who also gave attitude that I got free shipping. She said she would go ahead and refund and also claimed she called the day before which would have been after the items shipped. I've purchased from here for number of years in person and will find some place else in the market. The past few times I found the staff to be rude or less helpful than I think is normal. Made no sense they did not email me to say mussels were in short supply, made no sense that i ordered a month in advance and was surprised how they made this long time customer call to figure out why I was missing items in an order.

I honestly don't understand why Jack's Fish Spot doesn't have higher reviews. This place is both a…read moreseafood market and to-go restaurant, and it feels like exactly how more seafood spots should operate. You can buy fresh seafood right there while also getting a fresh meal made to order. The clam chowder was one of the better versions I've had in Seattle. It's thick, hearty, and packed with herbs -- more flavorful than most chowders I've tried. A cup was $6.99 and surprisingly filling, with a good balance of clams and potatoes instead of being overly heavy on one or the other. I also got the fried fish sandwich with king salmon for a $2 upcharge, and it was 100% worth it. The salmon had so much flavor, and even though it's fried, the texture stayed light and crispy instead of greasy. Super easy to eat and honestly one of the standout fish sandwiches I've had. Seating is a little limited around the main counter area since most of it is the seafood market/bar setup, but there's additional seating in the back which helps. Definitely one of my new favorite spots to visit when I'm in Seattle, I highly recommend!

Disappointing Experience at Jack's Fish Spot…read more I was really looking forward to trying this place based on some of the tourist guides, but it honestly felt like a tourist trap. First off, let's talk about the food. I ordered the salmon, and it was incredibly disappointing. The fish itself was completely bland and lacked any proper seasoning. To make matters worse, it was riddled with pin bones right in the middle of the fillet. Having to constantly pick bones out of your mouth while trying to eat a piece of fish is not only annoying, but it's also a major choking hazard. Furthermore, the setup here is basically a glorified fast-food counter. You stand in line, order your food, and then have to hunt for your own public seating in a crowded market space. There is zero traditional table service. Despite this being a fast-food style operation, they automatically charged a 20% tip on the bill. Forcing a hefty, automatic service fee when you are essentially busing your own tables and ordering at a counter is ridiculous. Between the poorly prepared fish and the sneaky upcharging, the value just isn't there. You're better off finding a spot that actually puts effort into prepping their seafood and doesn't tack on mandatory gratuity for counter service.
