Super fresh! This is the place in Seattle to get the best fish! The staff here is very knowledgeable and their fillet skills are superior.

I used to love this plane and count on it. This year we bought our annual King crab legs which arent cheap ($150-200 a couple times during the holidays)... but it's our thanksgiving, so it's worthy of a splurge. One of the legs was putrid. I had to spit it out and for the cost, that's a lot and I had to eat something else to make up for it. Anyhow it happens but I reached out directly. We saved the leg (frozen) so they could confirm. No response. So now we're afraid to go back because come on. We have since changed to seafood specials we can get at Costco instead of supporting a smaller local business, and sadly will continue that in the future. Literally a response and any kind of gesture could have changed that for us. For the price it's the least that could have been done. read more

What a great place to buy seafood. I'm not a seafood fan myself but I've stopped in here a few times to pick up halibut, prawns, crab cakes, etc for my family back in Spokane. Everyone has said the food is delicious. I feel pricing is appropriate given the freshness of the seafood. Stopped by here to pick up some fresh, local seafood for a holiday celebration and was pleasantly surprised by how reasonable the prices were. The guys working were so helpful, knowledgeable and patient with us. We were picking out ingredients for a seafood chowder (that came out insaaaanely delicious) and their suggestions were ~chefs kiss~. Side note: if you are in need of fish stock/broth, be sure to pick up some of theirs, made in house! It's incredibly fresh and flavorful and really elevates any recipe. Trying to enjoy a rainy day during the Covid-19 quarantine, we drove to see the Chittenden Locks and stopped by Fisherman's Terminal on the way back. My guess is, during a normal Saturday in healthier times, the Terminal would be packed with tourists and people out for the day. Wild Salmon allowed only three masked marauders in at a time, and health and safety were paramount. Wild Salmon is for "real," and the information posted let patrons know what was fresh, what was frozen, and how much it would cost. I loved the experience. Our purchases included 4 pounds of fresh Coho Salmon and fresh Halibut with a cost of about $100.00. Seattle ain't cheap, and prices are not going down. In fact, real estate is still going up. (Amazon's earnings are up during the pandemic) As always, we broil or bake seafood lightly, with just a touch of mustard. The fish was delicious, well worth the price of the swallow. I will be back to Wild Salmon to purchase fresh seafood. Next time, I may have to wait longer, but it will be worth it. read more

Butter. The King Salmon flaked, the texture was butter, and it was worth every penny. Years I've lived here and never went down to Fisherman's Terminal much less that the Wild Salmon Seafood Market was even there. I had been spoiled for years by being a beneficiary of other people's fishing. I want to eat the fish. I don't want to meet my meat. But times change and I realized long ago as the fishers retired and sold their boats I had to find another way. I was pleasantly surprised to find this market. It wasn't my intent when I visited Fisherman's Terminal but I was pleased when I saw it! I studied the board that had the different fish listed. I saw the sign that proclaimed not to enter, that we would be summoned. But once inside I was poorly prepared! It is one thing to look at a board of fresh fish and another to be surrounded by so much food! Only three customers in at time resulted in my companion being asked to leave. That was fine - he wasn't buying anything anyhow so he could go. The gentleman who weighed all my fish was particularly fastidious and patient - a rare combination of traits indeed! My eyes couldn't take in everything. A pound of smelt for my friend so he'd be willing to portion my fish and my fish consisted of black cod, king salmon, and red salmon. I then spied crab meat and got some added to the order. Everyone was so pleasant! I wish I had more time but the demand was high and space small. Then I took the food home and proceeded to eat it and it was delicious. Every bite, every morsel has been exquisite. I am very pleased! read more

The staff at Fresh Fish are more congenial, but the prices are a bit lower here at Wild Salmon, so if I'm in the neighborhood, I stop and pick up a piece of fish like I did today. Check the price board out front for what's been caught that day. There's also plenty critters stocked in the freezers, too. Smoked Black Cod is a standout. Get some fresh halibut if they have it. Buy a can of sardines packed in brine in case of Armageddon. Sardines go great with beans. read more

I went around 10:00am on a Sunday which is a little risky in my opinion. To my delight they still had plenty of great cuts available! I said I would be grilling the fish and the piece he was going to give me unfortunately didn't have the skin on, which was cool in my mind. No biggie really. If you are looking for a good fish market you have found the place. Fresh fish and great prices! Everything is seasonal so don't expect fresh salmon all the time. You can get smoked salmon from the fridge though for a good part of the year. They also have clams, oysters and other things like pickled herring available. There are a lot of choices and the cases are pretty stocked with fish so no matter what the season is, you'll get fresh fish. This place is pretty busy. Moreso in the summer and fall because the fishing seasons hit on those times. Worse comes to worst you can always check the website to see what they have in stock. The best option is to visit in person though. Fish is updated daily and the website is only a quick view of what they have in stock. The guys are busy but are willing to help out. Don't be afraid to ask for recommendations either. They can tell you what fish is best for ever cooking method. If you are traveling they will also help you package fish and tell you how to transport it without any issues. They'll even wrap it up for you! This a great little market for fresh seafood. I ordered a ten oysters for around $16. The oysters were fresh, delicious, and of great quality. The market itself is very small and allows for three customers at time to enter at a time where which could result in some significant wait times. However, there was no wait time when I arrived (1pm on a Monday). This is a great option for those seeking out fresh and local seafood for a special occasion. Once again, a long overdue review. I've been going to Wild Salmon for many years. This is my go-to place for seafood in Seattle. Many years ago, I worked on a seafood processing ship and picked up some pointers on grading salmon. Well, I have to say that WS is top notch In not just that way. There, you get the double-whammy of best quality AND price. Sure, you can find seafood on sale at a better price, but quality won't necessarily be there. Moreover, WS tends to have everyday prices comparable to your average sale price. That said,let's talk product. WS has it down. To die for: Salmon spread, Bay shrimp cocktail (though they're now selling separate the shrimp and their house cocktail sauce), salmon jerky, etc. They also provide fillet service for all whole fish they sell. For free. What seafood? Their first focus is local, fresh, and in season. It's early summer today, and I saw two or three salmon, trout, Black Cod, rockfish,Halibut, crab, clams, squid, and the list goes seemingly forever for such a small store. There will be flash-frozen, but that is actually not a bad thing. I know flash freezing. Just like how an extremely sharp knife cutting an onion goes a huge way to prevent tears, flash freezing doesn't (or, at least, minimizes) molecular rupture. Honest. This is true. Still, what catches my eye is the minimal fish scale loss on the salmon. That's what tells you how gentle their seafood is handled. There are many other side items that keep catching my attention. My wife thinks I'm weird for liking Pickled herring (Scando-local!). Well, put on a good multi-grain cracker, you have a naughty-nutritious snack. WS also sells salmon caviar. "Ikura" is what the Japanese call it. You see on one kind of sushi. Party the local on crackers and wash it down with sparkling wine! Going back to the salmon spread, it's worth getting their crab cakes (!!!!!!!) and making a burger with WS's salmon spread. Whoa, Nelly! You gonna brok yo' mouth!!!!! read more

I was visiting from SF and offered to cook for eighteen people in my wife's family. First question: what is a classic Seattle meal? Second question: is there a place I can get salmon fresh off the boat? The folks at Wild Salmon Seafood Market were friendly on the phone and extremely helpful in the shop. I opted for a whole Marbled King Salmon. It was not the usual pink-orange color so I thought I'd try something new. They filleted it for me and even put two pounds in a cryovac so my BIL could enjoy it after the hordes had left. Great selection of spices, accessories, and of course local seafood. It was the kind of place I'd imagined in my more optimistic dreams, and the dinner turned out really well with these bad boys on the grill. read more

I like to go to a nice dinner at Chinook's and then come here afterward and pick up a shrimp cocktail and some crab cakes for brunch the next day. They have a great display of fresh seafood ranging from salmon to crab, shrimp, scallops, squid and fish. They also have some great condiments like tartar sauce, garlic butter, cedar planks and seasonings for your seafood. The staff are super helpful and always very friendly. They pack up your order and if you tell them you are traveling, they will include an ice pack and wrap it up so that nothing leaks. The service is outstanding. read more

The place to buy fish in Seattle - located at Fisherman's terminal, next to Chinook's The prices are competitive, and the fish are far fresher than you get at a grocery store. Combine that with a truly knowledgable staff (seafood is all they do), and this is the place to go for fish (though they have one good competitor in the Rainier Valley, if that's closer). If I want to be sure my fish is good (as in for a special occasion), this is the place I go. Grocery stores sometimes do OK, but not always. This is always good. read more
