Love love love Sleepmaster, so much so that I've made two (relatively expensive) purchases there. My primary motivation for searching for and purchasing WJ Southard mattresses was ecological. They are a local retailer and manufacturer. They source and use quality materials that are natural/organic. I've never experienced any off-gassing, something I'm extremely sensitive to. The longevity of the mattress far exceeds a traditional innerspring. Their mattresses definitely come at a higher price point than if you were to go to Metro Mattress, Dream City, etc., but I have no doubt I will be sleeping on our Sleepmaster mattress for 20 or more years. I can say already that after I first purchased a Linklaen in 2014, I bought a run of the mill pillowtop from Dream City for our guest bedroom. The guest bed has already shit out on us, after hosting a handful of guests and occasionally my sleepy dog. Carol is a wonderful salesperson (and she may be the only one there?), knows her product, is personable and straightforward. She always seems willing to cut a deal for you, especially if you are a return customer. I don't know if this is part of her sales gimmick, but if it is, it is effective as her delivery is quite sincere. I ended up purchasing a Linklaen, which is Sleepmaster's all latex model. It is definitely a very firm mattress, and keep in mind that if you lay on their floor model in the store, it is MUCH softer than what you will actually receive, after being broken in by many backs and butts of people wanting to test it out. When I moved into a bigger house and had a bedroom that could accommodate a king, I went back to Sleepmaster and ended up getting an Archetype pillowtop, which is a bit softer model. It is a traditional innerspring with a latex topper. There is no breaking in period for this model. It feels like it's been your ride or die mattress. It is firm enough for me, soft enough for my husband, and roomy enough for the two of us, a toddler and a dog. The Archetype pillowtop is one of Sleepmaster's most expensive models - including delivery an hour away, it set me back $3402 (I did not purchase the box spring, that was just for the mattress). However! If the mattress lasts 20 years at least, and I'm sleeping on it every night, it breaks out to about .46 cents per night's sleep, and that sounds pretty good to me. Went here after a HORRIFYING experience down the street at metro mattress! The lady knew immediately where I had come from and treated me with total respect and kindness! Tried a few mattresses within my price range, and although she offered me a few days to think about it (unlike metro) I bought it on the spot, she even threw on a free mattress protector after hearing what I had gone through at metro mattress! Seriously there's no reason to shop around this place is as good as it gets. No pressure no price changes and if your as picky as me they sell WJ Southard which IMHO are worth every penny. I purchased the organic innerspring and it is amazing. There's always debate about organic mattresses but I'm all for skipping the flame retardants and using wool. The cotton they use is fantastic. The service here was also great no pressure at all willing to answer questions and rather informed I was impressed. So if your looking to cut some chemicals out of your nightly routine you should give these a shot and if you've got a few bucks to spare after the mattress purchase a set of alpaca pillows goes very well read more

Unbelievable Service-and Carol is the best! No pressure-let us take our time and even encouraged us to shop around. No need-we were there because they make the mattresses for the Skylar Hotel-and we loved that bed when we stayed there. Ended up with the "Syracuse" and we love it! Delivered to us in Clifton Springs-near Geneva-but they forgot to bring the frame they threw in the day before. No worries-It showed up at our home the next morning! ( we needed it because we were giving our not to old previous bed set to our son) Incredible service in a day when you just don't get it that often. Will highly reccomend to our friends! Flippable or two sided mattress do too exist! in the last 10 years I have purchase 2 mattresses that are not flippable and after 2 years the hip-dip was apparent. I did my research and I know two-sided mattresses are out there, but I wanted to try before I buy. I found three places locally that stock them, but Carol was the best sales person to work with. I actually purchased two sets (one for me one for guests). The organic latex model is incredible (my friend in NYC purchased hers for twice the price) the other one is a traditional coil-spring (I slept on that for two weeks to be sure). When you go ask for Carol --she knows her product and the industry and she is low pressure. BTW, when I to competitors ALL of the salesmen chuckled and said no-one makes a two sided mattress. THIS IS THE FIVE STAR PART OF THE REVIEW: This is a mixed review because while the experience of purchasing the bed set was extremely wonderful, the delivery sucked. Last week, I took my daughter to the Erie Blvd. East store in Syracuse to buy her a new bed. We worked with Carol, a sales manager. Carol was the sweetest, nicest, most professional person I have dealt with in a retail sales setting in years. She asked what we were looking for and what our price range was, and showed us several available sets that fit our requirements. We decided on an extremely comfortable set that was on sale and sat down to do the paperwork. Everything went well, and we left the store very satisfied with the purchase we made. Delivery was set up for the following week. THIS IS THE ONE STAR PART OF THE REVIEW: Delivery day came, and the truck arrived on time (we had a window of 1-4, and they arrived before 2:00). The delivery men were from a different store (Cicero), which is why this review is in two parts, as you will see. The problem started when one of the men said something about not removing the old set, and I went to find my receipt because removal was something that I had discussed with Carol. (As I am in a wheelchair, having them remove the old bed set was just much easier for me). Apparently, because I had the nerve to question the delivery guy's comment about them removing the old set, he quickly got an attitude and became belligerent. He got out his copy of the receipt to show me that there was nothing mentioned about the removal, and after the bed was set up he kept muttering comments including wondering whether I was going to make trouble for him with the store. I called the store where I purchased the bed to talk to Carol. She was not working, but I talked to an extremely nice person who said that there had been a misunderstanding and that they were coming back to take away the old bed-set. As I was hanging up with him, the delivery men showed back up again, and I proceeded to tell them what I thought about their lousy attitude. The taller man, of course, denied saying anything derogatory but my daughter had heard everything. Shortly after they left, one of them called and told my daughter that he had in fact called and discussed the situation with Carol, who informed him that removal was included, but she had simply forgotten to write it on the receipt. She had been the only one working the evening we made our purchase and had other customers to take care of besides us, and this slipped through the cracks. I would give Carol and the Erie Blvd. East store five stars, because I could not have reasonably asked for things to go better. We got a great bed set, at a great price, and were treated very well by Carol. I give the delivery people one star, only because they called back after everything was done to let us know that we were correct about removing the old bed. They did set up the bed like they were supposed to, it's just that everything else about them made this a horrible customer experience. read more

Bought a mattress with a 20 yr warranty. We bought the mattress here because their locally made and wanted to support local. Three years later it develops a large dip on my side of the bed (I'm not a big fat guy either!). Contact the company and they charge me $50 to come and pickup the mattress to 'fix it'. They drop it off that night - it's not fixed. We contact the store again and they want to negotiate on the price of a new mattress! There are too many other mattress stores in Syracuse that will provide free pickup/delivery and replace the mattress if it breaks - go to them. The poor quality and lack of warranty support makes this company a big no-go. read more

I DO NOT recommend Sleepmaster mattress! I purchased a mattress and box spring for my son who is a local college student. The deal sounded great, however don't be fooled. The mattress and box spring were delivered late outside of the promised time frame. Most significantly the box spring smelled like vomit. We initially thought the odor was from the delivery men but it was not. The smell permeated the entire apartment. I immediately demanded a new box spring which they provided. The new box spring smelled like chemicals and pine and was an overwhelmingly bad odor. My son threw the box spring away and I purchased a replacement at another company. It was also apparent how badly the box spring was made. It was no bargain. Go elsewhere!!! read more
