My teenage son and I were craving wings and decided to try Ikonic Wings after seeing good reviews…read moreabout them. We recently moved to Washington from California, so we've been missing our usual wing spots back home. Haven't tried any wing spots yet after our move so decided to give Ikonic Wings a try. We ordered in person since we weren't familiar with the menu, and the employee working the counter was super friendly and patient with all of our questions. I didn't see it on the menu so I inquired how many flavors we could select (i.e. 2 or 3 flavors for 18 wings??); She explained how the flavor selections worked depending on wing count (1 flavor for the 2 lowest selections, 2 flavors for the rest, includes Wings Only or Wings Combo). She even let us sample the Sweet Blaze sauce when we asked what the flavor consists of. The restaurant itself is pretty small with only about 3 tables inside, and we waited around 18 minutes for our order (she provided the estimated time in advance and we were willing to wait). There's also a small carryout fee if you order to go. We ordered 18 wings with the Badass Buffalo and Garlic Parmesan sauces for about $30, which felt fair imo. The wings were still hot when we got home, smelled amazing, and the chicken itself was definitely juicy and meaty. They don't skimp on portion size at all, and I actually liked the thick breading texture too. Unfortunately, the flavor just didn't really hit for us. I was hoping for something more flavorful and crispy like Fire Wings back in California. My son and I agreed that the buffalo sauce honestly tasted more like BBQ than buffalo, and it wasn't spicy at all. To me, the garlic parmesan mostly just tasted salty instead of cheesy or garlicky. Even with buttermilk ranch, the flavors still tasted pretty average. I do appreciate that they're veteran-owned and the customer service was genuinely great, but for wings, flavor is the biggest thing for me. I'd rather have smaller wings with bold flavor than bigger wings that taste kind of bland. Not sure if we'll be returning, probably around a 6 out of 10 for us personally. ***Editing to Add (after Owners Response): Appreciate the thoughtful response; please don't take it to heart! We have no issues with the price, just wanted to include as much details with our experience for those unaware like ourselves, so the carryout fee is completely understandable. The staff accurately made the order; the buffalo sauce just tasted more for us like a bbq/buffalo sauce we're used to from frozen store bought groceries, and our level of spice tolerance is higher so that could be why our standards weren't met. As for the garlic parmesan, I'm no chef, but if there is possibly a way to douse some fresh garlic parmesan on the chicken after the breading/frying, maybe that could improve the taste if some of it is lost from the process? Not attacking whatsoever, just food for thought. Also, When I mentioned ranch, we didn't try the ranch here, we had our own at home to eat with the wings, so no shade to your ranch :)

I wish there was a way to sample more flavors with smaller portions. The smallest portion was 8 peices of chicken, but I really wanted to try a few so whatever. I got the spicy Galbi half order and secret sauce half order, plus the mozz balls, and the website really pushed the rose ddeok-bokki, so I got that as well. It came out to a little over $70. Not a horrible price, it was a lot of food, and nothing was baaaaad. It was all just kinda mid tbh. The chicken is very crispy, which is good. The secret sauce is really good, it was our fave. The galbi was fine too, just didn't like it as much. The mozz balls were good, but a little dry. Although they had a subtle sweetness which was good. It would have been nice to have a dipping sauce or something. The ddeok-bokki was not my thing, but my husband liked it. The sauce was flavorful, but the rice cakes were just so dense and heavy. Although I enjoyed the chicken overall, I think one of the biggest issues was the cuts of chicken. I personally love dark meat, and have no qualms with a little gristle. However, at least 2-3 from each of the 8 peice orders, were little more than battered fried bones. Very very little meat. Plus the larger chunks of meat were kind of dry. Overall I enjoyed the food, but idk if I would need to go back.

We were done before the clock even hit 10PM (9:55PM). This is purely poor customer service. As for the food? We got the golden fried and honey garlic and both very crisp and delicious. The fries on the other hand are you typical frozen food crinkle cut fries. Skip the fries they are not worth it. Now excuse me while I go vacuum chicken crumbs out of my car...

When I asked if it was a chicken philly I got a dum look. Said they didnt know if onions or peppers were used when cooked. Then walked away as I asked for a manager. A few minutes later looked to see me still there. Asked if there was a problem.... Yes a manager please. Then went through the whole story again. Didnt care that both were wrong just took the one. Finally got anothers attention for the second one. Had to explain I only want what I asked for (and whats on the menu board)with no mayo. Special thanks for soaking the whole thing in juice making it so hot we couldnt eat them. The bread was soaked with it. Just a sloppy mess. You definatly accomplished your mission of burning our mouths to the point we wont ever come back and we threw that nasty *×+! away. We go to Charleys knowing it will take some some time its usually worth it but never expected the big F you we got this time. So here I am giving it back... Great job having my post deleted. See the lines at Subway, the Japanese place, Slim Chickens and other places? See the very small or no line at all at Arby's and this joint? There is a reason why. Me and my daughter got a sample of a chicken cheesesteak at the mall in Olympia. It was delicious. We thought we would give this place a try. Same joint, same recipe. I was wrong. Olympia was flavorful. This joint took some chicken and cheese, slapped it on a hoagie roll and said "serve it!". This was partially my fault because I was in a time crunch and needed food in a hurry. Now I'm wishing I had gotten the Chicken-Bacon-Ranch from Subway. This sandwich just needed more...i tried to put ketchup on it. Couldn't taste it. I tried more ketchup to no avail. It needed either some au jus dipping sauce or to be drowned in ranch dressing. It was just food. I did not get sick and for that, I'm grateful. If you want food, go here. If you want food that's flavorful, go somewhere else.

Clearly, I have to return to try everything else on the menu. The salad has fresh cut romaine lettuce. It is NOT a salad mix. Very flavorful, roasted corn, perfectly cooked flank steak, exactly the right amount of blue cheese crumbles so they didn't overtake the flavor of the salad. The roasted tomato vinaigrette has a smoky flavor to it that was delicious. The dressing was tossed with the salad, not in the side. Another great decision. You can tell they carefully put together their salads and it is a high quality meal. I got the large size, not the kite version and it was perfect. I ate all of it because it was so good. Drinks came out quickly. The gin and tonic was delicious. Food followed fast and hot. I ordered the Shepherd's Pie. Comfort food done right, hearty, well seasoned, and filling. The portion was generous and I took half of it home. One friend had the stroganoff, which was rich, satisfying, and served in a solid portion. Another ordered the fish and chips with crispy batter, flaky fish, and a portion that felt fair for the price. We split the triple berry dessert to finish. Sweet without being over the top and perfect for sharing. The place was clean, well kept, and easy to get in and out of. Plenty of parking, which honestly matters. Prices felt reasonable across the board, especially for the portion sizes. We were so busy chatting that I got lost in conversation and forgot to take photos.
