I love Gyros! I have had Gyros in many places across the U.S.. Some I like more than others, but I…read morehave always at least been able to eat what I have been served... Until today when I ordered a Gyro from The Greek Shack. They showed fries on the Gyro in the picture but did not mention them in the description, while providing an upgrade option for fries, so I assumed I would not get fries on my Gyro. In my very strong opinion, fires don't make a Gyro better. In my even stronger opinion overcooked fries that were cooked in very very old oil and smell rancid and are nothing more than mush don't make ANYTHING better. The fries were gross. I picked them out of my food and gave the Gyro a fighting chance. Gyro meat should be freshly sliced off the spit for the best results. The gyro meat at The Greek shack is pre-formed and frozen. They even made it worse in the reheating as it was also overcooked and tasted off. Nothing authentic going on here, they just reheat frozen meat that came from a factory. This was hands down the worst Gyro I have ever tasted. Not close. There are no competitors. The Tzatziki, which I ordered an extra side of, is also the worst Tzatziki sauce I've had. Just tastes dull, no pop from the lemon or garlic and no discernable mint or dill. I mean the sauce is pure white, so I'm pretty sure they do not use mint or dill in the recipe. I'm so incredibly disappointed. I worked a long day and thought I was taking a safe bet on one of not only my favorite food items but one that was also my father's favorites. I've been eating Gyros on the regular for more than 40 years now and I travel for work so I eat them all over. I've had them in Coronado, CA, Denver, CO, SLC, UT, San Francisco, CA, KC, MO, Phoenix, AZ, Las Vegas, NV, Boise, ID, Billings, MT. And more. I love Gyros. This one was gross. I could not eat it.

To our delight the food was as good as we remembered with generous portions of fresh ingredients. Small and cozy, it is like a touch of Greece in the Pennsylvania mountains. Highly recommended.

Atomic Hog is PHENOMENAL…read more I have never had brisket this stellar. The tenderness, the flavor, and the amount of meat is truly incredible. So perfectly seasoned is the meat that I never use any sauces or condiments. I usually get the collared greens as a side. Once again, it's a large portion, well seasoned and perfectly complementary to their amazing meats. Additionally, the Atomic Hog staff is friendly and capable. Atomic Hog is highly recommended and like many in the area, we hope they find a permanent brick and mortar home!

Seasonally, South Mall (South Allentown, PA area) has a Food Truck event in the front parking lot,…read moreon Thursdays. Food trucks of all kinds. Tonight we tried Atomic Hog BBQ. They don't have a truck, but have a small tented area where they display the menu, take orders and pay (credit cards accepted). Then next to it is a large wide smoker and a table where you hand over the receipt and collect your order. They offer pulled pork, brisket, ribs, chicken, roasted hog and sides (baked beans, mac & cheese, coleslaw, cornbread, etc). They use their own special dry rub, so this BBQ is not dripping wet. They do have several BBQ sauces to add to your food. The baked beans had a pleasant kick to them. I do think they should use a nice brioche roll instead of the average burger roll. I've had a lot of different BBQ from various states in the country and this was better than average. About an 8 out of 10. I was glad to see no fatty pieces in my pulled pork, but my husband found one in his brisket. That's just a matter of making sure prep is perfect. At South Mall, there are no chairs and tables to dine. So bring your own portable ones and dine near your car or take it home. The entire area is blocked and all the trucks/tents face the center of the large rectangular area. Worth checking out.
