Amazing Greek style food. Friendly service. Love the rice bowls and Greek fries. Good children's menu.

I love Gyros! I have had Gyros in many places across the U.S.. Some I like more than others, but I have always at least been able to eat what I have been served... Until today when I ordered a Gyro from The Greek Shack. They showed fries on the Gyro in the picture but did not mention them in the description, while providing an upgrade option for fries, so I assumed I would not get fries on my Gyro. In my very strong opinion, fires don't make a Gyro better. In my even stronger opinion overcooked fries that were cooked in very very old oil and smell rancid and are nothing more than mush don't make ANYTHING better. The fries were gross. I picked them out of my food and gave the Gyro a fighting chance. Gyro meat should be freshly sliced off the spit for the best results. The gyro meat at The Greek shack is pre-formed and frozen. They even made it worse in the reheating as it was also overcooked and tasted off. Nothing authentic going on here, they just reheat frozen meat that came from a factory. This was hands down the worst Gyro I have ever tasted. Not close. There are no competitors. The Tzatziki, which I ordered an extra side of, is also the worst Tzatziki sauce I've had. Just tastes dull, no pop from the lemon or garlic and no discernable mint or dill. I mean the sauce is pure white, so I'm pretty sure they do not use mint or dill in the recipe. I'm so incredibly disappointed. I worked a long day and thought I was taking a safe bet on one of not only my favorite food items but one that was also my father's favorites. I've been eating Gyros on the regular for more than 40 years now and I travel for work so I eat them all over. I've had them in Coronado, CA, Denver, CO, SLC, UT, San Francisco, CA, KC, MO, Phoenix, AZ, Las Vegas, NV, Boise, ID, Billings, MT. And more. I love Gyros. This one was gross. Stopped by while driving through and promised the owner (and ourselves) we'd come back ... and we did. To our delight the food was as good as we remembered with generous portions of fresh ingredients. Small and cozy, it is like a touch of Greece in the Pennsylvania mountains. Small Greek family owned restaurant that can really, really, really.... feel like a passport stamp off of the rolling south Pocono mountainside. It's quiet, friendly, authentic and they have frappe! Frappe is Grecian solution to a frappuccino sans the sugar content. Its more about the coffee and froth, the only bits that matter, and you still pay far less than what you would for a ridonkulousss Frappuccino. I love supporting Greek Orthodox extended church family as it's one of the present finest ways to feeling interconnected with each other and our faith. They aren't open Sundays (religious observance for Lord's Day) and a few days during the week. They also operate food truck and are often at many of festivals throughout year to help support their sweet family. Call ahead! read more

Have eaten at the Beech Mountain location several times now and never disappoints! True authentic Greek food - the dolma/grapes leaves are a must have. The Greek salad and homemade dressing are amazing along with the crispy chicken tenders with house-made honey mustard. Generous portions. The guy next to us ordered a burger and that looked amazing too. Everyone that works there is so nice and the service is quick! Highly recommend checking this place out!! read more

The venue is extremely cozy and feels like home. All the employees were extremely nice and generous. The food was exceptional and everything was seasoned to perfection. The fries are fresh cut and seasoned and the gyro was fresh and delicious. I also really like the teas that they have to drink which were very very good. The inside dining room section is very nice if it's hot out and the dining experience was professional and clean. This place is a hidden gem and we will be back many more times. 10/10 read more

Fabulous! It was so fun to stop off the highway on our trip and find such a warm, welcoming place to eat....Fast enough for a quick stop but way better than fast food! We had a gyro, fries, lentil soup, Greek salad, and skewered chicken. Everything was fresh and tasty! The gentleman serving was very welcoming and gracious and delivered our order to us inside. The inside area was a huge bonus on a cold, windy night! It was cozy, cute, clean, and had games on each table.
