=== Overall === A beautiful, trendy place to get matcha and small bites. My favorite cafe in North America to date. === Food === I ordered an iced pineapple matcha with oat milk which was mind blowing. My family got a hot matcha and an americano which they both said was great. The matcha was well presented and had perfect ratios - the color was vibrant and you couldn't taste the milk or water at all, it was so so good. I also ordered the caprese toast and it was probably the best caprese I've had, tied with Oven & Shaker in Portland when they had it on the menu. My family got the overnight oats and a croissant and said those were both good, but I think the caprese was the standout. === Service === I went on a holiday so there was a long line out the door but we still managed to snag a seat at the front. Food and drink didn't take that long. Friendly service, although they had pineapple matcha written with dry erase marker on their menu and when I asked for it they said it wasn't on the menu (but luckily they still had it). === Ambiance === Parking might be a little hard but the interior is very beautiful and they have a separate section for those who want to use their laptops and not. They ask that you use your laptop for a maximum of an hour.

Very friendly and knowledgeable staff, and really high-quality ingredients in these creative drinks! I'm a big fan of the minimalist environment for sipping my hojicha lattes.

Sundried tomato ricotta toast, matcha basque cheesecake, iced hojicha with pandan cream

I had high expectations for this place and was not let down! I ordered a sundried tomato (vegan) ricotta toast, a slice of matcha basque cheesecake, and an iced hojicha with pandan cream. The vegan "ricotta" spread on the toast was very good, with a similar flavour and consistency to hummus. Topped with juicy roasted red pepper, lots of arugula, and hemp crumble. I always appreciate a vegan option that's a little creative. The cheesecake was creamy with just the right amount of matcha, which works really well with the burnt exterior. The iced hojicha with pandan was very interesting! Honestly, I would never have thought to pair hojicha with pandan even though I really like them both, but it worked really well! I felt like the pandan brought out the more floral/herbal notes of the hojicha. The vibe was excellent - the barista that took my order was so friendly! As many before me have pointed out, the design is very interesting with the curved ceiling. The choice of furniture and layout also gives the place a really cool and unique look. I got a comfortable chair in an alcove by the window.

Nice hipster themed coffee place on Main. Parking is available on the side streets. The place has a very unique interior, with the curved ceiling. Almost feels like a retro spaceport or something out of Star Wars. There is a booth in the middle, and some tables. To be honest, there isn't quite enough seating. Also most of the tables seem to be meant for 2 people only. Something to keep in mind. There are also some benches outside. Staff are friendly. As of the time of writing, they don't take cash, so be sure to have a card handy. I thought the coffee was decent, but my (coffee) snob friends mentioned it was watered down. They also have cucumber water here, which is nice and refreshing. Wouldn't mind coming back at some point, though I'd avoid the peak hours if possible.

We came on a Saturday at 9am and there were some empty seats available. I got the breakfast sando ($8.75) and the cappuccino ($5). The breakfast sando was enough for me for breakfast but for bigger eaters they might find it small. It has an Ancho sauce in it that tastes like one of the wraps from Tim Hortons. The cappuccino was okay. The bubbles disappeared quite quickly. Taste wise it was not bad but I wouldn't order it again. I saw a lot of people ordering the matcha drinks. Maybe those are better. I'll try it next time

Matcha Pistachio Latte This was very good! I was surprised at how well the nuttiness of the pistachio paired with the matcha. Personally it's not my favourite flavour combo but it was done very well! The place is very cute but there is limited seating and also a sign that says limited for one hour of seating. I think this is because it's relatively new and very popular. My friend accidentally spilt her drink and the staff made her a new one which was incredibly kind of them. The service was even though it was busy so props to the team!

This place is exactly what this area needs: a nice coffee shop to meet a friend or business associate with a vibe unlike any other. The arched ceilings make it feel like a star wars set yet its not too loud or echo-y inside. We got the breakfast sandwich, pistachio toast, cappucino and matcha latte. Everything was great but prices are a tad on the higher side for this neighborhood. We would get everything again but are also open to try other things on their limited menu. Service was excellent. You can tell the workers are passionate about coffee and the space. There were neat seating nooks all around and a small offering of items to purchase. Definitely a place to check out.

Really cute coffee shop with one of the best matcha lattes I've had! It has a chic interior that kind of looks like the Star Wars bar. Lots of seating around, though it gets busy on the weekend. The service was fast and friendly. Will definitely go again!

Interior is beautiful! Reminds me of cafes in LA. The cranberry matcha was surprisingly really good!

I've been here twice and my favourite is their Iced Matcha Pistachio latte. It's a nice hangout place if you could find a table. It seems to be always busy on the weekends but service is quick. There's lots of street parking nearby too.

We finally got to try out Slo Coffee and surprisingly despite going on a weekend afternoon, there was no lineup and not too bad of a wait. There is a decent amount of seating both indoors and outdoors and I absolutely loved the vibes of this cute cafe. They also have a small selection of books from Nooroongji Books from Granville Island which is one of my absolute favourite bookstores! We got a cappuccino and a hibiscus and mango ice tea and both were quite delicious. They both had good flavour and the ice tea specifically was not too sweet. Highly recommend this place and cannot wait to be back to try some of their food options. Definitely a reminder to slow down in life.

Beautiful, clean, spacious cafe that has a minimalist look. Some establishments are uncomfortable prioritizing appearance over functionality, but this cafe did a good job maximizing the seating space with nice furniture for chatting or working (some tables are marked as no laptop allowed). They have limewashed ceilings and a central island for baristas to make the drinks which makes it relaxing to just sit and watch things happen! They use Modbar under the counter espresso machines which add to the minimalist look. The drinks were decent-I do think the matcha latte could be stronger, but it had a good umami aroma that quality matchas have. The cup size compared to other cafes is smaller too. The bakery items were pricey for the amount, particularly the sweet sourdough toast. It had depth of flavour from the elevated ingredients but ultimately tasted like a nut butter+jam toast. The menu listed mango jam but they used a blueberry jam, changing as necessary seasonally. The cheese scone, ham+cheese croissant, and cookie were all standard.

Slo Coffee is a wonderful new addition to the Vancouver coffee scene. It's clear that they are passionate about their craft. Their Latte, made using medium-roast beans roasted in house, was packed with delightful fruity and balanced flavors. The Bacon Breakfast Sando, similarly, had care put into every bite. The cafe is located in a very spacious space with a good amount of seating. The staff were also polite and all seemed really excited to be there! I had an amazing experience on my first visit and will definitely be back again very soon.

Ive had it before and at least its pretty consistent. Ive tried several other things on their menu in the past too, all pretty solid 4/5. Nothing standout as so amazing to deserve 5 stars, but consistent and tasty. I did have a reservation which they charge $10/person for, purely for donation to a charity and does not contribute to your meal at all, and also nonrefundable. While I find this somewhat annoying, I dont blame them for doing this from a business standpoint. They always have a lineup so there is no shortage of customers for them. There is no reason they need to deal with the headache of a ton of reservations. I was meeting a friend here yesterday who's visiting from California, and when deciding on a meeting place, we realized a bunch of the Gastown coffee roaster places were closed on Sunday, so I mentioned Breka , knowing it was opened 24/7. (LOVE this!). Plus, this site is close to Waterfront Station, and my friend had a busy day planned, taking the Seabus to N.Van and doing a lot of sightseeing. So this Breka was perfect. I was there early at 10 am-ish, and from the outset, I was impressed: exposed brick wall, long counter and display case, fully stocked with the most beautiful pastries and tarts and cakes, and lovely looking sandwiches, too....Just lovely. I ordered a tea from the guy taking the orders. At the check-out, the woman working the cashier was the most unfriendly, aloof person I have ever encountered at a Breka. She was downright dour. Never looked up, never smiled, said I owed X for the tea I ordered, gave me a receipt and said I was "number 3", no "thank you" (despite my saying thanks!), nothing. She looked really unhappy and bothered to be there. (I sat at a nearby table, waiting for my number to be called. I saw her interactions with all the people behind me - and there were quite a few, as it got suddenly busy in the cafe. She was cold and unfriendly to everyone in line as she rang them all up. These are mostly tourists! Why have a dour, borderline-hostile woman at the check-out counter of a busy cafe in a touristy part of our city? I just don't get it). Anyhow, I waited 10 minutes to hear my number called, but I never heard it. I walked up to the take-out area and there was my tea, on a receipt that said "number 3". Did they call out my number? I honestly don't know. I was seated at a table a few feet from the area and listening for my number and I didn't hear it called. I was not impressed with this set-up. Not at all. My friend arrived and got a chocolate concoction which looked amazing, and he loved it, so there's that. I still love Brekas but I probably won't return to this site. Between the cold experience at the cash and the prolonged waiting for my order (a cup of tea!), and not being sure if my order number was ever called, it just all left me with a bitter taste in my mouth.

We were having gorgeous weather in Vancouver so we decided to eat on the covered patio. The place is pretty cozy, but was only moderately busy when we went. They have a pretty good menu with lots a Benedict's and a build your own breakfast option that seemed pretty nice. I took the recommendation from our server and got the bacon benny. It did not disappoint. I think I have recently discovered that I love poached eggs and these were perfect. The yolk was nice and runny and the white was firm but not hard. I like to cut in to my egg and have it run down and get messy on the plate. The hollandaise was excellent. So many breakfast places will serve it broken, but not here. It had the perfect amount of lemon, butter ratio for my taste and I really enjoyed it. The bacon was good, not to salty, and the english muffin was, well, an English muffin from a package that they toasted and out on the plate. I did splurge and paid the extra dollar for the truffle potatoes and they were very good. I love truffle oil on potatoes so I am a sucker for it whenever its on a menu. You just cant mess it up. Fried potatoes, truffle oil, and a lemon squeeze to bring it all together. My wife got the brunch burger and she loved it. It was a messy breakfast burger that a lot of places have but this one was done right. A poached oozy egg, on a burger patty with american cheese, the best burger cheese in my opinion, bacon, hollandaise and arugula on a brioche bun! It came with tater tots and they were nice and crispy just like she likes them. Well, why didn't I give it five stars you may be asking? Great question. Here it is, each plate came with a side that was just awful. Mine had some "fresh" fruit that nearly made me laugh. It consisted of the saddest, limpest piece of watermelon I have ever seen this side of a trash can. I also had an old crusty orange wedge and a single grape. My wife got a slimy side salad that I think was holding on for dear life. Both, we deemed inedible and moved on immediately. I think there is a rule, or at least there should be one, in restaurants that if you wouldn't eat it then don't serve it. There might be another one that says if you eat rotten food maybe get a different job and see rule one. Overall, we liked the place and would go back. While he loved the tomato soup he chose on the side, he was less enamoured by the benny itself. I had a taste and was underwhelmed by a forkful of overripe avocado and slightly fishy-tasting salmon. We finished with an order of beignets which despite being freshly-fried, were bland; although the accompanying strawberry sauce was deliciously tangy-sweet. Onto the service. This place spins like a top, and I mean that in a good way. Although we came at a peak time, all front of the house staff we encountered -- from the hostess to our bubbly server, to the smooth manager -- struck a perfect balance of being in flow, working flawlessly together, and maintaining light conversation with us.
