SLO café was definitely interesting! It was a smaller café with lots of seating that discouraged laptops. They had an extremely limited food menu, but more on the coffee side. The food menu was interesting, but was all premade. For example, with the breakfast sandwiches you could not custom order. This is unfortunate for someone who is a vegetarian and doesn't want bacon on their sandwich. It was interesting that they were premade and still took about 10 minutes to come out! Other cafés in the area, would definitely try them before returning.

Nice calm atmosphere with lime wash walls and minimalistic vibes. The pistachio latte is good but a tad sweet for my preferred no sweetener matcha. You definitely need to mix it before as the pistachio syrup is on the bottom. The pour over tasted good but a tab bit over extracted and bitter for what it should be. Nice friendly service. Not bad for the drinks, but wouldn't come out of my way to come here.

Very friendly and knowledgeable staff, and really high-quality ingredients in these creative drinks! I'm a big fan of the minimalist environment for sipping my hojicha lattes.

Sundried tomato ricotta toast, matcha basque cheesecake, iced hojicha with pandan cream

I had high expectations for this place and was not let down! I ordered a sundried tomato (vegan) ricotta toast, a slice of matcha basque cheesecake, and an iced hojicha with pandan cream. The vegan "ricotta" spread on the toast was very good, with a similar flavour and consistency to hummus. Topped with juicy roasted red pepper, lots of arugula, and hemp crumble. I always appreciate a vegan option that's a little creative. The cheesecake was creamy with just the right amount of matcha, which works really well with the burnt exterior. The iced hojicha with pandan was very interesting! Honestly, I would never have thought to pair hojicha with pandan even though I really like them both, but it worked really well! I felt like the pandan brought out the more floral/herbal notes of the hojicha. The vibe was excellent - the barista that took my order was so friendly! As many before me have pointed out, the design is very interesting with the curved ceiling. The choice of furniture and layout also gives the place a really cool and unique look. I got a comfortable chair in an alcove by the window.

Nice hipster themed coffee place on Main. Parking is available on the side streets. The place has a very unique interior, with the curved ceiling. Almost feels like a retro spaceport or something out of Star Wars. There is a booth in the middle, and some tables. To be honest, there isn't quite enough seating. Also most of the tables seem to be meant for 2 people only. Something to keep in mind. There are also some benches outside. Staff are friendly. As of the time of writing, they don't take cash, so be sure to have a card handy. I thought the coffee was decent, but my (coffee) snob friends mentioned it was watered down. They also have cucumber water here, which is nice and refreshing. Wouldn't mind coming back at some point, though I'd avoid the peak hours if possible.

We came on a Saturday at 9am and there were some empty seats available. I got the breakfast sando ($8.75) and the cappuccino ($5). The breakfast sando was enough for me for breakfast but for bigger eaters they might find it small. It has an Ancho sauce in it that tastes like one of the wraps from Tim Hortons. The cappuccino was okay. The bubbles disappeared quite quickly. Taste wise it was not bad but I wouldn't order it again. I saw a lot of people ordering the matcha drinks. Maybe those are better. I'll try it next time

Matcha Pistachio Latte This was very good! I was surprised at how well the nuttiness of the pistachio paired with the matcha. Personally it's not my favourite flavour combo but it was done very well! The place is very cute but there is limited seating and also a sign that says limited for one hour of seating. I think this is because it's relatively new and very popular. My friend accidentally spilt her drink and the staff made her a new one which was incredibly kind of them. The service was even though it was busy so props to the team!

This place is exactly what this area needs: a nice coffee shop to meet a friend or business associate with a vibe unlike any other. The arched ceilings make it feel like a star wars set yet its not too loud or echo-y inside. We got the breakfast sandwich, pistachio toast, cappucino and matcha latte. Everything was great but prices are a tad on the higher side for this neighborhood. We would get everything again but are also open to try other things on their limited menu. Service was excellent. You can tell the workers are passionate about coffee and the space. There were neat seating nooks all around and a small offering of items to purchase. Definitely a place to check out.

Really cute coffee shop with one of the best matcha lattes I've had! It has a chic interior that kind of looks like the Star Wars bar. Lots of seating around, though it gets busy on the weekend. The service was fast and friendly. Will definitely go again!

Interior is beautiful! Reminds me of cafes in LA. The cranberry matcha was surprisingly really good!

I've been here twice and my favourite is their Iced Matcha Pistachio latte. It's a nice hangout place if you could find a table. It seems to be always busy on the weekends but service is quick. There's lots of street parking nearby too.

We finally got to try out Slo Coffee and surprisingly despite going on a weekend afternoon, there was no lineup and not too bad of a wait. There is a decent amount of seating both indoors and outdoors and I absolutely loved the vibes of this cute cafe. They also have a small selection of books from Nooroongji Books from Granville Island which is one of my absolute favourite bookstores! We got a cappuccino and a hibiscus and mango ice tea and both were quite delicious. They both had good flavour and the ice tea specifically was not too sweet. Highly recommend this place and cannot wait to be back to try some of their food options. Definitely a reminder to slow down in life.

Beautiful, clean, spacious cafe that has a minimalist look. Some establishments are uncomfortable prioritizing appearance over functionality, but this cafe did a good job maximizing the seating space with nice furniture for chatting or working (some tables are marked as no laptop allowed). They have limewashed ceilings and a central island for baristas to make the drinks which makes it relaxing to just sit and watch things happen! They use Modbar under the counter espresso machines which add to the minimalist look. The drinks were decent-I do think the matcha latte could be stronger, but it had a good umami aroma that quality matchas have. The cup size compared to other cafes is smaller too. The bakery items were pricey for the amount, particularly the sweet sourdough toast. It had depth of flavour from the elevated ingredients but ultimately tasted like a nut butter+jam toast. The menu listed mango jam but they used a blueberry jam, changing as necessary seasonally. The cheese scone, ham+cheese croissant, and cookie were all standard.

Noise level is quite minimal with the quiet chatter here and there, making it a good spot to get some work done while people watching. My go-to's for ordering are their matcha drinks for sure. Strong matcha taste and the right amount of sweetness. I've tried the original matcha and the ube matcha before and both were pretty good. If I'm feeling like drinking coffee, I liked their dirty ube latte! I do prefer my coffee on the sweeter side, so something to keep in mind if you're into darker roasts. Also had their hazelnut latte and that was on the bitter side (for my tastes). We also ordered a matcha cookie the last time we were there and it had a strong matcha taste as well. On the sweeter side though since there was also white chocolate/macadamia bits. Would pair well with an espresso. Would definitely come again (as I have already)! Their sandwiches were exactly as we remembered; meaty, crunchy, tart/ savory with a touch of floral from the cilantro inside a crispy tender baguette! We love how they bake their own bread too! What I noticed was that they altered their bread recipe by adding rice flour & reducing their wheat flour ratio. This helps the bread taste less dense, adds crispness and a lighter crumb. A great improvement to tge sandwich. The pork puffs are so savory and porky flavored, the puff oastry although laminated using lard is so flaky, crispy and light in your mouth. I'm always sorry to finish the last bite. These snacks sell out early so make sure you buy them before noon or you'll miss out. These sandwiches kept us going all day until after 6pm! Where else can you get a lunch for $9 to keep you satisfied all day? The family that operate this shop are very friendly and willing to answer questions about their food. They remember us when we visit. The interior is a small space with no dine in tables since the pandemic. They filled that space with a refrigerated cooler for drinks and such. They also offer prepared shrimp salad rolls to go too. The service was very efficient at the counter with the staff ready to upsell more of their delicious treats in case forget to ask for them. We came back here after our disappointment with our former favorite bahn mi sandwich place in Richmond. This will always be our go to place again. I did try a bahn mi here a long time ago and since living in Kelowna for the past decade I haven't found one that compares to to the ones in east van. Small shop but very clean, bright and one can see the counter with subs and fixings lined up with 4-5 young women assembling the sandwiches with the utmost efficiency . There was also steamed cha sui buns and special drinks but my focus was on a good sub. Ordered 4 special subs and got my number. My order was made up very fast and it was wrapped in parchment paper and loaded into a reusable "cloth" bag. High marks for ease of ordering and quick service. The special bahn mi - fac biet- it was huge and had a good amount of filling. there was the pate that I could taste, the meats and pickled carrots. Very tasty but needed more veggies! Had a sprig of cilantro , a couple pieces of cucumber and lengthwise slice of jalepeno. I wish they put in lots more cilantro and cucumbers as it was missing that satisfying herbaceous crunch. The bread was fresh and chewy but no exterior crispness of a good fresh baked baguette. In all, 3.5 stars for a decent bahn mi. psa CASH Only!!!

Lovely little pasta shop!…read more We walked in on a stormy morning so seats were hard to find. But luckily another couple was leaving. I will say many people came in with scowls because there werent open seats. So be aware it is a very small shop. Which i love. The service was good. The staff was friendly. Some of the grumpy people wanting a seat; did complain to the staff and the staff were very patient with them. We ordered two pastas a coffee and cookies for dessert. My carbonara was sensational one of the best pastas I've had in vancouver. Very well balanced. Excellent flavour profile. My friend also loved her meal and said her coffee was also one of the best shes ever had. My small jam cookie was delicate and sweet. Very impressed. The atmosphere definitely added to the experience. Rainy day and a warm pasta shop. Tables alive with conversation. (The only downside was the washroom definitely left things to be desired. Its understand that in a small space it can be very hard to have everything be aesthetic.) The staff and atmosphere otherwise very charming. Made me homesick for Montreal. I love that smaller places like these are becoming more common place in Vancouver. I will definitely be back to try more of their pastas. And say hello to their staff again. Its a true gem!
