I walked in the shop looking for a spearfishing wetsuit. Randy came down and immediately started asking all the right questions (I used to work in a surf shop, so I know a thing or two about selling a wettie). He got me in what he thought would be the best fit and value for money. After trying on two more suits, his first suggestion was the one I walked out with. Randy was a proper bloke and I enjoyed chatting with him about all things watersports -- dude knows his stuff and is a pleasure to shop with. Can't rave enough about that guy's attitude and overall demeanor. Bill, the owner was super helpful as well! Both of them make for amazing guest experience while shopping. My pups, Honey and Luna, joined in the fun and truly, I've never seen them so happy. We frequent dog parks often which is fine and dandy, however, beach life is a vibe. Even for dogs The location is easy to find and the beach itself is large enough. There are facilities for humans. Definitely a plus! The view was gorgeous with a bunch of boats in the harbor. The other owners were really nice and ultimately, we enjoyed our afternoon here. Next time we come into town, we'll be sure to bring our dogs again.

They both wished to be cremated and have their ashes mixed together and scattered in front of Pirates Cove, which is where they shared their first kiss at the end of their first date in 1960. Unfortunately, that area is now a nude beach and it's people no one wants to see naked. Additionally, we had a pretty good sized crew of people coming for the scattering, so little zodiac boats weren't gonna get the job done. I lucked out in 2023 because the start of the fishing season got pushed into May. This allowed us to rent one of patriot charters and accommodate our entire crew for the scattering in a very safe, easy to access (we have many elderly folks with mobility issues) manner. I was concerned there may be an odor because it IS a fishing vessel, but everything was very clean and well kept. The staff were so incredibly considerate of our loss and behaved in an incredibly kind way. Instructions were simple and concise, and we were able to leave right on time, cruising the bay and playing some of Moms and dad's favorite music as we celebrated their journey. Moments after we scattered their ashes, the captain approached me quietly and slipped me a business card with the exact coordinates of where we had sprinkled mom and dad. That was going above and beyond as far as I'm concerned, and it never even dawned on me to ask for that - but I'm sure glad I have it. It is now a very tasteful, small tattoo signifying my parents final resting place. Thank you so much to patriot fishing, I know this wasn't a fishing review, but I can only imagine how good they take care of their fishing customers if this is how they treat grieving families. A million thank yous for your kindness!

I didn't know how affordable and approachable surf rentals and lessons could be! Rod and his wife…read morerun the place, and they are both genuinely cool people who want you to have a great experience. I decided the day before we went to give it a try for the first time with me and my two sons. Rod made me feel like I was his only customer, even though all of his lessons and classes were fully booked. Since he couldn't fit us in officially we just did rentals, and he still found time between lessons to give me and my sons quick free lessons and encouragement, and he got all of us up on a wave for the first time. He even managed to get some pics for us! I had no idea what to expect with a rental, but Rod clearly wants all of his customers to enjoy themselves, and goes out of his way to make it happen. Next time we'll definitely plan ahead and book lessons to raise our chances of catching more waves and more fun. I highly recommend renting from Rod, and trying to book a lesson!

A nice beach where you can actually drive down too. They did let us know it's only 5 dollars to…read morepark but if you get stuck in the sand they will not tow you. So if you don't think your car can do it they do have free parking in walking distance. We parked and walked down to the beach. The sand was so soft and not hot at all. We happen to show up on a day they were having a sand art competition. It was really cool to see what people can make with sand. My boys tried to make their own tiny scale sand castles too. We did notice they had people selling toys and ice cream out here. This beach did seem A little quieter than pismo. So if you want a slower side to relax this might be the beach for you.

The Sand Dunes are incredibly popular during the summer and allow you to drive on the beach to BBQ and have campfires in the sand. Such a wonderful place to hang out on the weekends with friends and family. They have a beautiful 9-hole hold course with beautiful ocean views, as well as some well maintained RV parks within blocks to the ocean! Grover Beach is growing significantly and there are a lot of small businesses popping up, so it's a great time to be here! Love this little city
