My mother was "treated" at La Clinica after she got injured at work, if you can even call it…read moretreatment. The care she received from Hamada Yehya was unacceptable. My take? Go to someone who is a medical doctor (MD), not a chiropractor. My mother got into a car accident while working and had constant pain in her shoulder. Hamada kept pushing her to do physical therapy before even ordering an MRI to diagnose the issue. She brought this up multiple times with him, but he never ordered her an MRI. This delayed her care for weeks. Getting an MRI was the next step in the process, so I don't understand why Hamada didn't order it sooner. This is the bare minimum and he couldn't even do that. I do not feel like her concerns as a patient were listened to or seriously considered. When she told me how La Clinica and Hamada were handling her care, I immediately scheduled her with another physician, who then ordered her an MRI. Turns out her rotator cuff was TORN and she needs major surgery. Had I never gotten involved, Hamada would have had her doing God knows what with her already torn rotator cuff. I am really baffled by how this situation was handled and the incompetence at La Clinica. I worry that patients who don't know the workers' comp process may not realize they can seek another opinion or advocate for themselves. Don't waste one of your workers' comp doctor choices on this establishment. In Illinois, you generally only get two choices, so choose wisely. FYI, their front desk tried to get my mother set up with their partnership injury lawyers. I took a look at the paperwork for her, and based on what I saw, they take 40%-45% of the personal injury claim. From what I understand, personal injury lawyers commonly take around 33%, so that felt very high to me. Always get multiple opinions on your medical care and legal representation. Don't just accept whatever La Clinica pushes you toward. Actually, just skip this place altogether and make sure your doctor is a physician who knows what they are doing.

After breaking my wrist…read morein a scooter accident, I was anxious about the recovery process and worried about whether I'd regain full strength and mobility. Dr.Fernandez not only repaired my wrist flawlessly, but also guided me through every step of the healing journey with confidence, clarity, and genuine compassion. What really struck me was how closely my injury mirrored the one featured in a Chicago Bulls documentary I recently watched -- the same type of wrist break, the same challenges, and the same determination to get back to normal. Seeing that athlete's recovery story gave me hope, and Dr.Fernandez delivered that same level of expert care in real life. I'm incredibly thankful for the precision of the surgery, the thoughtful follow‑up, and the encouragement that kept me motivated. Thanks to Dr.Fernandez, I'm healing beautifully and feeling stronger every day. If you're looking for a skilled, attentive, and truly outstanding orthopedic specialist, Dr.Fernandez is definitely a step above the rest. (For anyone curious, here's the Chicago Bulls rehab video that inspired me during recovery: link included in my post) https://youtu.be/Xu74mE-C89Y?si=ydZdhd-L4Rv5Au9L

I wanted to take my time before writing this review, but after more than three years since my…read morearthroscopic shoulder surgery with Dr. Nikhil Verma at Rush Orthopedic, I feel compelled to warn others. I was told I'd see improvement within 6 to 16 months. Instead, my condition has steadily worsened. I originally came to Dr. Verma for anterior shoulder pain during heavy pushing exercises. My MRI showed no structural damage--everything looked clean. Still, he recommended exploratory surgery, saying it was common among athletic individuals like me and that he had a 98% success rate. He reassured me that, at worst, I'd be no worse off than before. That trust turned out to be the worst mistake of my life. Despite a failed diagnostic cortisone injection into the biceps tendon (which should have indicated that the biceps was not the pain source), he proceeded with surgery. Post-op, he said he had "found the problem" and performed a biceps tenodesis, debridement, and bone spur shaving. Since then, my pain has become chronic and debilitating, affecting every part of my life. Over the last three years, I've spent more than $100,000 out-of-pocket seeking help from specialists and pain experts across the country. I can no longer sleep properly, run without flare-ups, or maintain my once-active lifestyle. The toll this has taken on my physical and mental health--and my marriage--is beyond words. Four separate orthopedic surgeons have since confirmed that this surgery was unnecessary. I've also met other young, athletic patients who were misled or poorly treated by Dr. Verma and now face long-term damage. After everything, Dr. Verma simply told me he "couldn't help me anymore" and passed me off to other doctors. My final visits were frustrating: long waits, minimal face time, and no accountability. If you're considering surgery with Dr. Verma, I strongly urge you to get multiple opinions and fully explore non-surgical options. Based on my experience, his approach felt rushed, impersonal, and profit-driven. And when things go wrong, there's no ownership. Dr. Verma: the harm you caused has changed my life. I hope whatever money you made from this was worth it.

MIDWEST ORTHOPEDICS AT RUSH AND DR. GREGORY NICHOLSON HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO RIGHT TO DO ANY IME FOR…read moreANY REASON THEY ARE BIAS AGAINST ANYONE THAT NEEDS AN IME. Beware of Dr. Nicholson and the staff at Midwest Orthopedics at Rush. Dr. Nicholson treats patients like they are below him and will make them wait until he decides to see them. He has absolutely no right doing any IME and he has a bias to anyone that needs an IME which he has proven. I had an IME scheduled on 6/14/2024 with Dr. Nicholson. He entered the room talking 90 miles an hour which I could not understand. This is after waiting past my scheduled time. I told him what time I was told my appointment was and he flew off the handle and slammed my file down on the counter and told me to leave because he was not putting up with my attitude. He then walked out. I walked out into the hallway and asked him for something saying that I was there. He said don't worry it will be in your file well I knew that meant that he would put something false in the file which he did. Then in the hallway I made it clear to him that he is not God since clearly, he thinks he is. Then as I was leaving, he yelled down the hallway you have nowhere to go anyway you're on unemployment. This is just another lie by the doctor since I am not on unemployment. He was trying to embarrass me in front of the staff and other doctors. I then left and contacted some lady named Renee with Midwest Orthopedics at Rush with my complaint about this Doctor. She ran back to the doctor and staff and told them a complaint has been filed and for them to get their story straight which from what I am told by some employees that I know is standard for Midwest Orthopedics at Rush. Dr, Nicholson did contact the insurance company that wanted the IME and did tell them outright lies about what happened. He even made-up things to make himself look good which is impossible since he was not in the room more than 1 minute. This Gregory Nicholson even thinks he gets to determine if someone has an angry face on them or not without ever seeing someone before. Then again, he thinks he gets to determine this because he thinks it makes him look good when actually it shows how he stereotypes people for his own benefit. Do not trust anything you are told by Midwest Orthopedics at Rush and Dr. Nicholson. If anyone is ever sent for an IME at Midwest Orthopedics at Rush, make sure to bring this feedback to your lawyers' attention. Then when I asked to speak to the CEO this Renee person tells me I have no right to speak to the CEO then changes it to the CEO refuses to speak with me. It's clear the CEO condones this culture at Midwest Orthopedics at Rush then again chances are the CEO is a physician that has had numerous complaints in the past also and got them covered up also. If they cover up what doctors do in the office can you imagine what is being covered up in the operating room? DO NOT TRUST THE DOCTORS ESPECIALLY GREGORY NICHOLSON AT MIDWEST ORTHOPEDICS TO BE IMPARTIAL TO ANYONE THAT IS GETTING AN IME HERE.

Everyone there was amazing, but a special shout out to Brenda. She made this whole ordeal so easy to navigate. This location is super convenient on the 7th Floor of the Mart - connected to another gym. In terms of the insurance and initial set-up - Nicole is great to work with. Extremely organized and thoroughly looks into your insurance for you. That is a great thing b/c you definitely want to know what your costs are going in before you start the therapy. So - for me - having to fill out the initial forms was not a big deal. It's also a great way for the therapists to know where your concerns/pains are. Speaking of therapists - they are fabulous! Depending on your times, you'll rotate between Emily, Jackie and Kelly. The hours are super convenient and they really do accommodate your schedule. I liked the rotation b/c each of them had different advice/techniques that you can apply. It's been two months since my last therapy session. The key take away is to keep up the in-home exercise program. I bought different weights as well as the TheraCane (i.e. the 'TheraWench') to use at home. I definitely miss the massages and stories you hear there. While you might be in pain going into your session, you'll leave feeling more relaxed, and you'll laugh at least once during your time there! If you need therapy in the future, I highly recommend the Athletico @ the Mart. The staff is outstanding - from the therapists to the PA assistants to the front desk.
