I gave…read morehim two stars because he did spot a condition that I didn't know I had (verified elsewhere) He also did the following: -Gave me incorrect information more than once and didn't listen at all when I told him he was wrong. (he implied I should be dead by now, and because I wasn't, some of my issues weren't worth looking into ) -flat out denied that I had a condition which TWO rheumatologists verified. - repeatedly said contradictory things between appointments - avoided answering my questions like it was an Olympic sport. - was incredibly condescending to the point of telling me what I was feeling -touched me without warning me, I'm used to this, but other patients might be upset by it. - had someone call to schedule an MRI. Twice the person who called said they'd call me back after selecting a location and nothing came of it. That's not counting my three other attempts where I didn't even get a call. - had me schedule an injection and a) didn't tell me what the injection was (I assumed based on my own knowledge, but this could be a big issue for others) b) failed to tell me it was done under sedation, meaning I'd have to bring someone with me. (I only found out when I called the surgery center to ask why I got sedation instructions)

I was constantly being harrased by her nasty comments about me. It got to a point where she did not want me or another coworker speaking Spanish! At all. I brought it up to uppermanagement and they also agreed with her no speaking spanish . When it is NO where in their work policy about speaking Spanish. But yet there was 80 percent Latino Hispanic patients to take care of there we were able to speak our Spanish language. Got to a point where I left. Uppermanagement is ALL women with no full experience on how to handle situations like this. I worked as a medical assistant with IPM. How can this providers continue to see Hispanic pts and being such a racist and manipulate entire office againt me... Dr xia is a great doctor but needs to look out for his staff too.

For scheduling, insurance and payments, the "Patient Experience Coordinator" was unfriendly and abrupt, making interactions uncomfortable. I regularly worked with two physical therapists at this location for 1-2 sessions per week for more than 6 months. During each one hour visit, I worked directly with the physical therapist for 30 minutes and was then turned over to a young trainee/student for exercises. The level of competence of the trainee varied widely. Some paid attention and offered clear direction and others handed out balls or bands and then walked off. After not progressing with my recovery, I left this Athletico and spent months under the care of physical therapists at a hospital affiliated office where the full 60 minute session is with the physical therapist only. The level of care and my recovery progress increased immediately. Something to note, my insurance covered physical therapy with the same copay at the Athletico location and at my new physical therapy office. The value of care provided couldn't have been farther apart.

I'm doing better in one month than others I know 6 months out who had been through the same surgery. Daniel, Jessica and the assistants have all been patient, professional and understanding. I saw the APAC doctor at the office on Broadway and Diversey, but feel my experience was awful…read moreenough to be worth repeating for all the locations. Went to see one of the doctors, referred by my orthopedic surgeon. The APAC doctor completely ignored my actual complaints, did a perfunctory exam, and told me I needed to go on an expensive name-brand medication for a condition that I've never been diagnosed with - and which requires a neurologist to diagnose. I refused, which clearly pissed the doctor off. He proceeded to diagnose me with a certain joint dysfunction that could only be addressed with a floroscopy-guided steroid injection. No other treatments possible, no other option, injection or nothing. I had the injection, despite my misgivings, because I really am in a great deal of pain. It hurt, but that's to be expected. I was hustled out the door afterwards with the briefest aftercare instructions possible, presumably because I was the last appointment before lunch. I assume the rush to get me out the door is the reason they didn't warn me that the steroid injection also contained a heavy-duty anesthetic that would make my leg, from the hip down, completely numb. My leg gave out as I left the building and I went face-down on the sidewalk. I had to be assisted into a cab, wobbled my way to my house, and had to literally CRAWL up the stairs. The next two days were spent on crutches. Once the anesthetic wore off, my pain returned. A visit to my orthopedic surgeon this morning confirmed my suspicion - there is nothing wrong with the joint in question. I received a painful, expensive procedure with significant risks and side effects to deliver a shot of steroids to a perfectly healthy joint. Avoid at all costs. Unless, of course, you have an extra $5,000 or so and you'd like to get a needle full of anesthetic and steroid shoved into a perfectly healthy joint. Update 11/12 - APAC has contacted me by phone and postal mail to alert me to the fact that the steroid that was used in the injection is from the batch tainted with fungal meningitis. Two patients from the Chicago-area APAC centers have developed the illness. It's been over fouth months since my injections, so I'm unlikely to be sick, but it's infuriating. Talk about adding insult to injury - or in this case, injury to insult. I've also been diagnosed with a congenital malformation of the femoral neck. There is absolutely nothing wrong with my SI joint.

I went to three visits. At the first visit, he said get an MRI. He didn't know or have knowledge…read morethat the MRI in the hospital where he worked was too narrow of an opening to accommodate the width of my shoulders. I would have thought a simple visual assessment at the time of my visit would have been sufficient. Instead, I was delayed and strung along for two more visits. He didn't submit the correct paperwork for the MRI so it was denied by the insurance. Finally, after two more visits, going for the MRI was unsuccessful so he wrote a prescription for an "Open MRI" at a facility 17 miles away from my home in the far Western suburbs. He prescribed me with Lidocaine patches yet he refused to proovide the insurance the necessary documentation for the patches and it was denied. Even after I asked his staff and the hospital administrator to ask him to send the documentation to BCBS, he never did it. Eventually, I transferred to Dr. Shah who scheduled me for treatment the same day, prrovided all the necessary insurance paperwork immediately and I finally got treatment from dr. Shaha after months of Candido stalling and denying me treatment. Dr. Candido is a "Yes" man to the insurance company and a "No" man to helping patients. Also, I told him that MEloxicam didn't help. I told him it was causing me to fall asleep constantly. Instead of prescribing a different muscle relaxant (As Dr. Shah did on the first visit), Dr. Candido wrote a refill for Meloxicam and I never filled it. I continued to be in excruciating pain because Candido couldn't be bothered to listen to the needs of a patient and write a proper, useful prescription.

By the time I left, my annual check up turned into two visits at the suggestion of the doctor. I was following his recommendation. Additionally, I was told my annual wasn't covered b/c i asked questions outside of the scope of and annual visit. I was told discussing my daily medication at an annual check up is not allowed.
