The studio itself is large and spacious. The workout equipment is in great shape and spotlessly clean thanks to the hardworking attendant whose job it is to set up and clean up. The instructor introduced himself and welcomed me to class, and explained the set up of the class and how the intervals would be done. He asked me if I had any injuries, I told him none except for the fact that I'm really out of shape. He laughed and promised me any modifications I need, and told me to go at my own pace. This was a really challenging class, but the instructor and group camaraderie made it fun and bearable. I'd recommend Carpe Diem to anyone looking for a fun and effective workout.

We literally worked every part of our body and I was sore for like 4 days after. The treadmill parts were especially grueling because, as a beginner, I was sandwiched in between people running on like 10.0 speed and I'm barely breathing trying to run on 7.0. I loved how the music was blasting and the lights were dim, so that we could suffer without being heard or seen by anyone else. The instructor, Josey, was great. He was upbeat and his instructions were very clear. I didn't know how he would pull off telling two groups of people two different sets of instructions, but he pulled it off! The Facility: Parking is a mad house. You should come maybe 10 minutes before the class so you can get all the spaces that the people from the class before you vacate. If you come too early, you won't find any parking. The gym itself is small and no frills. They have towels and water bottles, but I didn't see a water machine to refill your own water. Also they provide little cubbies in the main workout room so you won't have to worry about your stuff. My suggestion: For beginners, you should start on the floor and pick a spot in the middle row so you can see all the pros in front of you but also not feel pressure to be perfect. You'll also get a treadmill by the front door so you can go out and get a new towel (or air) without walking past everyone. All in all, I can't wait to do Barry's again and this location in particular was great.

I've been to Hill Street a few times over the years and always get a good workout. The instructors…read moreare friendly and supportive and know their stuff. I've taken the class that kicks off with weights, cardio, and boxing drills, then transitions to bag work--each person gets their own bag, and the instructor leads you through combos. There's usually a second instructor walking around with mitts, and everyone get some one-on-one attention (or in my case, super helpful corrections on form and footwork). Class usually wraps with core work plus (abs, pushups, sometimes squats). The facility has clean, new bathrooms and showers, and it connects with the newer Pilates and megaformer studios next door. Highly recommend if you're into boxing or looking for a high-energy, full-body workout.

The nerves subsided when I entered Hill Street Boxing's spacious studio and was greeted by a friendly instructor who explained the four station warmup to me. The class kicked off with a circuit workout that included a treadmill run, jump rope and speed bag portion. I'd never used a speed bag before, and appreciated the instructor taking the time to help me get over the learning curve. Next, we rotated through 7 stations that consisted of a mix of work on the bags, walking backward on the treadmill to mimic backing away from an opponent (a lot harder than it looks), plus some squat series and a station where you fight the instructor. The instructor walked me through the harder stations like the treadmill, and worked patiently with me when it was my turn to fight him. It took a while for me to remember the numbers that corresponded with each punch, but by the end of the class it pretty much came back to me. The class ended with three rounds of speed punches, hard punches and jump squats, as well as a round of core exercises to finish things off. The only thing I would add to this workout is a series of stretches at the end, but there was enough time at the end of class to allow you to do it on your own. Would definitely recommend taking this class if you're in the area!

Unfortunately, due to kids and traffic, we (3 of us went) were late which I am usually 30 min early for class. So I was nervous they would not let us in and so very grateful they did. They were in the middle of the warm-up which is fairly basic. In the studio, I normally go to they encourage advance options even in the beginning so I was jumping back instead of stepping back. This was just normal for me. At first, the teacher hovered over me, then he knelt down and stated with a very big degrading attitude "If you would like to do your own warm up you can do it out there where it's totally free". I was so taken aback and embarrassed totally ruined the overpriced $33 class for me. By no means was I trying to be disrespectful and he could have handled this totally differently. It's sad that the instructor had such an entitled Hamptons attitude.

The ladies who work there were incredibly helpful in setting up newbies. I wanted to buy a T-shirt but didn't try one on because I was so sweaty after class. I came back the next day and even though the place was closed for business because they were putting out the new fall line, the ladies still let me in to try on clothes and buy my shirt. The level of dance ranges from teaching the little ones ballet to competitive competitions for the company dancers. I have my three girls dancing with dancehampton and my oldest has been involved now for nine years. Needless to say my wife and I are entirely happy and satisfied.
