A couple of months ago, I endured one of the worst weekends imaginable. My toddler suffered a terrible accident through which she sustained extensive damage to four of her top teeth. This was on a Friday. After she received initial care at a local ER, she was left requiring a visit to an actual pediatric dentist. I called Small to Tall Dentistry at the recommendation of another Dentist and spoke with Dr. Rudder. This was on a Sunday afternoon and after hours; he was the on-call Dentist. Dr. Rudder gave advice on at-home measures I could take and gave us an appointment first thing the next day. The faculty, from the receptionist to staff, were incredibly knowledgeable. More importantly, they were so patient and very kind to my 3 year old. She had suffered so much trauma in the last few days and was very frightened of anyone poking or prodding her mouth. The assistants that dealt with her directly made her feel completely at ease and were able to take the x-rays, complete their assessment of the damage and extract the two remaining teeth. I cannot overstate my gratitude for Dr. Rudder and his team. He showed a tremendous amount of compassion, empathy and professionalism. I even received a follow up, hand-written note from Dr. Rudder inquiring about my child, how she was healing and wishing us well wishes. You don't see genuine care like that these days. My only regret is not having this team follow us to our next location. Thank you, Dr. Rudder and team. I will be forever grateful. read more

I rarely leave reviews, but I feel other parents deserve to know about our experience. All three of my children were recommended for significant dental treatment at this office. My youngest was told he had multiple "very deep" cavities that were "close to the nerve" and needed full sedation. My middle child was told he had severe cavities, would likely need conscious sedation, and might even need to be restrained because he probably wouldn't sit still. We were told they couldn't even get his X-rays because he wouldn't cooperate, but that they would take them while he was sedated. My daughter was told she had a cavity that needed to be drilled and filled. I expressed concern about how invasive these treatment plans seemed, especially for my boys. When I decided to cancel the procedures and seek a second opinion, the response was discouraging. I was told that if we tried treatment with nitrous instead and it didn't work, there would be a $100 "try fee." When I requested copies of my youngest son's X-rays, I was told, "I doubt you have the technology to view them," which I found incredibly dismissive. Today, all three of my children were seen by another dentist, and the findings were dramatically different. My daughter was found to have no cavity at all. My middle child's records from this office included X-rays that had already been taken--despite us being told they were never able to get any because he wouldn't cooperate. He also had nothing that required immediate treatment. My youngest had fewer cavities than we were originally told, they were not deep or close to the nerve, and they can be treated without novocaine or nitrous. All three of my children sat calmly and cooperated wonderfully during their exams. The differences between the two evaluations were alarming. I am incredibly thankful that I trusted my instincts and sought a second opinion before allowing my children to undergo sedation and extensive dental work. Based on our experience, I cannot recommend this office. read more

I am very disappointed in the care my daughter received the 5 years that she was established at Small to Tall Pediatric Dentistry. I am equally disappointed in myself as a parent and a health care provider for not seeking another dentist sooner and trusting this dentist. I am a Family Medicine Provider, I rarely leave reviews but I am disheartened and need to communicate this message. My daughter is fearful of all medical clinics as she was in the ICU for a week when she was 3 years old. Yes, she will cry and resist dental treatment likely for a lifetime. A child crying should not limit the treatment or halt the exam. We visited this Dentist on 9 occasions with the intent of getting my daughters teeth examined, cleaned and x-rayed. In the totality of the 9 visits, we received no x-rays or cleaning, the exam was rescheduled each time because my daughter cried. Our Last visit I urged the Dental tech to continue getting the x-ray and just allow her to cry as she was having dental pain. The Dental tech denied continuing. The diagnosis was possible abscess but unknown without xray. Nine attempts to get her teeth cleaned without result. The chart notes were requested; the assessment & plan was cut and paste formulaically every visit with instruction on teeth brushing. I immediately transferred care to Dupont Pediatric density, and they worked magic, did an x-ray and cleaning same day. My Daughter did in fact have an Abscess and was given Antibiotics and referred for appropriate treatment. Please Parents, learn from this. Seek another Dentist if your child is not getting the care you feel they need and deserve. Shame on you Small to Tall pediatric Dentistry. What an amazing team of doctors! I was referred here to get my daughters teeth fixed and from the moment I scheduled her appointment to having her treatment done was a breeze. The only thing I have to say was the wait time to get her on the schedule. It took about two months for her to be seen. However aside from that I'm so glad I waited. The best thing I loved about this office is they have the option of doing procedures in their office rather then going to a hospital. My daughter had 5 teeth that needed to get fixed and it only took exactly an hour to get everything done. Also a big thank you to Dr Donald Lee, he is a great anesthesiologist with great bedside manner. And to Dr Rowley for doing a fantastic job on my daughters teeth! Wasn't pleased at all. I wish the Dr would have stopped and thought about the age of the patient and how long she would be without teeth. I also wish he would have taken the time to repair her teeth instead of taking them out. His reason for taking them was a bunch of B* and I don't believe it for a second. I think he just didn't want to take the time to repair them so he pulled them. Now my daughter will be without teeth for several years, she now has a lisp which she spoke very clear before and I will probably have to put her in speech therapy. My kids have been patients for several years and the availability for appointments has been very limited. They often schedule appointments for 3-4 months in the future if at all. After waiting for over four months for an appointment for my 3 year old daughter I was contacted the day before the scheduled appointment and asked to update my insurance information. I'm changing insurance and couldnt get a resolution on that by the next day. I offered to pay cash but was told the appointment would have to be cancelled. They refused to make any accommodation and just refused care for my 3 year old daughter and five year old son. I would not trust these people with anyone's kids and especially never with mine again.They clearly are very unethical and unwilling to work with anyone even after having an established relationship for years. Zero stars and would not recommend to anyone. read more

My child really struggled to go to the dentist before coming here and looks forward to it now. Her regular dentist here is a gem and the staff here is wonderful. Probably no better in our area. The only neutral feedback to be given is in regards to awareness: another dentist filled in for her regular one and I asked regarding orthodontia because it was mentioned before at a prior visit as a possibility when another family member brought her in - as a single earner household we would need to save for such an expense. This dentist kind of shrugged it off because even the referral would be a ways out. I felt like breaking it down: yes, but you see we would need to save for it for awhile, so knowing 1-2 years or 4-5 years, even a rough timeline for referral would be helpful to know. Like are we saving $50 a month towards it or $100 a month, or more...? read more

The best dentist place ever! I have never seen my son so calm at the dentist! They are great! I highly recommend this place for littles! They have special wording that helps a lot. After we visit my son always asks if his sugar bugs are still asleep. I always have to tell him that they sucked the sugar bugs up in the vacuum and they are all gone. Dr Rowley listened to my concerns and completed all treatment for my 5 year old in 2 comfortable visits. He even sent a card asking how my son was doing. Our, barely 2 year old, took a fall and chipped and broke, and pushed up his two front teeth. This happened on Labor Day evening. The on-call dentist was very nice and checked in on him often. Our regular dentist was out of town for the holiday. We took our child in to be seen the next day, and the dentist that saw him wouldn't take x-rays. The assistant called him, a barely 2 year old, uncooperative (he cried) and they wouldn't do x-rays. The dentist then said she wanted to pull the tooth, with general anesthesia, the next day. Not due to him being in pain, or it was problematic, but because it was convenient for them. It hadn't been 24 hours from the injury. I asked for x-rays, but they said they would do them while he was under. Our regular pediatric dentist advised us to wait until x-rays were done before doing this. We listened to him and the tooth has come back into the normal position, no discoloration, no abscesses. Nothing the the dentist from this office said was going to happen, has happened. Our regular dentist advised us that recommendation for this is to wait 4 weeks to see if the tooth/teeth will readjust. As long as there isn't pain and abscesses it is best to wait for the swelling and mouth to heal. If we had listened to the first dentist, our baby would have had to under go general anesthesia and the tooth being pulled when it wasn't even necessary. The office waiting area is very child friendly. The response from the on-call dentist was very nice. But the actual visit with the dentist in office is not something I would do again. read more

We've seen all of the dentists here over the last 12 years, and have really enjoyed them all! The hygienists are wonderful as well. At a cleaning visit today, my kids, ages 16 and 11 were seen by Dr. Craig. She is not only a great dentist, but I love how she interacted with both of my kids on a level that suited them. We all felt so at ease, and I'm so appreciative of how hard this office works to maintain such a wonderful atmosphere. read more

This is a great place . My son was afraid of the Denist at first we started coming here and he has loved the dentist ever since. Dr. Rudder is incredible. When they did my sons teeth cleaning they put a movie on for him to distract him and he had a great visit. I give them 5stars and recommend this place to all children of all ages. read more

Took my son here for his first dental appointment. I had expected it to be scary for my son but each staff member took their time and let him know exactly what they were going to do. Kathy was our hygienist and she was friendly and upbeat. My son LOVED her. No problems cleaning and polishing his teeth. Dr. Ruder came in for the exam, and counted his teeth with superheroes. GREAT JOB all around. Billing was upfront and no surprise costs came up at the end of our appointment. Kathy even did a follow up call a few days after our appointment if any questions came up. The Small to Tall staff is amazing. They have treated all 3 of my children for over 7 years now. They educate the kids, talk to them respectfully, and always explain what the plan for the visit will be. The dentists themselves have created such a caring environment that you feel it from the moment you walk in the door. Everyone is friendly, warm, and personable. I took my little man here after several horrible experiences with various local dentists... I truly felt I would never find a good dentist but I was very blessed to be recommended to this office. The woman dentist that did the work was amazing. She explained to him what was going to happen before proceeding with doing the filling and most importantly, she (and her assistant) did not hose him down with the water and try to drown him without suctioning. This alone was my biggest fear for him as that is what had happened at all other dentists' offices I had taken him to! Everything was done to perfection, no complaints whatsoever and the billing was very seamless as well! Because I am dually covered, they required absolutely nothing out of pocket!! I will be sending my twin girls here as well for any work they may need in the future. if you r a military family and have metlife as ur dental insurance, dont go to this place!!! they will hit u with a bill before ur dental trip is over, on top of that they will send u a bigger bill in the mail because metlife doesnt cover the work they do. with my other dentist in hawaii, i never had to make a payment at the office...here, all they did was a cleaning and some xrays on my son and i had to pay $30+ bucks in their office and on top of that i got a $100+ bill in the mail because they said metlife didnt cover the rest. this place is a RIPOFF!!!!! read more

The Dentist and Staff are awesome. They are exceptionally tender with my son who has experience trauma at his last ped dentist. I can not say enough about them! I however can not say the same about the billing. She is awful to deal with and I have never had a simple exchange with them and my insurance. From incorrect billing to poor information to getting late charges for her incompetence. Granted I have yet to pay for her mistakes yet, but I am still processing a procedure from over 6 months ago. If the Dentists and staff were not so great I would find services elsewhere. If billing keeps following the same trend......I will leave. Find a competent office manager! read more

I love this office. Before we even came to our first appointment the dr called to introduce himself and see if we had any questions about our visit. My daughter (8) is pretty anxious about dentists and drs visits so I was a bit apprehensive about the whole visit. I'm never sure if it's best to let them take over and me to stay out of it or if I should cut in and try to keep her in line. I did not have to worry about it at all!! Her dental tech was named Taylor (I think) she was amazing!!!!! She explained everything to my daughter before she did it and made her laugh and comfortable with every single thing that she did. She got her to do X-rays polishing flossing everything. (She does floss and brush at home she's just apprehensive about someone else doing it) it was amazing and such a huge relief. My son (6) had a great checkup as well. I left feeling much relief and the only reason I would give any kind of negative mark would be because the tech that worked with my daughter said she might be quitting to go back to school soon (so sad!!!) we loved her so much!!!! read more

We have been coming here with our kids for over 10 years - the oldest of our 10 kids is 18 now. Everyone here is so kind and patient, especially with our little kids who are always nervous when they first start coming. As they get older, the kids are super relaxed because they have been made to feel so at home here. The office and the staff are totally geared toward kids, and explain everything to them in ways that makes them comfortable with the experience.
