I am the parent of a 13-year-old who has autism. He is high-functioning but does have sensory issues, so I always make a point to clearly explain his needs at first visits. I want to start by saying the dental assistant was absolutely amazing. After I gave him a brief rundown of my son, he was patient, kind, and extremely skilled. He was able to take all necessary X-rays, clean my son's entire mouth, and even floss -- which is not easy for a child with sensory sensitivities. My son did phenomenally and felt great about the appointment. Unfortunately, everything changed when Dr. Eric Sun entered the room. Because this was our first visit, I began to give the doctor the same explanation so he would understand my son's needs. Before he even looked into my son's mouth, the doctor stated that the chances of him treating my son's cavity were likely slim due to my son's autism, age, and size. To be clear, my son is a typical teenage-sized 13-year-old boy, with no history of behavioral issues, and he had just demonstrated excellent cooperation. The way the doctor spoke to me felt condescending, alarmist, and exaggerated. When I calmly asked why the situation was being presented in such an alarmist manner, the interaction immediately became hostile. He responded with, "I'm sorry you think I'm being melodramatic. Is it okay if I talk now?" I have never experienced such an uncomfortable or adversarial encounter in a dental office. Thankfully, I had my adult daughter with me for moral support, and she quietly encouraged me to stay calm. The dental assistant stood silently, visibly uncomfortable, staring at the floor. We left shortly afterward. I made sure to tell the dental assistant how wonderful he was, as none of this reflected on him. I briefly mentioned the experience to the receptionist while asking for a business card, knowing it likely would not go anywhere. I also made sure not to upset my son, who believed the appointment went well and had no idea what was happening around him. I am leaving this review because if you have a child with special needs, this is not the place to go. Parents should not feel dismissed or belittled for advocating for their children. This was one of the most uneasy and distressing medical encounters I've ever experienced -- and unfortunately, as a parent of an autistic child, I've experienced many. Please avoid this office if your child requires understanding, patience, and respectful care. read more

Switched to this office for my kids, as my previous one just wasn't a great fit for us and I'm SO happy I did. Everyone here was so sweet and amazing towards my girls. It's unfortunate because the actual doctor we had was very very knowledgeable & professional. However I don't think I am going to come back. This place is sooooo unsanitary I'm actually shocked it's still in business considering they are doing medical procedures on children here.... When I noticed, I almost walked out but we were just getting a cleaning & xrays. Dental assistant called my kid a "weirdo" yelled at my kid constantly for not being able to open his mouth "wider" it was open pretty wide she told them that "she's trying to figure out what is going on because they cannot listen" super unprofessional behavior which sucks because the doctor we saw is always wonderful and patient and kind. Wouldn't recommend. Even after taking my children here for years, I was still treated like crap. Decided to cancel my sons GA appt because I wanted a second opinion before extracting a tooth especially because the dentist didn't give much insight. Now they're refusing to see all four of my children even though we've never canceled like this, missed an appt, or have been a no call no show. From booking an appt with reception, Very fast and convenient (they work with you on what is best for your schedule) My girls did not complain at all ( from filling out new patient paperwork to copies of my id and insurance card. very respectful) to waiting in the waiting room or to getting the exam.. I normally love this place, but today my son went in to extract two loose teeth and get a filling. He came out missing 4 teeth. No one warned me, no one asked if it was ok. They just handed me four teeth and when I asked wtf happened they said "I thought the nurse told you"! Then they gave me some s excuse about them being loose. He's 8, his back molars were NOT loose! I was trying to check in my child 15 minutes before her appointment like they ask. No one was at the front desk. No one was answering phones. I stood there for 15 minutes before someone came up and it was only after a dental tech got back from outside seeing us up here. We could hear them all in the back laughing and singing what is on the speakers. I will be trying to find a different dentist for my daughter. We have had a great experience here. Today stuck out due to one amazing person. I believe her name was Rose and she was one of the hygienists. She was incredible with my kids, from the conversation to her demeanor. My son has crippling anxiety when it comes to dental work and she talked him down and was so calm and nurturing. Very strange and bizarre place. Unorganized and everyone seems rushed. This staff was new, not the staff that had previously treated my son. Communication was dead on arrival unless they were talking amongst themselves. I was so disturb with their rushed behavior that I got a second opinion, which benefitted me greatly. The place was over crowded, 1 restroom for all the patients. Do not go here or trust their staff. They are only in it for the money. This staff is new and not the same. I believe this business is family ran and owned. On my previous visit it seemed more colorful, happy, and even a common friend from school may work there. This place is different. I really like the dentist and the dental assistants because they are great too. However, this office is managed terribly. They stay over booking. The way they book creates long wait times. Example: My kids had back to back appointments set for 10 A.M. didn't make it to the back till 10:40 and work with the dentist didn't happen till 11: 10. The dental assistant was apologetic, but it was not her fault. The booking front staff, whose fault it was, didn't care. Heck during check out she joked about how it's always like this. Today I experienced some of the worst patient care ever !as a health care professional myself ,I know what to expect. My child and I we're not even spoken to when we entered the facility. Instead we got told to come around back . We get to the dental chair and the dental assistant named Nancy proceeded to set things up to give care to my daughter after her set up was complete she headed towards my daughters mouth with her tools without even having the common courtesy to tell my daughter what was happening. So my child stopped her and asked her what was she doing that's when she explained to her that she was brushing her teeth after she brushed her teeth which by the way was a very uncomfortable experience for my daughter ,she than said that she needed to get x-rays and she looked at me and told me to stay there I did not stay there I got up and I followed them to the x-ray room where I stood outside the room until my daughter was done after that we go back to the dentist chair still no words were said to my daughter from Nancy, the dentist entered the room says hello is very kind ,asked me if I have any concerns and continue to do her exam. After the exam the dentist asked if I had any concerns and I asked to speak her about the patient care we just received from Nancy , she than told me she would get her manger,so the manager comes and take us back to his office and the 1st thing he says to me is " well if you haven't noticed we are short staffed " which I replied So! That has nothing to do with the poor patient care we received and than he goes on to tell me how sorry he was for her behavior to which I replied she should be the on apologizing not you he also went on to tell that she had worked there for awhile and has never had a complaint to which I said so again because that had nothing to do with how she performed her job today. Bottom line is that I will NEVER go back to the dental office again. I am Extremely irritated that as a loyal customer/patient for over 7 years I now have to find a new dentist for my child to receive care ! read more

I'm blown away by the other reviews I've seen. We have had good experiences. I love the staff and the hygienists have always been so friendly, kind and professional. Dr Minh and Dr Haught are very professional and encouraging. They have taken time to answer all of my questions and the questions of my son. He has gone from a scared screaming mess to completely relaxed since his last check up. My son doesn't like the texture of the polish so the hygienist moved quickly and did everything she could to help my son be comfortable and empowered. He and I both enjoy the kid appropriate tvs hanging from the ceiling. I love that they schedule you as you are leaving so Its just done. And the treat dispensers for the trinkets at the end save me from the never ending hell that is "treasure chests." Great location close to the freeway. Parking lot could be better but not really something they can control. Now the not so great- I needed to change my appointment due to a new job and there wasn't another appointment for over a month. The lack of flexibility is an issue. They said they wanted to expand the practice and I can see this becoming more difficult with more people. I don't know what has happening yesterday but we couldn't get X-rays. The DR assured me that he looks great but the hygienists took us back for X-rays twice and there was a girl on the phone in the room. I'm not sure if it was a personal or professional call but she could have told my hygienist what was happening or how long it was going to be. My hygienist tried really hard to make it right but the hand held machine didn't work, and something else didn't work.... not thrilled. She even admitted that his images were really old. We waited about 10 mins before the DR told us we should be fine. I would still recommend this place. We had one bump in the road and I'm sure that Dr Haught is looking into this tech issue day we had. They care. If you have questions ask. And treat them with the respect that you would want in return and I promise you will be happy. read more

Horrifying experience. I would sue if I thought I had any chance of it going anywhere. We went in for what I was told would be ONE crown and a handful of fillings. After my daughter was under GA, they came out and said they wanted to pull two baby K9s due to crowding. (Why this wasn't part of the plan makes no sense, they were crowded two weeks ago at the initial appointment) At this point, she's already under and we felt pressured to make a decision quickly since her brain is at risk every minute she's under. Assuming they know what's best for her, we reluctantly agreed. She came out and had FIVE crowns in her mouth, not one. She's been screaming and crying all afternoon about being "pinned down" - that they held her hands down and forced the mask on, when she "asked nicely" if she could have a few more seconds to breathe before putting the mask on. "They pinned me down against my will!!" When I called to find out why she had 5 crowns instead of the 1, I discovered they also did a root canal that was never mentioned! They said we signed an authorization for it. My husband is the one that signed & said he was only told about the two extractions, which I know was true because he called me in that moment to confirm I was OK with the two extractions before signing. No mention of any other change of plan. The signature was done on an electronic pad, so we never had a chance to see what we were signing. My daughter is horrified about her appearance with a mouth full of silver, traumatized from being pinned against her will - and even at 9 years old, she knows "they only did it for the money". I'm appalled, disgusted and don't know what to do. Under no circumstances did we have Informed Consent about what was just done to our beautiful baby girl. I was told the dentist would call me to discuss, but that hasn't happened. If we weren't under state insurance this would have been entirely different. As it was, we're a walking blank check & they know it. I so wish I had found these other reviews before moving forward with them. Do your research, go somewhere else. Dr. Todd is amazing! She did my daughters dental work in less than 15 mins, she talked to her the whole entire time saying "good job sweetie" and other encouraging words. The dental assistant helped a lot, was very kid friendly and together they made the process extremely smooth and enjoyable.My daughter loved her and was as comfortable with her as she is at our home, I'm thankful we have such an amazing dentist. They answered my questions, took time with us and were thorough.The waiting room has coloring pages, colored pencils and also kids cartoons. Very clean. Staff is all very nice. Very kid friendly. I will never be going back here. My son (5) had been referred by his primary dentist to a pediatric dentist for one cavity to be filled. When the dentist came in he told us that we needed to crown almost all my sons teeth with Silver which scared my son. If I didn't know better I would have maybe given it a thought, but he tried doing the same thing to my nephew, so I was wondering if he would do the same to my son, and he did. I asked him if he would just fill the one cavity and he said " No, go somewhere else" he walked out and was very upset. I felt like he was trying to get as much money as possible and one filling wasn't worth his time. We Just scheduled an appointment for my son at Small to tall and my fiancé went in and asked them about crowns and caps and they said only if the tooth is really bad, which is not the case for any of my sons teeth let alone 15. Make sure you do your research. I just want to make sure your kids are not getting a mouth full of metal when it's not necessary. If I were you I would just avoid this place if possible. read more

So there's a lot of negative reviews and maybe I just went on a day where they were exceptionally friendly. Had an 8am appointment and for some reason I thought it would be a great idea to take all 3 of my kids ages 4-1 at the same time. My 1 year old probably screamed 75% of the time but the staff was incredibly patient. The doctor was running late with another patient but the tech was incredibly nice and explained the situation. Don't be fooled by those stars. We had a very bad experiences. When I asked for them send a pre-treatment plan to my insurance company, they gave me an estimate that they calculated. I called them 3 or 4 times to ask and explain what I requested, and was told same thing. Last Friday, I called the office and was told their manager would call me at Monday. I waited all day but didn't receive any phone call from them. This morning, I called their office again and was told their manager said that they don't send the plan to my insurance any more which is a common request for a patient. Have had a pretty ok experience with this place until today... after sitting in the waiting room for 25 min they decided to let me know that THEY made my kids' appointment a month early and I'd have to wait until next month for a cleaning. This is of course after having this appointment for a month, double checking the appointment, taking time off of work and taking my kids out of school early... not even an apology... just a "well we can give you a $10 gift card to Starbucks" I don't even drink coffee!! My girls love this dentist office, with kids moving from their old dentist they were kinda scared to go somewhere else, but they love how they have the tv on the ceilings and that they have all the characters on the wall. Although they are aimed towards working on children, I wondered how much training they had in pediatrics. My son was okay with the place, but he was just in for a cleaning and check up. I have been taking both of my daughters here for a couple of years now. So far its been really good experiences, but maybe that's because we have been doing mostly cleanings, check ups and preventative care. I recently had to bring my oldest in because she chipped her left front incisor very badly, right down to the root. Only 1-2 weeks before, she chipped the other incisor, but just the corner. These were both incidents that happened at school, due to just being clumsy on the playground, and not using equipment correctly during gym class. Both incidents were on record with the school nurse's office, and determined to be run-of-the-mill bad luck. But when I brought her in to Dr. Minh's office, I was repeatedly asked to give the facts which made me feel as if I was somehow being flagged for abuse or neglect, which I don't take kindly to at all. I spoke up and informed them that I would be happy to provide incident reports for them if there were any more questions, even after consistently repeating the facts. They blew it off like it was no big deal, but I still have my misgivings, due to the fact that his assistant seemed a bit untrusting and weird in her attitude. She was also cold, unfriendly, and unwilling to speak to me aside from what was absolutely necessary. By the way, about attitude...I agree with several reviews here, criticizing the staff's demeanor. It seems to be hit or miss. I have called in the past and received a warm hello and conversation with one receptionist, and then I have gotten total callousness from another, both on the phone and in person. Its like I'm an inconvenience or something. It never used to be like this, and I must say I'm underwhelmed. I had hoped for better treatment in an already stressful situation, and what is nerve wracking is that now my daughter needs a procedure with sedation to fix her teeth. I am not allowed in the room with her, which I have been assured is standard procedure, but still not happy about it, given the poor treatment we have received so far. But it is something that needs to be done right away, so I have no choice but to bring her back. I guess I will see what happens on her next visit, and go from there. My advice is if anyone has a child that is involved in an accident that requires their services, go in there prepared to be accused of something you didn't do, even if its unspoken. And bring documentation with you, for your own protection. My thoughts are they will most likely back down at that point because you mean business. read more

Was totally underwhelmed by the staff and the dentist. The facility also seemed a little dirty. After kid #1's appointment, she asked for a drink of water, and was told they didn't have any water to drink. What kind of dentist doesn't have pixie cups or even a water fountain? Like another one star review, I would give this place negative stars. The staff is rude and uncaring and incompetent--they lost my daughter's records when she returned for a cleaning. The staff refused to let me observe my son's procedures. The dentist's lack of communication was disturbing. My son said that the dentist didn't stop when he complained about the pain. It is standard in this office to restrain children in a "papoose" which is a cute name for a straight jacket. They cancelled one of my son's dental surgery due to computer problems and couldn't reschedule for another month. I will be returning to their previous dentist in Lakewood even though it means commuting from Olympia and no Apple coverage. The pain and suffering my child experienced at this dentist is not worth any amount of money I might save using them. read more

DO NOT TAKE YOUR KIDS HERE! My son had an appointment to get 2 teeth pulled and a spacer put in. We got back into the room and they started giving my son laughing gas and then immediately started working. They didn't wait until he was numb and my son was crying in pain and the dentist was glaring at me while my son was crying...like he wanted me to shut my kid up. He wanted us to make a separate appointment to get the spacer put in because my son was "too worked up". They said I wouldn't be able to go back in the room with him during the procedure.
