I want to share an experience from my daughter's Sweet 16 this week because one local Americus business truly saved the day. I ordered a custom cake weeks in advance and drove nearly an hour to pick it up the day of her party. When I arrived, the cake was already cracked. I waited while it was repaired, but after driving home I discovered it was actually in worse condition than when I left. With a Sweet 16 party happening that evening, there was no time to go back and start over. Thankfully another local bakery stepped in at the last minute and repaired the cake so it could still be used for the celebration. They didn't have to do that, but they did -- and I'm incredibly grateful. The original bakery did refund the cake, which I appreciate. However, they declined to reimburse the additional repair cost that was required to salvage the cake in time for the party. When I followed up privately to ask if that portion could be reconsidered, the owner stopped responding to my messages. Milestone birthdays only happen once, and this cake had been ordered weeks in advance. Based on this experience, I would encourage customers to think twice before relying on this business for an important celebration. Huge thanks again to the local bakery that stepped in and helped save my daughter's Sweet 16. ETA: Now that the owner has chimed in, I realize I should have mentioned that the offer to repair the cake was impossible because of the time frame. I scheduled pick up for noon, but didn't arrive home and discover the problem until nearly 2:00. As a single parent, who had a child to pick up from school, and a 6:00 party to host, making another 2 hour round trip drive was impossible. read more

First things first. Small cakes' strawberry cheesecake is hands down the best flavor they offer. What's not to love about a strawberry cake with chunks of cheesecake in the mix and then covered in cream cheese frosting??? There was no question about who was making my wedding cake! The customer service that was offered, the attention to detail, and the fact that my cake looked EXACTLY how I envisioned is the reason why they will always have my business. My boho themed cake was a show stopper and I am very proud and impressed with the baker's talent! On a more casual note, a small cupcake any day of the week is also justified. Thursdays is the best flavor day, but don't take my word for it...try them out ASAP! They have the cutest little shop in town! read more

Love this little small business! They have such moist cupcakes that are delicious and aren't overbearingly sweet. They are kind of pricey, but they are a small business so we completely understood why. They had a variety of flavors to choose from along with seasonal items. Cupcakes are good, sometimes a little too much frosting for me and a little too sweet but that's solely taste preference. Good selection and the cake is usually very moist. Minus 1 star for service, every time I go in there it feels pretty awkward. Those behind the counter seem like they don't want to be there and not very friendly. Friendly service and a moist, flavorful cake are let down by cloyingly sweet frosting that doesn't vary much between flavors. They'd run out of their mini-cupcakes by the time we'd gotten there but maybe those are better balanced? And apparently you get a free cupcake on your birthday, so that's pretty neat. My husband and I recently moved to the area. We are trying all the different bakeries. I love to bake myself so I expect the food I get from a bakery to be great (just like the food I bake :)) I was excited to eat the cupcakes from here especially when I saw the sign that said as seen on food network. I remembered seeing them on cupcake wars (I LOVE that show!) I got four cupcakes and it cost $12 and some change. I am not going to lie I dug into them as soon as I got into my car. I was a little worried though when I took a whiff of the cakes and they did not smell appealing at all. They smelled very artificial. I tried their chocolate cupcake with cream filling. I really wasn't very impressed. The cake part was very moist, which was nice. However the flavor of the cake wasn't great and the icing was awful. They told me their best cupcake was their red velvet so I tried that one later and it was awful. The cake, the icing, the taste, the smell it all was awful. I cannot believe that this cupcake is their best cupcake or their best seller. Last week we tried some cupcakes from The Cakery and it was much better also much cheaper. I really can't believe how smallcakes stays in business with cupcakes that are so awful. They just taste very artificial, very bad.
