I love this S & F. They have a fresh nuts, seeds, and candy bins. Not many locations offer these. And the prices are decent too. I usually get them here or at Sprouts. I usually buy my canned tuna here and bagged spinach. The have the best price on tuna and the freshest spinach. The lines are never too long, they move fast and the employees are all very nice. read more

This is your run of the mill Smart and Final but, for some reason it always takes me forever to check out here. They often will only have one maybe two on a good day registers open meanwhile, the lines are incredibly long and people have full carts. On my last trip my boyfriend and I waited almost 20 minutes in line to buy a bottle of wine. When we got to the front of the line the cashier asked to see our IDs- fine, but my boyfriend does not drive and so he handed the cashier his passport. The cashier then proceeded to ask him if he had a DUI! When my boyfriend responded "no" the cashier then began a lecture about how he should go to the DMV and get a license like a "normal person". We now just try to avoid shopping here as much as we can. read more

The fruit are always bruised or overripe. The tomatoes are in an awful state- and ARE OFTEN MOLDY. I bought a carton of blueberries from here today, and threw away at least a third due to MOLD. It's disgusting. It's unsanitary. And it's lack of quality assurance. read more

This is an A-Ok Smart and final location. It feels like a much older location because of the outside building and the tiny parking lot. They are also located in a small strip mall with some small shops so no, not the easiest place to visit. Its a lot bigger once you go inside. Smart and Final is your Costco Alternative without the membership card and the giant lines. I find myself in here buying bulk qtys of plates, forks, spoons and other party accessories. They come in super handy for buying a lot of bulk restaurant material. Come check it out if you need these things. read more

Nick B the cashier was tossing all my groceries with disregards. Meat and vegetables were mixed all together. I wouldn't mind but he placed the meat facing down so when I got home the meat juices spilled on my other groceries. Nick should quit or get written up for poor work ethics. I went over to smart final Devonshire and Woodley where a young lady/Security Gaurd was greeting customers at door with a smile. It gave me a great feeling to see that. With all that going on she still managed to smile and say hello to the customers. I only went in for one item but end up grabbing more than that, as I was walking to the register to pay. For my items because I could not carry anything else, The security guard noticed that I did not have a basket walked over to me and said let me help you and handed i me that basket with a smile, my only thought was WOW! I don't think ever did that ever happen to me. She went out of her way to help me. I so appreciated Her help and her smile. Mind you I only went for one item .but because of her and that basket I continued shopping I hope she see's this and knows, that she is Appreciated. Didn't have a good experience with the service manager on duty when I told her the item I bought was shorted from the original box. She said she couldn't do anything about unless I wanted a refund. I left with my shorted candy box and told her I'll call Corporate office. read more

I've been going out to stock up on food during these crazy times and every store I've been to has been mayhem- unorganized, cluttered with damaged goods, and full of unhelpful staff. The staff at Smart and Final, however, were great and super informative about restocks. Great neighborhood store, although they don't seem to ever order enough, I usually am finding what I want is "out of stock". the Manager, "Robert" was helpful and had a great attitude in helping me find what I need. They have a VERY rude employee who works there by the name, PATRICE. She is disrespectful and has absolutely horrible customer service. They need to fire her. When I made a complaint about her to the manager, he even told me that wasn't the first time someone complained about her. I did not hesitate to report her to their corporate office. The Cashier guy named Akshay refused to place my goods into my cart. After he rang up my goods he proceeded ringing up the next customer. My whole family watched in disbelief because the guy wouldn't load up our cart. My wife went to the Manager and told him of the problem. He walked over & pulled Akshay aside. The I watched with glee as the Cashier walked out of the store. The Manager proceeded to load up my cart and apologized. I shop at this store a lot. It is a great place to stock up for party supplies, not really for everyday shopping unless you have a big family to feed. Jumbo pack of everything and no membership. Check their weekly ads, because they always have great deals on something you may need. This Smart&Final was remodeled a couple of years ago and now has a large produce section. When it is busy the parking lot is bad, but if you drive around a few times you will find a spot to park. Also they need to react a little faster for back-up cashiers, sometimes it takes a while to checkout. read more

I was just in the Smart and Final Store on 04/23/15 on Devonshire Street in Northridge, CA. I bought $75 dollars of groceries but when I was checking out, something smelled. The cashier Reanah B was to busy talking and not paying attention and said it was broccoli that smelled. When I got to the car, my bags smelled, and when I got home my car smelled and all of my food smelled. I found out it was a can of cat food I bought that was damaged and leaking. I immediately called the manager, Matt Meser to complain and his only comment was drive back and I will reimburse you for the one can of cat food. I am suppose to drive back and spend 2 gallons of gas to get $.99 back. I had to get my car washed, I had to throw out my green bags, I had to wipe all my food down and had to take the wheat tins and other products out of their containers as these boxes and containers all had this ugly smell. I would never shop at Smart and Final again as I have been a long time customer. The Cashier and Manager should be fired. This is what I get for being a loyal customer. read more

I bought one without knowing and drank into it and felt weird as hell and literally said WTF my throat was on fire and my stomach was burning . I checked the bottle and what do you knowwwww to my surprise it had been expired since march of 2019 are you shitting me?? I went down to the store exchanged it for something else and brought back another item of the SAME (pomegranate juice a package that contains a a lot of the drinks ) that was expired like my original product right to the cashier so he didn't think I was bullshitting . This has to be reported you're going to make people sick since you can't really even see the fucking expiration dates on some of the bottles. Two men got called over to inspect them because my cashier told them it's expired and one of the dudes gave me a nasty look right when I left . I was gonna help them and tell them where the date is but after that I was like FUCK IT LET THEM FEND FOR THEMSELVES . It wasn't on the packaging but printed right on the bottles themselves but of course it was pomegranate drinks dark as shit so they werent going to see it clearly (visibly) the whole experience was uncomfortable as hell because I couldn't even expresss what I wanted too say without being stared at weird or getting cut off by the cashier. I've been shopping here for years but it seems like lately it's gone downhill. The produce cart is always in the produce aisle and you have to move the cart to get certain items. The aisles always seem to have ladders and carts of product sitting in the middle of them. I counted four pallets of product sitting in strategic places so that I had to go around or use another aisle to get to what I needed. The frozen food was almost empty and so was the bread aisle. It seems to me that they never have enough bread on hand. This place has turned into an obstacle course. It seems to me that they don't have enough staff to fill the shelves in a timely manner. When we got there we had to hunt down a basket and the parking lot was littered with a lot of paper. I don't write this to be mean, but I would just like to see some of these issues addressed. They advertise in their weekly flyer that the corn is 5 for a $1.00 but when we get to the store, it's 3 for $ .99 cents. And the cashier said that's the Northridge not here. If they put in there flyer all the stores should have the same price. read more

I shop here often. They have a 10 Tim or less express lane but it is never enforced. If I comment about it they act like I'm being unreasonable. So I started going to a different location and it is the same, 2 lanes open and people with 25 items in the express lane. I have 3 items. The checkers don't care. read more

Usual the cash register checks are nice and the stock personnel always as if I need help or have found all I needed. However, there is one woman by the name of Patrice who when doing sonething else, like wiping a station down is very rude. She acts,as if she is bothered by you, doesn't like you, very curt and abrupt. I ask her if she she feeling well and retorts something snide back. This place kinda blows. The cashiers sometimes don't greet, and are busy having conversations with each other while scanning your items. They only sell large sizes, and the super-fancy deluxe version of everything. Also, I pulled up one day and one of the employees was sitting on top of a palette of water, with his a$$ touching the bottles! Unthinkable. I'd recommend Food4Less in North Hills, but they suck too.
