The last Tango Mango of 2024

Smart & Final has been around for over 100 years. The Smart & Final in San Francisco in the Inner Richmond District offers lots of food and drinks. Inside the Smart & Final it feels like if you stepped into a mini- Food4 Less /Ross, and Grocery Outlet. Aisles of drinks , food, and supplies. They do have a descent sized produce section. They also have discounted items throughout the store. They do also have a surprising liquor selection. Grab some food and drink from the Smart & Final San Francisco store Make the Smart & Final decision because 2024 is almost out the door

I like Smart & Final as an option for shopping, and can deal with their number of limited cashiers, but they lacked produce bags. Not having bags to put produce in is not a new occurrence, and I wish it would be rectified

Went in for these, bought (2)- they're $15 EACH

Fresh and well-displayed produce, good selection of everyday groceries in a clean and well-organized space but not as competitive on price as I expected. Dozen Eggland large cage-free eggs $5.19 Boneless skinless chicken breasts $3.87/lb (discounted from $4.49/lb) Tangerines 2# $3.99 Etc etc. Prices were about the same as Lucky and Safeway and products the same caliber in quality and selection. I was brought into Smart & Final because it was the one store I found online that had whole frozen turkey breasts (not easy to find off-season). They were $15 each, pricey at $5/lb. But, they can be pressure cooked quickly for a delicious and healthy protein-packed meal. Verdict: Good overall but prices as high as any other retail grocery store.

I usually come in knowing exactly what I want from this store. It's more efficient and I get in/out quickly. I don't really get their ads, but sometimes I would happen to be here when they have their sales, and oh, wow, great prices. Appreciate their new check out system calling out which registers one should go to. I wasn't thrilled about shopping here months ago, but lately it's gotten a lot better.

Love going to my local grocery store when it's usually not busy so I come in late a little. I've been on a no carb diet for the past 2 months so I only usually eat Cesar salad with croutons, or fruits and vegetables and sometimes salmon when I can

AVOID THIS LOCATION! The cashiers are unhappy, rude and could care less about the customers. I bought ONE packet of lunch meat, but they charged me TWICE for the SAME product! I understand inflation prices are impacting everyone, but scamming customers for more money is unacceptable and unethical. To all patrons, please choose another location or different business to shop. DO NOT WASTE YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY HERE!

Super lazy staff. There's an Asian guy at checkout that won't even take items out of a handheld basket on the conveyor belt.

In one incident over a year ago, another customer verbally harassed me and threatened physical harm while I was shopping. Her child was left unattended and was knocking items over, which I reported to security. The guard failed to do his job and did not intervene appropriately. When a supervisor arrived, the situation was handled much more professionally. I should feel safe shopping in my local market. That guard no longer works there, but the experience was upsetting and difficult to move past. Unfortunately, in January 2026, I encountered similar issues with a new security guard. He has repeatedly followed me around the store without cause. Most recently, he approached me unnecessarily, stood uncomfortably close, and spoke to me in an intrusive manner while I was selecting items. His behavior showed poor training and a lack of respect for personal boundaries. These repeated experiences with security staff are negatively affecting the atmosphere at Woodlands. I am a respectful, regular customer and do not want to feel uncomfortable or monitored without cause when shopping. Proper security training and professionalism are essential for customer safety and trust.

In fact, you can snag some good deals on produce and cheese here if you're willing to try something new. Speaking of produce, it's always beautiful here. I don't think I've ever seen an unappetizing leaf, fruit, or vegetable. I discovered this place after parking in front of it for the nearby library branch on the same day I listened to KEXP for the first time. I was prepping for an upcoming weekend excursion, and while I usually buy my groceries in the South Bay, closer to where I'm headed, I decided to change things up and get (mostly) everything in one fell swoop. I believe I got a prepackaged side dish that was delicious. And some fruits and carrots for the road ahead and the weekend beyond. I've returned a couple of times, and the people who work here have always been kind and helpful. It's a busy little place. Spend even a few minutes here, and you'll hear neighborhood acquaintances having friendly conversations about whatever. I got some really good cheese the last time I was here, after returning a book to the library. Are you sensing a theme?

I have not visited Cortland Avenue for a number of years save an Elite event at United Dumplings during Covid. Coming on a Sunday morning, I saw a steady flow of people going in and out of this market with small bags. Great that this place has modernized substantially with the attractive counters for the take and go, deli, and meat sections.
