I absolutely love Trader Joe's no matter where I am in the United States, so I was beyond thrilled when we got to our hotel in San Francisco and realized there was one just a block away! We were in San Francisco for about a week, and having a Trader Joe's so close was a total lifesaver. We could easily stop in and grab breakfast foods, snacks, and, of course, our favorite peanut butter cups. It saved us from having to spend a ton of money eating out for breakfast every morning, and we were able to stock up on snacks that lasted us for the entire trip. This Trader Joe's was definitely a different experience than the one we're used to back home in the St. Louis suburbs. Since it was right in the city, you actually had to take an escalator down to get into the store, which was kind of fun and unexpected. I also felt like there was surprisingly more room in the aisles than I expected for a city location. The checkout line was a completely different story! It wrapped around the store, which honestly gave me a little anxiety because I felt like I needed to hurry and get everything because the line looked like it was going to take forever. But they had a ton of checkers working, and the line actually moved incredibly fast. Before I knew it, we were checked out and on our way. It was just really nice to be somewhere familiar while experiencing a totally different version of Trader Joe's in another city. Having one so close to our hotel made our trip easier, more affordable, and a little more fun. And yes, we absolutely stocked up on those peanut butter cups! read more

This TJ's is conveniently located in downtown and has the most interesting people in there, including workers who enjoy their jobs so much, they're singing with the 80s music piping through the speakers. I like getting my sweet and savory snacks here, as they're comparably less cost with less unwanted ingredients than other places. Lines can get long here but it moves pretty quickly. read more

Every TJ item you can think of, and probably also have not seen before, is most likely to appear here. The variety is again insane! You have your fresh Veggies, fruits, ready meals, frozens, meats, and much more. I was here mostly for their ready meals while visiting the city, but man, if I had a kitchen, I'd be pulling out a shopping cart. Lines are pretty long here, with average about 20-25 people ahead of you. But there's at least ten registers open, so you'll be out in no time. Well they only carry a few limited products not too many choices. Quality is fine, but at times we need to double check the produce items. When ever a product suddenly goes off the shelf, you are guaranteed thay it will come back in a new package (usually less in quantity) and the price will be drastically increased. They have doen that many times before and as a tip I would say currently the Indian lentil (ready made) products have been taken off the shelf. The is probably the biggest TJ's I went in downtown SF. I love the variety, huge selection and there are few seasonal fall and Chrtnas items. Be aware of the Best By dates when purchasing seasonal items. A lot of tote bags, but the canvas tote bags are all sold out. Next roll out is on April 2026. This is quite a large TJs! I had a long layover in SFO and decided to head into the city to have lunch. Lo and behold, there is a Trader Joe's right in the area bart stops at on the way to the ferry building. I got there right as they opened and there was a long line to get in. Everyone crowded the door and we shuffled in and down the escalator. This TJs felt a little different maybe because it was in the basement, or maybe because the aisles seemed closer together or more things were packed together. I'd say the customer experience her while walking around the store isn't as nice as some other Trader Joe's I've been to. At checkout there is a long winding set up for lines and the check outs kind of remind me of Walmarts set up. But they offer the same TJs products and I love trying new products and restocking my pantry with TJs snacks. I filled one half of a duffle bag with pantry items and snacks on my way to Asia, so this is kind of a big deal. Haha. I could have used that room for Asian snacks to bring home... read more

Big fan of this Trader Joe's! You enter on the top floor and take the escalators down a floor to the actual store. It's surprisingly small and big at the same time. It's conveniently located right off BART in Union Square so it's very accessible. The line can get long but it moves quickly. Despite how busy it gets, I've never encountered an issue on things being so out of stock that the items I need are not available. The staff seems to be pretty regularly restocking. There aren't really any other grocery stores in this area. The location is so convenient, I am regularly coming back. read more

This TJ's located downstairs and long ago this building used to be part of the Old Navy flagship store, but like everything in SF, that is either relocated or gone. This was my first time ever at this particular Trader Joe's, and it was very interesting how it was set up! As soon as you walk in, there's a security guard and then you are let down the escalators to the actual grocery store. The set up reminds me of the Trader Joe's in Stone town Galleria/The outskirts of San Francisco. Everything was very clean and organized and they were helpful employees around. I was actually looking for the restroom and I wanted to buy some drinks and a snack so I was able to get everything I needed, but since they had at least eight people checking/on the registers! I was very impressed with how clean the store was and how organized everything was! Plus, the store in San Francisco was a couple dollars cheaper than the one I usually go to down in Silicon Valley. These taste very vinegary. These aren't fresh at all. I can tell that they weren't refrigerated for the delivery then put out in the refrigerated area. I saw your employees continue to pack over other items and never checking. They are obviously never trained. The employees who are supposed to be stocking items were on their phone on the floor, extremely unprofessional and more likely why the watermelon is spoiled tasting. I love, love, LOVE Trader Joe's! For this location, you have to know which times are their busiest, as it is not uncommon to try to drop by and grab a couple of items for dinner after work, only to find that the checkout line is wrapped around a few aisles, not including the mini-aisles that the line is usually formed in! Baggers/Check-Out Clerks are awesome and super friendly and I always have great convos with a good many of them. Super chill vibe. They do run out of products at times because it is such a busy and heavily visited store. read more

Very spacious UNDERGROUND location - that's right, underground! Enter off the street and take the escalator down (they also have an elevator). There is security but when I first entered there was a homeless guy in at the entrance in a wheelchair I almost thought I was in the wrong place till I went down the escalator. The store setup is different than the other one I went to I'm new to Trader joes I just stared shopping here because I heard they take food stamps. I love there frozen meals and snacks there good. The store was being stocked who's is nice to see there was employees actively cleaning and put things in the right place I loves to see it. I went to try a lot of thing including the pumpkin spice syrup but it had alcohol in it I wish there was one without it because I want to try it in my coffee. Bought a Trader Joe's Platinum Reserve Cab. $17.99 I thought it had a bad vibe but the con artist in my head told me " hey it's Oakville Napa ...come on get it ... how bad can it be ?" I usually don't write reviews for grocery stores but I should! Trader Joe's is always awesome. Their employees are always so friendly and open to helping customers looking for stuff. Their cashiers always greet and ask how you're doing + offer to bag your stuff if you have your own bag. They have great selections and always well stocked from salads, frozen Indian food, deli meats, dumplings, frozen fruits and vegetables, fresh produce, kombucha, teas, coffees, etc. I love that they carry Trader Joe's exclusive products so you can't get them anywhere else. They're constantly coming out with new products too so there's always stuff to try out! I'm only writing this review today to speak up about an unpleasant experience my co workers had today at this location. The cashier on register 5, name D. Michael (on the receipt) was being very rude to my co workers. They shared a cart because they didn't plan to buy too many things but you always end up buying too much at Trader Joe's lol. Anyway, they got to register 5 and mentioned that they're going to do 2 separate transactions. They were getting stuff out and the box of cherry tomatoes opened up so they had a hard time. I guess Michael got annoyed and gave attitude to them and said they should've got their own separate carts. He didn't even offer to buy their stuff for them and we had to bag it at the table at the end of the registers. I spoke up about this matter to their customer service desk and a very sweet lady helped us. I believe her name was Tanya? I do apologize if I don't have the correct name as it just happened quickly. I had mentioned the experience and she seemed like she was not surprised so I'm sure the cashier has been complained about before. My co workers also told me they have had bad experiences with him before also but left it. I told her I didn't t want to make it a big deal but just wanted to inform her. She said "no, it is a big deal and I'm sorry for the unpleasant experience." That was such a professional response. She offered us 2 bouquet of flowers to make up for it! All prices across these stores have increased tremendously, not any more the affordable and good quality TJ's we used to know. What happened to JUMBO eggs? they look the same as regular ones and way more expensive, maybe JUMBO hens went on strike or they're anemic? And BTW improve quality assurance on english muffins, there are little pits inside the dough that can hurt people's mouth and stomach. Not a good fish stock and extremely expensive.
