Great Trader Joe's. You go down the escalator and upon entering, you see their cases of water and flowers. They have everything you need and everything you expect from Trader Joe's. They have plenty of fresh food and meat, as well as fun snacks. Do you expect there to be a line when you check out, but it does go by pretty quickly.

The is probably the biggest TJ's I went in downtown SF. I love the variety, huge selection and there are few seasonal fall and Chrtnas items. Be aware of the Best By dates when purchasing seasonal items. A lot of tote bags, but the canvas tote bags are all sold out. Next roll out is on April 2026. I will be back if I ever I am at Downtown SF.

Big fan of this Trader Joe's! You enter on the top floor and take the escalators down a floor to the actual store. It's surprisingly small and big at the same time. It's conveniently located right off BART in Union Square so it's very accessible. The line can get long but it moves quickly. Despite how busy it gets, I've never encountered an issue on things being so out of stock that the items I need are not available. The staff seems to be pretty regularly restocking. There aren't really any other grocery stores in this area. The location is so convenient, I am regularly coming back.

The staff at the front customer service booth and manager are so so nice! I went to ask about a new item that might have arrived day of and he went to check the back for the shipment and they found and opened the shipment in just a few minutes early in the morning. Thank you all so much! Super nice employees, clean and spacious store, great layout.

Better prices here than in Silicon Valley!

This was my first time ever at this particular Trader Joe's, and it was very interesting how it was set up! As soon as you walk in, there's a security guard and then you are let down the escalators to the actual grocery store. The set up reminds me of the Trader Joe's in Stone town Galleria/The outskirts of San Francisco. Everything was very clean and organized and they were helpful employees around. I was actually looking for the restroom and I wanted to buy some drinks and a snack so I was able to get everything I needed, but since they had at least eight people checking/on the registers! I was very impressed with how clean the store was and how organized everything was! Plus, the store in San Francisco was a couple dollars cheaper than the one I usually go to down in Silicon Valley. Interesting how that works out!

These taste very vinegary. These aren't fresh at all. I can tell that they weren't refrigerated for the delivery then put out in the refrigerated area. I saw your employees continue to pack over other items and never checking. They are obviously never trained. The employees who are supposed to be stocking items were on their phone on the floor, extremely unprofessional and more likely why the watermelon is spoiled tasting. I previously had a salad that was molded from this store. Date for that was fine but already moldy due to employees refusing to refrigerate produce.

I was surprised this Trader Joe's is bigger than I have imagined being at this busy downtown San Francisco location. They have a variety of drinks and foods. Trader Joe's has grown since the days of $2 Buck Chuck. This Trader Joe's is the best place to go on a liquor run in the downtown area because it beats the corner liquor stores prices. I was a little surprised they were giving free samples inside. This Trader Joe's is stocked with drink and food aisles, with different types of international drink and food styles

Loved their attention to set and great personable workers. They always have something new. I have never been disappointed with the quality of their food.

As someone who doesn't have access to Trader Joes, I'm always enthralled by the selection, the curation of products, and the great service. For the normal Trader Joe aficionado, this place has all the regular stuff. Don't be surprised by the small entrance or escalator. The underground space will quickly put you in mind of the TJ's you know and love. As for visitors like us, we found this was a convenient spot for a quick stop on our comings and goings from our hotel in Union Square. Lots of options. Fresh, frozen, bottled, etc. Plenty of snacks and even a great selection of greeting cards and plants. Yay! Fast and helpful customer service.

Smooth, i can eat the whole pack in one seating, very dangerous

This is the place to get all the things you've been looking for at other TJs. Everything is here. They are well stocked. Lots of yummy goodies. I was trying new things and found some yummy food. Cashiers are super fast. The plant based bulgogi is outstanding. It's so real and flavorful. The chocolate peanut butter is so smooth. I can eat the whole bag. It's too dangerous for me.

    Best place to park?

Depends on the time of day. If you plan on going in the evening, you can park right in front of The Container Store. It's a loading zone, but since the close at 6pm, you're allowed to park there. You can also find parking around Mission & 5th St.…

Actually, I hardly ever go to Safeway anymore. Shelves are always well stocked, store is very clean, and just a pleasant place to shop at. In one incident over a year ago, another customer verbally harassed me and threatened physical harm while I was shopping. Her child was left unattended and was knocking items over, which I reported to security. The guard failed to do his job and did not intervene appropriately. When a supervisor arrived, the situation was handled much more professionally. I should feel safe shopping in my local market. That guard no longer works there, but the experience was upsetting and difficult to move past. Unfortunately, in January 2026, I encountered similar issues with a new security guard. He has repeatedly followed me around the store without cause. Most recently, he approached me unnecessarily, stood uncomfortably close, and spoke to me in an intrusive manner while I was selecting items. His behavior showed poor training and a lack of respect for personal boundaries. These repeated experiences with security staff are negatively affecting the atmosphere at Woodlands. I am a respectful, regular customer and do not want to feel uncomfortable or monitored without cause when shopping. Proper security training and professionalism are essential for customer safety and trust.

I discovered this place after parking in front of it for the nearby library branch on the same day I listened to KEXP for the first time. I was prepping for an upcoming weekend excursion, and while I usually buy my groceries in the South Bay, closer to where I'm headed, I decided to change things up and get (mostly) everything in one fell swoop. I believe I got a prepackaged side dish that was delicious. And some fruits and carrots for the road ahead and the weekend beyond.
