I have a deal where, as long as I use my card as DEBIT 10x/month, they will refund my ATM fees (CB ATMs are always free to me). They even refund them when I use some outrageous fee machine in an airport or casino. I've found them to be responsive, helpful, and thorough with my requests, so I continue to bank with Citizens. I'll never understand why we have so dang many banks, but among the multitude of choices, Citizens Bank is one I'm glad that I made. My only complaint is that they don't release my directly deposited funds as quickly as my credit union does. Sometimes it's a few days later. That bugs me.

'Twas two days after Christmas, My Toyota Corolla was packed down! I was in…read more Jonesborough TN for holiday, quite ready to be heading back to Nashville. But to my dismay as I started up my good ole' 2010, the lights on my dash stayed gleaming some blinking. I frowned at the display! I had to think what to do, even my family here are brand new to town. I have no fine soul to trust or to point the way. So I reluctantly googled the nearest dealership and behold, Johnson City Toyota was a mere 20 minutes away. It was 8:45 am as I called over. A clear, well spoken woman answered the phone and in about 3 min she knew exactly what I needed and also knew to tell me that the service department didn't have an available appointment until 3:30 that day. She sensed my discouragement and told me I could walk in for service and how much time she estimated the wait. She also told me about two other dealerships that weren't crazy far from where I told her I was. I opted to roll the dice and walk in. As I pulled into the parking lot toward the service sign I noticed quite a bit of staff about, busy working, yet very aware of the movements of the vehicles around. I parked and walked into a spotless showroom and the sent of freshly buttered popcorn in the air. How could I stay aggravated about my car when I'm walking through a room that smells of that goodness?! I had four different smiling faces greet me as I strolled over to the service door. Before the door could close behind me John Stevenson looked up from the closest service desk as if he was expecting me, and in no time I felt educated. He asked me the perfect questions to get right to the point, we were quickly on the same page even explaining a couple recalls on my make that could/should be taken care of as well. I vocalized that I absolutely did not want to spend my entire morning at the dealership. Without pressuring or holding back my pass for now card, he broke down what the recall was giving me back and it's safety benefits...I was smiling again as we headed out to pull my car into the service building. Why? Because weather it was true or not I felt like Mr Stevenson wanted to take proper care of not only my car but me too through making sure everything is standard safe. AND Chivalry isn't dead folks! He opened the doors politely along the way. Once I had my work order signed I was shown the coffee area, score! Starbucks! That was obviously calling my name. He pointed out the different seating areas & restrooms. Said to help myself to the popcorn. Even took that second to show me where I could plug my phone in and the wifi password. Perfect I thought! At least I could get some work done while I wait! Then I remembered, my lap top is in the trunk and it's already checked in. Ugh! I really thought it would be a problem but nope, we walked back out there and another young man showed me the way to my car out back, he too opened the doors and patiently waited as I searched my heavily packed car for all the things I thought I'd need for the next few hours! He didn't rush me or stair like some folks do. He carried my bag back to the lounge area where my wait began. Nearly four hours long folks! BUT I had popcorn, caffeine, and free wifi; making it so I could work efficiently at a desk. The place ran around me all morning, every man and woman was treated same as I. I actually watched as an employee, seeing an elderly man with a cane, kinda hunched, limbs a bit twisted, snail walking around, assert her self into his path. She helped him find a place to sit. Got him comfortable, then made him the cup of coffee he was after. I'm surprised y'all. Seriously! I had zero plans of having to get my car fixed, even less plans of needing to spend extra money! My travel day got turned upside down, adding four hours in commute time! Yet some how, the team work Johnson City Toyota perfectly played out, it softened all the edges of the unexpected. I was checked on a couple times, kept up on what stage of the game my car was at. I was offered a shuttle so I could go grab lunch or whatever and even though I passed on it it did make me feel less high jacked! Nice to have options! Check out went just as smooth, I was thoroughly informed of everything they fixed and checked. It was lighthearted and extremely professional. To my utter amazement the bill was a fourth less than I'd anticipated. What?! I know right! That's never happened to me in all my 33 years! I left that place like legit taken care of. It wasn't "stuck to me" They didn't insult my intelligence or try to up sale nonsense. This is the first time I've ever left a place that sold or serviced cars that I was kinda happy I ended up there. Maybe its left over holiday spirit or just maybe a business is doing it right?! From what I saw today on my extended pit stop, those people like their jobs and where they work. They either have appreciation and personal pride in it or Grammys need to be handed out all over that dealership!

When I brought it up to the salesman, he just said that they have to make money somewhere. They also took the key to my car and didn't return them until I said the trade it was ridiculous. I then had to ask to get my keys back. I think this is some sort of a scare tactic to push people to buy (note that they didn't even go to my car, so no clue why the keys were even needed). On top of that, I continued getting promo emails even after I told them I didn't want to be in communication with them. When I want to buy a Toyota, I will definitely go elsewhere.
