I had a bad experience at this dealership. I came to inquire about a Prius. The sales person was pretty humble and nice, but the manager gave me a low ball offer on my 1.5 year old car, over $12K less that what I purchased it for. When I brought it up to the salesman, he just said that they have to make money somewhere. They also took the key to my car and didn't return them until I said the trade it was ridiculous. I then had to ask to get my keys back. I think this is some sort of a scare tactic to push people to buy (note that they didn't even go to my car, so no clue why the keys were even needed). We got a car from here so we can drive across the country & it's been a headache, the car has a recall, they didn't disclose that to us, the car shuts off randomly and its been almost 3 months & they haven't given us our plates. we're currently driving on expired temp tags & it's been a headache dealing with them. I had a very disappointing experience trying to buy a vehicle here. There was little to no explanation given throughout the process, and questions about pricing, fees, and next steps were brushed off rather than answered. It felt like I was expected to just accept everything without any transparency. There was also zero room for negotiation, which might be fine if it were communicated clearly and professionally but it wasn't. This place is wild. After witnessing a devastating blizzard in east tennessee, we drove up from knoxville to buy a used truck on their lot. The deal was done, before we even left. That didnt stop them from hoodwinking $9000+ in unwanted warranties on the vehicle without disclosure seeing that it fit into the monthly payments we were willing to pay. It took 3 months to get these warranties removed, you can on expect this kind of shit from a shit manufacturer. I brought my daughter's car in for service today in order to see what my daughter experiences when she comes in. The 1st thing when I got out of my car was a lady came up and opened the hood on the car, why would you do that, then said someone will be by soon to talk with you, which took a little bit even though I was the only car in the area. A service advisor finally came up and started the process of checking me in. During this process, it seemed to me that he was trying to up sale me instead of focusing on just what I wanted. The advisor also asked me if I had an extended warranty and I thought what does it matter since this was a basic oil change and tire rotation. This dealership uses the extended warranty to try to upsell with the threat of if you don't do what the dealership recommends, then your warranty could be voided, which is totally false. After getting the inspection form back, which I had to ask for, I noticed that the spare tire had not been checked. The spare tire is just as important as the other tires and I made it a point to clear everything out of the back so that there could be no excuses as to why the tire was not checked, but I guess this dealership accepts sub par work. My daughter has told me the same thing, hence the reason I brought her car in this time. I live in another town and own 2 4Runners, one a 2007 with 315,00 miles on it, so I think I know something about getting vehicles serviced. I go to the local dealership there and realize how much better I have it the what I received in just this one time from Johnson City Toyota. If I could give these people and dealership no stars, I would. Whatever you do, avoid them at all costs. Their first transgression was keeping our vehicle for three months and not repairing it under engine Warranty repair. We agreed on a purchase amount from them for $43,050 with Gareth Rawlins, the alleged service department manager. We submitted all the paperwork and then they never mailed us a check until we hounded them and threatened to report our vehicle stolen. We finally received the check and they cheated us out of $2050. Sales associates are friendly and welcome inspection and honest feedback, but the dealership wanted over $3000 for a 2008 subcompact with rotted window seals and a Check Engine light. Bought a used car there, everything seemed ok. Took it in for a promised paint touch up. No one there, no lights on at 8:30 a.m., found an employee left the car and my key. No one ever called that it was ready for me to pick up. When I called at 5 pm no one could tell me anything, kept getting transferred. At 6 pm a girl told me the manager would call me back. Didn't happen. Finally picked it up the next morning. The work had been done. Why could they not call me to say it was ready?? Very poor service. read more

Arrived 5 til 4, pulled my truck in to one of two COMPLETELY EMPTY BAYS. Several young folks doing nothing, paid absolutely no attention to my arrival. They were content to cell phone play or yuk it up with their buds. One guy was simply walking around. He was "busy". There were no other customers waiting. There was no manager, greeter, or customer direction available. I got out, looked around, walked around my truck, made eye contact with a few "workers"- waited about a total of 5 minutes from arrival--still no acknowledgement of my presence. No "hello", "whazzup bro", nada. Backed out of the "service" bay and left. They still owe me some oil changes that I purchased when I bought my truck. I cant do them owing stars, so by default it is one. Toyota of Johnson City is the last place I would take anything. My wife and I purchased a brand new 2025 TRD pro Sequoia. After about a month of having it home, the gauge cluster bezel was sagging around 5/8". She calls the service department to set an appointment up and it was about a week out. She explained that we have 3 children and have to be able to accommodate them and any errands we may need to do since nobody had any idea how long this would take. She shows up on the appointment date and immediately is told they don't have any vehicles (imagine that, a CAR dealer without ANY CARS. I know, the irony and stupidity is both impressive and disappointing). She is there explaining that wasn't the conversation that was had, they assured her there would be accommodations made and they tried everything to backtrack on it. Even to the point of offering her their parts car that had a cage in it behind the front seats. She deals with this for 3 hours before somehow magically someone finds a car (you guessed it, a car, on the car lot). They keep the car for several days and then we receive a phone call stating that they have solved the problem. The problem was in fact not solved, as a matter of fact, it was worse. The improper fit was still there coupled with two spots where some genius decided a flat head screwdriver was the proper tool to pry on trim. Their mechanics are so good that they looked at me like an idiot when I mentioned a trim removal tool. We schedule yet another appointment a few days later in the hopes they can get their lives together and fix this problem. We show up the second time, and again after explaining we needed a vehicle, they tell us they don't have one. (still were in business somehow without vehicles to sell). They call Enterprise to bring a vehicle and it shows up and it is an Audi. A small one. I'm slightly above average height and with me sitting in the car, the car seat wouldn't fit properly or safely behind the seat because the back of the front seat was inches from the back. They tried making us pay for the rental which was absolute insanity and exactly how it isn't supposed to work when you purchase a brand new very expensive vehicle with less than 1500 miles on it. After that fiasco, I call Enterprise myself and ask if they had any SUVs because Toyota told me that they didn't and the manager said he had about dozen or so. So, they lied. The reason that we didn't get it was because Toyota didn't want to increase their rental cost more than $40-$50 which wouldn't cover and SUV. Enterprise told me that if they would increase it, they'd give us one. So, I walk to the service desk, explain that, and the manager picks up her phone and is talking to who I assumed was Enterprise and told me they solved the problem and that Enterprise was on the way to collect the Audi and drop off the SUV for us. So we walk back to the car, waiting with a very irritated toddler mind you for another hour before nobody ever shows up. Enterprise is 1.1 mile from them, it should have been minutes. I call Enterprise and they tell me they never heard from Toyota and sent me the information stating their approved expense" with a timestamp after the phone call and it was never changed. At this point I don't have any choice to get irate because apparently that is the only way they will listen to you and do what they are obligated to do. Slinging doors into walls and cussing everybody does the trick here, that would be my suggestion. Once that occurred, they again magically found a CAR on a CAR LOT that they didn't have. Can you believe it? After being there for upwards of 5 hours, we finally leave, of course we have to go to enterprise to take the car back and no sooner than we do that, these idiots didn't put a tag on the car. So we have to go back by for a tag. The next day, my phone is blowing up with texts and calls because these absolute intellectual titans didn't log it in their book and conveniently enough, its audit day! Somehow that was my problem to resolve, not the business full of incompetent idiots. Fast forward over a week, the car is "done". They assure us their "master mechanic" was the one who did the work. You guessed it, just as it arrived, sagging, with new scratches around the radio. You know, because the radio and the instrument cluster are one in the same. So we finally just took it to Cumberland Toyota when I purchased my truck. I wasn't even halfway done signing the paperwork and they had figured out the problem, ordered parts, lined up a loaner, and set a date. read more

After going there for a "free" oil change that was included in vehicle purchase, i was refused because it had not been 10,000 miles yet . Stay away from any place that does 10,000 oil changes. They tried to upsell me everything but wouldn't change the oil . I told them ill just pay someone else to do it and i will never buy another vehicle from them in the future. I have been going to Toyota of Johnson City since I moved to the area in 2020. I drive an older Camry that I plan to keep driving until it dies. When I go, I get good advice from the service techs on how to keep it going. We discuss which services are must haves for the time and which can be delayed a bit to keep from being hit too hard at once financially. They understand my needs and cater the maintenance plan to optimize the life of my car without sending me to the poor house. I appreciate the honest and well thought out guidance they provide. Usually I work with Taylor Russel, but honestly, all of the techs there are great. She just happens to be my favorite. As a woman driver, I feel like she never tries to take advantage of me by selling me something I don't need. Overall, I would recommend them to anyone whether you drive a Toyota or some other brand. July 29 2023, I dropped off my Tacoma for an oil change & a patch on my right front tire. They called to inform me that the leak was in the sidewall & would not hold a patch. They recommended replacing all four tires. I ask them to only replace two. They had to order the OEM tires & would have it for me on Monday July 31. I picked up the truck & got it home where it sat until Saturday August 5 (today). While driving to breakfast with my wife, I casually scrolled to the tire pressure readings. To my surprise the right rear tire had only 10psi! I instantly knew what happened- they had rotated my tires during the oil change. And when the new tires arrived, they put the two new ones on the front! My problem tire was now on the rear without my requesting the rotation. I really hate to complain, but I feel like this was preventable. Now I am forced to buy two more tires! And I will. But not from these guys! read more

Less than 2 weeks out, I go in to Johnson city toyota and I'm told I need new filters because mine are dirty.This happened 3 different times!Explain to me how this aligns with your company's mission statement? Watch out for unnecessary services when JC Toyota service reps "upsale" unnecessary items for increased commission. Three months ago, the JC Toyota rep told me I needed new tires. I went across the street to Tire Barn, where they ETHICALLY told me I didn't need new tires. Today the Toyota service rep told me I needed new tires. I went across the street to get them at Tire Barn, and they ETHICALLY told me I don't need new tires for another 10,000 to 15,000 miles. I called the Toyota Service Manager to tell him how bad this looks for JC Toyota Service, and he completely dismissed my concern. Sigh. Just be very careful. I go there because I think the mechanics know what they're doing with Toyotas but I may have to move on if the reps are going to continue to make these poor recommendations. read more

I bought a 2015 Chevy Trax from the company and was assured that the car was in good shape. We took it for a test drive and noticed the passenger air bag wasn't on with someone in the seat. They said they would fix it (and did) so I bought it anyway. Two months later, I smelled a burning smell in the car and took it to a mechanic. He said there were 3 oil leaks and the oil looked like sludge. I've had the car for 7 months now and it broke down with smoke billowing out of the hood. I took my Lexus 350 for oil change and tire rotation, but I also had a pise I didn't know so I asked them to check out. First, Service Consultant, Brittany Davis was a dream to talk to. She was kind, and went above and beyond what I asked of her. Turned out the water pump was bad, so she had the warranty plan paperwork all ready to go. She also took my free oil change off. And they didn't have to rotated the tires. Brittany called me (my daughter picked me up) and said the parts they needed to have to fix the water pump (leaks developed so needed a few gaskets) would'nt be there until next day. She sent shuttle to pick me up and when I got there she'd already requested a loaner for me! Everything covered under warranty except for $100 deductible. Brittany walked me through everything they'd done and the cost! I loved the care and service I received from JC Toyota!! Great experience! read more

Terrible experience. TLDR: Typical stereotypical sleazy car salesmen. They had a car on cargurus.com posted at a lower price than I found elsewhere. I called and was told that it was in great shape. I live 2 hours away and said I was coming to see it. I confirmed again right before I left the house. I get there and the car they had was listed at $3000 more than the one I asked about and a year older. Supposedly it was a mistake and the other "sold yesterday..." I firmly believe this was a bait and switch. They tried to offer me the other car for $1000 less than sticker price, (still $2000 more than the one I called about and drove 2 hours to see.) They then walked away while my wife and I talked privately. The salesman then comes back and offers me the car for the price that my wife said to me. They were listening in.
