Same experience as some of the other posts. I sent them a GUCCI belt for repair...was told it was ready, and they sent me a picture of it. It looked great, so I paid them the $130. They never sent me my belt. I called many times, and nobody returned my calls....I've texted many times and nobody returned my texts. They stole my belt and my money....horrible! read more

my generator wasn't working and I called the day before the storm was approaching. Tom came to my house and worked for an hour on my generator but unfortunately it needed a new carburetor. He even took the time to go back to his shop and try and find a carburetor that would fit. Fortunately, the storm did not hit us in the Boynton Beach area and I didn't need the generator anyway, but he repaired it , put in a new carburetor and delivered it to my home and it runs like a charm. Do not use this place. Their customer service is horrible and they are rude. I sent them my LV crossbody last March to repair a broken strap. They still have it a year later. They originally sent it back to me and they had cut off so much of the strap that it looks ridiculous and it is unusable. They claim my friend authorized them to do whatever they needed to fix it and told me they only cut off about 2 inches of damage. They offered to replace the strap free of charge but they cannot find another strap in over a year. They are often off work for long periods of time and very rude. They refused to make things right and quit communicating with me. After posting this negative review, Tom called me upset and double downed. Now they claim they only cut off 3/4 of an inch. They also insuated i may have doctored the picture as some part of a scam. I am not accusing them of "taking" part of my strap for themselves, I am livid that they won't do the right thing. It was the most bizarre customer service I have ever received. They said they would publish my name and my friend's name... go for it! They are now refusing to ship my purse unless back unless I send them a prepaid box. I have never posted a review on a website about anyone in my entire life. This is by far the worst place ever. Tom is by far the rudest man of 2021/22 so far. He wins the race. I brought in 2 rattan chairs to be restored. He gave me a price of $100 per chair and additional charge for glides to be put on the bottoms. I only came in for the frames. In the course of conversation he said he could do seat cushions for us. I thought about the seat cushions and decided to check with an upholsterer that my friend is working with He got so pissed that I wanted to use someone else (who I was planning on going to in the first place). I contacted the owner Tom V. to get an estimate on removing four water marks out of our Bassett 90" Harvest Maple Table. He assured us that he could get the water marks out and he picked up the table on 3/1/2022 and returned it on 3/8/2022. I paid him $1,070.00 for the repair. One week later my wife and I noticed spider cracks throughout the top of the table and the base. He stated that he would come out and make it right. He picked the table up and stated he was going to contact Bassett to seek advice. After months had gone by with me calling, he stated that he was going to have to sand it down to the bare wood and refinish it. This total process took close to six months with Tom assuring us that he was going to make the table right. According to other furniture refinishers the process should have taken no more than two weeks. I finally had to talk with an attorney to get advice on how to get my table returned. I was advised to state in writing a demand for return of property in two weeks. Upon texting Tom that I had spoken to an attorney, he became very belligerent, rude and using profanity towards me stating that he would give my f-ing $1,700.00 back and not to threaten him. Since this occurrence, I have read that he was very hostile toward another customer with some patio chairs. There are other customers that have voiced similar complaints toward Tom. Same abusive and rude manner he displayed with me. I assured him that all I wanted was my table back in a professional manner, refinished and repaired correctly. That was the last I heard from him. He left for his Greek vacation for several weeks. I finally got a response from his office that Tom had contacted a moving company to return the table on September 3, 2022. He did not have the courage or decency to return it himself because he knew the lack of professionalism and poor workmanship of the table he was returning. You should see the unprofessional way my table was returned after this extended time period. The poor quality of workmanship is an understatement. There are stain runs down the sides, sanding marks all throughout the top, brush marks, etc. The top is ruined, and the base still has spider cracks on it where he put too many clear coats. I have had several furniture refinishers give me estimates on redoing the table, but none will guarantee the damage can be corrected. To replace the table from Bassett at their sale price is $4,663.03. If Tom was an honest businessman and took pride in his company, he would have admitted his mistake and returned my payment like he promised when he lost his temper with me. I know some of the reviews are satisfactory, but I would highly recommend not using his business. Read all the reviews and then make your decision. According to our attorney, our only recourse is to seek reimbursement for damages in court. We have notified the BBB and a local tv station. I hope none of you have to go through this experience especially if you are senior citizens like we are. Tom definitely took advantage of us, and it will cost us even more to replace his poor workmanship. We are in the Stuart area, but he also has shops in Boca and Orlando. read more

What a great find-- the repairs we brought in included spoons that went down the garbage disposal, a porcelain and silver jar that needed the rim reattached to the porcelain, and a tall, heavy bronze sculpture mounted in a stone base stone that had become wobbly and unsafe. Tom is extremely efficient and his skillset is vast. He came up with easy repairs around my house, hung all of our heavy mirrors and artwork with precision, and repaired our frameless shower doors. Each and every item on our to-do list was accomplished...and, then some! Sometimes you get lucky! We did when we called Smart Choice for two favorite chairs in need of repair--one an older expensive chair requiring major internal surgery. I have never posted a review like this before but I think people need to hear this. Do Not Deal With This Owner Tom!! He screams and yells and has a horrible temper. I called Smart Choice to have my outdoor furniture refinished. Tom said he would sand blast old paint off down to the metal finish and refinish it with outdoor UV paint. He asked what color I wanted and I agreed on black. He said the different finishes that were available were matt, satin, and gloss. He advised against the gloss and I agreed. He suggested the matt. I told him I wanted a little bit of gloss so I would take the satin. He wasn't happy with my choice. After our conversation I called my wife to immediately relay that the color was black and the finish was satin to make sure we were on the same page. When he came to pick up the furniture he left me a proposal that I signed. I didn't read it carefully as I later found the color was on it but the finish was not. We also agreed to have Tom weld a few chairs that were coming apart. When Tom delivered the table and chairs we were unhappy. The old paint was not sand blasted off completely and the finish was glossy. The old paint underneath made the new paint look all bumpy and the gloss finish showed every imperfection. He did a terrible job. i told him because the paint was not entirely sandblasted of, the new paint is going to peel off. He made all excuses about the poor sandblasting but you could see he only sandblasted the easy to get to areas not the crevices. Above all we did not agree on a gloss finish. He disagreed and said I wanted it glossy. That was a lie he told because I caught his mistake. I told him wanted satin. The finish was not on the proposal. I don't know if he forgot what I wanted or just made his own decision because he had gloss paint left over in his shop. He started to get his temper up and become nasty so I just wanted to get him out of my house. I didn't know if he would become violent. I called him the next day to continue the conversation on the phone and he went crazy. He was nasty and he screamed at me non stop. His temper was unbelievable. I didn't get to say too much as he just kept screaming. In the end he said he would stop by to take a look and hung up. Needless to say he never came. One day I sat down on a chair and noticed the weld he made was broken again. He charged me extra to weld three chairs. After it broke again, I looked at it closely and don't think it is a weld at all. It looks like he used some kind of epoxy. I called him about the chair breaking and again he was nasty and out of control. He said I had to go through the warranty process like everyone else and he would get to me when he could. I told him how unhappy I was with the whole job and he hung up on me. That was over a month ago and I haven't heard from him. I keep a table cloth on my table to cover the horrible job he did, but I can't cover the chairs. Stay away from this company and the crazy person who owns it. I called for my Generator to get repaired right before we were watching one here in Florida, but because of the size of my Generator they couldn't pick it up and they were overloaded with repairs. They kept in touch with me and when they slowed down they sent a professional tech out to my home and he repaired it. Great service and great people! read more

Interesting that the other 1 star review for this scam business is designated as a "not recommended review". This unfortunately casts a cloud of suspicion over the legitimacy of YELP. This will probably be a not recommended review, but here it goes anyway: I brought my 2 handbags to Smart Choice Repair in early July 2018 to have them refurbished. Regrettably, I relied on (probably fabricated) good reviews online and I will never make this mistake again. A person named Tom, ostensibly the owner, assured me that he could make my bags look as good as new. He quoted me a price of 800 dollars. I thought this was an exorbitant amount of money to repair 2 bags, but he convinced me that they would be good as new. He did tell me at the time that I could pay by credit card. Several weeks went by and my bags were finally ready. Tom called me and told me I owed him 850 dollars. I stated that I was told 800 dollars originally. He went on to say something about how hard it was to fix my bags. I then asked if we could make it 831 to which he replied yes. I told him that my housekeeper was going to come to the store and pay by credit card. To which he conveniently told me that I have to pay either cash or check because the credit card machine was broken. Right there that was a red flag, but I just wanted my bags back. My housekeeper gave him a check for 831 dollars and when she returned I could not believe the condition of my bags. It was like nothing was done to fix them. Immediately, knowing that I had been scammed, I called my bank to stop payment on the check. Unfortunately, the scammer immediately deposited the check when he received it and there was nothing I could do. I called him and expressed my dismay that I paid over 800 dollars for this garbage. He instructed me to return the bags to the shop and he would fix it. Regrettably, I returned my bags to have them repaired, and several weeks went by when I received no follow up. I called Tom on Saturday 8/11 asking about the status of my bags. He told me he would call me on Monday, which of course he did not do. I called on Wednesday and despite his website stating that the shop is open until 9 pm, he told my housekeeper that she could only come by at 5 pm. Well, that was not possible. Finally, Friday 8/17 we called back and once again despite his website stating he is open until 9 pm, he said that I should not expect to be able to pick up my bags at 6 pm at night. When I pointed out to him that his website states that the shop is open until 9 pm, he said it is not open that late for customers, just the workers. He did not apparently like the fact that I was challenging him, and he accused me of "disrespecting him" and he then hung up on me. So as of now, he has my 2 bags and I am out 831 dollars. Please do something to stop this scammer. I am sure I am not the only one, and I am sure I am not the last one. read more

They promised 2-3 days business repair, turned into 23 days in total (holidays, difficult repair, ect.). Had to call several times to know status of my repair. Was treated rudely and when I was fed up with the responses I received and raised my voice, I was told that I was rude and Henry hanged the phone - talking about being rude!!!!! How come I dare to be upset??? Horrible customer service. When I finally received my eyeglasses (by mail), the repair is so poorly done that I will have to go ahead and do new eyeglasses (after paying $75 for the "repair").
