Absolute scam If I could give zero stars, I would. My experience with Smart City Locators was extremely disappointing and ultimately a complete waste of time. I initially reached out expecting professional guidance from someone with in-depth knowledge of the local rental market, apartment communities, pricing, amenities, and leasing considerations. Unfortunately, that was not what I received. Throughout the process, it became clear that the agent I worked with had very limited knowledge of the properties being recommended. Basic questions regarding building features, management quality, neighborhood differences, lease terms, and unit availability often went unanswered or were met with vague responses. Rather than acting as a knowledgeable advisor, the experience felt more like a sales transaction focused on getting me to sign a lease as quickly as possible. What concerned me most was the apparent lack of interest in understanding my actual needs and priorities. Instead of providing thoughtful recommendations based on my criteria, I felt repeatedly pushed toward specific units without any meaningful explanation as to why they were a good fit. The entire process gave the impression that the primary objective was securing a commission rather than helping a client make an informed housing decision. As a result, I ended up conducting most of my own research, contacting properties directly, verifying information independently, and learning far more on my own than through the service I was supposedly receiving. This completely defeated the purpose of working with an apartment locator in the first place. A service like this should provide expertise, local market knowledge, transparency, and value. In my experience, Smart City Locators failed to deliver on all of those expectations. Rather than simplifying my apartment search, they added frustration, confusion, and unnecessary delays. I rarely leave negative reviews, but prospective renters deserve an honest account of my experience. I want to make sure Scott is recognized for his amazing work in helping me find an apartment. 2 days after I started working with him from a different state, I signed a lease sight unseen for what seems like a great living experience with a responsive property management company. I am happy with my decision for now, and I suspect I will love living at the apartment complex once I move in; it looks much nicer than any apartment I've ever lived in, which is a good start. I'm not sure how I got in touch with Smart City in the first place. But from the very first text that he sent, Scott was friendly, professional, and approachable. From the list of options he sent me promptly, I could tell he considered every single feature I requested. I'm grateful that he found such great places for me to look through. He was extremely kind and patient with my indecision, which was partly due to every single property that he found for me being right on the mark. I felt badly for communicating with him after normal business hours, but he never made me feel like a bother. After all, I was on a time crunch to find a place to live, and he was empathetic enough to recognize that. I really like the way that they map out the properties on Google Maps and provide all the necessary details of each unit. Scott texted me video recordings of tours for each property (unit, amenities, exterior) that I was considering. My experience tells me that Smart City is a very professional, well-run company, and I lucked out working with such a great person and company (no scammer vibes ever detected). I hope y'all pay your agents their worth! Scott made my apartment search experience very seamless, and saving me from the mental headache of finding a place to live from out of state, during the winter, and with less than 1 week's notice, is invaluable. After I decided on the property, someone from the Smart City Connect team ("complimentary service where we offer discounts from our partners, including movers" - also utilities, renter's insurance, internet/cable) has continued to reach out to me to help me set up other things. I can see this being useful for someone who needs to set these up separately from the property or has never bought renter's insurance or used movers before. I get the sense that this company tries to maintain a long-term relationship with you, beyond helping you find the first property. As long as they continue to do amazing work and do not charge the customer a fee (otherwise this would greatly decrease the clientele pool), I would be happy to continue to use their services for my future housing needs. Kayla was nothing short of fantastic. My wife and I had very limited time to go look at places with our busy schedule so when I talked to her she assured me that she would have it narrowed down to just a few places to maximize the time we had. She sent us over some places after we got back from vacation for us to look over. We set up a couple appointments, she showed up well prepared, with all the pricing (full price and the price with any specials applied), info about the building etc and even brought a tape measure since we had forgotten ours. After we looked at the first place and before we looked at the second one she had prepared a spreadsheet with anything you could think of with pricing. You guys -- I can't even stress this enough, this. business. is. amaze. First of all, I didn't even know this is a service offered: they help find you your perfect apartment AND it's all free!? I know, I thought it was a scam too but check out their blog to how they actually earn money to make the service free to you. My agent that helped me find my perfect home: Reid Sangster. Cool guy & went above and beyond! I'm moving from Texas to Denver, so naturally, there are tons of logistics to plan out and he helped me with it all _ Tips for you: 1.Follow their Instagram account I followed them probably 8 months or so before actually deciding on a place to see what apartments/areas I should look at & prepare for. The post give great ideas and they have some great tips as well, like apparently a winter move is more cost efficient than a summer one! They also do Instagram stories of the apartment walkthroughs & sometimes community amenities! I'm always on the gram so this what a huge plus, they get back to you almost immediately too if you're interested in a property. Plus, they find some really awesome deals. Some of them almost too good, they go out too quick 2. Prepare a list of your needs & wants beforehand I'm a spreadsheet nerd so I probably had more information than needed, but it helped my agent save time with his search & understood my needs to help me find the right place. So if you have that list ready, it'll really save time for everyone. Pros: 1) Everyone on this team is super friendly! It's honestly so refreshing, they seem to genuinely care, idk about you guys but not everyone is nice to interact with lol. 2) Very responsive and timely! They are quick. My goodness. Absolutely love that. 3) Again, I just love their Instagram lol. I'm a social media manager & this just hits different for me, haha. It really does give me all I need as a future customer to find what to look for. 4) Though I don't really need it, they help connect you with movers/renters insurance/etc. to help you find a great deal when you've found your apartment. Not so much cons, but suggestions for them: Moving to a different state is hard -- more transparency & information about the neighborhoods, the apartment themselves & the management (history) would be fantastic! As a small minority woman with social anxiety, crime around a neighborhood is really important to me. After all, I think I deserve to feel safe & comfortable walking around where I live when I need a mental break ‍ I couldn't find a resource on the site & sadly didn't know Denver enough to understand that from a local point of view. I noticed from my extensive research that car theft/breaking into is a cause of concern! Especially in the city. So transparency on knowing crime in the surrounding area & management history on how they deal with the concerns would be great. I know it's iffy, a business conflict & might not help them get with more partners/apartments who have "problematic" management, but if anything, from a customer point of view. The transparency will build trust among the community & forces apartments to step up their game if they'd like to work with smart city! Giving them a chance to answer the FAQ or common issues might help level the playing field. __ Ok I digress, long story short. I absolutely love them.
