Scheduled an appointment here for this morning and when I arrived, the owner although pleasant conveyed to me that she couldn't do my type of hair. I simply do not understand an owner and operator of a hair salon not being skilled in any capacity of ethnic hair, especially when your business is in the perimeter of Atlanta. It simply doesn't make sense. I mean she was shook and my hair is easy. She was supposed to provide a reference but never did. Avoid this Salon !!! I made an appointment one week ago with Cathy of Smart Hair, who has been cutting my hair at this location for over 10 years. I have been a customer of the salon for 15 (with other hairdressers) and have spent thousands of dollars there over the years. I had a 10:30 am appt and while Cathy was getting my hair color ready, another customer came in for an appointment. The owner/manager Nina, said very loudly to Cathy that the customer who had walked in had booked an appointment a long time ago and told Cathy to tell her client (me) that she had to take care of the other lady. Cathy had already mixed my hair color and asked if I minded that she start taking care of the other customer. I said I do mind because I cannot be here 3 or 4 hours and told her I changed my mind and would just leave. The owner NINA grabbed my arm tightly as I was trying to walk out and said I couldn't leave because Cathy had already mixed the hair color. Cathy was grabbing my other arm apologizing. Nina was attempting to block the front door so that I would not leave, all the while squeezing my arm. I told her if she did not leave me leave I would call the police and have her charged with assault and attempted kidnapping, since she kept grabbing me to avoid me from leaving and blocking my exit. It;s not like I owed anything since I had had no services. This was terrible customer service and as I told Nina, there are plenty of other salons around. I can see now why a salon that was once booming with stylists and customers, now has only 2 employees (Nina & Cathy) and at 10:30 am on a Saturday morning which should be a busy time for a salon, only had 3 customers. She always listens to me and executes well, even from magazine pictures. Once I cut my pony tail off and she then shaped my hair into a nice short bob! Magic! This place is a nightmare. Long story short my girlfriend went in last week for a blonde color and the girl that did it turned some of the hair grey. She offered to fix it 2 days later. The problem is my GF had pictures at work the next day so she had her mom come at 6am the next morning to fix. She also bought a groupon online that the salon WILL NOT honor. This is a scam.. That groupon is still being sold and they will not honor it so do not buy it. It says it expires in November. I have called the salon twice and they just argue with me. They will not refund for the bad color job. I hope you see this review before you consider going to this place. If they mess your hair up they will charge you for it then they will scream and argue about it. read more

I went in here for a haircut shortly after moving to Roswell, hoping to find a similar "quality for low price" experience to the one I'd enjoyed for years in Snellville at Fancy Hair. Got a great haircut . Returned and asked for the same girl, but she was no longer working there, and of course they refused to divulge her whereabouts. Got a couple of poor to mediocre haircuts from two different Smart Hair stylists after that. The last straw was when a girl named "Sno" was asked to trim my bangs to just below eyebrows..She cut them halfway up my forehead! I had to push them back with a headband for a month until they were close to being presentable. This experience was significant in that it finally convinced me that the risk involved in budget haircuts FAR outweighs the potential benefit. Thank you Sno, for that at least. read more

A friend recommended to take my son to Smart Hair for his first haircut so I decided to go off her recommendation. Well, I wasn't sure why at first, because it is not a kids haircut place, but after being there for 5 minutes I knew why. The staff is incredibly friendly and spent about 15 minutes talking to my 5 month old boy and taking pictures with him (lol). Dani then said she would trim his hair. Been going to Smart Hair for a number of years. They used to be located next to the closed down Marshall's in this shopping center but then moved be next door to Publix. Dani and her crew work quickly and give great looks! I actually brought in a picture once of a hair cut that I has spotted in a magazine. Well, usually you bring in a picture and it turns out nothing like you had in mind. Not this time, it was spot on! They have a knack of seeing a hairstyle and recreating it on your head. Way to go! I honestly credit Smart Hair for my last two jobs! I went to their salon right before my job interviews and I swear that I think I got the jobs because of the professional hairstyle I had from them. Well, at least I think I had an air of confidence about me from assuming that I look great. ; ) They are reasonably priced but watch add ons, like coloring, etc....of course as with anything it can add up quickly. And the best part...they have these huge "message" machines at each stall, and after the haircut they give you a great back rub with the vibrator/message machine for free. I walked in this morning needing a color and high lites. The woman asked me if I was sure that this was what I wanted. Then told me that the woman who did that wasn't there and that there was one person in front of me. She did not offer to make an appointment with me, so I told them that I would go somewhere else. The worst part was not that they couldn't help me and that they didn't want to make an appointment, it was that as I was leaving she talked badly about me to the other person there. I've been going to Smart Hair for about 10 years now, since I was 17 years old! Dani and the wonderful women at the salon always take care of me and give me the most beautiful highlights and lowlights you've ever seen! I constantly get compliments when I'm out, "Where did you get your hair done?" "You're hair is beautiful!" And it's all thanks to Smart Hair. I tell everyone, "It's this awesome salon off Holcomb Bridge, I never pay more than $100, never! And always in-and-out in under 2 hours!" Recently, I went with my best friend to the Paul Mitchell Hair School because we had heard good things and supposedly really cheap. Well, to make a long story short, they destroyed both of our hair! My friend was terrified since it was a week before her wedding. I told her not to worry, I know exactly who can fix this and took her to Smart Hair (which we should've done from the beginning). Dani did both of our hair, I can't even describe how happy we both were with the results. My hair is back to normal with lots of highlights and my friend's is her natural color with BEAUTIFUL highlights and a slight ombre. Honestly, these women are miracle workers! **Thank you Dani, YOU ARE AMAZING!!!** So if you are reading this review because you are wondering if you should go to this salon...Look no further! Used to go to Smart Hair under previous owner, and decided to give the new owner a try. first cut was way too short, but a good cut, so I went back. told the owner it was too short but an excellent cut. ah, yes, she understands....NOT. Worst cut of my entire life. went to Europe and was thankful I was not likely to run into anyone I knew. I would never go back to this salon. I used to frequent this salon. My last experience here was so awful, I'd never set foot in this place again. My appointment was scheduled in advance, I'd planned to get a Brazilian Blowout, a Lip Waxing and a Hair Cut. The price they quoted was for 45 dollars for the Blowout, when I spoke with the stylist she asked if I wanted a keratin treatment, and then said something about $300 which is the price of another service that the salon offers. Apparently she knew what service I'd had in mind though when I'd requested the Brazilian Blowout, because of her reference to the Keratin treatment. As I sat in the chair I asked her to cut 1/2 inches, but then thats when she got real dumblike, just began blowing dry and straightening my hair, then when I asked her to stop touching my hair until I was sure of what we were agreeing upon she argued that she wanted to put product in my hair, didn't say which product or what it did, then began telling me she was just going to take a little "off the top." My hair is shoulder length. Then continued to hassle me about showing her a photo of a Brazilian Blowout/ Keratin Treatment. I left & won't be back. Now I've got to wait for my hair to grow out before my next appointment or just deal with not getting the style, cut and treatment I want, or I just have to deal with not being satisfied at my next appointment because of this salons errors. read more
