Harden is awesome! She is patient and informative. We had a third party radon short-term and long-term test in 2021. The short-term returned at 27.6 pCi/L and the long-term at 12.1 ± 1.6 pCi/L. These results are horrifying! After some research on mitigation specialists, I decided on Smart Space Atlanta. Within 48 hours after installation of the mitigation system, which was pretty much custom since I requested they conceal the system running it through my floors and ceiling versus outside alongside my house, my radon average was 0.3. Fast forward to two years later, I tested two separate areas of the basement with short-term test conducted by Alpha Energy Labs. The room furthest away from the mitigation system returned at Less than 0.9 pCi/L and the main area of the returned at less than 0.7 pCi/L. These are pretty amazing results! We have a 2 story traditional house with a 2 zone thermostat. The second floor temperature was significantly different than the first floor, despite how we set the thermostat. In the summer, my daughter's room was so hot that we had to use a ceiling fan plus an electric fan to get it down to a tolerable temperature. Our overnight guests came with their own fans. Yes, you heard that right. As another example, the coconut oil stored upstairs melted and the temperature never allowed it to solidify. This was despite getting a new AC unit a few years ago AND hiring a company to replace our thermostat AND setting the thermostat several degrees higher than it actually needed to be AND having our attic insulated. Of course, we had the opposite problem in the winter. Enter Smart Space. Harden and her crew conducted an energy audit for us. We went with their recommendations of a weatherization package and had our ductwork cleaned and sealed. Harden is very professional and personable. She took the time to go over everything and was always available to answer questions. I had complete confidence in her and her team. Smart Space stands behind their work and takes pride in getting the job done right. They were extremely thorough and professional. We had some anomalies with our house that made our job.... not-so-straightforward. Smart Space persisted in figuring out the various sources of the leaks and spent many long days in our hot, cramped, buggy, dirty crawl space until they had nailed down every. last. one. The post energy audit projected that we would reduce our energy consumption within the required amount, qualifying us for the $1000 rebate. What was immensely beneficial is that Harden knows the program inside and out. She helped us maximize our return while not having to break the bank. She also completed the reports and submitted all the documentation to GA Power on our behalf. No confusing paperwork on our end! It has only been a few months and we have not yet seen this reduction in our energy consumption or the cost of electric bills (compared to last year). It has been a very long and hot summer. We are giving it time and hope to see more of a difference in the winter months. In the end, we've noticed a significant different in the house temperature. Now there is no climate change between the 2 floors and we are actually benefiting from the energy the AC kicks out and getting more comfortable temperatures as a result. I now have to actually leave my home to know how hot it is outside. Walking back inside is still a surprisingly and much welcomed relief! I highly recommend Smart Space. Harden and the Smart Space crew are wonderful to work with! After our energy audit (which will blow your mind!), we had the Smart Space team do significant duct repair/re-balancing and sealing, further sealing in the attic, and installation of new windows (went from single-pane aluminum frames from the 60's to double-pane awesomeness that blocks out 95% of the UV). Our AC unit runs much more efficiently (their work took us from having a 44 square inch hole throughout our system down to less than 3 square inches), and the new windows have made all the difference in the world. In the first month since all the work was completed, our energy bill went down almost 30% - and it was HOT outside, AND we actually turned the AC down several degrees during that time. Also, we have a split-level house, and the temperatures varied wildly throughout the house. Those differences have been greatly minimized, and now we're comfortable across all three levels. People, it's worth the investment to get the infrastructure in your home as efficient as possible. Smart Space did a superb job with our Radon Abatement System installation. Harden, our contact there, was superb in the management of the project. We had 3 bids and hers was, by far, the most professional and helpful. A radon pipe can be an eyesore but she found a hidden spot in a basement closet (that the other two contractors missed) and we really appreciated that aspect of the work. The work was on time and flawless and Harden has kept in touch with us over the years to make sure that everything was working okay. She really goes the extra mile... I have had a dust problem in my 22 yr old home for a long time. I am so happy that I contracted with SmartSpace, the GREAT team worked a full day HVAC duct sealing, weather-stripping 3 doors, sealing 12 can lights and exterior wall electrical outlets and attic tenting for the pulldown. All these improvements were audited by the electronic testing equipment that showed a greater than 20% reduction of energy needs that qualified me for the Ga. Power 2 rebates, I am thrilled and wish I had done these improvement years ago!!! The comfort, energy savings and much less dust to speak of will give me much pleasure over the coming years!!! We hired Smart Space to peform an energy audit on our house and I'm so glad we did! Turns out we had bats living in our attic, who weren't even paying rent! In addition to notifying us of our unwanted housemates, Harden was able to pinpoint places in our home that need some major and minor upgrades! She really took the time to explain each upgrade and how it would directly benefit our bottom line. She didn't pressure us to make upgrades we weren't comfortable with.
