The primary care practice I've used for 30 years got bought by Village Walgreens a few years ago. I shattered my kneecap 3 days ago. It needs surgery. They told me 5 days to get a referral through. No escalation path for emergencies. My doc put a STAT and rush on it. Their "referral specialists" just speak from a script. Forget ever talking directly to a provider. Even though I like my doc and hate starting over, I'm changing at the end of the year during open enrollment along with my Medicare plan. It's attorney time before I can't walk again! I am relatively new to Houston I came to Villiage Medical as a new patient I went to the Vintage and my family physician was Dr. Varghese At 1st I was excited with the staff and my care I have a lot of health issues and concerns. The Dr. informed she needed to refer me to a few specialist doctors In the meantime I needed forms to be filled out to make a long story short my forms that I left for the doctor sat under a pile of paperwork And, my doctors refferral were incorrect for my issues and insurance and to put the topping on everything my doctor had stopped answering my request and I could not even sign in on the portal Response to questions would not be addressed This patient treatment is unacceptable and I will not tolerate this type of treatment I always tried to treat people as I would like to be treated I requested someone from the complainant department to call me so that I could voice my concerns and never received a phone call I asked again today and the person at the front desk told me Chris will call me back today and no phone number to reach him was available I am so disappointed I thought this would be my medical care and doctor for a long time I feel so let down and helpless read more

I advise caution when dealing with this location and Dr. Michael Davis. I visited for a routine annual physical exam, which is fully covered by my insurance. Having learned from last year when I was billed extra for asking questions, I refrained from doing so. Despite my efforts, the doctor attempted to provoke questions from me, to which I responded that I was fine. He then persistently promoted Mounjaro and Ozempic, which I refused. Two weeks later, I received a bill for $125, stating that the charges were outside the scope of the physical exam. Last year, I ended up paying the additional charges as I had engaged in his inquiries. This year, even though I avoided the questions, I was still billed. Mixed reviews. I've been with Village 20 yrs, but my main doctor quit recently. Dr Erie was phenomenal. Caring, compassionate, and competent. There have been many changes in the past 5-6 yrs, and i hate how corporate it has become. Its impossible to reach your doctor directly, and the system has been overly complicated for the same number of years. I've noticed they went from 2/3 locations in Houston to about 30, and i assume they've fallen to a private equity like so many other practices, which tend to run practices into the ground.My attempts to get assigned to a new doctor has been crazy hard, including getting a call the day before that oops, i shouldn't have been allowed to schedule with a new doctor. read more

Dr. Grace Kim is an exceptional physician--extremely intelligent with outstanding bedside manner. You truly can't go wrong with her care. Because she's so good, it can be a bit difficult to get an in-person appointment quickly, but thankfully, she offers tele-health visits, which are usually all I need. It's worth noting that support staff can vary between offices, and unfortunately, that can impact the overall experience. At this location, prescriptions aren't always checked for insurance coverage, and alternatives aren't suggested if something isn't covered. While Dr. Kim steps in when needed, she's far too busy to be handling tasks that should be managed by staff. Still, Dr. Kim herself is top-tier. Highly recommend her if you're looking for a smart, compassionate, and thorough doctor. read more

I was with Memorial Clinical Associates for over 25 years and then something bad happened. They were bought by Village Medical. Village Medical is now owned by Walgreens and I must say Village Medical service is as bad or worse than Walgreens. They rescheduled my appointment twice over a 3 month period only to find out my Doctor no longer works there. (It is probably because they mandate that their Doctors see 4 patients per hour that he left.) They followed up with a robo call to ask for a rating. I had to give them a one because zero was not available. After 25 years I am moving on. read more

They keep wanting your to come in and get billed. As long as they are billing you they have there end covered. They don't care about the patients time or convenience. I have messaged my doctor 3 times in four days. But the message isn't getting to my doctor. The person screening the messages keeps replying ... come in and talk to the dr. I tell them "I have ... please communicate to my dr." She keeps replying with a comment "I think it's best you come in and speak to the doctor" I finally explain what you think is "best" is not working for the patient. In the last couple of weeks, I have had to call my provider - which is an exercise in futility. You will be sent to a call center - NOT your office. You will only talk to a "middle-man" between you and your provider office. Forget calling the office for a simple question - LIKE THEIR FAX NUMBER. The quality of care does not line up with the "Corporatization" of what used to be a great family practice. When Hatfield Medical sold to Village Medical it was the worst thing they could do for patient care. I love my provider - I absolutely HATE that we've become cogs for a corporate machine and not patients anymore. I really need to find a new PCP. :( read more

Absolutely horrendous! I have been going here for 15 years and it has really gone downhill. I went in just a few weeks ago to get my finger wrapped due to a bad cut. The nurse refused to help me out and told me to take a hike. Since I was angry they had the security guard escort me out the building. I assumed they assigned me a new doctor and asked the nurse that came in first to take my BP and ask questions and I asked the nurse how to say the doctors name. It would have been nice to have been told at that moment that he isn't a doctor, he's a nurse. no one told me that they assigned me to a nurse and away from a doctor. I had used this location for many years and saw PA Sara Wingate and also got my dad to see her to convince my dad to get back on his diabetes med. I saw Sara in on May 24th, 2023 for a regular check-up and blood work which my insurance covers. Sara Wingate left the practice and my appointment in August was canceled. Now I am receiving a bogus bill to my insurance they are having the nerve to adjust that bill that was originally 292.00 and a $30.00 copay to a whopping 11362.99 and trying to charge me $1,971.35. This is absolutely insane. I spoke to an employee in their billing department who assured me that the bill was not correct and was being corrected and I had him remove my card from the account. I have surgery scheduled on the 26th and this could ruin my deductible information with my insurance for the surgery that I need for sleep apnea. I sent them a letter in writing as well to remove this fraudulent incorrect bill from their system. They have yet to do so and I will not pay them another dime. I will be reporting Village medical and never going there ever again after this ridiculous bill. It says this on the bill Wingate, Sara PA (billed on behalf of DeBroeck, Julius MD). I have NEVER EVER seen this Debroeck, Julius doctor EVER the 8+ years I went to this location before it became Village Medical. Steer clear of this medical practice. I called my insurance on the line regarding this bill and was told that it is a "system glitch" and will probably not be fixed until the 26th. I am still dissatisfied but glad I was able to get him on a recorded line saying this with my insurance on the line. With my PA no longer there I am not going to return and will find a new healthcare provider and take my dad with me as well. It's all about the money! The practice my wife and I were clients of for 11 years recently sold out to Village Medical. Our PCP continued on with the practice after the acquisition for a period of time but has now moved on. My last annual was 5 months ago. I received notice from my pharmacy that i needed to speak with my doctor about a sinus medication I'm on before it could be filled. Upon speaking to the VM practice I was notified that it is THEIR policy that patients be seen every 3 to 6 months before medication can be prescribed. This is a bold and blatant money grab. Why after years of ANNUAL checkups does this company feel they can dictate their clients be seen in the office every 3 to 6 months? $500 charged for a check-up, which took 10 mins. No bloodwork. Nothing but a checkup. I asked for an itemized bill and when received it was all codes. There are 18 line items of charges and adjustments and each has a code. None of the charges make sense. I asked for a decoder on how to associate these codes with something meaningful and was told that is all they could give me. They obfuscate charges. They are intentionally cryptic. Like many others, Village Medical bought out my long time family physician's office. I think it was around the end November of 2021. By the end of Nov 2023, they shut the office down and my doctor wasn't retained. The way they shut the office down was wrong.... They gave approximately 3 weeks notice to the patients, and I believe the staff found out around then as well, and shut the office down the day before Thanksgiving. This appears to be how they do their shut downs and I believe it's a poor way to do things. Three weeks for elderly, or those with complex health histories to figure out continuity of care with a provider that is normally quite booked up already for the 3 weeks was unnecessary stress. I was worried at the time that I wouldn't be able to see the provider before he was no longer with the company and yet he managed to get me in one last time before they shut the doors. The notifications from VMD are messed up. First I got one telling me they were closing in about 3 weeks and my doctor was leaving VMD but I was to have my future appts forwarded to another location....Then around the time they closed I got another notification saying that VMD is welcoming my a new provider, my Provider and that I could call for an appt. He was and is not with VMD, and they have left the location vacant. In January of 2024 I received a bill. It said it was past due. It was a collection of a bunch of charges from 2023 that looks like they were scraping my account to see if anything got missed in billing and this is what they came up with. This is my guess since all I get when I've asked is "special processes", whatever that means. I asked for an itemized bill for these dates of service and I get pages of info but not for the dates in question. Then when I ask why my balance is and has been zero but I'm past due on a bill I had no clue existed I was told "special processes". I requested to see a statement of my balances since it was no longer available through the portal since it says they updated it and for questions to call them, which is exactly what I did. The bill is paid, but I want to know how to avoid this surprise next year and they told me to call them after each appointment to see what I'll end up owing. What good will that do? When I get a couple hundred dollar surprise bill next year, will the "I called and was told it was x each time" do me any good at all? Nope. Did I mention that they submitted a couple of the charges to the insurance company 6 times in one day? They clearly have billing dept issues that should be looked into. I'm honestly not upset about the provider and if I owe a bill I owe it but it's how they handle things that I don't like. Their notifications about the shut down, their incessant notifications when you have a balance and then their surprise bills that they say you're late on before you get your first one are just poor business. Their customer service was incredibly difficult to understand and just kept saying "special processes". VMD took a patient focused family physician's office and ran it out of business to bolster their crappy primary care provider business that appears to not really care about their patients or their staff but about their bills, sort of. I don't have an issue with my current provider at VMD but I'm looking for another practice away from VMD as I don't feel confident or like a patient but more a number. read more

Can't get ahold of anyone in the office, they literally hide behind a wall & don't give out any numbers that don't go to the answering service. 9 times out of 10, you are talking to someone in India. There's multiple discussion feeds about how these people always charge a copay for a yearly check-up that is free on any insurance plan. Run away from this place. Unfortunately, Village Medical, owned by Walgreens, is showing the ugly side of corporate medicine. Memorial Clinical Associates sold out to this place, so I felt like I had to give them another try. Unfortunately, my MCA doctor passed away. I wound up getting shuffled over to Dr. Grace Kim. I felt like she didn't want to hear me and didn't care about my problem. At one point when I was expressing my concerns, she LAUGHED IN MY FACE. That's right, literally laughed at me. In the end, she sent me for several in-house ($$) tests, but did nothing to treat me. I went to another practice where the doctor immediately diagnosed the problem and prescribed appropriate medication to get me on the road to recovery. There is no personal service at Village Medical. My husband was ILL. He had an infection and he is immunocompromised. He called to see his doctor. Well, who we THOUGHT was his doctor. My husband was told his doctor couldn't see him until December. (It is October now.) I don't think his infection was gonna wait until December. I used the Village Medical for a couple of common health issues a while ago. The office is nearby, nicely furnished, and a sluggish front desk but I usually do not mind that. The care was provided by a PA and an NP. What I minded was a couple of months later, they sent me bills of $25 for each primary care visit which accumulated up to $75. My health insurance covers Primary Care visits but these are extra charges by Village Medical and you do not know until a few months later. I also received annoying text messages from Village Medical to invite me to visit more. I consider this an abuse of the health system dollars. Be aware that your health insurance will be charged for money if they ask you about your feelings of depression if you exercise... $25 does not seem much but you don't have to if you go to other clinic. read more

Even when someone from the doctors office calls you and leaves a message, you can't call them back, you have to go through the call center, and they are clueless!! They claim they don't have updated information when I verified that my previous Dr. had sent them. I Just met with one of their nurse practitioners at the Chandler office. Her her first name is Bright. She has an awful attitude. More interested in spewing her "knowledge" than listening to what you're there for. She has horrible bedside manner, she's not interested in helping you, she doesn't read your chart before entering the room, and she will cut you off mid sentence, and definitely is not interested in helping you. I have been a patient of Dr. Heatly's for 15 years, traveling a greater distance if she moved locations. Yes, she makes her patients feel that comfortable. She has helped me raise my family by giving their caregiver, the best care. Due to treatment by another provider, during my cancer treatment, I lost faith in the medical community and it almost cost me my life. Dr. Heatly , through persistence and encouragement , directed me to a competent medical team. My children and my now grown grandchildren have also chosen Dr. Heatly as their primary care giver. Dr Heatly is a compassionate, thorough professional. Her standard of care has maintained excellence throughout the years. Despite Dr. Heatly's excellent care, the treatment I received from an employee at the Tomball, Texas location yesterday leaves me asking myself, should I find a new provider. I refuse to pay someone's paycheck and them be disrespectful because I question why they are asking me repeated questions. The SAME questions I filled out on the online check in to manage MY time. Complete history updated !! Medication list and reason for visit etc. But 20 minutes is ridiculous. An hour and forty five minutes before my virtual appointment, I stayed receiving phone calls. The girl was obviously not appropriate for the position, as she has no people skills, phone skills. When I asked her a question she was short and abrupt. I asked her not to be rude I wanted to know why I was having to answer the same exact questions I filled out online. She hung up on me! I called the main office , where I was reconnected to the same rude person. SHE came on the line. These are her words. No hello--- nothing. " Mrs. ______, I'm the one who disconnected you, your appointment is at 2:45 ". Then she proceeded to hang up again as I'm saying , "Whoa, whoa, what is your name". Which she hesitated to give, but did. "ANNA LILY". My daughter and grand daughter knew exactly whom I was speaking of. Both stated they had similar experiences with , Anna Lily's lack of enthusiasm for her trade, as well as manners. I was going to cancel my third appointment but the agent said to wait until my insurance was billed again to see if they would pay for 4 appointments when I only went in twice. The only update I received was a collection agency telling my my bill was overdue. I couldn't even pay through the patient portal so I called Village Medical Billing to just pay the double charge and to cancel my third appointment. This complaint is regarding their billing department. When it comes to taking a payment they are quick I made a payment and then I had to reschedule I was never seen by any physician. So I have been calling the billing department for the past 3 days. I hit opt 5 then opt 2 it comes on and says If you would like to save your place in line and receive a call back when your place in line is reached press 4. I press 4 and never has any called back. This medical facility has by far given me an awful experience entirely. I recently switched PCPs to Dr. Kovacs, and because I have an HMO, I need to get referrals from my doctor in order to go to a specialist. I had an appointment booked for 13 July at 9:30 to have a general checkup and to get my referrals. I received a call from an unknown "no caller ID" number saying that the doctor needs to cancel. Because I don't answer calls with "no caller ID", I just listened to the voicemail. I call Village Medical and they say that Dr. Kovacs has no openings for the next 120 days. They also say she's in the process of moving locations on 19 July and give me the number to the location she is moving to. So, I call the Village Medical off of N. Shepherd and have an even harder time with rescheduling an appointment that the doctor canceled herself! They end up telling me someone with her office will call. Person calls and it's from another unknown "no caller ID" number. Didn't pick up, listened to the voicemail, and called back the number they left. It was the general number for Village Medical. I end up talking to the same person I'd talked to before that told me Dr. Kovacs has no appointments for 120 days, and he had absolutely no idea what call I was talking about, or who "Jacqueline" (the unknown caller that left the voicemail) was. I'm not too sure where the fault lies- perhaps administration or the physicians themselves. Either way, it is an awfully run practice and I advise anyone who decides to go here to think twice. read more

Horrible service for "At Home" Patients like my elderly parents who are confined to a wheelchair and bed! They were to receive bloodwork on 10/23 and were sent an email stating Village Medical had to cancel. NO REASON for doing so!!! I then found out it was because the "At Home" nurse QUIT! That's not my parent's problem but has become one because after numerous attempts to contact Village Medical we have received NO REPLY!!! I went to VM twice in one month with concerns of pneumonia. I saw 2 providers on 2 different occasions, 2 weeks apart with ongoing complaints of shortness of breath, fever night sweats and was advised it was not pneumonia but a lingering chronic cough from my previous history of lymphoma 20 years ago. The second provider was dismissive and told me he "wasn't concerned about low grade fevers." I called the office at least 3 times in between appointments looking to speak to someone about my ongoing concerns and was never called back. The days after I left my second follow up appointment with the NP I called my oncologist and was admitted to MD Anderson. I spent over a week in patient with double pneumonias, pleural effusions and pericarditis. My ejection fraction dropped 10 % and I am still dealing with follow ups. Village medical continues to receive these reports and advised me they would refund my charges at their offices and needless to say have done nothing. I DO NOT recommend. I have reached out to the boards as a result. read more
