It started out well, I explained what I wanted and showed photos. She was kind, had lots to tell me about her life story, kids, in-laws and whatever else came to mind. The treatment for the hair consult as well as anything to do with touching my hair was where it got rough. She pulled my hair, whapped my in the head with brushes, the hair dryer and curling iron. The shampoo process was so painful with all the hair pulling and her whacking my head. My neck was sore for 2 days after the appointment from where she dug her fingers into me. She started cussing while telling me her stories. It was really kinda frightening and the first time I ever thought about ending a hair appointment early and walking out. When all was said and done, the bronde balyage we agreed on was mostly brown with red highlights. I wanted to cry. That is 2 hours and change and over $300 that I'll never get back.

I was looking for someone who uses Wella products when I called, she said no one there does, but Sarany uses Redken. I booked the appointment with the receptionist, rates on line for a partial highlight say $140+. Went to appointment, had partial highlight done, nothing else. No frills salon, clean, friendly staff, highlight color was fine. I'd just had my hair highlighted/cut 5 weeks before this appointment at a different higher end salon in Thornton and paid $140 for a partial and haircut, this is a 5/6 week ritual and I was looking for a permanent salon who can do a simple highlight blonde color that my last (out of state) salon did for over five years for $120.00. Nothing crazy, very basic. At check out the receptionist said the visit was $230.00, I was shocked at the price because this was a very basic partial highlight using Redken products. I've been to two other higher end salons in Thornton where I was charged $140- included haircut & $160 - included gloss, for the same service but felt the color was still a bit off after trying both places so wanted to try Trendz. I paid the $230 and gave her a 20% tip, booked another appointment and left. After I got home I was upset about the price because we had never discussed it, I assumed it would fall into line on what there website says, as well as what I'd paid at two other salons in Thornton. I sent Sarany a text thanking her for the service but told her I was unhappy with the charge. She replied back that she charged me the base rate due to the recommendation of the receptionist instead of her normal charge - whatever that means???? and if I wanted her to cancel my next appointment due to price she would & recommended I return to a less expensive salon. Greed is NEVER good. Making a few extra bucks off me, won't pay off. I ended up paying $275 with tip for a partial highlight, my bad for not clarifying pricing, but her bad for taking advantage. So instead of a new happy client that has regular service every 5/6 weeks and always tips 20% she has an unhappy client that will never go back. The positive is the color was good & she was friendly, I would have returned- probably for several years! Now I'm wasting my time writing a review warning new clients to get pricing (in writing-don't trust there website prices) before your appointment so you don't feel taken advantage of like I do. I thought going to the hairdresser was supposed to be fun, nothing was fun about this experience, very disappointed and put off about even trying another salon.

Absolutely do not recommend getting your makeup done by Dee at Ivy Beauty and Hair…read more I booked her to do my hair and makeup for my anniversary dinner and to try her out to see if I liked her work so she could do my makeup for my engagement pictures but it was a horrible experience. I've never looked uglier than when I left the salon. I was in tears and I ended up just canceling dinner. I was specific about several things I wanted/didnt like and she did the complete opposite. For starters, I told her I didnt want my makeup to to look too dry/cakey and she put on a super matte/drying foundation. The contour was probably a shade darker than the foundation cuz I couldn't even see it and I dont think she put any blush on even though I had asked for it and so the base made me looked super washed out and cakey. I have powder brows so I told her we didnt have to do anything to them but she proceeded to flatten them down with brow gel without even cleaning them up where she got foundation on them so I was left with crusty flat brows with foundation all over them. The eye makeup.......that was what really made it unsalvage-able....I showed her a picture for inspiration, it was a brown soft glam look with a pop of gold shimmer on the lid. Well she went ahead and did the entire thing with shimmers!! The entire thing done with shimmers! I should've known it wasnt gonna look good when she finished it in 5 minutes! No effort to make it look like the picture or properly blend it out....I thoroughly told her that I ONLY wanted inner corner eyeliner and a long wing NO liner on my actual lid. I told her i wanted to tight line my upper lash line with mascara so NO EYELINER WAS NECESSARY ON THE ACTUAL LID. Welp, she proceeded to put the thickest liner all the way on my eyelids! Probably to cover the ugly eyeshadow? I dont know but I was very specific about that! I also let her know I didnt want anything dark on my lower lash line, tell me why she put BLACK eyeliner on my lower lashline? Oh man...and I did ask her to fix a few things as she was going but it was all a wreck and didnt look like it could even get fixed at a certain point so I just gave up. I asked if she could take the lower liner off and she "took it off" by adding more concealer on my already cakey under eyes and the liner was still there anyway...oh and when she added the concealer, it made the liner bleed and it turned blue? So now my lower lash line was a smudgy blue/black mess. I told her how I like my liner done. I like a long sharp wing, she gave me a short curl wing and she never did the inner corner even after I brought it up a couple of times. I told her i didnt like lash strips and just wanted mascara, she went ahead and crookedly put some lashes on me. She didn't even let me choose the style or anything. She also didnt even ask what lip color I wanted and she put on a super light nude that washed me out even more than the messed up base had already done. As far as the hair goes, I asked for my bangs to be styled a certain way because I dont like when they part, well she went ahead and parted them and dried them to the side and made them super flat. I asked her if she could redo them because I like more volume and having them down the middle so she did but she left me looking like somebody's Tia in the 80s.....the hairstyle itself was the one thing I didnt hate even though i asked for volume and she didnt add enough of it for my liking.....overall everything was just a mess....when she was done even she looked at me shocked at how ugly it all looked, I was clearly tearing up over how bad it all came out and she still had the nerve to charge me the full $180. If you're gonna charge that much, LISTEN TO YOUR CLIENT. At the very least don't do the complete opposite of what they're asking! I still, stupidly, tipped her $20 and that felt like the worst $200 spent. This ended up ruining my anniversary cuz no way i was going out in public like that. I didnt even wait to go home to try and fix it. I went into the salon bathroom and immediately wiped that hideous lip color and took the lashes off. I tried to fix it at home but it was beyond repair. Oh and throughout the whole thing she didnt even bother making any sort of conversation, not personable at all. Almost as if she was doing me a favor and not happy about it.

She's patient, thoughtful, customer focused and did a great job helping me convert a pixie bob in that awkward grow out phase to a cute textured bob. Aveda products - YAY! Needless to say, I've already scheduled a color appointment, and Ceci was kind enough to give me rough estimates for what I would like to do, though I'll plan ahead since I know it's tough to get an accurate final cost since that can depend on so much.
