Decided to stop in here since it was lunch time, I was in the area and I hadn't had a blackbean burger in awhile. It was around 1:00pm and I stopped to dine in and ordered a blackbean burger, onion drinks and a drink. My first surprise was the bill, just over $18 and change! I don't recall ever spending even close to $18 for a fast food lunch for myself. Anyway I took my cup and filled it then sat down at one of their tables and decided to go to the restroom to wash my hands. There are two restrooms side by side and they are both unisex. I chose to use the one closest to the kitchen. Immediately upon entering the restroom. I was hit with an overwhelming stink of weed, along with some type of deodorizer ( I would guess in a poor attempt to mask that disgusting smell). No one else had come in or walked out of the restroom in the few minutes I was there. In fact, I was the only customer in the restaurant at the time of the incident. As a paying customer, I expect a clean and inviting atmosphere when I go to dine out and yes that includes the facilities in the business as well. The manager of this store should be aware of the activities of not only its customers but it's employees as well and any issues that could affect customer satisfaction should be immediately addressed and corrected. Honestly I was a bit disappointed with this restaurant. It has a decent interior and a nice customer base (as evidenced by the long lines), but there was nothing particularly impressive about their actual burgers. I would almost choose Burger King over them, especially since this restaurant is a bit pricey. They did have some interesting "smashburger" fries (olive oil, garlic, and rosemary)...too greasy for me and would probably be a better side for a steak vs. a burger. Then, Potbelly's Oreo shakes are better, but these are a close second. Nothing particularly bad about the burgers, but nothing particularly great either. I visited SmashBurger with my husband and son after a visit to the Oak Lawn Children's museum (it's within walking distance). I know SmashBurger is a chain, but I had never been to one and didn't quite know what to expect - except for the burgers, of course. I ordered a Classic Smash while my husband ordered the Classic Chicken - both were exceptional. In fact, I'd even say that I liked the taste of the chicken better than the burger! My preschooler had the kid's burger meal and there wasn't a single complaint about anything. Overall, a great spot to enjoy a burger! read more

This restaurant has a beautiful outdoor patio, but is in need of good cooks and bartenders. The food is cooked completely wrong. The potato skins are like giant potato wedges, terrible pizza, rock hard boneless chicken, big old pieces of corned beef, etc... Everything I have ordered food and mixed drink has been terrible, nice waitresses, and that's it!! In addition, this weekend they had a elementary sport team visit. It was a party of basically thirty, and the kids were playing ping pong on a broke down old table . As the kids were playing, I guess one kid accidentally fell on the table and security was called. The party of thirty arrived about 9:00 p.m and were told at about 9:20 p.m they need to leave at 10:00 pm and pay $100.00 for the damage to ping pong table. Durbin, concentrate on getting better cooks and bartenders and maybe your place of business will have more than 10 customers!!! read more

It's been 3x I've been to the place within a 2 week span. I absolutely love it! I can't understand all of these complaints. :( Walked in for the first time and immediately fell in love with its cleanliness, modern style & friendly staff. The bathrooms, to me, were practically "eat-off-the-floor-able." Smelled wonderful and CLEAN! Down to business: I love the fact you can choose from a variety of buns...I think there are 6 different types. I'm a fan of the "create your own" burger as of course, you decide what you want and don't want on your burger. The place IS a bit expensive but I definitely say you get a totally different taste VS. Disappointed is an understatement. We wanted a good place to eat to fill us up and we ordered a grilled chicken sandwich with a large fry and a Mac and cheese burger with a sweet potato fry. We waited for our food and we didn't receive any of our fries. The Mac and cheese on the burger was cold and they only added lettuce and mayo to the chicken sandwich. As I'm writing this 15 minutes later we still have not received our fries. The only reason I rated this place one star is because they provided edible food. I just went to Smashburger for the 1st time, one on 95th st. Sunday 8-28 about 4pm. While waiting on my order for a avocado burger and large frie, paid 13.10 for. 5 young white boys walked in around ages 9 or 10 yrs old. They approached the counter 1 asked for 5 cups for all of them, they paid nothing and went to soda machine, each got different flavor soda for free and sat down at table, I informed the lady who I thought was manager and she said they were suppose to get water. i wonder how many times these kids have gotten away with this. I said since they got their sodas free I would like a free soda, she said sure help yourself. If this had been 5 black boys walking in stealing sodas I'm sure Oak lawn police would have been called or they would have been confronted. I was craving a smash burger and sweet potato fries. As I walked up I think that the gal saw me but she continued to walk to the back. I waited at the counter for maybe 4 or 5 minutes. She came back out and asked if I was picking up or ordering. I said I am placing order. She had attitude and said "Oh Jesus". I was taken aback and said "forget it" and I walked out. I ordered from Smashburger last night because I hadn't been there in a long while. Ordering online is actually a breeze, so no problem there. I ordered the BBQ Bacon and Cheddar Chicken with the Smash Tots and the Mrs. had the Bacon Avocado Club Chicken with Smash Fries. Normally, I love Smashburger, but I don't know...the food seemed ordinary when I got home and started eating. You can always win me over with BBQ, bacon, and cheddar on anything but I don't know...the food just seemed unusually bland and ordinary. Even my wife thought the same about her sandwich. The fries and tots were ok...nothing overly special but not bad either. I am thinking the problem on both chicken sandwiches was a lack of seasoning...and possibly the sandwiches sat too long before I picked up my order (though I was there before the order was ready, so go figure). As much as they charge for their sandwiches, this could be executed much better. In addition, though the training GM was a nice guy at the register, I wasn't feeling the welcoming love like they used to display in years past. Last, the beverage machine counter was very messy, sticky, and in need of regular cleaning intervals throughout the day. Years ago, Smashburger was definitely the spot...but this visit was just...ordinary. In addition, you do not get your money's worth for the food, in my opinion. If you have not been to @smashburger then you need to come check it out. They have a menu where you can pick your protein( chicken, beef , turkey, and black bean) , bun, cheese, and condiments. While I understand that freshly cooked food takes more time than the traditional fast-food restaurant, fifty (50) minutes from ordering to receipt of my order is ridiculous. It took 20 minutes to take the order and another 30 minutes to receive the order. The nonchalant attitude and no apology for the inordinate time to complete the order is inexcusable. Terrible service and food! Waiting in drive thru for more time then the food is worth. Order a polish and fries to go and it's colder Alaska... call to get credit for next time so they put me on hold I have to wait on the phone and instead of them taking down my name for next time I come back... this guy wants me to give him an exact timeframe I'm coming back so he can fix everything. I told him I can't give him that answer because I have plans and I can't promise to come back tomorrow and don't think it's necessary to have to come in. Put my name down and I'll come back another day. He keeps insisting that he's trying to work with me and that I need to give him a time I will come back to correct the order... he than just hangs up the phone on me. This is a family favorite for myself and the kids! I ALWAYS get the Windy City Burger. It's nice how you can choose you meat or bun, or no bun! We like the fried pickles, veggie frites, shakes, grilled chicken and my hubbie likes the Smashfries(only reason I don't is I'm not a fan of rosemary). The service is always good but I must say it was Terrific today! I think every employee checked on us, even the chef! My review was 4 stars but the service bumped it to the 5. Only reason I was considering 4 is because of the parking and sometimes my burger has been little too greasy. The grease factor has been better in recent visits. read more

I ordered the classic grilled chicken. I had to double check to make sure the chicken was actually on the bun. It's paper thin. The humorous part of it all is they say please wait while we make it fresh after you order. It's clear this is a frozen patty. It was so dry and thin... I will not be coming back for a while. Although the price is fine, the quality is average at best. The toppings were fresh.. if they weren't this would have been a terrible sandwich. Something needs to cover up the taste of the chicken. I'm a thin patty burger guy and this place does it right. I pretty much get the same burger with the BBQ sauce and bacon because what burger wouldn't taste good with those two ingredients! Only negatives about this place is they hold back on the amount of fries they give you and they are NOT always fresh. It's a shame because when they are cooked right they are amazing. Also the parking is shared with about five other restaurants so parking is minimal. Smash burger is definitely worth a visit! read more

Talk about terrible service. I stopped by Monday evening because my daughter wanted a chocolate shake and I heard they had Häagen-Dazs shakes. I figured I would try out their burgers as well and see if they had a kids menu for the kids. I walked in and stood there for about 2 minutes, no employee in sight. I checked their hours in my phone, open til 10...hmmm ok. A flustered employee runs out of the back and starts refilling napkins. Never even greets me but looks really annoyed to see me there. He runs back to get more napkins, and yells at someone that "we got one with 3 kids." A girl comes out and apparently tells him she is busy...also never greets me...but looks at me with terror upon the sight of my 3 kids and goes back into what I can assume is the kitchen? Totally closed off kitchen, you can't see a thing that is going on there. So the first employee gives out a sigh, fine I'll do it. I never knew having a customer in a restaurant that is not even busy (one family was eating in a booth) was such a terrible thing. At this point, I can't see the kitchen...they are obviously annoyed that I am there with 3 kids...I don't want spit in my food. So I decide not to order any food and just order the shake I promised my daughter. Now he (going to assume from the receipt his name is Aizenchoi) looks even more annoyed, probably because they have the shake stuff in the front by the register so he has to make the shake instead of just firing an order off to the hidden back kitchen. He scoops some ice-cream, attempts to put chocolate in..but I guess they are running low on chocolate because he keeps squeezing the bottle as my kids giggle at the obnoxious loud fart-like sounds that come from this almost empty bottle of chocolate he is strangling to death for what seems like 2 minutes. He adds a splash of milk and blends it up. I can tell he noticed he did not put enough in because he kept scraping down the cup repeatedly to get every drop out. The result? I paid 4 bucks for a half of a cup of a un-chocolately shake. I couldn't help but take a picture of this shake when I got home because it was so ridiculous how empty the cup looked and how this employee could care less. There was no goodbye, no have a good night...no sorry we were running low on chocolate...just gave me my half a cup of shake and went back in the back. Assuming the dome cover is for whipped cream, but he didn't bother with that either. The icing on the cake was I looked at the receipt and in the part where I assume they are supposed to ask your name for the order...it just says "Lady" because he never cared to ask my name. With a name like SMASHburger, one would expect to do just that SMASH. However, they do not provide the necessary portions to do so. When your competition is serving their customers a paper bag filled with fries, why do you only provide a handful? Overall, I wasn't entirely impressed with my experience at smashburger. Most likely I won't be going again. It didn't have much to do with the food. The food was actually pretty good. I'm not a fan of shoe string fries, but they weren't too bad. I got the Windy City with chicken. It was pretty decent. The chicken was flavorful, the additions seemed fresh, the bun was soft and warm, but it was kind of small for the price. It was delivered to me cold, though, so maybe that put a damper on everything. However, the service was horrendous and I can only blame management. I can't blame the girl at the counter. It was lunch rush and they only had one poor girl at the counter. What kind of insane person decided to make that decision? This girl was running around like a chicken with her head cut off trying to take peoples order, deliver food to tables, hand out take out orders, and clean tables. They appeared to be other people there, but the guy literally just stood against the wall watching her. I hope that wasn't anyone in management because if it was SHAME ON HIM. However, I suspect it was a guy who was delivering food. You never know, though. I ordered my food to go, so I was able to sit and watch for a minute. I really was ready to jump in and start helping her. After waiting about 30 mins they called an order ready for pickup. The girl didn't get to it until 30 mins later and (lucky me) it was my order sitting there for a half hour. I really don't blame her. I mean she is human and can only do so much. I have to say that this is one of the most ordinary burgers I have ever had. The fries were very greasy and the smash burger fries have a garlic seasoning and were also very greasy. All of the food is extremely salty. We ordered a salted caramel shake a chocolate malt and a strawberry milkshake. All of them tasted like they came out of the testing tube. We sent $50 for four people. Not pricey but not worth it for us. Nothing about the burgers are special. Nothing about the shakes are special. The customer service is below average. Decided to try it out tonight. Went in and ordered carry-out. Not busy, took about 7 minutes. Ordered a 1/2lb cheeseburger, smashfry, salad and drink. Got home with the food (I live 3 minutes away)...fries were regular not "smash, cold and what looked like the end of the bag (all about an inch long) Disgusting. Didn't add the smash sauce on the side that i asked for. The salad was good, especially if you like blue cheese. The burger was ok, nothing to write home about, but it was fresh. I find it hard to believe that this is the same Smashburger previous posters have reviewed. Been here a handful of times and it's always been a delightful experience. The staff here is so friendly, including the manager (James?), who was on hand to take our orders on a recent visit. My MIL was a newbie to the joint so he answered all of her questions. Paid $33 for three burgers, drinks, fries, and a kids meal. Everything was made to order and was brought to our table in a timely fashion. The restaurant was clean and tidy. I always order the BBQ burger and have never been disappointed. The patties are freshly made, juicy, and just the right size. They use real thick bacon, not that flimsy stuff at other fast food places. The haystack onions are tasty as are the fries. A-OK!!! I seriously shouldn't hang around my 14 yo brother when i'm trying to eat healthy because I always end up cheating and eating something greasy and delicious. Anyway, he suggested we try out this new spot Smashburger. I'm really not a burger girl, but that is quickly changing. Last week we were thrilled with Five Guys, but SMASHBURGER is so much better!! The prices are roughly the same but this place offers much more variety on the menu. I had the Classic Big Smash with bacon. I really don't know what came over me, this was a huge monstrosity of a burger with all the toppings and i finished every last bit!! The beef was cooked perfectly, juicy and well seasoned. The topping were all fresh. On the side I had the Smash fries, which were fries tossed in rosemary, olive oil and garlic - I love garlic so I was a very happy girl. My little brother had the chili cheese fries, which were good too, but I'm not a usually a fan of chili cheese fries so... The waitresses walked around with milk shake samples. I tried the vanilla, very tasty, but not much different than a mickey d's milk shake. Overall, i absolutely love this place. This definitely is one of my new summer fav's. read more

Not the best or worst burger place in town. Stopped in for lunch the other day when I was in the area. Ordered the BBQ Bacon burger and smash fries. They are tossed with seasoning and vinegar. Malt vinegar and fries is really good. These, not so much. Didn't have the vinegar bite I was hoping for. Not bad tho. Burger was pretty good. How can it not be with BBQ and bacon on it. Haggis would be tolerable with BBQ and bacon, well maybe not but you get my point...hehe. Greeted when I walked in. She took my order and said would take about 10 minutes for my order, actually took 5-6. Nice surprise. Big downer was the price.
