    Smashed Burger
    Deneen S.

Thursday 8/14/25 12:54pm Add a taste for a burger called smashed RVA asked a couple questions decided to order the plain. Jane smashed with a double patty. Paid for it over the phone picked it up. Arrived home 10 minutes later. Ready to crush! Smh very disappointed. This was my second time here. The first time I ate in house and I wasn't that impressed but it was was OK so I thought I'd give it another try. This time, you know if you know that the damn restaurant business is fucking competitive do better The first thing I noticed was the bun was extremely greasy, the top of the bun. It hardly had any lettuce on it, and the bread was soggy. Unbelievable. I really wanted to be excited about this, but the excitement is gone.. If you know that the restaurant business is competitive, do better. My current pictures are from the blue and white paper plate.

Im a burger fanatic. A good burger can go in any plans on any day for me. This place has GREAT burgers! Juicy, that perfect blend of smashed crispiness and juiciness, and the creative specialty burgers are worth a trip every time one is released. And if you're particularly greedy like me lol, you can get fries topped with all the same toppings the burger has! If you're in Richmond you better go get a burger or three or your selling yourself short! If you're not in Richmond it's worth the trip just find something else to do for the rest of the day lol

[[HIGHLIGHT]]What a great burger spot easy to get to and bright inside.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We were greeted by the staff immediately. He took the time to tell us about each burger and the difference between them all. The burgers were so well seasoned you didn't need anything but the bun. I do wish the burger bun was a little more defined. All in all this is a great spot to get a great smash burger that is prepared well and tastes delicious.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Very spacious and inviting space.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The cashier was super nice and patient. The food was pretty good. I got the beyond plant based burger with Cajun fries. The burger was a tad bit salty. The food is definitely made to order was piping hot when it came out. Our wait was not long at all. We also got a chopped cheese and it was skimpy for lack of a better word. I forgot to take pictures of the food . We paid $40 for the double plant based burger, an order of fries, skinny chopped cheese and 2 bottled drinks. Oh and by the way they only sell bottled or canned drinks and beer.

Was really hyped to try this place after i've seen all the raving reviews. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place is pretty spacious, lots of seating available.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] My boyfriend and I ordered the plain jane smash, mac smash, and some fries. Not sure why but it took a bit of time to come out. Unfortunately, I didn't really love either burger. The fries and burgers were both average in my opinion. I think I ordered cajun fries and it tasted like they just threw old bay on it. I was really disappointed because I've heard such good things about this place. I think RVA has some amazing burger spots which set the bar pretty high (beauvine & jack brown). Overall, my experience was just okay. I don't think i'd be back but definitely would recommend to give it a try for yourself!

Environment was friendly and very inviting. Staff was friendly and attentive. First time visitor with the family, overall the meal was good but we the burger was over salted to our tasting. (note: my family and I don't ever agree on salt tasting but all felt it was over salted). The Baja Limeade was - loved it. We made a special deviation to check this place out and believe we will give it another try when we're back in that area.

I was soooo excited to come try the smash burgers at Smashed RVA... the pictures and reviews absolutely seemed amazing! But... and it's a big big but... I cannot lie. The patties are way way way too salty! If the patties weren't salted so heavily, it would be one of the best burgers I've had... it almost makes me want to drop it to a 3 star review... But I love everything about this place from decoration, ambiance, the bun, shredded lettuce, and fries. The staff are friendly and helpful and everything else is perfect. I really do hope that it was just a one off... that there was an accident w the salt shaker.

Ever since their pop-up days, Smashed has been a delightful dining experience. Their brick-and-mortar location follows suit. I've had several of their offerings, but the chopped cheese and the Mac Smash with a single patty (add bacon) are my favorites. Their fries are tasty too, with just a slight kick to them. They pair well with their ranch sauce. Service has been consistently friendly and prompt as well. Their new space is a great size, clean, and matches their brand well. I don't have even the slightest of a critique -- they are fantastic all around and serve up some of the best burgers in Richmond for sure.

Updating my review... I originally docked a star due to the price, but I'd rather spend my money here at a local business than somewhere like Five Guys whose prices vary based on the neighborhood (you can guess which types of neighborhoods get the higher prices). And I can't say it's not worth the price because my goodness, the burgers and fries are so damn good. Besides, the owner Michael is incredibly kind and helpful, and you can tell he really cares about his business. I watched him promptly wipe down the table every time people finished dining and left while manning the register and serving the orders when ready.

I'm not really a burger person but I did enjoy the bbq burger here! (Looks kinda crazy in my pic but i promise it was awesome) It was perfect, not too salty and not too sweet from the bbq. The patty was even a bit crispy on the outside and held juicy flavour on the inside! If i do crave a burger i usually go to beauvine. This place was a pleasant surprised and had amazing service! They also had the bottled root beer by barqs as a choice which i don't see too often. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I love the theme and the little merch they sell too![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The yellow designs make it such a nice atmosphere![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I would definitely go again even if it was just to pick up food!

This was good. We had somewhat of a Phili. Hease steak. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restraint was comfortable with nice seats.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The service was good and quick.

How could you not love this place?! The location is SO convenient to my apartment, which makes it my guilty pleasure whenever I am driving home and craving a bite. The Mac Smash is just as scrumptious as it looks - the patty is just the right amount of char and whatever the heck is in that Mac Sauce is downright addicting. Worth every penny - and so quick to be ready when you order. Everytime I've eaten here, I've taken to go - but [[HIGHLIGHT]]the inside is so modern and sleek-looking... like a cooler steak and shake.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] One of the few places in Richmond I have consistently gone to thus far as a new resident and love it everytime.

Not much flavor. Kids chicken strips were a chicken patty that was overcooked and cut up. Also came out lukewarm at best. The Rueben was soggy and had about three slices of meat on it. Very little sauce on the sandwich no and was charged for extra when I asked for more. Added the Parmesan truffle fries which were powered Parmesan with some truffle oil sprinkled on top. Again all lukewarm. The Timberwolf burger had maybe two jalapeño's on it and the onions were burnt. The regular burgers and kids are the same size. Housemade pickles were soggy and the cucumber skins were tough. The quality of food from when we had eaten here a couple years ago was subpar in comparison. If you are going to charge for upscale items then they need to be upscale in the quality of what you are serving. Will not be back.

Parking in the area is a little difficult and Sunday at lunch is no different. We were able to find street parking a few blocks down and were happy to enjoy the Spring weather. The menu has so many tempting options that it was hard to choose, but we both landed on the Hot Chicken Sandwich with cayenne butter--and we're glad we did. It had the perfect amount of heat: enough to bring some spice without overpowering the flavor. On the side, I ordered the green beans after our bartender/server highly recommended them. Normally, green beans wouldn't be my first choice, but they were seasoned perfectly and ended up being one of the biggest surprises of the meal. My partner chose the mac and cheese, which was the superior side (although both were excellent). The service was friendly, attentive, and genuine throughout the evening. Despite arriving on a Friday night without a reservation, we had no trouble getting a table. They only accept reservations for parties of 5-8, so I'm glad we decided to take our chances. One of my favorite parts of the evening was chatting with another guest at the bar. He and his wife shared several entrées with their young son, and they couldn't stop raving about the short ribs--which their son happily claimed for himself by the end of the meal! They also highly recommended the salmon, so we've already got ideas for our next visit. The only real downside has nothing to do with the restaurant itself: parking in Scott's Addition can be a challenge. I'd recommend allowing yourself some extra time to find a spot or, even better, taking a rideshare so you can start enjoying your evening right away. Lunch. Supper! has earned its reputation as a longtime Richmond favorite. Great food, excellent service, and a relaxed atmosphere make this an easy five-star recommendation. We'll definitely be back.
