    Phenomenal burger!
    Keith C.

The burgers are phenomenal! I've never heard of the place until a friend of mine that lives in Hopewell mentioned it. It looks like they have other great food there as well but for my first time here I had the Barry Burger, which is the biggest patty you can get cooked medium well with anything you want on it or get it fully loaded with bacon, etc.. Its worth the trip down to this place. Great service and friendly staff.

Open mic nights every once in a while at Carr Brothers!

Dirty, poor service. I will never go back. Hands down the worst place to eat. The price for the food was way to much

It is spacious with lots of natural light (if you eat during the day). We ended up being one of two tables because we came at an odd time. There was only one person working front of house, Melissa, and it looked like she was bartender, hostess and server while we were there. Despite that she did a great job. She was gracious, attentive and even pulled out my chair for me. She knew about the building's history and seemed to take genuine pride. So if that is an indication of what the service is like all the time then A++. Food was decent, not mind-blowing. But I thought the quality was there. Ingredients were fresh. Prices were high end for the area but reasonable for the preparation and presentation. Food was well prepared. My only real complaint is my fried okra kept sliding out of its batter. When we went, only the bar area was open, but there were tables in that section and we were able to sit comfortably as a family of four. Our waitress was really sweet and personable, which always makes a difference--especially when you're traveling with kids. The food was delicious. I ordered the smash burger, my husband had the salmon, and both were excellent. The kids ordered from the kids' menu--chicken tenders and a burger--and everything came with fries. We also ordered the sweet potato fries and those were a standout--definitely recommend them. Overall, it was a great stop during our trip with good food, friendly service, and a relaxed atmosphere. We really enjoyed our experience at Shirley's.

Here is the combined, high-energy review that shows your deep love for the spot: **Rating: (5/5)** ### The Milk & Honey Phenomenon: My Official Hampton Favorite I came in with the mission to try everything on the menu, but I'm going to be honest--I'm already hopelessly stuck on my favorites! This place has officially become my #1 spot in Hampton. It doesn't matter what day of the week it is, the consistency, the 10-star decor, and the "royal" atmosphere always deliver. ** The Vibe & The Art** The atmosphere is like a high-end nightclub lounge meets a classy art gallery. Surrounded by phenomenal **Artbae** portraits of legends like **Prince, Duke Ellington, and Sammy Davis Jr.**, you just find your "lucky table" and soak it all in. It's the best seat in the city, period. ** Top-Shelf Service & The "Rewards Fumble"** The service is unmatched. **Taj** behind the bar is a master of the craft, staying in perfect stride with a buzzing Friday crowd while keeping things personable. **Pro Tip:** Don't be like me--**get your rewards points!** I have missed my "coins" the last couple of times I came because the second that food hits the table, it is so succulent and ready to be devoured that points are the *last* thing on my mind. Put your phone number in the system before you pull that door to leave! ** The Sweet Potato Revelation: Butter Glazed Biscuits** The **Butter Glazed Biscuits** are a life-altering event. Cinnamon-infused biscuits with a **sweet potato crumble and sweet potato butter**, plus that phenomenal cinnamon jam... it's a decadent masterpiece. It feels like a high-end cake met a breakfast pancake. ** The Battle of the Cajun Pasta** The **Cajun Pasta with Shrimp and Crab** is a heavyweight battle. * **The Succulent Giants:** Huge, juicy shrimp and a portion of crab meat so generous it's a struggle to finish. * **The Heat:** That perfect, "oily" spicy kick that keeps you twirling your fork even when your mouth is on fire. ** The Verdict: Phenomenal Value** You get 10-star quality and legendary vibes at a **phenomenal and reasonable price**. Whether you're finishing your plate or taking home a trophy bag of **Honey Bay Wings**, you're leaving happy. **Milk & Honey is the crown jewel of Hampton. Worth the trip, worth the wait, and absolutely worth the burn. 10/10.** *Love the art? There is a pretty small public parking lot directly across the street, and it was full, so I'm not 100% sure if we parked in the public parking or the parking lot of the glass shop next-door since there weren't really any signs. I really hate parking in the middle of any town, but it wasn't too bad. But I'm still not sure if we could've gotten a ticket or not. You seat yourself in this really awesome classic rock themed restaurant. The decor is great, a perfect mix of interesting things to look at, without being super claustrophobic-ly overwhelming. It is really cute. We took a minute to look over the menu, and decided on the house cut chips appetizer, and both a beef and chicken Shawarma for us to try both. The beef Shawarma was delicious. I really like the seasoning that they use on their meat or sauce or something. I never could place what it was or where it was, but the flavor is just heavenly. A little sweet, a little savory and delicious. The fresh pickled veggies were also amazing. They were still crisp with that snap that you really want with pickled foods. Chicken Shawarma was definitely my favorite since it had slightly different pickled vegetables. They were both good, but the chicken was definitely my favorite by just a touch. The bread was a little hard and chewy for my likings, it definitely stood up to the creamy sauce and the juicy pickled vegetables, but it almost hurt my teeth if you just had a dry spot that hadn't been soaking in some form of liquid. The house cut chips are just OK, nothing special by themselves, but that trio of dipping sauces was amazing. We were dipping our fries into it because we liked those a little better than the chips, but we ate almost every drop of that sauce trying to figure out which one was our favorite. one of the hot sauces is blueberry and very sweet with a mild spice, one is I think mango and not spicy initially, but when you swallowed, you definitely felt it burn in the back of your throat. It was a nice sneaky heat, which I love. And the third dipping sauce, we could not place, but we literally could not figure out which one we loved the most. They have a patio outside with lots of tables, but we did not go out there. It looks cute in the pictures though. The downside, is that while the service was very great, if you catch them out a bad time, they don't yet seem to be able to handle huge amounts of orders. They've only been open for about two months, I think, so that will come in time. It seems that they only have one guy cooking in the back, so we were unluckily there at the same time as a table of eight people. If we had all the time in the world, I could have sat and stared at the decor for ages. But unfortunately, if you are on a lunch break or have to be somewhere, they could potentially be so backed up it takes quite a while to actually get your food. It was a rare and random set of circumstances, and probably does not happen often, and she generously comped our chips which was not necessary but was very appreciated. The service here is absolutely top-notch. We will definitely be back for more of that delicious Shawarma. Definitely earlier in the day though, so we can sit as long as we want.

I found the chicken pita/wrap dry and bland. The burger way too large, overcooked and dry. I'll admit, I'm a saucy person and like lots of flavors and textures, which I didn't find in my couple of visits. The fried cauliflower was tasty, but wish the pitas accompanying them were warm, or at least not cold.
