I am sharing my experience to strongly warn others against visiting this practice. My visit was unacceptable on multiple levels: Severe Safety & Consent Violation: Despite my intake paperwork explicitly stating that I have epilepsy, the practitioner hooked the acupuncture needles up to electrical stimulation (TENS unit) without my knowledge, consent, or request. Doing this to an epileptic patient is extremely dangerous and left me bedridden on the verge of a seizure. Patient safety and informed consent were completely ignored. Fraudulent Billing: I was billed for multiple services that were never discussed or provided. This included charges for massages, therapeutic exercises, infrared therapy, an additional 15 minutes of acupuncture, and a $200 intake fee for a single, standard session that did nothing. Unsanitary & Unprofessional Environment: The office smells gross, there are flies, and the facility is poorly maintained. Walking into such an unclean space should have been my first warning sign. On top of that, the owner is extremely rude and dismissive. I chose this location for convenience due to my driving restrictions with my condition, but it turned out to be a nightmare. The acupuncturist is Asian and has his credentials on his wall, so I felt like he would know what he is doing. I came here because my knee had been hurting for over 2 months after sitting in a middle seat during a 12+ hour plane ride where I felt like I messed up a nerve or alignment somewhere. After trying a chiropractor, doing exercises through physical therapy and massage, I decided to try acupuncture. At this place, he first does about a 10 minute cupping session, then a 10 minute heating pad, then a 10 minute acupuncture then about a 5 minute massage. I walked into the exam room and everything was old - used needles on the floor and tons in a plastic open container. At that point I walked out. The first time I walked in and met Dr Koo was when I brought my mother for acupuncture treatment for her sciatic nerve. After only two treatments my mother significantly noticed her pain had decrease and continued with a few more treatments. During that time I had been diagnosed with anxiety and depression and was experiencing intense anxiety, panic attacks and insomnia. I did not want to go under any medication. I asked Dr Koo if he could help me and he kindly assured me that he would. We sat down and we talked a lot and he listened and answered all my questions and concerns. I started with two treatments once a week which included acupressure cupping, hot pad, acupuncture and an amazing relaxing massage and herbs for calming down. As time went by I noticed that everything was helping and had more peace at mind and continued with more treatments and herbs for anxiety and insomnia.
