This place is rude disrespectful. I had an appointment at 3:30pm didn't get seated down until 5:00pm. I came here to get my wisdom teeth, pulled out my insurance covered everything. She wanted me to get a collision plug it costed $500 bucks I told her no I just wanna get my wisdom teeth pulled out and that's it. So after I told her, no, she do not want to do the procedure. I told her you gave me an option and I said no. I have all the rights to say yes or no. Especially the (Laser Dental Center) Oral Surgery Dental Specialty next door located at 219-13 Linden Blvd., Cambria Heights, NY 11411 where this practice directed us. The five star reviews are as fake and sketchy as the two guys working there. The employees kept walking in and out of both locations. Went to this place yesterday 4/25/25. No receptionist at all; first red flag; I should have left then. Sat in the waiting room past my appointment time and nobody seem to care. ABSOLUTELY horrible practice!! DO NOT GO HERE (219-11 Linden Blvd., Cambria Heights, NY ) . Sent us to Laser Dental Center next door, but the appointment was made with Smile Crafters. This is who is listed as in-network on the insurance plan. They are as low down grimy as they come. I wouldn't even take my dog here let alone a human being. They just want your money...look at their reviews! This place should be shutdown truthfully. They are 100% scammers. $20,000 for a simple extraction?! No way they're legitimate oral surgeons; more like snake oil salesman. Preying on patients that have real emergencies. Refused to do the extraction without agreeing to a $20k bill on future work with them. How is this even ethical? Left the infection in my kid's mouth and didn't extract anything despite telling us the insurance covers the extraction. He really wanted $20,000 from us. ** Beware** This office is a scam. They claim to take insurance but insist on adding additional methods which are not covered by insurance and are not optional for the patient. For example, I was referred by the Smile Crafters office in St Albans to have an extraction in Cambria Heights. I came in to have one premolar removed. I did discuss using bone graft with the original office but no one in Cambria Heights discussed the medical plan with me. I arrived at 4:32pm for my 4:30 appointment. I waited in a room from 5pm until almost 7pm. I understand, things happen. I really just wanted to get my tooth removed and the bone graft placed. Once the dentist moved me to the room he actually performs procedures in, he told his biller to speak to me. She informed me the bone graft would be $1000. Why, IDK since I have insurance. I said okay so just remove the tooth. She said they could place a plug instead, for $500. I explained I've had teeth removed before and never had this issue. She said this is simply how their dentist prefers to do things. There was no mention of a medical requirement for me to pay out of pocket for their method of doing things. They didn't say I had bone loss - which is not normal for ONE TOOTH. You do not need a plug or a bone graft for ONE TOOTH unless you are planning for implantation. Someone should have discussed this ridiculous policy with me when I arrived for my appointment. Someone should have explained the medical necessity - of which there isn't one. This practice deserves minus stars. My mother-in-law went there in December for a crack tooth. 3 months later she left with 2 root canals, months of pain, and eventually 2 teeth extracted. They take advantage of desperate people in the neighborhood...elderly, people in pain or people that don't know they are being taken advantage of . Even though they told her they accepted her insurance, conveniently they found something wrong with her tooth that wasn't covered by her insurance. They then told her of a company that she could take out a loan for $6000 to cover the work that "needed" to be done. The "office manager" Dimitri is a smooth talker and gets people to believe he is trying to help them. I got to know him after my mother-in-law kept complaining of pain and more and more work being done. I think the dentist messed up which caused 2 teeth to be removed. Once I started going with her they got scared because I was asking the right questions. They did give her back some money since they didn't do the original work of giving her a crown. I made an appointment specifically for new dentures, recommend from the providers list, I called they said they do and they accept my insurance for dentures. I made an appointment for 10 a.m. and filled out the online forms days before and when inside I waited for 1 hour to be X-rayed and the tech person asked me if I wanted to do implants and I said who's paying for it ? He said I am, so I said no thanks. and then another hour to be seen by a doctor (but) they also asked me if I wanted to do an implant (same scenario same answer) and I waited to be called to the front desk and then he asked the same question (do you want to do implants ? I said who's paying for it ? He said (I am) I said no thank you. So he looked at his screen and said (we don't accept your insurance for dentures, so if you want you'll have to pay for it. I left at 12 p.m. 2 hours of wasted time. So the question is (why didn't they know that from the beginning when taking my id and insurance card? I've read reviews here before and don't believe it. This place, Smile Crafters in Cambria Heights, is a scam practicing unethical business practices. The dentist tells you what work you need and "the money guy" comess to tell you the cost. This guy from the specialists office next door tells you the work you need isn't covered by your insurance and proceeds to try and convince you to enter a financing option before leaving the office. This is because 1 or more of the services they say you need may actually be covered by your insurance and they don't want you to find that out before signing for financing. At leaat 3 things off the $23,000 total they gave me are actually covered. I was not offered a referral to someone who would take my insurance until I called to inform that my insurance actually covers some of the services needed. They just said their in house specialist doesn't take it, and they could refer me to someone, but its a bit far. Its a hassle to make the referral to someone I would choose. My major issue is that even though the other specialist is in another borough, I was never offered the option to not pay out of pocket until I called to complain. Another patient came in complaining that his dentures are covered by his insurance, and he was informed that they specifically don't take insurance for dentures. He was mad because he was offered financing in house as well, but not informed he could go elsewhere that would take his insurance. That was the same thing done to me. So the specialist next door to them is profiting off of the omission of information to their patients. I've been informed that the specialist next door is also part of Smile Crafters. I told the receptionist that her complacency to the scam is just as bad as committing it herself. Day in and day out you guys direct the financing complaints next door knowing it's wrong, because I know they had to have studied ethics. They are shaking hands with the specialist and everyone gets paid big cash and not the lower insurance rates. It is definitely an issue of ethics. Update... I called to inquire as to why I needed to see a specialist when root canals are usually done by a general dentist, and was mine a special case. I was informed that I needed to see an endodontist for my root canals and that it wasn't covered by my insurance. They once again tried to shuffle me over to Dimitri to get me financed, and I ended the call. A quick call to my insurance informed me otherwise. My experience with Dr. Sima is that she did not properly inform me of my condition, I went to another doctor and discovered this. She flat out told me "no" and "maybe" regarding certain diagnosis. It's either yes or no, so I was not properly informed nor given concrete information about my dental health. I got the impression that she was scared to do dentistry or even touch my mouth. The cleaning I got was fine, but this is not the place to go if you want to actually know about the health of your mouth they will give false information which may delay you getting the help you need and make your situation worse. Additionally, I saw another worker snickering as I came to the front as if she wanted to get my attention. The "manager" is not informing you of any options and not on the same accord with the dentist who did not tell me anything to begin with; will not waste his time to share things with you if he prejudges that you will not be able to pay or afford and dodges questions in a very sneaky way and frustrating way as well. The receptionist that was there screamed the dob of an older woman in a non discreet manner as if she were hard of hearing. I really wanted to like this place, but was unsure of demeanor of the dentist, manager, and people who work there until the last visit so I plan not to return. I did get a good female tech and cleaner but the rest need much training and maybe should try to change careers. If dentistry were the hopes and dreams of Daddy and not your own, then leave because the lack of care and basic knowledge is showing through. For starters, customer service is great. The receptionist was very polite. My first time visiting the office. my appointment was for 2:30, i arrived a little after 2pm, filled out my paperwork and was sent to take xrays before 2:30. So there was generally no wait time. The woman that took my xrays, the dentist who did my consultation and also the dental assistant who did my cleaning were all extremally professional and all did an amazing job. HOWEVER when it came time to discuss payment options, whatever little man they sent into the room was VERY rude and insensitive. Without properly inquiring, i was told that my insurance would not cover 99% percent of the work i needed. He made several attempts to pressure me into financing/ taking out a loan... I literally had to shut him down, respectfully. If you decide to go to this office, know your rights/ coverage. For anyone thinking about coming here for dental procedures...DON'T. I'm convinced that this establishment is solely about the cash and not at all about the patients or giving proper dental care. I came here in late March to get a checkup and cleaning as my previous dentist retired. This place took my insurance, and we set it all up. The first red flag was someone calling me to confirm the appointment, which I missed. I called back and got the answering machine. Called early the next morning to confirm, the person who picked up didn't hear me for some reason and decided to hang up. I called back and got that same person who had a serious attitude in her voice, displaying a severe lack of customer service. Get to the appointment, I speak to the person I had made the appointment with first. I fill out the forms and I note that there's a long list of procedures that they want you to sign in agreement to. I have NEVER seen that before with any dentistry office. As I'm waiting, I overhear the manager tell some woman that she has to have TWENTY crowns. At $1,000 a pop. They also tell her she has to get a nightguard. The same manager Dimitri tells someone else that before they get seen they owe 3K. So of course I'm slightly on edge. I get called to the back and immediately I note that there are dividing walls in between each station but NO doors. I get my X-Rays done, and the tech was nice. I am directed to a station and I get seated. I wind up having the cleaning done by another dental tech, but its almost like they're rushing through the cleaning. I would learn why when she told me she was bringing in the hygenist. Another red flag. The hygenist comes in, tells me everything looks fine and I have no cavities but my gums were inflamed. He assesses that it is due to medication. He goes, "let me get the manager." WTF?? The manager?? After 5 minutes, the "manager" comes in and tells me that due to my gums being "severely inflamed" (which is an exaggeration of what the hygenist told me), that I needed a procedure where they'd cut my gums to prevent their growth. The catch? My insurance wouldn't cover it. Which is what I knew the whole visit was coming to - a money grab. I tell Dimitri flatly that I have never heard of that procedure and it certainly wasn't ever recommended by my former dentist. I told him I will get a second opinion and the jerk turned his back on me rudely. I grabbed my stuff and walked straight out. I haven't even received a phone call about a follow-up since then. And I NEVER SAW A DENTIST. Bottom line? This place is crooked, and I feel that they're pointedly preying on folks in the community to take their money through procedures they don't need or don't even execute properly. We're still in a pandemic and you don't even have closed office space? The staff (save for the one receptionist who helped me and the X-ray tech) seemed abrupt and acted as if it was a bother to treat me. And that office manager is an absolute slimeball who treats everyone like he's making a Forex sale. I plan to report this place to my local government representatives and the city's Department of Health as well as the Better Business Bureau because they're out here taking advantage of people and need to be shut down before someone loses their life as a result of their malpractice. read more

My husband that is disabled, had an appointment at Smile Crafters for the first time. He received a lot of X-rays and was then told that he needed a root canal and extensive cleaning, blah, blah, blah. Fine, then we heard his insurance doesn't cover what he needs to be done. Some laser stuff, root canal and some other things I wasn't quite sure of everything. Then he says your husbands insurance doesn't cover it you have to pay out of pocket. He says $6300. I say to him, we are seniors on a fixed income, then he informs us about a finance plan. We left. This gentleman was a fast talker and so I knew this had to be all about money, especially with all this high tech equipment he was talking about. A few days later we get a letter from my husbands insurance saying it is covered. We make an appointment and the dental office agreed that the procedure was covered. Then the office cancels the appointment because the person that does root canal isn't in. We receive another appointment and we are told everything isn't covered after we get there you still have to pay out of pocket. This is unfair to a disabled person that can hardly walk, uses access-a-ride to get around and can get penalized for last minute cancellation from access a ride and not to mention a waste of time because we weren't informed you still have to come out of pocket. I recently took my elderly mom to the Far Rockaway Location on Feb 5th. Since then, we were told we needed insurance approval for any further work but since then no one picks up a phone or returns a message, email etc. Dr Andrew Willner was the DDS but who knows how good he is if the office can't even function at a minimal level. I suspect it was forms I refused to sign which had all sorts of procedures to approve for payment. But , why sign something before a consultation. That seemed backwards to me and scammish. If I can give 0 stars, I WILL! This dentist was also caught using someone else's phone to post up reviews via them without their permission. He posts fake reviews of his place. They removed from my mouth the bridge and crowns that were over my teeth, charged me for a new bridge and crowns, and put right back in the same and old bridge and crowns over my teeth. They pushed this loan service on me so that I am now paying high interest rates for the SAME teeth they put right back in my mouth. When you ask for proof that it's truly new teeth they're putting in your mouth, they can't provide the proof. The lady at the front is rude. They leave early when they feel like it. The dentists are rude and walk right past you. When you come in, most of the time no person is at the front desk. You end up waiting more than 10 minutes while no person greets you. There are no business cards at the front. The whole place seems extremely shady. When you ask for the lab they use to create the crowns and bridge etc, they can't tell you. When you ask for last names of the people working, they can't tell you. There are so many other dentist facilities to use and I made the mistake of using this one. SMILE CRAFTERS 219-11 Linden Blvd Cambria Heights New York On august 14,2023 I called the Dentist office to get an appointment I was asked what insurance I have I told the lady Emblem through 1199 she gave me appointment for august 15 at 4:15 p.m when I got there she gave me paperwork to fill out after filling I have to her she asked me for my insurance card and my drivers license, I handed to her she made copy and gave back to me, shortly a man called me in and asked what was my visit for I told him one tooth at the bottom I was eating a jolly rancher candy and it chip my tooth and the tooth was hurting, he then send me to a room for x-rays after the x-ray I went to another room two man came in I assumed one was the dentist he said to me you are missing tooth and there's one tooth on top need to be extracted I told him I'm not going to do any extraction I'm not having any problems with my tooth on top only the bottom that the candy damage, he said there's another one at the bottom that had fillings need to fix then came a man who is the office Manager name Demetrius saying the tooth on top need to be extracted, I need a complete upper, and lower Denture and dental implants I said to him my insurance will not cover implants he said to me I have to extract my tooth on top I said no I cannot go to work without denture if I took my tooth out he left the room for a while and came back and told me to sign a paper I was approved for $13,000 I said to him my husband just died, I would have to discuss with my children first I will come back the following day he said is my mouth not my children mouth I said I know but I have to discuss with them I ask one of the other guy what about the tooth that's bothering me he said he's going to fix it sooner he numb my mouth and say there's temporary crown on two tooth at the bottom I said to him please reverse the care credit then he told me he don't accept my insurance because they doesn't pay I said you didn't tel me that please cancel the care credit he said he's trying to reverse it but was not going through it was too early he will do the next day which was August 16, on August 17th one of the temporary crowns came out and I chewed the other one I went to him the same evening after work and told him what happened he told me it will be fixed I said to him did you cancel the care credit he said he will do it I was very upset and I ask him to give me the invoice of what he charge me for I told him I will not come back to your office he is a thief he take advantage of me I told him to cancel the permanent crown since August 17th and I want a copy of the invoice he was very upset he print seven pages and handed them to me I walked out of his office. When I get home in my driveway I was looking at what the charges were and I see where he send prescription to pharmacy for me that's not true, during the seven pages I realize he gave me someone else's paperwork with all their personal information, I called the office for him he didn't respond I took the paperwork to him still asking for my invoice as of yet he didn't give to me I received a bill from care credit for $7,000 that he submitted. The manager is a scammer he tells you that your insurance doesn't cover anything without consulting your insurance company first. Runs your credit and try to force you into a financial plan that you can't afford. The dentist does 2 minutes check up and leave to the next patient. Things that my insurance did cover they didn't bother to complete. I would not recommend this dentist to anyone. read more

Dentist location - Murdock and 201st Street. Beware and don't ask questions. they had me wait for a month for a root canal procedure. They are very deceptive in providing clear information. I asked if they were in-network but they billed my insurance out 0f network. After they encouraged me to open a Care Credit card before they would start the root canal the nightmare begins. The assistant refuses to give me a new sterile tray after I clearly saw her coming in and out the room and touching non sterile surfaces. This was not going to end well. The dentist who did the root canal left sharp edges from the tooth that cut up my tongue and inside my cheek. The nightmare continues. Everyone was unprofessional. The receptionist sits in the dark empty office and doesn't answer the phone. I heard the dentist clearly say that she didn't care if the patient is waiting. The nightmare has not ended. I'm about to take legal action against Smile Crafters. Dimitri, the manager quoted me a price for implants and a root canal. I cancelled the appointments prior to the date and Dimitri told me that he would submit a cancellation notice to Care Credit and the money would be sent back to me. Recently, I received notice from Care Credit that I have an upcoming payment so I called them to figure out what's going on. The Care Credit representative told me that there was no cancellation request submitted by Smile Crafters. I've been trying to contact Smile Crafters but every time I call he's busy or the front desk doesn't pick up. I went to another dentist for a second opinion and I didn't even need a root canal and there's no immediate need for implants either. I would also like to bring up how I had to switch buildings in the middle of my appointment which is really unpleasant and uncomfortable. The staff is also constantly on their phones in the middle of the appointment. They claim they call the insurance company to check for coverage but they don't. I wouldn't recommend coming to this place. The doctor needs to fire and rehire fresh people who are looking to actually help not harm. read more

The "procedures" or "treatments" are practices that other dental surgeons state are not necessary or they've never heard of. They are taking advantage of the community and are preying on them. The manager, Demetri is rude and unprofessional. The rooms are divided by a thin wall! A wall! You can walk pass and view other people getting work done. A shame. A disgrace. I had a more detailed review, but I ran out of space. Long story short, Dr. Bryan Kim at St. Albans Dental jacked up my tooth extraction that the oral surgeon later said he should've never tried to do since the tooth had had a root canal. They sent me to their partner oral surgery office Smile Crafters (at 219-11 & 219-13 Linden Blvd in Cambria Heights, Queens) to have the tooth extracted "properly". After spending $1500, dealing with 3 1/2 months of pain, two visits to urgent care to treat an infection at the extraction site, a piece of bone started to protrude from the side of my gums at the extraction site. Two days later, I spit out a sharp and jagged bone/tooth fragment. Apparently, that was what was causing me pain and the infection because my mouth immediately felt better and was pain-free. I'm not sure if Dr. Kim or the second dentist caused it, but they missed it during the extraction and during my follow-up 3 months later, and caused me 3 1/2 months of unnecessary pain and worry. Needless to say, I'm not going back to either office and I wouldn't recommend them. read more

This is by far one of the worst establishments. The lack of respect they have for paying clients is appalling. Unfortunately, I recommended this place for my mother to have dental work done based on a few good reviews of a dentist who works here. BIG MISTAKE. The staff has abused DOH COVID safety guidelines in ways including trying to verbally coerce my mother to come in even though she had a bad cough (thankfully she did not have COVID- but they did not know that). The pressure they applied was so insistent that someone else had to take the phone from her and tell them, bottom line she isn't coming in. They seemed to retaliate my mom having to postpone an appointment due to being sick by making her wait over 1.5hours EACH time she visited subsequently. EACH TIME they string her along. She voices her concern after an hour, they place her in a room to appease her, they then make her wait AT LEAST another 30 minutes! And when she says she's leaving they always tell her the same thing: "someone's on the way right now". This is BEYOND frustrating bc her procedures are already paid for so it would be a huge waste of money not to return. RUN AWAY, don't walk away from this establishment. They have no respect, will make you waste your day, all for - what so far seems to be - mediocre dental work. Bottom line- do not waste your money or time here. Dishonest place that will tell you one thing then do another. Went there to have approved work that was covered by my insurance only to have the wrong dentist listed on the documents submitted to my insurance. Call numerous times only to have the receptionist be rude and deceptive claiming either the office manager DEMETRIUS was either not there or will not discuss there error over the telephone. Eventually I was able to speak to him directly only to have him lie to me claiming to have submitted the correct info to the insurance company but once again this was a lie....STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!! read more
