I had a great experience here. My appointment was for noon. I got my X-Ray done around 12:05, and was called back to see Dr. Dana by 12:15. The staff were friendly and timely, which I always appreciate. This was my first time here, and Dr. Dana was amazing. She told me that I needed an extraction done because two of my teeth were so close together that it made it hard to maintain the one that was actually of use in my mouth. I asked her if she could extract it that day and she said she could. She numbed my mouth and began the process. It took a while and needless to say, that process was painful, but she got it out and I was happy she did. She also gave me a couple fillings, as well as a cleaning. I was out before 1pm. This office is listed with my health insurance. Unfortunately, my insurance is not enough for them. They would not see me unless I signed a separate financial agreement to pay a hefty 18% APR on any balances. So apparently the sky's the limit and the patient is left holding the bag. (Never mind that my visit for the day was just a first exam, fully covered.) I refused to sign a separate financial agreement beyond my insurance, and they refused to see me. read more

My insurance booked my appointment for a tooth extraction today 4/29/21 at 12pm. I have a complaint with the female Asian Dentist. I don't know her name but my prescription is filled by " Hubscher, Shaul". ALL of the Yelp Reviews...are accurate. This woman will start drilling holes into your mouth and try not to finish the procedure... Iwas there from 12pm to 3pm she literally told me she was going to refer me to an "Oral Surgeon" because she couldn't take out the rest of my tooth that was impacted. FALSE!! After bitching to her and getting upset. She unwillingly took out the rest of the tooth with NO PROBLEM. She has a lil passive aggressive attitude if you speak up for yourself... but my biggest problem is that she asked if I'm currently prescribed medication. I brought my meds with me and showed her the bottle. SHE TOOK THE MEDICATION I BROUGHT FROM MY PURSE. SPILLED ALL 30 PILLS INTO THE PALM OF HER BARE HAND. PUT IT BACK IN MY PILL BOTTLE. & told me to finish the rest of the supply. That's nasty asf!!!!! It's COVID 19... THIS DENTIST lacks professionalism & cleanliness. I MADE HER WRITE ME A NEW PRESCRIPTION. My experience today was honestly Annoying. I felt like she kept trying me and wasn't nice at all. But I'll see you on Tuesday for a follow up. Coming from a family of dentists I'm used to having my generally horrible teeth (genetics? Bad luck? Who knows) being cared for by people I've known my entire life. Having to find a new dentist in NYC was very daunting, and I've called and combed through so many dental offices. Many offices don't accept many insurance plans or new patients. I was in and out quickly for a routine cleaning (with 2 baby cavities found! :'/) I didn't catch her name but she was younger. Doesn't deserve one star. The worst experience I've ever had at a dental office. I felt like I was on a SNL skit. Now I understand the common fear people have of going to the dentist. In the beginning, the dentist used water to spray my mouth and got it all over my face, bib, and arms. He didn't say a thing. I had to ask for a moment to wipe myself. If that wasn't enough, he did it again with no apology. In addition to the cleaning, I had asked if it would be possible for him to repair the bonding that I had done a few years ago on my front two teeth that had started to wear away (I had originally chipped them). He tested my teeth for sensitivity and proceeded to perform the bonding procedure. He started with a few teeth on the left side of my mouth; he didn't touch my front two teeth. Once he completed that side, he told me that I would have to come back for the right side. I left confused with the job half-done. Several hours later, the bonding was a jagged texture, causing my inner lips to bleed. It was a holiday weekend and his office wasn't going to be open again for another four days. I had no choice but to use a glass nail file on my teeth- that's how much pain and discomfort I was in. By doing so, I fixed the problem myself. I decided to schedule a second and final visit to finish the job before finding a new dentist. In the beginning of our second visit, I told him about what I had experienced once I got back from my original appointment. He replied, "You should have come back." I said it was impossible because his office was closed for several days after and the pain and discomfort was far too great to wait. He actually told me that another patient had to use a nail file recently as well. The fact that another patient had to use a nail file on their own teeth for the same reason is unacceptable. It indicates that something is wrong with the dental CARE. Again, I was sprayed with the water and had to ask for a paper towel to wipe myself off. If that wasn't enough, the product that he used on my teeth prior to bonding, dripped onto my bottom lip and chin. It severely burned! I immediately told him that area was burning and that I needed something to wipe it with quickly, to which he replied, "How did that happen?" to which I wanted scream, "I don't know?! Who's holding the liquid that burned me!?" It was excruciating and I felt helpless in the chair. The skin burned off my lower lip and my chin- I had a scab after! Fast-forward 1-2 months later, the bonding has completely chipped off even though I do not use my front teeth to chew. THIS WHOLE EXPERIENCE WAS NOT WORTH IT! I'm back at square one with my front two teeth. I will never come back to this office. I don't know how this man stays in business. He is extremely messy and unprofessional. read more

office experience was good at first, until the office realize what type of dental insurance I had which only paid 80 percent of cost, so I was giving an referral to Endodontist, to my surprise I was also in need of root canal which i was never informed by Doctor Li at NYC Dental Center at 216 East 39th Street, NY, before my referral was giving to me, The NYC Dental Center never said anything and never suggested maybe giving any pain medicine, I called the office twice to found out if the Doctor going to do the root canal and I never received call back. So I will never go back or referral any one to there office. Any one with Delta Dental through 32BJ are not welcome in this office. read more

This dentist office is horrible! Besides attempting to scam me out of my money for a cleaning and X-rays. Which is covered by my insurance BTW. I asked for a copy of my dental x-rays, the receptionist said she would send them & they were never sent! I called over and over again and the receptionist gave excuse after excuse, then would promise to send them and never did until we called to speak to her supervisor. Then they charged me for my cleaning $135 which is covered by my insurance. They lied several times stating I had to meet my deductible. I called my insurance company who called them dental office to correct them and they finally admitted they "made a mistake" how do you make that mistake when it's your daily job to check and bill insurance? These people will lie until they are backed in a corner and have to refund your money. Do not be fooled! Go elsewhere because these people are not honest. read more

My dental implant consultation was on Jan. 12, 2021 and upon leaving, I requested a treatment estimate because they said implants for two teeth would cost ~$12,000, as per Dr. Kapparova. They said the office manager would email me the cost breakdown and I asked for it 3X. I never received it as I write this review. In hindsight, they seem to be interested in just charging my insurance the fee for the consult and X rays. I don't recommend because they are over-priced (not what was quoted on the phone). It's located in a cheap looking office space; a walk-up. You go down a few steps and up one flight of stairs to the clinic. It didn't give me a good first impression. Don't go here. I really don't want to give one star because I don't think they serve any stars, but I had to pick a rating. One star is too good for them. read more

Thank you, NEXT! This is probably the worst dental experience I've ever had. I chose this location because it's around the corner from me, but definitely regretted the decision to do so! The dental assistant is the only person who has people skills - she's super sweet. The receptionist seems like someone they hired out of college that needed a job. The dentist Dr. Cohen was the most monotone bored person sitting. Definitely seemed as if he was having a terrible day or he really doesn't like his job. The assistant greeted me and escorted me in to take my x-rays. Next, Dr. Cohen came in and literally didn't spend more than 2 seconds looking at them or reviewing them... he literally glanced at them and provided me with no feedback or anything. Then he proceeded to give me a cleaning... omg the worst cleaning I've had in my life.... no I'm being dead serious... did he just enter dental school? During my cleaning, he exchanged no words - he cleaned my teeth and water sprayed all over my face, certain areas were sensitive so I squinted but he could careless and said nothing. He then polished my teeth and basically gave me a small cup of water to rinse with. It took all of 2 minutes!!! No mouth wash, no flossing, nothing.... Do yourself a favor and book another dentist. :) read more

Dr. Dana was awesome. She took out 2/4 of my impacted wisdom teeth. It took almost 3 hours to do with the help of 2 others, which is why she was unable to do the others. She also didn't want to cause me too much pain at once. She followed up with me daily and nightly for about a week after. My mouth healed fine with no issues - even though honestly I stopped using the prescribed antibiotics and pain killers the day after the procedure. I honestly wish I could give them less than 1 star. They used to be a decent practice but lately they have gotten horrible. I was scheduled for a follow up in February and went to the office, stood outside ringing the bell for 10 mins and calling the office before I finally got through to someone. They informed me that the office was closed due to an emergency and they tried to send a text message to my office phone number. When I asked why they didn't call my cell phone they claimed they didn't have it on file, which I found funny because his previous staff called my cell prior in regard to previous appointments. I finally went back in today for a 12 pm visit. I got my xray rather quickly and was placed in an exam room by 12:20 p. I waited there until 12:50 p and finally asked what was going on because I had to get back to work. The dental assistant was very nice and went to him, I overheard her tell him he was supposed to come to my room first and he replied he would be there when he is finished. What was the purpose of making an appointment if he was going to see who ever he wanted anyway. Then he came out because he heard me talking to the dental assistant, no apology and said I will see you soon. I grabbed my coat and said no you won't as I left. If you want a patient to respect your time, that should be reciprocated. I will not be recommending this facility to anyone in the future. read more

UNETHICAL AND UNPROFESSIONAL. I was scheduled for a big procedure on April 1, for which I needed to take medication beforehand. The day before my procedure, on 3/31, I got a call canceling because they no longer took my insurance. I complained that I had already started the antibiotic and I would be happy to come in that day because I assumed the insurance change was taking place on the first of April. The receptionist informed me that the insurance had already been dropped and I could not come in that day either. They could not provide a referral or any help for where to go to get the procedure done elsewhere. Since this is how they manage their business, I question the professionalism and abilities of everyone who works there. In addition, I was in the office for a consult two weeks prior to the procedure (when they still took my insurance) and Dr. Kapparova had a cough. During the COVID-19 pandemic, when you cough in someone's face while examining them, it would be appropriate to apologize and explain what the cough is, and perhaps even state that you are certain it's not Covid. She did neither and I was so stunned that I jumped back in the dental chair but stayed quiet. When she coughed again at the reception desk, I said something and the receptionist, not Dr. Kapparova, assured me she didn't have Covid. I have spent over a year mostly indoors protecting myself and others, so her behavior seemed oddly unaware and out of touch for a medical practitioner. read more

Please make sure you read all the hidden comments as well before choosing a dentist. This dentist, Dr. Dana is not an orthodontist and not skillful at Invisalign. She was very rough on me like my head was a beanbag or something, and my gum was bleeding when she did the IPR. She said she "manipulated your gum a little bit" I did not know better at the time because it was my first time having Invisalign. I switched to an orthodontist and my orthodontist now had never made my gum bleed when he performed IPR's on me. Dr. Dana messed up most of the angles of my front teeth. My orthodontist now had to fix as much as he could and he said were filed when they were not ready. I could tell myself too even without the orthdontist. The angles were all messed up and one tooth was filed more than the other thus I was left was one tooth smaller than all the other ones. Seriously, as a layman, I could even see that myself too. I am not sure why she could not see that they were filed weirdly. Dr. Dana was also very emotional and took things out on her patient (me, I cannot speak for other patients) when she had a bad day. At the initial treatment was she nice, of course, but after the contract was signed, she got angry when I tried to ask her more questions. Not to mention that she tried to get me to pay extra money when the Invisalign didn't fit when she told me everything would be inclusive at the very beginning. She said we would have to do the impression and everything all over when it could just be her miscalculation on how much IPR she needed to perform. By the way, I know from my experience and other friends' experiences that IPR is not only performed once at the beginning and more will be needed as the treatment goes on. However, she told me the tray did not fit, and we would have to start all over with extra money. I paid extra money for a plan which would include the retainer, but afterward, she told me yes but it would only include the old-fashion retainer not the Invisalign retainer. The whole thing sounded very scammy. If you still want to work with her, please make sure you have the contract with detailed descriptions and a third-party there to confirm what you guys have talked about. read more

Would I have a root canal again? YES! I just came home from NYC Dental Center. I had the BEST experience with my root canal. Dr. Jason Li took great care of me. I have never had a dental procedure be so painless. Dr. Li made sure to carefully numb, and did not rush like other dentists have, a true master and the best bed side manner in my opinion. I absolutely love the New York City dental center. My experience has been absolutely amazing. I travel almost an hour because I live outside of New York City but the commute is worth the experience and the treatment that I have received. The wait time is never lengthy. The staff are all friendly and courteous. Reception/ sceduler is welcoming and professional. Dr Lee is exceptional. He is thorough and caring of your needs as a patient. I have also taken my grandson, who was nervous at first but then felt completely comfortable. I highly recommend this office to anyone who is interested in receiving the best dental care. read more

NYC Dental responded quickly when I needed a root canal. I was very nervous about the procedure when my regular dentist referred me to a place with terrible reviews and that required a $75 vitality test on top of the root canal. FYI you don't need that test. The office processed my insurance and accepted my x rays from my dentist. Dr. Seabrook was amazing really made me feel at ease and had great communication throughout the procedure. Only reason I am giving 4 stars was the receptionist who was otherwise very professional had to deal with someone on the phone who sounded very aggressive and I'm pretty sure it was another dentist at the office. I hope I never have to encounter that dentist. They sounded like a nightmare. Dr. Seabrook is there on Tuesdays. He's great. read more

I had a problem with my root canal which a doctor in SF worked on. Upon arriving into NY, I started having problems with the crown. I called Dr. Dana's office because it was nearby and had great reviews. I was amazed at how friendly and accommodating Dr. Dana was given my tight and hectic masters program schedule. She even scheduled me 15 mins before her office hours just so that I can make it to school! You will find that Dr. Dana is not just friendly, but very good at what she does. She was able to fix my crown and bite adjustment, and didn't stop until I was 100% happy with my bite. I just went to see Dr. Kapparova after switching out from my old dentist, who had been milking me as a cash cow for over a decade. Her office is clean and modern and Dr. Kapparova is young and attractive (not that that is terribly relevant, but hey you notice). She also has excellent credentials. She diagnosed the problem right away, gave me advice for dealing with my old dentist, and then expertly (and painlessly) extracted my wisdom tooth. She also called me that evening to check up on me and see how I was doing (who does that?-not my pervious dentist!) She has a wonderful kind demeanor, great "chair side manner" for calming the patient, and friendly easy-going personality. Although my experience has been limited, she is really a delight to deal with! I will recommend her to anyone who asks. read more

This review is not coming from a patient of NYC Dental Center, instead I am TRYING to become a new patient and am absolutely appalled that a dental office that markets itself so grandly is incompetent regarding the simple basic service of providing A FUCKING WORKING PHONE. THere is only one phone number lister-that's weird in itself - and i am having a dental emergency and cannot reach the office. When you call and "press option 0 for the operator..." firstly, you get a mail box - WTF - no live person or answering service for a dental center that portrays itself as an established business then the FUCKING mail box is FULL. My new insurance plan listed only 3 dentists in network, near my home and when i googled had enough good reviews for me to pick it as my first choice. The fact that they do NOT have a working phone is enough to eliminate them as a choice as one must wonder... what would happen if one of their established patients had an emergency hypothetically the day after they had a dental procedure at NYC Dental Center and they called- during the work week and during business hours - and they were only able to acces the operators voice mail box to leave a message -yeah, i trust that message will get to a dentist, ha - then the recordind "The operator's voice mail box is full and cannot take messages.Goodbye" SLAM - hung up on! What would this hypothetical established patient, 24 hours post dental procedure, in need of urgent care from the NYC Dental Center provider who performed that procedure and there was no way to get into contact? NO, NO. As the former wife of a physician, a board certified medical doctor-yeah he's an idiot- but never out of reach of his patients yet alone only one phone number, one option to leave a message, a full voice mail box, and rudely hung up on by their "Siri". So, this is probably a first-a review of a dental office from a person in dire need of their service yet unable to make any sort of contact. Unacceptable.Unprofessional. Dr. Kapparova was the best dentist I've been to in my young 33 years. I called her last minute for wisdom tooth pain that was unbearable after I received a routine cleaning earlier in the day at another office. The person they suggested to remove the tooth could not see me for a week. I could not wait! She was readily available. This is my first wisdom tooth removal and I elected to do it awake. I have never had a more professional and and skilled dentist. On top of all of that she was comforting. She personally called me throughout my recovery to check up on me and was readily available with any concerns that I had. In an age of putting money above a patients needs, Dr. Kapparova was a pleasant and compassionate dentist. She really made sure that I was good throughout the whole process.
