The Doctors and staff working on patients are fine. The girls doing the billing are extremely crooked or incompetent. Make sure you read all the paperwork that they give you thoroughly!!!! Bill keeps changing from week to week. 1 week it will be $86. The next week, it will be in the hundreds of dollars.. everything is an estimate apparently, so make sure you read the paperwork thoroughly. If it would have let me give this office and dentist 0 stars to do this review that's what I would have given it. This dentist and the office is the most unprofessional unorganized business I have ever in my 53 years of life had to deal with. the dentist did not know how to properly fit me for dentures. I started the process February 28, 2022 to get a top denture and a bottom partial. My Medicare insurance paid for it to this day October 18,2022 I am yet to get what has been paid for. After almost three most of going back and forth being fitted when they actually came to the office, they were horrible. So thin you could see thru them. Uneven and oversized. even the dental assistant told me do not let the dentist make you take these. she said they were one of the worse dentures she had ever seen in her 20+years as an assistant. when I kept telling the dentist they were not fitting properly, he begin to pull my jaw side to side aggressively. he then got mad and said he will just start over. there was or is no way I am ever going back there. I really hate to leave a low rating review and it's taken me a while to do this one. To start, it was last year when I was seen, just to be clear. All we wanted to do was get our routine cleanings. Keep in mind: We have great dental insurance, and never balked when there were uncovered expenses. We never complained about anything at all and just quietly went along for the ride. We weren't difficult clients, at all! So.... Let me just break it down. 1. The facility looks clean and nice in the lobby but don't be fooled; they don't put in near the amount of effort in the exam rooms. 2. We spent hours waiting, every visit. Between my husband and I, we spent 8 hours just waiting there within a week... for nothing major. Hours, man! 3. They are super pushy about extra procedures; they make you feel like it's in dire need, but later, you realize what they've pushed was unnecessary, frivolous, and actually harmful as deemed by another professional. 4. The staff can be pretty grumpy. Even given our wait times and experiences, we never got crappy with them; never complained one bit. But boy, do they know how to make a client feel unimportant. The technician was pretty friendly and there was a different doctor walking around and she was super nice! But the fella I had for a doctor was short tempered and unhappy. And that front staff; Lordy. They were nice when I called to schedule my first appointment. The end. 5. I'm not sure what the deal was but when I had one of these later deemed unnecessary procedures done, the dentist yanked the gauze and the plastic barrier out of my mouth with such force that he actually pulled the skin off the inside of my cheek. He said, "Hm." That's all. "Hm." Now, that hurt! It a huge, plastic barrier shaped hole and was sore for weeks until the skin grew back. Gross, i know. Just saw Dr. Patel for the first time and it was amazing! I arrived at my appointment 15 mins early since I was a new patient. First impression: The office is new,clean, well decorated. I was greeted by Jessica and she was very helpful with all the paperwork. I waited for 5 minutes before I saw the Doctor. Everything was ready and set up. He provided enough numbing medication, so I didn't feel anything! This is the first time I have had a pleasant, pain free experience at a dentist office! I was seen at Lakland Smile Experts on March 20, 2015 for an examination of my upper right teeth and gums. My gums were extremely red and my face was swollen. The dentist took xrays and did a brief examination. I was told the pain and swelling was due to periodontal disease and prescribed a treatment plan for a $1440 deep cleaning. I went to another dentist for a second option. They immediately discovered my tooth was completely cracked in half and the infection was the result from the split tooth. The tooth could not be saved and was extracted. Since then the infection has subsided and there is no need for a deep cleaning. Had the dentist done a more thorough exam they would have easily seen the crack in the tooth and would have saved me from enduring another week of extreme pain. I would recommend getting a second opinion before having any service done at this dental office. If I didnt I would be out $1440 and a tooth. I gave them an additional star because they did refund my payment for the office visit. read more

My name is Octavia & I have a 5 star review on google from when I first started Invisalign with this company. I wanted to come back & change that. It has been 4 years & im still in treatment. between the 4 years I have had 4 different doctors with the turnover of their company, I have just been given trays with no actual check ups, I was told I had gingivitis at the end of my first treatment even though I went to my appts regularly, & then they never gave me a retainer from my transition to my next treatment months later. speaking to the regional manager, she was saying that I've had health issues which is why my treatment was delayed. not their doctors office fault. when I spoke to the regional manager Natalie & she wasn't even accommodating to any of my needs. I requested a transfer form & she has yet to respond, I also requested a refund for everything I've had to go through & she requested I go to Brandon which is even farther than this office which is already 50 min away from my house. even when I agreed to try it I have yet to hear a response. this has been a waste of time & money. Disappointed! I booked my appointment back in Nov 2020 for March 17 2021 an noon: Arrived to the office 20 mns earlier and followed "health safety instructions" of the signs posted at the door that pointed me to call their office ph # and leave my name, etc. Waited for 40 minutes in my car, called again to get status of my appointment just to be told that "I had to be re-scheduled because it was too late and the doctor was leaving early...." I was also informed that the sign was no longer applicable and that they needed to remove it from the door. What? The current environment of panic and virus paranoia is bad enough for businesses to complicate simple things like up-date safety guidelines, greet clients, return calls, etc. We the patrons, "follow instructions" and guidelines and we trust you also to do same (check voice messages). I am a firm believer and a loyal supporter of local businesses, especially small ones. I will not be your patient, but I would urge you to review and polish your customer service strategies, especially with potential/new patients. A simple call, text message and or e-mail prior to appointment explaining your guidelines would have avoided this disappointing first impression. Not too hard to do. Although they did a good job putting a composite on my front tooth, i was shocked to observe their behavior. They tried to sell me worth 1500$ of care when i knew it was only a minor problem i needed them to fix. i had to insist for the doctor to do the job which he did not wanted to do after having paid 79$ already. Bottom line is after insisting to see the doctor they eventually agreed to do it, basically a little composite to put on my front tooth that broke. Well, it was an extra 273$ to do that. Total of 359$ for a 15min job worth 100$ at most. The doctor is good but be prepared for a very expensive service. read more

I went to Lakeland Smile Experts for a cleaning. The advertised special was $79 for new patients. I was a new patient. They said I needed thousands of $ worth or work. They did NOT clean my teeth then they billed my insurance well over $100 and then billed me another $95. I started a complaint with the Better Business Bureau (highly suggested). This company refused to respond but the bills stopped for a little while. They waited until they figured that the case had been closed and started sending me bills under a different name, Smile Design. I have reopened my complaint with the BBB. Went in on an emergency basis. My oral surgeon was out of town. I waited hours. Finally, had the 5 teeth pulled on the bottom and one on the top at over $1000.00. A few days later, a tooth next to the ones pulled, started hurting and throbbing. Thank god my usual oral surgeon was back. He was infuriated at the fact they only pulled the teeth, no stitches. When my teeth were pulled, it pushed the bone forward towards my lip. I would not be able to get a partial done. My usual oral surgeon had to freeze, reopen where the teeth were pulled and open the gum and grind down the bone all the way across. After 22 stitches and another $850.00, I will never trust going there again and never recommend them to anyone ever. read more

Worst dentist ever. Set up an appointment, waited 2 hrs past the appointment time w no explanation. The dentist came in the room for less then a minute, w out saying a single word to me. Then they wanted to push their credit card on me for the bill. Once I was able to finally set up an appointment to have my teeth clean they wanted to push the cleaning back 3 weeks. Seriously?? I have spent this morning filing a complaint with The Americans with Disabilities Act against this office for their inhuman treatment of my 18 year old intellectually and physically disabled son. We waited for the appointment for 4 days while he had visible swelling and pain along with an obvious cavity. 30 minutes prior to his appointment on a Friday no less, we were called and told not to come. We were open and honest about his limitations and had them verify they could accommodate him when we made the appointment. They called twice to verify insurance but needed to wait until we were literally out the door to tell us they wouldn't even try to see him. They'd never even met him and he was crying in pain in the background of the call as they told us sorry can't help you..leave you tried seeing a dentist on a Friday?? This place is like going in for an oil change. You go in for one thing, and they try and push you into thousands of dollars of work. It's about money and only money. Very poor, they are more concerned about payment and how to get you to pay especially if you have no dental insurance and even if you cancel your appointment in a timely manner and do not have any procedures done at their office they still charge a $600.00 fee for canceling the appointment, isn't that something? you have to pay for not going through with what ever dental care plan they offered you even though you had nothing done except for the initial office visit which is $79.00 which was paid for five months ago when I originally went there and here we go 5 months later after i was told there would be no other charges since I had canceled my appointment and my card was reimbursed all but the $79.00 which was fine (yeah you have to pay in full before anything is done to you) and without my consent placed the charge on my card. read more

I chipped my 2 front teeth went to Lakeland Smile Experts hoping they could help me. I paid the 79 dollars for the exam, which was suppose to include a cleaning which I never got and xrays. When I inquired about the x-rays the assistant acted put out with me when I asked since they were supposed to be included in the $79. They put resin on my front 2 teeth, within 1 month 1 of the resins chipped off due to it hitting one of my bottom teeth because they didn't bother to do a bite test! so they had me back and fixed it again by chiseling down my bottom tooth to accommodate their "artwork".3 weeks later both resins chipped off again! I had paid $500 for these things. I was told if this had happened again I would have to have crowns. ..another money pit because they don't know how to properly apply resin apparently. I thought crowns were a bit drastic since the chips were so minor! After they both chipped again I went to another dentist for another opinion who said and noticed they didn't even buff my front teeth which was why they looked scratchy and felt uncomfortably ruff. Family Dental at Lakeland Village fixed my teeth. Such a noticeable difference in the thickness, bond, shape and even color. She cost 720 to fix both. after all was said and done I went directly to lakeland smile experts to see if I could get a refund on the shoty work that didn't even last 2 months and I was told I just should have returned to them again....who can afford to keep taking off work to come in and have something fixed again and again? and when I mentioned the lack of even buffing the teeth he said I should have come back and it's easily fixable...it should have been done right the first time! Will never recommend them again. They should take better care of their patients and right their wrongs. I've now had to spend close to 1300 total on 2 small chips and again I didn't even get the full "promotional offer" for 79 they advertise for exam, cleaning, and xrays. They may cost less than other dentists....but you get what you pay for..so do yourself a favor and spend a little more and get your teeth fixed the right way they first time! As a registered nurse, I understood now how it is to be on the other side of bad care. Shame on them.
