I would not have selected this…read morepractice of my own volition but since military healthcare can be a bit of a dictatorship at times, I had no choice. I have to openly admit that my average rating for this practice is purely based on superficial reasons. I place a premium on my healthcare establishments to be modern, well-appointed with the latest equipment. This practice unfortunately lacked that. The dental x-ray machine looked to be from the 80s and the rooms were tiled with bathroom tile that may have been throw backs from the late 70's. However, in all fairness, everything was clean and looked to be in good working order. If you are not as superficial as I am and all you care about is the quality of service then this would be the ideal place for you. The staff was kind, courteous and prompt. I was seen the minute I walked in the door. The hygienist did a fantastic job and only mildly scolded me for brushing too hard. The dentist, Denise Anderson, was kind, but brief. She took a quick look at my x-rays, glanced at the job the hygienist did, and warmly and genuinely praised me for my 0 cavity visit. I started at Mangrove when I moved to Westchase from Pinellas county in 2011 and I was so impressed with the dentist. I didn't always have the best hygienist, but after a few years I had someone that was perfect. Then I noticed the front desk staff changed...and the customer service was no longer existent. The new front desk/billing staff didn't greet you or even look at you when you approach the desk. Their eyes stay on their screen. As you leave and walk out with your hygienist the same front desk staff treats you as if you are interrupting them. I checked my EOB and was charged for X-rays when I didn't receive any. My husband works for our insurance company so I am more than aware when a Dr office is cheating the system. I called and they said they would just give me X-rays the next time I'm in and not run it through insurance...I let it go because I loved my hygienist and I really like the dentist. Somehow the dentist allowed the front desk to run his business down. I referred so many of my friends and family here including my husband. Unfortunately, he came in and they didn't pull his old records or ask him if he needed special X-rays...they just did it, billed him and when he called to say he was shocked that he got billed, they said that since he had X-rays at his last dentist he would need to pay for these. My husband said that he's never been to a new dentist that didn't at least ask or state that they need their own X-rays...most dentists who do this will write off the X-rays since you are a new patient. Not Mangrove. They send my husband, with over an 800 credit score to collections. Besides this the pressure to buy extras went up diver the years...didn't bother me much but I noticed. I finally changed dentists. When I did they made me get new X-rays but assured me that if my insurance company didn't cover it because I had just had X-rays at mangrove they would write it off...because they require their own X-rays from their new patients. I have yet to get a phony bill or EOB from my new dentist. I can no longer recommend Mangrove. The front seat/billing staff is just too rude, incompetent, disrespectful and non-empathetic. They lost a patient of 8 years because they hired people that don't understand customer service.

The reason I decided to change Doctors was because my hygienist stopped working with this practice. My experience under the new Hygienist just didn't compare, so I decided to move on. Anyway, After a number of years with my new Doctor, I decided to look again, due to him selling the practice, leaving me with no choice but to find another Doctor. My wife had been going to Mangrove for a few years and recommended I give them another try... So I did. So why the poor rating? The poor experience. My cleaning was mediocre and most importantly the service left much to be desired. I've always been impressed with a practice that checks with a patients insurance plan first prior to offering or performing a procedure. A patient should be advised (beforehand) that they are responsible for services performed if not covered by their insurance plan. It's that simple. I prefer to not get into specifics, Let's just say I was not pleased with the way the staff Mangrove handled my concern. to be frank, they didn't seem to care about my concern and left the burden on my shoulders without even apologizing. This is unacceptable. It takes a lot for me to drop the lone star. This is one of those rare occasions where it's granted.

Made an appointment online, completed all the paperwork prior to the appointment. Dr. Gray, Yolanda and Kate, the care team for my chipped tooth, were wonderful. They were all very patient, kind and professional. Dr. Gray and Yolanda were exceptional in the care they provided to fix my tooth. From check-in to check-out, the experience was friendly and thorough. I go back in three weeks for my permanent tooth replacement, and am currently considering switching my regular dental care here visits even though it's a bit further away.

Dr. Bawany took over the practice around 5 years ago and changed the name from All Dental Tampa to Tampa Smile Co. I like Dr. Bawany and always received quality treatment from him. The practice has since expanded greatly and recently, I've also seen Dr. Bentivegna and Dr. Gray, both of whom were great. My last few visits I've had Naomi as my hygienist. She is sweet, personable, and always does a fantastic job with my teeth. As others have said, the only reason this is not a 5 star practice is because they are very pushy with Invisalign and the related Invisalign technology. They must be getting quite the kickback from that company as they really pride themselves on how many Invisalign treatments the've been able to push. I neglected having a regular dentist for a long time. Part of it was growing up with parents who…read morereally only fix things when they go wrong and suck at preventative maintenance so I knew I would be dealing with headaches trying to get my mouth squared away. Of all the local providers that were in network for my insurance, Dr Mang's office had the best feedback. I have overall had good experiences so far. I went in with the goal of finally fixing a front tooth that I broke in half back in 2004 that was getting darker over time. Before tackling that I had a series of smaller fillings and cleanings and things just to make sure I was in the right hands. The office has several dentists on staff (I think I've had all of them work on me at this point) and I really really love Dr. Ware. She is an absolute perfectionist, and when it comes to your front teeth you really want perfection. I wanted a zirconia crown for both durability and better color coverage. Those are lab made and have a week and a half to two week turn around vs same day porcelain. My temporary crown was not a great color but it was only there as a placeholder and I wasn't concerned. She revised the crown once it arrived as the color was off a little bit and the lab missed the notes on wanting to keep my center gap (I would rather have symmetry). I managed to knock the temp out a couple times in the midst of back to back hurricanes but by the time the final arrived I hauled ass to have her set it in and I couldn't be happier. It really looks like it belongs in my mouth. The front desk staff are fantastic. I love the text hotline and have used it to change appointment days/times because I find it easier than phone calls. The hygienists have been fantastic too. No one was too rough or too gentle on my teeth. And the waterfall fountain in the front office is a pretty sweet touch for those with anxiety about being in these offices.

They scheduled me a week out which my old dentist was months out. The parking lot is easy and the building looks nice but once you step inside it's like a sanctuary. Again, greeted by awesome people at the front desk and everyone in the office was very nice and friendly. The x rays were quick and painless (and a good price) and the hygienist that did my cleaning was gentle and not in a rush, she was accommodating and made sure I had plenty of rest to catch my breath. My dentist was excellent I believe her name is Kim. She is very informative and not pushy (to sell product or services) I am 100% satisfied with my experience and am thrilled to find my new dentist close to home. I highly recommend this practice!
