On May 8, I went to the Smile Image Dentist office to see Dr. Kim Loan Nguyen to check my tooth (#11) because I saw a black dot in front of my tooth, near the gum. I went in for one tooth and came out with 3 fillings for my teeth. #11 MF #12 MO #8 IF and with cleaning I paid $734 After I went home and around tooth #11-12 I felt that it was sore whenever I touched the area. Then I started looking at my teeth to see what was wrong and I found out what had happened to tooth #11 the doctor did the filling incorrectly and overlapped it onto my gum and #12 still had a black dot. I made another appointment to a different dentist to check at the recently done teeth. When the doctor checked and asked me when I had the filling, I said two weeks ago, and I showed him the receipt. He said "Did they work quickly?" I said yes, then he gave me two options: whether I went back and have my teeth redone or for him to fix it and ask for refund. he started to numb my teeth and correctly filling the tooth with the filling that was overlapping my gum, if I had left it for too long, the food would have been stuck inside, causing damage to the root. I made another appointment to come back in order to take care of tooth #12 beause I still had a cavity. He started to take pictures of my teeth to bring to Dr. Nguyen. I felt so bad for what happened to me, because I worked at the same shopping center with the Smile Image Dental Office and found it so convenient and I wanted to support my work neighbors. I'm so sorry for what happened to me and I can't recommend you come to this dental office at all. i'm also posting the pictures of my tooth (#11) with the filling overlapping my gum and a picture of #12 with the the cavity still there to show you. I scheduled an appointment several months ago because I was experiencing some pain in my back tooth. It had been a long time since I had been to a dentist so I was a bit nervous. I went for an initial visit where I had a scan and teeth cleaning. I scheduled the next visit for the next week or so. In the mean time my tooth started to really act up so I called again and rescheduled my appointment for a sooner date. I get to the appointment and had to wait for the dentist to walk in which I didn't mind. When I finally get to seat in the chair I was very nervous about the drilling and stuff because it had been so long. The dentist was a bit dry with me while I tried to explain why I was so nervous. I didn't feel comfortable during the whole procedure and I felt like I was just another hole to drill rather than a human being. When the filling was done and that I had to now pay for the appointment, I learned that I had to pay $30 more than the original price without giving me any satisfying explanation as to why I was charged more. I remember feeling depressed after my appointment and not wanting to return to this location. Overall I didn't like my experience at the Smile Image I will not return. read more

Doctors are great. Very professional and don't feed you wrong information nor try to do work that isn't necessary. If you don't think dentists would do something like that.... it's happened to me before. This location, I had a lot of problems at first with the front staff but they have gotten better. They were constantly messing up paperwork and billing. I had every reason to bail on this place. The fact the doctors are straight with me, i'll recommend here but do watch that your paperwork / name / billing is correct. They aren't trying to be shady, I just think they are busy. read more

Popped a crown while eating lunch on a Saturday, they worked me in at 1:30 that afternoon and cemented it back in place. The dentist and her staff were friendly, attentive, and they now have a new patient. I appreciate that they have Saturday hours (until 2:00) to accommodate patients who cannot take time from work during the week and, yes, those whose crowns decide that the weekend is the optimal time to come unglued. I love Dr. Nguyen. She is always professional and personable. She's also a great dentist--smart and capable. I recently had an accident in which I severely shattered my two front teeth. She answered my emergency page on Easter Sunday in a very timely manner and came in on her day off the next Monday to personally treat me. She does amazing cosmetic dentistry. I now have two beautiful crowns on my two front teeth that look better than my original teeth. The office is a no-frills place, but the staff are friendly and personable. I would rather have a good, capable dentist in a low-key setting than a slick, fancy setting with a dentist trying to sell me services I don't need. read more

I am very disturbed and concerned about my experience at this dental practice on 2/9/22. The pushy and overzealous manner in which this front desk, staff member was trying to get me to sign a treatment plan with a rate quote, claiming I had cavities, further raised my suspicions. I refused to sign the treatment plan, and I requested for a copy of it. Sure enough I went to another dental practice, (with a better customer rating), where they took more detailed imaging/x-ray pictures, including panaromic imaging, (something this dental practice did not do on 2/9/22), and confirmed, after the dental exam by the dentist, that I did not have cavities. If you are going to go to this dental practice, keep in mind you will need to get a second opinion so you don't get ripped off. It is quite unfortunate that a dental practice would resort to providing false information to a patient, in other to make profit. read more

I've been going to Smile Image for about 10 years. The staff is super friendly. Dr. Nguyen is very personable. I get the routine cleanings and x-rays. The office follows your insurance allowances very well. I've never had to pay extra for routine services and they don't try to upcharge you on services. I had my first root canal at Smile Image and it wasn't bad. They go over all the costs up front and don't pressure you. I've referred lots of family and friends here. read more

This was the first time I visited this office and definitely the LAST TIME. At first I was surprised I got an appointment the very next day but now I know why. The agent who took my appointment was very courteous on the phone so unsuspectingly took the appointment. When I reached the office I could tell that things were not very organized, It just gets better when the technician was unable to take the x-rays as my 6 yr old was uncooperative, they yet ended up billing me for it. The doctor proceeded to check and said that there were 4 cavities and surprised that the previous dentist did not detect them. That did not stop her from doing a cleaning (which I did not ask for) so they could bill the insurance company. I asked the receptionist and doctor for a copy of my child's medical records electronically as I wanted to get a second opinion and was given an excuse " Our business manager has informed us not to e mail x rays to a patient's email for the possibility of a virus corrupting our system" . I am not sure how emailing someone can infect the senders computer. This is because they don't want their BS getting checked by someone else. They then handed a patient treatment plan for 4 cavities for a total of $900. Mary even tried to sell me a electric toothbrush for $40. What a SCAM and MONEY MAKING RACKET. PEOPLE BEWARE OF THIS PRACTICE / COMPANY AS THEY ARE OUT TO MAKE MONEY AND WILL DO EVERYTHING THEY CAN TO PREVENT YOU FROM GETTING ANOTHER OPINION. read more

Had an appointment set a week ahead of time get there early, they conveniently tell me to go to get something to eat. I come back on time and suddenly my dentist fell ill and i could not be helped. I am furious because i did everything right and I am still with out relief. Was not able to find any other dentist on such sort notice im afraid the infection will come back since i work i have no other time i can schedule an appointment.I honestly feel like cracking my own skull open on the side of the road cause thats the kinda pain im in. I've always had great experiences with this dentist, and I've been a bunch recently. Dr. Nguyen is skilled, efficient and personable. The staff is friendly and professional. In reference to the poor review below, if my dentist felt ill I wouldn't want them working on me quite frankly. I'm glad she was honest about it. I came to the Smile Image Dentists for cleaning my teeth, and Dr. NGUYEN recommended me to do the root canal for one of my tooth. This tooth was filled long time ago and I didn't have any problem with it. I trusted her and let her do the root canal for it, and the problem started from here. After the root canal, my tooth was pain. She gave me some kind of antibiotics to make the pain gone, and she crowned my tooth. I felt a little uncomfortable with my tooth after the dental crown, but I think it will be ok later then. Unfortunately, I got pain in my tooth two months after that, so I came back to Dr. Nguyen. She said my tooth got infectious after the root canal and gave me the antibiotics again. She said there was a kind of bacteria in my body that caused the infection, and advise me to extract the tooth if the antibiotics doesn't work. The antibiotics didn't work. I suspected what she said and I went to the endodontist for checking up. The endodontist said there was a fracture at the bottom of my tooth and it caused the infection. This tooth was unrestorable and I need an extraction for it. So there were two cases that could happen with my tooth: 1) My tooth had fracture before the root canal 2) Dr. Nguyen caused the fracture in my tooth during the root canal. It's very slightly percentage that my tooth has fracture before the root canal since it was filled for more than 15 years and I don't have any pain or any problem with it. Even when it has fracture before, she should recommend me to extract it at the beginning instead of doing root canal, crowning, and extracting it. It's most likely that she caused the fracture in my tooth during the root canal. I extremely disappointed on the quality of her works and her explanation on the reason of the infection since she blamed on some kind of bacteria in my body. If so, why didn't the infection happen with the root canal that I did elsewhere before (2 of my teeth). I did the tooth extraction this morning before I'm writing this review. It totally costs me $1300 (root canal, dental crown, and then extraction) + one tooth. It's ok if you do the clean, deep clean, or some simple things for your teeth there. I DON'T recommend any complex procedure from Smile Image Dentists. read more

They were quick to get me in and diagnose the cause of my pain. Quick as in, xray, diagnosis and directive to see a surgeon and then come back. They did give me a recommendation after I asked. (hence 2 stars) However, the dentist does not deal well with people who are nervous. She also seemed very judgmental as to how I found myself in need of a root canal. ( I had a filing in the tooth and an infection formed under the filing. At my check up in March it was undetected by my former dentist of 15 years.) I am wording this carefully as this was THE WORST dental experience I have ever had. The front counter staff would multitask to the point of being rude by answering the phone and assisting other patience while in the middle of talking to me and I stood there, feeling like an idiot. Although , when they did pay attention to me they were helpful. The dentist was lacking in bedside manner and obviously became flustered with my nervousness and inability to be numbed. She then made remarks that I found rude, insensitive and belittling. Maybe she was having a bad day. Either way I choose to take my business elsewhere and am very glad I did. read more

I found this dentist through my insurance after I recently moved to Houston. I am very strict about getting my teeth cleaned and checked every 6 months, so I figured this would be like any other cleaning/exam I've had. The staff was nice and I was taken to the back pretty quickly. After my exam and xrays, Dr. Doan (the male one) told me I had 6 cavities! I knew that there was something wrong about this because I take very good care of my teeth and don't have a history of bad oral hygiene. I took my xrays and treatment plan and went to a different dentist for a second opinion. As I had suspected, MY TEETH WERE PERFECT! Not a single cavity - unlike what the other doctor had told me. If I hadn't gone for a second opinion, I would have spent $300+ for unnecessary treatment. I had my husband get a second opinion as well, and as suspected, Dr. Doan treatment planned my husband for unnecessary work as well!! My husband had already gotten some of the work done (about $250 worth AND WE HAVE INSURANCE!?) before I took him. Our loss, but glad I did this before he went back for more treatment. I have been with Smile Image Dentists for 9yrs now and I have to say everyone is wonderful and the doctors are very understanding to all my needs. I have never had treatment done that was false, if anything they have saved me money!
