A few days ago, I experienced some pain on my left side and went to my normal dentist who did just a horrible job getting down to the root of my problem only suggesting I come back into the office in 5 days for a more thorough exam. Needless to say I was in agony all evening after leaving his office. The next morning, which was a Saturday, I decided to call North Bethesda dental and to my surprise, I was able to book an emergency appointment for Monday morning. I would still have to wait an additional day for relief but I was happy to not have to see anyone other than Dr. Kim. I arrived Monday morning at 9:45am and was immediately seen. It took no more than 10 minutes to identify the problem and come up with a solution. Turns out I needed a root canal.. and before I could run out the back door, Dr. Kim and his entire staff took turns assuring me that I would be fine, feel virtually no pain during the procedure, and walk away in much better shape than I came in. I cried the entire time in the chair, but not because I felt pain-- just out of fear. Dr. Kim was so compassionate... when the procedure was complete, I wanted to give him a big hug and thank him. Just as I was told, I didn't feel a thing during my procedure. I have been referring co workers to North Bethesda during the years but I now have business cards from the office to hand out during meetings. I have never been more pleased to have dental work done! And believe it or not, this is a condensed version of my visit... I just don't have enough time to tell it all.

I need to make sure you hear me when I say she's honest, She won't be shady about your dental exam, revealing something wild like 11 cavities. Yes, true story, this actually happened to me. However, when I saw Dr. Chang, she could not find these 11 cavities :-) She commended me on my dental hygiene, and sent me on my way. These qualities are so hard to find in one dentist, and I honestly saw a string of not-so-great dentists before seeing her. This makes me appreciate her even more! I am a nurse and a soon-to-be dietitian, so I'm very selective about the healthcare providers I see. And I'm so grateful to have found Dr. Chang!

She removed my previous metal bar that was $275 and lasted for 15 + years only for her to replace the bar and for it to fall out after 3 days ! This was unexpected but I appreciated the level of transparency they want to share with their patients. Anna was also very helpful in gathering my records from a previous provider. I was taken care of in a timely manner and I really enjoyed how Pedro, the person performing my dental cleaning, was explaining every step of what he was doing and making sure I was comfortable throughout the process. The doctor that came to see me after my cleaning was done was also very nice and attentive. The facility is neat and accessible. Plenty of paid parking all around the building. Luckily, I then sought two independent opinions: both confirmed my gums are healthy. Based on this experience, the dentist is either grossly incompetent or fraudulently misdiagnosing to sell unnecessary procedures. Reading previous comments on Yelp and Google, it seems others were similarly misdiagnosed. Such conduct is disgusting and should result in the loss of a dental license. Avoid this practice and get a second opinion before agreeing to anything. By far the worst experience I have had at a dentist.

Also, it's clear he's a top notch expert when it comes to root canals. I had no pain during the procedure - just a bit of sting with the shots. The root canal immediately addressed the radiating pain. I was so relieved that an experience I expected to be horrible was not - and I enjoyed Dr. Gamson's charming chatter, which distracted me from my fears. The office staff was efficient and helped me understand the insurance coverage situation. Also, the office and treatment rooms have unique art displayed that I enjoyed learning about. Anyway, I'm going back soon as I suspect another tooth needs treatment...it's nice that I know I have no reason to worry.
