My family and I found SmileWell an excellent dentist. They are professional and well organised and they are very good with kids.

Dr. Yelamanchi looked at me for 1 min, said "yes, you need a root canal, but unfortunately I don't have the time to do it now so you'll need to schedule another appointment." What a joke. That was the whole point of the appointment - to get the root canal. Does he not realize that patients have jobs and can't just take days off work for no reason? Plus - there wasn't a single patient in the office other than me - probably because of treating patients like this. I'll take by $2000 elsewhere...

Consulting doctor recommended nitrous oxide sedation for my anxiety, which the other doctor then tried to talk me out of as he is inexperienced working with patients under sedation. The office staff did not explain the costs fully and told me that part of the cost of the procedure would be "written off" which was not reflected on my statement and I am waiting to find out if this is true or if I will be billed for this portion. This office also does not e-file prescriptions.

Simply put, Dr. Jafari was wonderful. I initially met Dr. Jafari a decade or so ago when I needed…read morea root canal. He was referred by my dentist and seemed very nice, but a family friend who was a very experienced endodontist who others in my family had used offered to do the procedure. After he retired I recommended my brother to go see Dr. Jafari ... and he did. Fast forward and I needed a second root canal. So I asked my brother how Dr. Jafari was and the review was glowing, which means a lot considering that my brother may be the worlds biggest chicken. He said, "You're an idiot if you don't go see Dr. Jafari." So I did. And my brother was right. My tooth was a borderline call whether or not to do the root canal. Dr. Jafari went out of his way - patiently - to educate me on my options, risks, benefits, costs, etc. I made the call to go forward with the root canal with the knowledge that I made an educated decision, which, once Dr. Jafari got deep into the procedure, ended up being the right decision too. And, with all that said ... and all the hype and scary stories you hear about root canals, it ended up being about as painless of a procedure as possible. I'm not going to run out and do it again, I hope, but, if I had to, there is no question I would go back to Dr. Jafari without hesitation. On top of that, it also is worthwhile to say that Dr. Jafari is about as nice, professional, informative, and good as they come. Thanks, Dr. Jafari.

I never actually came here. I was completely put off by my initial encounter with the person I was…read moremaking the appointment with. Maybe they were having a bad day, but I felt as though I were talking to a machine. When I told them that my dentist had taken X-rays that I could forward to them, they just stated that they do their own X-rays. Cool, I guess I'll just have to pay out of pocket for that huh? Then they sent a text just saying to come to my appointment and that there will be a large copay as my insurance wouldn't cover a procedure (X-rays). No thanks, you're providing a service that you are being paid for. It doesn't give you permission to treat a customer, yes customer, like they are inferior to you. Words, and how you use them, make a difference.

My military ID and benefits number ARE proof of insurance. I actually spoke with a customer representative from Tricare after this disastrous dental appointment and she confirmed that the only proof I needed was my ID and benefits number (some providers will also ask for the sponsor's DOB and SSN), and she said that providers can verify my insurance by calling their number or through their website. I have had Tricare for years and visited dentists all across the country, and all of them have not had a problem verifying my insurance, even when they weren't in network. I want to reiterate that I did nothing wrong and that the problem was and is Dr. Eghtesadi's ignorance about insurance and unwillingness to listen. Dr. Eghtesadi was not "direct," "to-the-point," or "candid." He was rude, patronizing, and caustic. If you've ever had someone try to "help" you or "teach" you something when really they just wanted to take their emotions out on you or assert their imagined superiority, then you will know what I mean. Dr. Eghtesadi can try to rewrite what happened all he wants, but I was there, and he was shockingly rude and angry. I'm curious what he thinks my "undertone" could be, but I'm just a person who had a bad experience and wrote a review about it. I find it interesting that a day after I posted my review, someone with a new account who had never posted any other reviews to Yelp posted a five star review for this business. There are similarly suspicious reviews on Google. I wrote in my review about this business' shady review practices, and now there are more suspicious reviews? How are people supposed to trust that the positive reviews for this business are legitimate?

The root canal was so much easier than any of my childhood fillings. It was so civilized compared to what I was expecting with my first root canal ever. The admin staff was so nice; Liz and Iris treated me with respect and made me feel right at ease. My consultation was done by Dr. Luke Cantamessa. He was so thorough and listened to me stating my issues. I needed the procedure to be done right away. Luckily, Dr. Kim Menhenick had an early opening. I took it and I'm so happy that I did. She was so professional and nice and made me feel so comfortable. In fact, I didn't feel anything, no pain. She talked me through the entire procedure which helped my anxiety. They used a CBCT scan to perfectly identify where and what the problem was. Then they used this amazing machine called Gentle Wave which cleans out the inside of the tooth. Not many practices have such a machine. The assistant, Sherry, was also very professional. She handled those instruments with such ease! When the procedure was over, Dr. Menhenick went over what to expect. She also said that if I had any questions to contact the office. On my way out I grabbed a granola bar and a juice box, complimentary of course! My whole experience was top rated. No one wishes for a root canal. However, if you need one this is the practice where to do it. They have three offices; DC, Bethesda, and Rockville. The other doctors on staff seem amazing as well. Top quality all around. Not happy that I needed the procedure but extremely happy I had the procedure at this practice. When you call the office, tell Liz or Iris that I said "hi"!
