I started seeing Doctor Carly G approximately 1 year ago, maybe a little longer. This was until she left on maternity leave this April 2026. This was ultimately the demise of Waldo dental. I was informed the only dentist left was Doctor Dave, who will get his share of recognition later in this review. This was also a lie. Mid April I had a procedure done, rootcanal with placement of a crown. Dr. Carly did the root canal but did not place the permanent crown as it arrived after her maternity leave started. This is where the issues begin. I was told to come back BEFORE Carly left to get the permanent crown seated, then after the temporary crown was placed I was told I had to wait 2 weeks for placement even though Dana (office manager) told me she was going to put a rush order on the permanent crown. She also rudely stated she never made this promise when trying to schedule for the permanent seating. 2 weeks later I get the call for my permanent crown to be placed. I come in to have the temporary removed, this was painful and uncomfortable to say the least. They PRIED and GRINDED the temporary off instead of just popping it off like they have in the past. This rough removal of the temporary must have compromised the tooth underneath and the composite build up because they seated the permanent crown and within less than 24 hours the tooth beneath the crown had crumbled to dust. I immediately called in panic, I rushed over to waldo dental where they told me I needed a bridge or implant now and that they weren't taking responsibility for the break (that it was my personal fault somehow) and that insurance wont cover the procedure because they just did the crown. The crown that didnt work mind you. Now this is tooth number 10. My front left incisor. Dana told me that if I disputed the claim for the crown they would not do the bridge or make me a retainer and that I can leave with nothing. So instead I complied and even though they said they would count the cost of the crown towards the bridge they proceeded to charge me $2700 for the bridge. Not the bridge prep. The bridge. Mind you, I have to wait 8 weeks for the mold for the bridge to be made and they NEVER submitted a preauthorization for the bridge but DANA lied and told me it had been rejected and thats why I needed to pay out of pocket. I called insurance BCBS FEP, they said NOTHING had ever been submitted from the dentist ( Waldo dental care) for the bridge. This still remains true as I write this review. Now let's talk about Dr. Dave.... This is the most casual person ive ever countered during a personal emergency. His nonchalance and "icoukdgiveafuk" attitude speak for themselves. With my eyes full of tears and his at half mast I begged him for a solution. He recommends the bridge. I agree. They tell me it will be nearly entirely covered by insurance. This was also a lie, or maybe it wasnt but they never submitted the PA. The next day Dana tells me I have to pay up front that insurance wont cover any of the bridge. I disagree but she threatens to refuse me care. I comply. Well Dave did the extraction and the tooth prep for said bridge on Monday May 11 at 10am. The temporary was placed and I was sent home. THAT FRIDAY I called to report extreme pain still where the procedure has been done. I admitted to taking more OTC pain relievers than I believed was safe. DANA again with her eternal attitude told me there was no doctor there to see me. Another lie. I asked for a follow up call. Saturday I got no call, yes they are open. Sunday closed. Monday. No call. Im in so much pain by this point my teeth have their own heartbeat...no follow up call by 1pm from waldo so I take myself in for an emergency visit to get a second opinion NOW MONDAY MAY 18TH IM SUFFERING FROM A DEEP INFECTION. Not a newly infected issue, something that seethed and brewed and nastied up over the weekend. At this point im prescribed antibiotics and new pain relief. I leave and go to Waldo to request my physical copy medical records and an itemized invoice. Dana again refuses to cooperate. At this point I've recorded the conversation for my safety because Dana has done nothing but lie to me for the last several weeks. I have her admission to charging me 100% out of pocket for a procedure they cant complete. She also refused to give a written agreement on the day of extraction that binds them to reimbursement once the insurance pays Dana refused this as well. I ask her if she remembers my call on Friday, she tells me yes and that they only had an oral surgeon on site and they would never waste time to see a same day complaint for pain on a prior procedure. I asked for more clarity but she dismissed me and told me to leave. I called insurance...filing now a formal grievance and appeal on the lady few weeks of work

I flew in from New York to have my wisdom teeth out by Dr. Barber and it was well worth it. I had…read moremany concerns about nerve damage but he was very well-versed and did extensive imaging prior to my surgery to ensure that there was slim to no chance of nerve damage. Was great answering all my questions (many) before the procedure and remained friendly and patient. A few hours later I was worried about excessive bleeding and his office gladly invited me to come back in for a check up immediately, although I was probably just being paranoid. He even called after the surgery to check in on my recovery. Thanks so much, Dr. Barber! In addition, I just received the bill and the pricing was more than affordable compared to many oral surgeons who over charge for simple wisdom teeth procedures. The staff was also very easy to work with. This office definitely acts with integrity and prioritizes quality of care over financial benefit! Kudos to you guys.

If you're thinking about going to Oral & Facial Associates, I strongly recommend you take a minute…read moreand read this, because my experience with their practice administrator, Christy Loudermill, was one of the most frustrating and unprofessional encounters I've ever had in a medical setting. I went into this office with a confirmed price -- written, verified, and repeated back to me. I did everything right on my end so there would be no surprises. Unfortunately, the surprise came anyway, and it came in the form of a completely different, significantly higher bill. When I reached out for clarification, Christy Loudermill, who I was told was the "billing manager" (which already confused me, considering her title is practice administrator), handled the situation in a way that was honestly shocking to me. Her response came off cold, dismissive, and completely uninterested in the fact that their mistake had real consequences for me. Instead of taking ownership or offering real help, the explanation was basically a quick brush-off labeled as "human error," as if that magically excused everything. What made it worse was the tone -- like I was the inconvenience for asking why I was suddenly expected to pay far more than what Christy herself had confirmed. There was no sense of accountability, no recognition of the office's own miscommunication, and absolutely zero acknowledgment of the impact this caused. The entire situation left me feeling like accuracy and transparency simply weren't priorities for her. And the fact that someone in the office even referred to her as the "billing manager" just added to the mess. When the people working there can't even get titles straight, it says a lot about how disorganized things are behind the scenes. My opinion? If this is how the practice administrator handles problems -- with confusion, deflection, and an attitude that the patient should just swallow the difference -- then the rest of the office is likely following the same example. This review is based entirely on my experience, but I feel strongly enough about it to warn others. You deserve a medical office that honors its own quotes, communicates clearly, and treats patients with respect -- especially when the mistake is on their end. I won't be returning. And I hope this helps someone else avoid the headache, the runaround, and the dismissiveness I dealt with from Christy Loudermill at Oral & Facial Associates

I was recommended to a dentist who could do my root canal. Got that done with no issues barring that Petersen's office listed the wrong tooth. I had them correct that, however they managed to get it wrong the second time too. Seriously. Good thing I know my teeth numbers! :) During this whole process, by the way, Petersen's office rescheduled me two or three times. Michelle had hurt her back. The hygienist also rescheduled me (I think she was sick). Anyway, these issues were not a problem for me in the least (this stuff happens) until combined with the fact that within the last 2 months or so I have tried to contact the office more than 10 times and I have received no response whatsoever. My messages have been kind and professional. I've left probably 4 voicemails. I have emailed 3 or 4 times. I have attempted to fax 3 times, but the line was busy or it just rang and rang. In light of this ridiculousness, I am in the process of switching dentists. My new dentist attempted to get my "films" (x-rays) from Dr. Petersen's office but they were told that they are actual "films" and are not digitized, therefore could not be sent. (A little disconcerting how outdated the technology they use is...) Anyway, I'm not sure why they couldn't be mailed. I tried to contact the office yet again to ask them to mail the films but have yet to reach anyone. I am at the point of having to go out of my way to go to their office in order to save $125 or so. Not a horrible thing in itself, but that would really be the icing on the cake, having to miss a bit of work for something that could be solved so simply. The overall point: Bad office management = loss of business.

If you are considering going to Dr.Schugel for any sort of oral surgery... dont. I went in for an…read morex-ray and consultation for wisdom teeth extraction. My initial experience was horrible, I had an appointment set for 10:15 I sat in the waiting room for roughly 40 minutes before being called back, I sat in the exam room with my mom. There were 2 chairs around a computer at a table, and one chair in the far corner of the room. My mother and I sat in the two chairs at the table. After waiting an additional 15 minutes for any sort of human contact... a nurse walks in the room- she looks at my mother and says "cant you see that this chair is meant for the doctor, hence its next to the monitor..." my mother was shocked. My mother got up and moved to the isolated chair in the corner and asked how long it would be until we got the x-rays and the consult because we both had to get back to work. The nurse stated " he will be in as soon as he has a free moment you havent been here that long." My jaw dropped at this woman's just horrible attitude. Another 10 minutes later I was taken to the x-ray machine, she kept placing my face on the machine and telling me to stop moving. She would take a shot and then move my face slightly and tell me to stop moving. After the fourth attempt of x-raying my mouth she said something to the effect of " this will have to be good enough" I was so disappointed at how disrespectful this woman was. The entire duration of mt visit she treated me as if I was an ignorant child. I went back to the waiting room with my mom, and after another 15 minutes wait Dr. Schugel came in sat in "his chair" and put up my x-rays. I had 4 impacted wisdom teeth the bottom two had roots that were completely wrapped around my nerves. When I got this diagnosis, I was SCARED. I was told that there is a very high chance that I might lose feeling in my mouth and tongue. I was TERRIFIED. I asked him what the complications of this surgery would be and he said "everything will be fine" ok, so then I asked how long the recovery period will be he said "not long" I was not getting any definitive answers whatsoever. Then he shakes my hand and says "try and stay calm i will do my best" and walks out. I was so scared he did not try and console me or assure me of his ability of remove my teeth. So fast forward-- had the surgery on the 23rd of april fell asleep, woke up, went home. Dont remember muxh. But after the surgery all hell broke loose! The day after surgery a nurse called me and followed up with me. She asked how I was doing I told her that I was bleeding still, she was very helpful gave me advice and said she was going to set an appointment for me to get checked out. I said ok and was transferred to another woman on the phone (the same rude woman as before I think her name was Deborah or Devin) and she asks me when I wanted my appointment set for. I said "well I dont know what the appointment is for and I dont want to run back and forth from your office without knowing what is going on" this woman said "YOU set an appointment and YOU don't know what its for? How am I supposed to know what you need?" I cancelled the appointment and was shocked at how I was being treated. Well fast forward--- 5 days after the surgery (which is a saturday) around 10 am I called Dr.Schugel at his office because I was in an EXCRUCIATING amount of pain. I called and thr nurse said the office was closed but she would have the doctor call me. I said ok and sat by the phone and waited for the doctor to call me. At 10:45 i get a call from dr.schugel and he said "yes it sounds like you have a dry socket, it sounds like your in a lot of pain, well, I just left the office 5 minutes ago and I dont want to have to go and turn back on the computers so I can examine you, you can you tough it out until Monday?" I COULDNT BELIEVE IT! I had to sit in the most horrible pain in my entire lofe because he did want to turn on computers. I have since switched to another WONDERFUL ORAL SURGEON (Dr. Kirk Collier) and PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE SAVE YOURSELF THE TIME, MONEY, STRESS, AND PAIN AND GO ANYWHERE OTHER THAN DR.SCHUGEL! HE WAS RUDE AND HIS ENTIRE STAFF WAS RUDE! TRUST ME! I would rather pull a wisdom tooth with a pair of pliers than go back to this man.
