In my 2,000+ reviews, there are few that I would give 5+++ stars to if I could, but East Nashville…read moreFamily Dentistry is at the top of that list! Since moving to the East side of the city, I have been putting off finding a dentist and honestly only discovered ENF out of necessity and panic due to a broken crown. But what was a not so great moment turned into a great find and a new dentist! And oddly enough, they are located right beside my PT office, so it seems like a weird destiny based thing...and all it took was my 20+ year old crown to break on a turkey meatball on a Thursday afternoon. I am super thankful for the staff and Doctors here! I called at 12pm on a Thursday afternoon looking for a dentist to help with a cracked crown. I was not expecting much as I would be a new patient, so I knew there would be a process of getting in. I had a trip in a few days and would be away for over a week, so I was really hoping for immediate help, but was also ready to cancel my trip if needed. Well, the team at ENF got me in within 2 hours and had a temporary crown in place within 3.5 hours of my initial call. INSANE! Not only did they squeeze me in as a new patient, they were PHENOMENAL from the phone call to check-in to services performed to check out and beyond. Legit the most helpful, kind and friendly group of folks I have ever encountered at a dental office. I now have a follow up for my permanent, and have established the ENF team as my go-to dental spot moving forward. Overall, never thought I would be excited about having a Dentist again...but here I am!

The location is in East Nashville and is convenient, always clean and welcoming environment even they have free WiFIi. They work with many insurance companies and they can help you to budget your services you just need to talk to them and explain the situation. They even have a cancelation list if you need an appoint sooner for the type of care you need. I have to mention "Casey" my hygienist she is incredible in so many ways and again so thankful I found this place I am super happy.

Overall, the office staff was friendly, and the care I received was fine. I had a cleaning and a…read moremolar crown put in. The cleaning was as good as anywhere else. The crown was okay. Not super thrilled with the quality (after a few months, it still doesn't feel "natural" like some of the better crowns I've had), but functionally it gets the job done. My big gripe here is with their billing and their inability or willingness to hold themselves accountable for unacceptable billing practices. They gave me a "good faith estimate" on my crown that I paid up front, having already had all of my insurance information, but apparently quoted me as though I were in-network when they knew I was not (their words). I agreed to the work thinking it would cost around $900. (Paid in advance of service.) A few weeks after my crown, I got a bill for over $800. Turns out I was NOT in-network. When I discovered this and confronted the office manager with the information, I just received excuses: "it's not our fault you didn't know you were out-of-network", "we only gave you an estimate", "we made no mistakes", etc. Clearly mistakes were made. I was billed nearly double what they said it would cost when I agreed to the service and they refused to take any accountability. I would obviously have shopped around before agreeing to almost double that initial quote if I had known in advance it would be that expensive. After my initial discussion with the office manager, I was told she would call back about my proposed resolution. I've called back twice since, and have not been able to get ahold of her. This has ultimately led to me filing a complaint with the Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance. Will update this review with a resolution.

From the moment I walked in, the front desk person was super helpful and very cheerful. I didn't have to wait long at all. I'm just sad I can't remember everyone's names. The hygienist was so very nice and really made me feel comfortable. I shake a little and she didn't make me feel weird about it at all. She had great conversations, which took my mind off being nervous and it helped so much. Also she was super knowledgeable and explained everything each step of the way in depth. I also really loved the doctor. He Just had an ease about him and explained everything with no judgement. And Answered all my questions. I even thought the girls as I was checking out were super friendly and seemed actually happy to be at their job. Nowadays that's very rare. Again overall awesome experience. I will absolutely be suggesting to others. Thank you guys!

Those instructions were phoned to him after I checked in, while sitting near the front desk in mortification, waiting to have my teeth cleaned. Mt family have been patients of the Whitefields since 1979. My daughter is the 3rd generation to be seen by this practice. This long-standing relationship with this practice will most likely come to an end after our past visit a couple of days ago. I was told the prices increased exorbitantly because the practice has expanded. I was offered a payment plan I've never needed in the last 47 years to be able to afford my dentist. I remember Dr. Whitefield kindly bringing my sister in on weekends to work on her teeth when she was down on her luck because that was a day he devoted to helping those without insurance for a low to no cost visit. Now? My daughter was charged twice the cost because she does not have insurance. This is the same little girl who would follow Dr. Mark around in the office as he would show her the various equipment and take the time to be a family dentist. Now that same girl is in college and being charged twice as much as an insured patient because "the practice has grown to more than one doctor and we charge insurance companies less than what we charge self-pay because we have to keep costs low for the insurance companies to pay. But we do offer monthly payment plans now" My parents have already left the practice and found a new dentist who seems to care. My sister, who had been a loyal patient of Dr. Whitefield's (and his father before,) had to look for a different dentist as well. I have resisted leaving because my daughter has special needs and saw Dr. Mark and his hygienist, Meredith, since she was 3 and doesn't want to leave the only dental practice she's known. But after being treated so embarrassingly by the office staff (whose excuse was that the practice has expanded and they have to be tougher on patients and payments), and no longer having Dr. Mark as a dentist, and the chairs and equipment looking run down while the waiting area overflows with too many bodies... I think it's time to go. This was a good practice. I saw them every six months for the last 47 years as a patient through school, college, employment, death, unemployment, and the rigors of life... and that apparently doesn't matter anymore. Only the fact that I'd better pay twice the cost for my uninsured daughter that I paid for myself and I'd better pay it before I leave matters to this practice. it's a shame.
