I am basing it on burgers and dessert which was really good and food came out fast. Great service and pleasant staff.

    Lamb Cutlets were amazing!

Read update at the end: it was a 5 star...I have no idea why this restaurant got a 3.0. I've dined out at a lot of places all over the world and rate a place in respect to the type of restaurant. The service was quick, drinks, starters and mains were all ordered and delivered in good time. We had the Satay Chicken Skewers as a starter and they tasted great. I had the lamb cutlets as a main with the mint sauce and they were amazing. Everyone else at the table had a great time and very tasty meal. Update: we had dessert and then waited 30 minutes for the final bill. They then added the "optional" service charge when they shouldn't have have had a tip at all.

When you bring that rude French-like service to your restaurant, you better damn well bring great food. They have dishes with fancy names and fancy ingredients. We had the crayfish, prawn, and guacamole salad with crème fraîche starter. I had their "classic" burger with bacon and stilton cheese. My wife had the ribeye steak. We shared the chocolate brownie with vanilla ice cream. It was all mediocre. When you pay what you pay at Black & Blue, you expect a lot better.

Bare brick walls domed under the railway arches, glass and steel abound. Slimmed down menu focussing on the expected staples. We skipped the starter and headed straight for the Cote De Boeuf. There was much to recommend the meal; the house Shiraz was a perfectly balanced South African with a good spice and berry kick, the (free and unadvertised) house salad was a welcome addition (albeit served with an incongruous grated cheddar) and the service was warm and friendly. Sadly though, the chips seemed very much pre-prepared and the disc of foie served (for a £3 supplement) alongside came fridge cold. Worse still, the steak was flavourless. Well marbled and well prepared, a good Cote de Boeuf should be really packing, but this one packed up early and didn't give us anything.

Black and blue is a modern looking American restaurant, which specialises in Steaks and Burgers, and being a great lover of steak, I couldn't wait to go. I had a Rib eye steak which was fantastic, not many places do a steak like that, and my girlfriend had another delicious meal, prawns in garlic butter, which came a little small, but I still managed to have come. We also had a few starters, which were mediocre and definitely over priced at six pounds each, because they were just too small, something you don't tend to think about American restaurants, usually you struggle to finish. But overall, I think it was good value for money, my steak was around £20 and the prawns cost about £15 if I recall correctly. You cant miss this place, there is a black bull outside, almost accurate in size, with steak printed across it. It is really nice inside, it has separate rooms and some brick work with nice lighting, is great. The service is top notch, I asked for a bottle of recommendation on a bottle of wine and it went perfectly with my steak, the bottle cost £17,and went down like a treat, I had to have the whole bottle too as the girlfriend wasn't feeling up for it, no complaints there! I will definitely be going again.

The cafe is super cute in Covent Garden. We were seated quickly at a small table and given a complementary cup of fresh popcorn. Jessi Juan, our server, was attentive and friendly. We ordered a glass of wine and a beer. The menu is fairly simple, steaks and sides. Other steak and wine specials are listed on a board. Steaks start at £15 and sides are £4-5. Food comes out super quick. My husband and I had Flat Iron steaks and shared sides of Roasted Aubergine, Tomatoes and Mozzarella and Bone Marrow Mash. I also ordered the Bearnaise sauce to compliment my steak. Everything tasted excellent. My husband LOVED the Bone Marrow Mash potatoes with fried onion bits. I loved the aubergine. You receive a token for a complementary ice cream cone, which you pick up when you leave. The ice cream is topped with chocolate powder. The free cone is delicious and a nice touch. I'd return, heck, I'd even stand in line.

Garfunkel's seems to be a casual dining chain here. The atmosphere is similar to Applebee's, BJ's, and Chili's in the US. Plenty of tables and booths inside. They serve a variety of American food, ranging from pastas to pizzas to burgers. I opted for the fish and chips from the British Classics menu. It was £12.95, which is around $16 USD. Kind of a hefty price, but the portion was fair. The cod was cooked well, and the fried batter was crispy. The chips (US - fries) seemed a little soft, compared to the ones I've had back home. I do have to note that the rest of the dishes were a bit bland, but that was also the problem at every restaurant I ate here. Service was a little slow, but it was crowded when we came. Overall, the American menus is lacking, but I definitely enjoyed many of the British Classics offerings.

My partner and I visited on New Years Eve. I'm not sure if this is always the case, but the music playing was primarily American rock - like The Eagles, Neil Young, etc. It's fine, but not very in line with the classic, upscale feel. The bartending staff was top notch. I had a martini and my partner had a house Manhattan, both were perfect. We shared the iceberg wedge to start, a personal favorite, and this one was spot on. Great bleu cheese dressing, still warm lardons, and crispy, fresh iceberg lettuce. For mains, I ordered the aged Irish ribeye and chose to have it "gorgonzola encrusted". This was the first misstep. First of all, the grass fed beef stands on its own, I would never choose to add a sauce, but this was encrusted, right? Not so much. Here's the definition of encrusted from the Oxford dictionary: "Covered or decorated with a HARD surface layer". What I received was a steak smothered in (a very lovely) gorgonzola SAUCE with some bacon and spring onions. Had I known it was a sauce, I would have skipped it, or at the very least had it served on the side. Slightly disappointing, but the steak was perfectly medium rare and delicious. My partner ordered the hake. It was served with a prawn and a very tasty tarragon pesto. She said the pesto was the star. The fish was delicate and also well prepared. We shared sauteed spinach and roasted mushrooms, both delicious. For dessert we shared the banana and toffee mousse. This was the second misstep. This was a tasty dessert, but it was definitely not mousse. It was a very small sliver of banana bread (?). It had strong banana flavor and was served with rum raisin ice cream which was nice. It was also thankfully a very small portion as we were stuffed. Overall, a very decadent and elegant meal to ring in the new year!
