I've been coming here since I was a kid. After some time in the military and trying a few new places when I moved back here I'm right back to Smith Dental. They are always so kind, work with your budget and schedule, I've never felt that they try to oversell me on anything. The hygienists are all very friendly and wonderful at their jobs. They give you a cute goodie bag after every cleaning with floss/toothbrush and toothpaste. I feel like they truly care for each person as an individual and don't rush through things. They've recently moved and the new office is gorgeous! Spacious and clean, they still have their cute clown fish and larger waiting area. I didn't have insurance until recently and they helped me out with their personal insurance/dental program. They also told me about care credit which helped cover me when I couldn't afford what was needed but didn't want to space the fillings out over time... Which was a totally viable option that they offered me. I truly believe if you come here you won't be happy anywhere else! read more

A few months ago I came here for emergency dental care. I trusted the dentist who treated me and they completely shattered my trust. I have facial paralysis on the right side where the bad tooth was and due to low saliva production (from Bells Palsy) my teeth are not doing well on that side. They determined the tooth needed to be pulled and I consented to have them do it that day. After hours of pulling out pieces, they were finally done. When the numbness wore off, the pain was pretty intense and I couldn't open my mouth without excruciating pain in my jaw. It was kind of locked. Over the course of a few days the pain intensified and I went to the ER where they said it looked like there was something in there possibly left over from the procedure. I went back to Smith Dental and an older dentist came in to the room. I explained the issue and he grabbed a flashlight and said my pain was normal and nothing was in there. I went to another dentist who said I had a dry socket and NO ONE discussed my jaw at all. I did not matter and the older dentist was extremely rude implying I wanted pain meds. I am fine with ibuprofen but the assumption was very unprofessional as I have zero history of issues with pain medication. I took matters into my own hands and asked Google for help. I had my spouse use a flashlight and together we found a small square piece of what looked like foam. I used tweezers and pulled it out myself. Infection poured out of the hole and I gargled salt water and 50/50 peroxide water solution. I used a squirt bottle to clean it daily and I healed. My jaw slowly started to move better with less pain after the infection from the little square foam was removed. If I could give them less than zero, I would. They are extremely unprofessional and do not take accountability for errors. And just so everyone knows, I don't sue people so I have no stake in this post but to warn others about this office. read more

I had a great experience. Came in twice in 2 weeks, after not having gone to dentist in over a year. First visit was full x rays and check up. Went well, everyone friendly and pain free. Came back a second time for cleaning. Also went very well, hygienist was very good and friendly- wish I could remember her name... I had no issues. Both times I was asked at the end of the visit if there was anything else that concerned me. I like when doctors take the time to make sure you leave with all questions answered. Just make sure to confirm pricing ahead of time if you are paying cash so there are no surprises. read more

I went in for a wisdom tooth extraction with nitrous oxide and Novocain. The Dr. immediately assured me of the process and made me feel at ease. The total procedure took less than 15 mins, absolutely no pain, and now I am 12 hours postop and have yet to take any pain medication because it is healing so well. I had heard horror stories about wisdom teeth recovery and I expected to feel similarly. Not the case at all. The main dentist (can't recall his name) is some sort of tooth fairy, no doubt. Also, the women who work there are very friendly. At an earlier appointment they held my daughter while I received x-rays. I am so thrilled to have found this place. read more

Dr Ryan did a deep root canal,27mm, on my frnt tooth.I have had one done before with some pain, but Dr Ryan did my root canal with NO pain, and at a very resonable cost. I went to see Smith Dental on President's Day as I had the day off. I called in the morning and there was an opening in the afternoon for my cleaning. For my $99, I received complete x-rays, an exam by Dr. Ryan and a thorough cleaning. It was unexpected as I thought I had paid for cleaning and the exam only. I have gone to Smith dental since I was a little kid. They have always been great! Dr Smith and his son are awesome dentists, best ones I've ever had. They are always making sure you are comfortable and if they notice that you feel something they will stop and maybe numb you up more if needed. They are always nice and friendly! Their staff is amazing too!! I would recommend ANYONE to go to them. I've had bad experience before with dentists in the past and to see that they make it so pleasant to the point were I am not afraid or even dread going is awesome. This is my new favorite dentist. I was referred by a friend from SE, and she said "i know its far, but ive been going there for years and its completely worth the drive." I agree. I went in for 6 fillings and a root-planing. The cost was far lower than I could find at any other dentist (ya, i dont have dental, i suck), and they saw me on very short notice, and the process was very gentle and enjoyable. okay, actually root-planing isnt fun at all, but the hygienist made it tolerable for me. The staff is very knowledgeable, and more than willing to take the time to answer your questions and make you feel comfortable. I initially walked into my first scheduled appointment/ procedure, and was greeted by a receptionist with pupils so dialated she could barely focus on my face. She was polite, however giving me the wrong set of paperwork to fill out forgetting my medical history and allergens. I was was given the correct paperwork after I had seen the dentist whom walked in to tell his assistant to take x-rays, NOT making eye contact with me once. what kind of place is this!? The dental assistant then informed me that my procedure and cleaning had never been scheduled initially after I had confirmed with their office 1 day prior due to having a wedding that coming weekend. Her response was , "we must have forgot." Her answer for me was that I would have to reschedule out for the following 2nd weekend because the dentist didn't feel like seeing me that day. They then had me wait a remaining 14 minutes while they quoted me an estimate over $250. For returning to have the procedure done. I went to a different office and had my procedure done for FREE due to it only being a chipped tooth needing a small sand down job. HOW PATHETIC. I am available for questions Absolutely anytime. After having a bad experience at another Dentist in Cornelius I went in search of a Dentist that understood my severe phobia of needles and injections. My Wife and I found Smith Family Dental in Hillsboro. I promptly informed them of my phobia and Amber (the kind lady at the front counter) calmly said with a smile "No problem, Dr. Smith is wonderful when it comes to oral injections, he uses a topical numbing gel and gives it plenty of time to take effect." She also explained that Dr. Smith was very gentle and never rushes a patient. I was so relieved to hear that they understood. This was 3 years ago. Now I actually look forward to saying hi to the staff and have had nothing but wonderful experiences at their Dental office. My Wife and 4 of my kids go there for all their Dental needs. Dr. Smith will be putting in a crown for me in the next few weeks and my mind is at ease. I literally cannot say enough great things about Dr. Smith and Dr. Ryan Smith. My Husband had a cleaning done and was later recommended to get root planing and scaling done. The receptionist told us that his insurance covered the root planing and scaling, so we agreed to get it done right away. Later on, we were receiving letter not phone calls in the mail saying we owed for the root planing and scaling. We then had to call ourselves to figure out what was going on. Then to figure out that we had to wait for our insurance required a 12 month waiting period to get the root planing and scaling approved. SOMETHING THAT IS THE RECEPTIONIST JOB To have knowledge of what was approved. We always double checked that what we were getting done with them was something our insurance would cover so we didn't end up having to pay a large amount that we truly couldn't afford. Now, we are over 1,000 over debt and they only have 3 month payment plans that we can not afford. There receptionist Araceli is the rudest and most difficult receptionist that we had to work with there. I do not recommend this place to anyone that does not want to deal with 1000$ payments later on. read more
