However, the office management has caused gross problems in obtaining and maintaining appointments. There have been frustrating issues in the past but it has been made much more difficult for me to maintain proper dental care as of recent. I had an appointment scheduled (for 6 months) for a second cleaning last week and received text reminders of it. However, just days before, new reminders came in for an hour earlier than the originally scheduled time. I called the office and was told they moved my time. I advised that I can't finagle that due to my work schedule and was told my appointment would have to be moved to October.. and was only offered times that wouldn't work for me. The receptionist verified she was going to cancel the appointment and I got online and found an appointment that work ok with my schedule for just a week later (today). I received email verification that the appointment was "confirmed". I received a couple of text reminders of this appointment and, again, made arrangements to take work off early to attend. I left work early across town today and made it to the previously confirmed and rescheduled appointment just to be told my appointment had been canceled and given to someone else who "needed it" because I didn't "confirm" the appointment again via text by yesterday. I had already received confirmation of the appointment. I've used this dentistry for years and don't think I've ever confirmed via text.. nor have I ever been a no show. There is nothing in the text that states this is required or that there is a deadline to do so or your already "confirmed" appointment will be cancelled without notice. It felt like passive-aggressive game playing and I was met with disregard. Again, I was given the option of scheduling for impossible times for me in October. In this economy, having to lose time from work and with current gas prices, this sort of treatment of a patient leaves one feeling quite devalued. I didn't find out until the day of my 1st appointment that I wasn't going to see him. I called and asked why I was switched and all they stated was " we can reschedule you if you want ". No other rationale other than I could reschedule to see Dr. Atkins. This unfortunately made me distrust this practice right off the bat. I had already taken off work that day so I decided to go ahead and just go and see the other doctor. He ended up being great but I still feel like the office staff was in the wrong. When you go to check in the office staff are very straight to the point and only interested in your insurance information or obtaining payment. They really don't smile. They seem to lack empathy and lack customer service/kindness. I would send them all to Chick-Fil-A for a week to do some training. lol. I also received a surprise call from the office 6 months post surgery about owing additional money. I guess they had billed my insurance and it took this long for them to realize they needed a little more money from me. I was under the impression that everything was 100% payed for when I left that day after surgery. I understand dealing with insurance can take time and be difficult so I just paid it and moved on with my life. I would recommend this oral and maxillary surgery practice. I do believe the doctors are very good and this is why my dentist sent me to them. The nurses/dental assistants were very good as well. The front desk office staff ( aka, the face of your business ) unfortunately lacked in my opinion but the good news is they aren't the ones doing surgery on you ! :)

I had A LOT of cavities that needed to be filled in when I moved to Amarillo. He worked with me in creating a personalized treatment plan, and to this day I get compliments from other dentists on how great my fillings look (weird I know, but I think that certainly speaks on the work that he has done on my teeth)! He has also helped me with trimming my teeth to help alleviate my TMJ. At the end of my two years in Amarillo, he even took the time to research local dentists in my new destination city and gave me recommendations. All in all, AWESOME dentist, if I had someone like him in my current city I would come to his practice in a heartbeat.

It's true that many families will go where they're referred. We've sat through two different consultations, and while they were both informative and helpful, it seemed that Hodges & Hodges cared and really wanted to get to know their clients. The bottom dollar was also a factor in whether our son should wear braces. One orthodontist even commented that it looked like our son had gone through "phase one" with braces already, which he hadn't! Good news: we opted to put him in braces and Hodges & Hodges told us 12-14 months! From Cassie, the assistant who runs the consultations, to Brande, who works the finances, and to Dr. Patrick Hodges-- we were extremely pleased with their friendliness, ability to answer all of our questions, and then the pricing. It was seriously $800 less than their competitor, and they offer the same thing but in less time (their competitor quoted us 18 months). We've known multiple families who used H&H plus a few former employees and we've always heard great things! Our son gets braces in just a few days and we know we've chosen the right office with the right doctors, with the right methods, and the right staff! The Hodges brothers pretty much spend as little time as possible interacting with you, and brush off any issues you may be having unless you keep insisting that they investigate further. They just want you out of there to open up the seat for the next patient. Really, I imagine I couldve gone about anywhere here for the same results as I got. I would not recommend this office to any friends for the reasons I listed. Shop around and find a staff you wont get tired of seeing for the next couple of years, trust me!
